Hi all-- don't yell.... my G-4 died and I am finally going into more debt than
I really can afford to get the new smallest iMac. But, I found my Wallstreet
actually DID have enough memory to install the laser printer from the G-4.
Here are my questions. I was told two years ago when I looked and again when I
was desperate a few days ago that the new OS will not support FreeHand and
Adobe flat out said, when they acquired it, that they would no longer support
it and that we would all have to go to Illustrator--BUT that Illustrator would
open FreeHand files-- hmm- today I called and they said (customer
serives-Inever reached tech) it would open ALL files--I told them it would need
to go back to version 6 through MX (one beyond 10) and OS 8 through 10.4.6(I
think) they sawid it would. I know this is not an oldie (well...) question-
but anyobody have any idea/info? My business files and sutff for the SPCA and
in there-- and we are hoping the apple
sotre can move files from a totally dead...in case my backups are not the last
copy I made (and I use triple redundancy--thumb drive, zip , and floppy-but one
never knows and I doubt the IRS would like being handed a disc and saying my in
formation is on there somewhere!)
Question # 2 is about the Wallstreet. Since I could install the
laserprinter, I would like to go for the old scanner too. How do I go from the
USB to the Wallstreet? I do not see anything obviously compatible--at least to
me...
Thanks to all (I am totally ignoring the Internet- I never did fig=ure out
how to follow the directions y'all kindly gave about paritioning and so on to
get up into an OS that is more Internet friendly-- my fault...
Agh- only an hour allowed here and I need research done!!
I will check back when I can--thanks!!
Dead-in-the-water G-$er and Wallstreeter!
Sheryl
