Well I agree tom, but technology wise, i don't see navigation difficulties 
as an absolute fact of being visually impared, ----- not with things like 
the Ultra cane being developed, and all the possible applications of sat nav 
technology.

In fact eventually, it wouldsn't surprise me if a combination of sat nav and 
echo or infra red location could be used to create something in real life 
which performed much the same functions as the navigater in shades as far as 
routes and obstacle information was concerned (though obviously it couldn't 
tell you about objects).

In fact on this score, it wouldn't surprise me if playing shades etc was 
quite good practice for future tech developements, ---- ;D.
