I mirror similar thoughts at times; perhaps the newer stories aren't aimed at "us", and therefore they suck. Me, I've actually enjoyed Seed and Seed Destiny as popcorn fare, and proceed to do so with Gundam 00. While I do appreciate well-made anime that can appeal to adults as well, I always keep in mind that it's still anime, and may have to appeal to a different market, too - especially in the case of something like Gundam, which has more than the show to think about.
