Hello, it’s Peter here. I hope your day is going well and that you’ll be able
to join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm for Tuesday’s Look North. We’ll have all
the day’s news, we’ll have the latest on the Tory leadership battle of course,
it should be all sorted out today and Lisa Gallagher will have the forecast.
And if you’re a fan of Neighbours, then I’ll be talking to one of the stars
just a little bit later on at 6.30pm as usual!

Write

Don’t forget if you want to drop me a line about any subject, I’ve had emails
on a variety of issues, including birthdays and lots of emails for our little
what’s on spot, then you can get me direct on [EMAIL PROTECTED] I look forward
to hearing from you.

Now the first letter comes from June Fitz Gibbon, she says, “Would you please
publicise Alford Art’s Circle and Country Market Christmas Fair, which will be
held on Saturday 10 December at St Wilfred’s Church Hall, opposite the Co-op in
Alford between 10am and 7pm. There’ll be a special Christmas raffle in aid of
St Wilfred’s Church Hall and also an exhibition by local artists. There’ll be
the usual stalls selling cakes and jewellery and bird tables and plants and
craft works.” So go along and support St Wilfred’s Church in Alford at the
Christmas Fair on Saturday 10 December.

And just a reminder, this Thursday night at the Street Life museum I shall be
one of several people doing a reading at the Christmas Carol Service. It’s at
the Street Life museum and starts at 7.30pm in Hull on Thursday night. If you
can make it along, then I’ll be doing a reading, Amy Black will be performing
and the evening will be hosted by Blair Jacobs and also John Godber and his
wife Jane Thornton will be doing a reading as well. If you can make it along,
then it’s the Street Life museum on Thursday night at 7.30pm.

And a note comes in here from Terry Grant, he says, “I read with great interest
your letter on house prices affected by the title of your road.” I was saying
yesterday that if you live on a Lane, then that’ll mean your house price will
be higher, but it won’t be so good if you’re on a Road or a Drive. “We live on
a Lane and have the house on the market at the moment. It’s a four bedroom
detached house for sale at £101 000 and Peter, so much for living on a Lane, it
is not selling!” So there you are, I don’t know where it is, and even if I did,
I couldn’t do adverts anyway, but a four bedroom detached house is on sale for
£101 000, somewhere in our region!

So if you’ve got any more views on selling houses and if you think the address
can affect how much money you get for it, then do drop me a line.

Calendars

Just the usual reminder that the calendars are still on sale for Children In
Need. Hopefully, in just a few weeks’ time, I will be able to announce just how
much money we’ve managed to raise, but they’re still on sale in our receptions
in Lincoln, Grimsby and in the Hull Open Centre. They’re also on sale on our
two buses, BBC Radio Lincolnshire bus and BBC Radio Humberside bus as they
travel across our region. But if you want to send in a cheque for £6 to cover
the postage and packing, then the address to send it to is BBC Look North
Calendars, Queens Court, Queens Gardens, Hull, HU1 3RH. Just make the cheque
payable to the BBC and we’ll send a calendar back return of post. I’ll look
forward to hearing from you. If you’ve already bought a calendar, then thank
you very much indeed.

Panto

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be talking to some of the stars of the
pantomimes in our region. Tonight’s guest from Neighbours is in a pantomime and
later this week, now that the Jungle is over, Bobby Ball and Tommy Cannon will
be on their way to Hull. Rehearsals started yesterday in Hull, but the duo of
course won’t be back from Australia until later in the week. By the way, next
Thursday, not this Thursday, but the Thursday after will see the start of this
year’s pantomime and I look forward to going to see that one!

Christmas Presents

If the news gets out, then it could cause a family row around the Christmas
tree. Apparently parents spend nearly £100 more on gifts for their sons than
for their daughters! The reason that boys are so lucky, well they’re better at
pestering than girls. A study has showed that sons receive the lion’s share of
festive gifts with parents spending an average £223 on their sons. That can’t
be each can it? They tended to want more electronic goods that obviously cost
more than girls’ gifts. This year, the most wanted gifts for boys include the
Sony PSP games console and the Roboraptor dinosaur. Daughters on the other hand
are receiving gifts costing on average £127, £96 less than their brothers. So
there you are, a little bit of inequality in the toy-buying department!

Well, that’s it from me for today. If you want to comment on anything I’ve
talked about today or indeed about anything at all, then contact me at the
usual address, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Before I go, just one quick mention to G4. Of
course, one of the members of G4, Matt Stiff, is from Grimsby. Their album has
gone straight in the album charts at number 6! It’s only been beaten by the
likes of Madonna, Robbie Williams and Take That, but G4 is straight in at
number 6 in the album charts with their new CD. They’ve been extraordinarily
successful, haven’t they?

Well that’s definitely it from me for today. Join me tonight on BBC1 at 6.30pm
and look out for tomorrow’s Levy Letter at the usual time.

Take care

Peter
