Hi there, it’s Caroline this morning. I can’t believe it’s the last day that
Crispin and I will be with you for Look North at 6.30pm. Many thanks for all
your wonderful comments welcoming me and Crispin to the show. We’ve both really
enjoyed it, despite the occasional stressful moments!

On tonight's programme, we’ll be looking at whether or not private door staff
should be allowed to use plastic handcuffs to restrain troublesome night
clubbers. This is aiming to give door staff new powers to help tackle those
clubbers, who cause a nuisance to the rest of us trying to enjoy a night out.
We'll be getting the police reaction to this new initiative and finding out
what clubbers in Stamford think to this new scheme. But what do you reckon?
There’s lots of time today for you to get in touch with us on this one. Do you
think door staff need help in controlling drunk and disorderly members of the
public or do you think that on occasion door staff are responsible for inciting
further trouble by aggravating the situation? Well, get in touch. What
experience have you had with bouncers? Get in touch with our newsroom. The
address to email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] I look forward to reading your views.

Also tonight, we’ll be finding out more about Hull City Council's new scheme to
turn the city centre into a 24 hour Covent Garden style area. I’m sure people,
who live and work in Hull, are aware that the city centre becomes a bit of a
ghost town when the shops shut. So we’ll be listening to the council’s new plan
to bring people in the centre in the evening. I’m sure we’d all appreciate that
but will it work? I’m sure you’ve got a view on that. So tune in tonight to
find out how they’re going to rejuvenate the town.

There’s the sad news today that another whale has been washed up in the River
Humber today. Rescue workers have been unable to save the animal, but we’ll be
asking why this keeps happening in our area.

It’s an awful sight isn’t it? When you’re driving along and you see some
rubbish thrown out of a car on the side of the road. Well, tonight, I’ll have
the latest in our Grimewatch series looking at plans to tackle graffiti and
flytipping.

And as you know I love the theatre and love being on stage and of course I’ll
be auditioning again for this year’s Radio Humberside pantomime shortly! Well,
I got the cushy job today of going for a sneaky peak behind the scenes at a
play at Hull New Theatre. It’s a wonderful children's play, called The Gruffalo
and it’s opening in Hull shortly.

Last night on the programme, we had a very heated debate about wind turbines.
We had both sides of the argument on the programme with Richard Mardon from
Your Energy, who is behind the plans for this wind turbine site and also Allan
Hilton in the studio from the Wind Turbine Action Group. Their interview has
got you all emailing in with your views about wind turbines. Here’s just a few
from the inbox!

Nick from Lincoln is very angry. He says, “I think it’s utterly ridiculous!
Does nobody realise that wind power and power from other natural resources is
the answer? And what’s more of an eye sore? A power station, or a group of wind
turbines?... It makes me so angry that people choose to complain about
something so positive, that is an obvious step in the right direction.”

And Mike from Willerby writes in to say, “If you covered the entire country
with wind turbines, they would not generate a fraction of a per cent of the
country's energy needs. How many would be built if they were not subsidised?”
And then Mike goes on to ask – “Can anyone tell me how long it takes a wind
turbine to generate enough energy to make another one?” Well, do you know? I’m
sure I can’t do the maths to figure that one out!

Thanks for all your comments. Keep them coming in to the Look North inbox –

Take care, and make the best of our rainy Friday!

Caroline
