Hello, it’s Peter here and welcome to Friday’s Levy Letter. I hope your day is
going well and I hope you’ll be able to join me tonight on BBC One at 6.30pm.
I’ll have all the day’s news, including the latest on the murder on Park Lane
in Hull. Detectives continue their investigation over the death of an elderly
woman, believed to be from the Chinese community. I’ll have the very latest on
that.

Also tonight, we'll be looking at the troubled United Lincolnshire Hospital
Trust over new claims of staff bullying and intimidation. And we'll be
investigating claims that women over the age of forty-five are the main cause
for a rise in the number of sexually transmitted diseases in Lincolnshire. I’m
sure that comes as a surprise to you. Normally experts blame young people and
suggest it’s their sexual behaviour, which is to blame. But new figures are
out, which suggest that women over forty-five are to blame for a rising
epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases. I’ll have the full story on that.

Look North will have an exclusive report on an anti-bullying campaign, which is
being aided by the Big Brother star from Hull, Dan Bryan. And we'll be behind
the scenes of a new art exhibition, which is opening in London. It's by one of
the greatest living artists, David Hockney, and features scenes from the East
Riding. So that’s tonight on Look North. And Lisa Gallagher will have the
forecast for us as well.

Ipod

All the trendies have their Ipods at the moment, but things are changing.
Shortly we will be able to watch movies on the new Ipods. You can download them
straight onto the computer and then transfer them to your Ipod. The Ipod
revolution is about to spread its wings from music to movies. Apple have
unveiled a new movie download service, which will allow users to watch films on
their Ipods or home PCs. Or you can have them beamed wirelessly to your TV! The
company also revealed a new generation of Ipods with brighter screens and
extended memory and battery life to make the service possible. Soon you can
download movies straightaway and put them on your Ipod and then go out and
watch the film wherever you are. The films, by the way, will cost about £8.40
for a brand new movie and £5.60 for some of the older ones.

Quiz Shows

I see that a fifth person has won the TV show, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
This guy, who’s won this time, is being called – The King of the Quizzes. He’s
been on Countdown and triumphed on that. He’s also had winning rounds on
Mastermind and Fifteen To One. Yesterday Ingram Wilcox was celebrating his best
TV victory yet winning Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Good news for him! His
quiz career spans twenty-six years and he first appeared in 1980 on Mastermind.
It seems a little bit unfair that somebody who’s been on so many quizzes should
have won a million pounds, but then I suppose he’s done a lot of work for it.
That show will be on the telly in two parts and is coming up shortly.

Political Correctness

As you know, you keep me up to date with stories on political correctness. But
this story, I actually read for myself. It’s about a council in Bristol and
they’ve ordered that thousands of residents remove doormats from outside their
homes, because it’s claimed that they are a tripping risk. And Bristol City
Council also says that if the mats are not removed voluntarily, then they will
come and seize them and take them away. So there you are! Be very careful, if
you’ve got a doormat. They are a tripping risk!

TV

We were talking a few weeks back about the return of Extras. It was back last
night on BBC One with Ricky Gervais. I hope you enjoyed it. I see that Strictly
Come Dancing is coming back. Amongst the dancers this time around is somebody,
who I’m a big fan of, and that’s the former Spice Girl, Emma Bunton. She’s
hot-footing her way back on our TV screens. She’s amongst fourteen TV celebrity
contestants. Also taking part and dancing is the TV newsreader, Nick Owen,
who’s fifty-nine and Jimmy Tarbuck! Can you believe this? He’s sixty-six. The
programme once again will be hosted by Tess Daly and Bruce Forsyth and he’s now
seventy-eight and still doing live TV. The programme is coming back shortly on
BBC One for a twelve week run.

Emails

Don’t forget, if you fancy dropping me an email, then it would be great to have
some when I get back from holiday. If you’ve got a problem or an issue that you
think we could deal with on the programme, then give me the details. Drop me a
line. Also, over the next week or so, if you’ve got any pictures of a view that
you think we could show on the Big Screen, then let me take a look. I’d love to
hear from you. Get in touch to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Do nothing and don’t panic, but I am away for a week’s holiday. So no Levy
Letters next week, but the next Letter will fall into your inbox on Monday 25th
September. So that’s a week on Monday. Have a very good week and take care.
Don’t forget about me and look out for you letter again a week on Monday!

Take care,

Peter
