Hello there and welcome to the first in this week’s Levy Letters. I hope you
had an enjoyable weekend. It seemed to be a bit of a washout on Saturday but
did brighten up on Sunday. Let’s hope the rest of the week stays nice. I must
say I am still holding out for a proper summer and although it is October, I
haven’t given up hope! Stranger things have happened!

Eastenders

I did mention last week that the countdown to Christmas has well and truly
started as many shops have already started selling Christmas products. It is
not just the shops that are counting down as the Eastenders’ writers have given
us a spoiler as to what to expect this Christmas.
Nasty Nick Cotton, the son of Dot Cotton, will be making a return having spent
the past few years in prison. Do you think he will be a changed man or will he
be back to make poor old Dot’s life miserable. I’ll definitely be watching to
see what happens!
Another character set to make a return to Walford this Christmas is Janine
Butcher. The last time she appeared she was at her father’s funeral, so what
will she get up to this time? I’ll be looking forward to it!

Weekend Telly

It was the battle of the big ones this weekend as more couples danced away on
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and the finalists were revealed on ‘X Factor’. For
those of you who missed them here are the details on the winners and losers.
The two couples dancing for survival were Olympic swimmer Mark Foster and
Hayley Holt and chef Gary Rhodes with his partner Karen Hardy. Unfortunately
it was Gary Rhodes who danced off the show this week with a judges’ score of 18
and the least amount of votes. If you remember I tipped Mark Foster to win, so
I do hope he gets better as the series progresses.

On ‘X Factor’ this week the final 12 contestants were announced. The finalists
from boot camp all went to the judges’ homes in glamorous locations to fight it
out for the final places. Simon Cowell, who will be mentoring the male acts,
chose Eoghan Quigg, Austin Drage and Scott Bruton.
Dannii Minogue will be mentoring the over 25 acts and her finalists are Rachel
Hylton, Daniel Evans and Ruth Lorenzo.
Cheryl Cole’s acts are the under 25 females, Alexander Burke, Laura White and
Diana Vickers
Louis Walsh will mentor the bands, Girl Band, JLS and Bad Lashes are in the
band section.
It’s set to be a good year of talent this series and I’m looking forward to
seeing who wins! Who do you think will win?

Condoms for goats

What do you think to this one? I’ve read that Maasai herdsmen in Kenya have
turned to a contraceptive device, to protect their precious goat herds from an
ongoing drought. The device is called an Olor and is made from cowhide or a
square piece of plastic, and is tied around the belly of the male goat, which
prevents the bucks from mating with the female goats.
The herdsmen are using the Olor to limit the goat population and ensure there
are not too many animals grazing on sparse vegetation. Well there you go
contraception for animals. Let’s hope it works!

That’s all from me, I hope you will join me for tonight’s Look North,

Take care,

Peter
