Hi there, it’s Peter here. Let's hope the weekend holds the blue skies and for
the brave souls who were not daunted by our story this week on the broken
bungee ride, there is a last chance to visit Hull Fair. Maybe you will choose
a more sedate pastime and look in on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ to watch Cherie
Lunghi and her partner, James, dance American Smooth in week 5 of the
competition and see Cherie give the youngsters a run for their money! It is
the first week of the competition where male and female celebrities compete
against each other. Some of our presenters and reporters from Look North are
undergoing 7 weeks training to learn a routine to perform at the Bridlington
Spa on Children in Need night.

This week saw the ‘Antiques Road Show’ visit the Spa in Bridlington with Fiona
Bruce. Have you ever found a family heirloom in the attic or had something
valued that your other half wanted to throw away - maybe even rescued something
valuable from a skip - I would love to hear about it if you have.

Olympic Stars
Almost two months after they returned from Beijing with the best medal haul in
100 years, it was finally time for Team GB to be welcomed home. Carried on 12
floats and led by the Coldstream Guards, the Olympic and Paralympic teams were
saluted by cheering crowds lining the route to Trafalgar Square. Boris Johnson,
Mayor of London, made a rousing speech in glorious sunshine – a real feel good
moment and a lot of anticipation for the 2012 Games.

Status Quo
Those of you that lost out on seeing Status Quo this week will be happy to hear
that Look North has been told that the show has been rescheduled to 30th
January and all tickets for the original show remain valid. Rock on!

Gator Gobbling Snake
You know how much I hate snakes…… well there is one less in the world to worry
about - a 13 foot Burmese python tried to swallow a 6 foot alligator in the
Everglades National Park. They're deadly rivals and the python's remains were
found with the alligator's tail protruding from its burst midsection. The head
of the python was missing! The Rangers say the snakes are left in the wild
after they become too big as pets. I’m glad that doesn’t happen here – maybe
you know different? I’m not sure I want to know if you do!

Sporty Stuff
Good luck to all our regional teams playing this weekend. The Tigers are
playing West Ham at home on Sunday. West Ham is 6th in the League and Hull is
2nd only to Liverpool and Chelsea! Watch out for traffic problems with the
Fair being on and have a great weekend.

Take care,
Peter
