Hello there and welcome to Wednesday’s edition of the Levy Letter. Are you
enjoying the sunshine today? The weather seems to have brightened up as we have
gone into the week so let’s hope it will last!

School Finances

I’ve been reading today that primary and secondary school children will be
receiving lessons on how to manage their finances. The My Money scheme is part
of a £11.5 million government scheme and will cover topics such as how money is
used and debt. The Personal Finance Education Group charity is leading the
programme and commissioned a survey to mark the launch. The survey suggests
that children are more aware of the credit crunch especially as parents may be
discussing finances more openly. What do you think to this one? Do you think it
is a good idea? I’d love to hear your thoughts. You can contact me on [EMAIL
PROTECTED] Remember you can use this address for anything else you would like
to discuss.

Billie’s Baby

Former ‘Doctor Who’ actress Billie Piper has given birth to a baby boy. Her
husband Laurence Fox confirmed that the baby was born on Tuesday morning at
0100 BST by emergency Caesarean. The couple have named the baby Winston James
Fox and weighed 6lbs and 11oz. Congratulations!

Britney Spears

I’m not sure if you are a fan but it seems that Britney’s rise and fall has
been documented by everybody. However she does seem to be making a good
comeback but a court case in America could have seen her facing six months in
jail due for driving without a valid driving license. The charge related to an
incident in Los Angeles last August, when the pop star was photographed hitting
a parked car and leaving the scene. The jury were unable to come to a decision
and the judge has declared a mistrial. Prosecutors will not be pursuing the
matter so Britney will not face a retrial. So things seem to be looking up for
Ms Spears.

Naked Burglar

This might give you a giggle. I’ve read that a naked man was found wedged in
the chimney of supermarket in Wigan and was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Police officers found him trapped in a chimney breast and fire-fighters were
called out to rescue him. He became trapped as he tried to get out. A
spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police has said "It is believed some of his
clothes came off as a result of him struggling to get out of the chimney." How
embarrassing!

That is all for today’s Levy Letter. I hope you will join me for tonight’s Look
North at 6.30pm on BBC One.

Take care,

Peter
