Hello Nancy . . . here is a jar mix recipe idea for Glenda in 
Pittsburgh. It's very easy to assemble. You can finish off the 
project with a piece of decorative material for the topper and attach 
the directions tag with a pretty ribbon.

FRIENDSHIP SOUP MIX
(layer ingredients in clean mason jar in order listed)
1/2 cup split peas
1/4 cup pearl barley
1/2 cup lentils
1/4 cup onion flakes
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 bay leaves
4 beef bouillon cubes (or 1/3 cup granules)
1/2 cup long-grain white rice
1 (28-oz.) can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup small macaroni (place separately in small plastic baggy)

(print the following directions on a tag & attach to jar) To prepare 
soup, remove macaroni from top of jar and set aside. In a large 
saucepan, brown 1 lb. ground beef and drain. Add 3 quarts water, can 
of diced tomatoes, and contents of jar; bring to a boil. Reduce heat 
and cover. Simmer for 45 minutes. Add reserved macaroni and cover. 
Simmer for 15 minutes.

Navy SOS
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 onion, diced
cooking oil
flour
1 med. can diced tomatoes with juice
1 sm. can tomato sauce
garlic salt to taste
paprika - for color

Brown the ground beef with the onion. When browned add the flour, 
just enough to allow the beef, onion and oil to thicken, and stir 
till all is combined together. 
Add the can of diced tomatoes with the juice and the can of tomato 
sauce.
Stir and heat till bubbly. 
Serves 2. 
Serve over toast, biscuits, rice or mashed potatoes.

PUMPKIN FLUFF
1 (12 or 16 oz.) tub of Fat Free Cool Whip
1 (3 or 5 oz.) sugar free instant vanilla pudding
1 (15 oz.) can solid pack pumpkin
1 t. pumpkin pie spice

Mix all ingredients in large bowl and chill till serving.

LOW CALORIE MILK SHAKE
1 c. skim milk
1/2 box sugar free instant pudding
Sweet & Low to taste (about half a packet)
1/8 t. vanilla
ice cubes 

Mix all ingredients in blender. Drop in ice cubes, one at a time, to 
thicken. Makes one frosty shake. 140 calories, 1 gram fat.
