Including Geoff Clarke and those who support him staying.  If the standards
have been lowered, then everyone who plays by the new rules is to blame.

There were 'political considerations' for Howard's ministers not standing
down too.  Does this make a difference?  And such considerations aren't
'preventing' Clarke from standing down - he still could if he wanted to.
And I, for one, would be impressed if he did as he would be not taking the
Howard low road.

But anyway, as you said above, I think you basically agree.
