gets stuck unable to play properly and unable to stop as stream is
active. In these circumstance the fix will kill Mplayer by faking an
end of stream.

The problem is due to packets being unable to be sent probably due to
network congestion so it seems to be most prevalent weekdays 7am-9am,

I'm at 3hr 37 when using WAV - your header theory looks right.
I think this problem was never noticed because there were few BBC
programs longer than 3hrs except live broadcasting.

I've built a version of Windows Mplayer with my latest patch according

Which patch files are you using ?
The gz file is only for pre7 - lots of changes were made between pre7
and current CVS.
Neil said that he had to patch the file - I'm not sure what or why as I
did a CVS update.

My file was for CVS 1.74 - your patch was for 1.73.
The Mplayer developers seem to make lots of small changes - the only
change was they moved resync_audio from one file to another.

- Goto WebUI Settings Information and note the cache director y path.
- Stop SC

I need the log from just before you start playing wavin:0 so
enable logging and note time. Start playing wavin:0, wait 2 minutes and
then look at server.log
Copy into a text file all log lines from noted time until last line.
Zip the text file and attach to a post.

1.04 is set up in its install.xml with Maxversion of 7.3 - so it will
not be loaded in 7.4
You could try editing the install.xml and change MaxVersion.
I suspect that changes are need for 7.4 noweb-sqllite but not 7.4

Since it happens on a hardware player as well, it sounds like a Sirius
problem or an SC problem but not a Softsqueeze problem.
Try enabling plugin.sirius logging to see if more message are generated
in the log.
