Subject: ARERR [9130] An exception occurred from the WebService class :
(401)Unauthorized

  **   Hi again,

Following on my previous post on ARERR [9130] (401)Unauthorized"

  The AdvancedGuide-630 Page-433 states that
==
If the authentication header is not specified, the user name is picked up from
the Remedy Configuration Tool.
==

  I can't see in the WDSL file I was given that there is a header where to
include the user/password so I am assuming the ARS system will use the account
I added in the Mid-Tier config tool.

In the ConfigGuide-630 Page-217, it states that
==
This window (Wbservice user/password fields) provides a text fields in which to
 enter a user name and password
for authentication when accessing web services.
For published web services used by AR System, user information such as user
name, password, and domain name are passed to the service through Simple
Object Access Protocol (SOAP) headers. If a user name and password cannot be
found in the SOAP headers, the name and password specified in these
fields are used to connect to the server where the needed web service resides.
There is no default value for these fields.
==

Further on it says:
==
Anonymous User: Enter a user name to use with web services. The user can be
either a registered or a guest user (if guest users are allowed in your AR
System environment).
Anonymous Password: Enter a password to use with web services. This field must
be left blank if the user is a registered user.
==

  So, In addition to adding the user to the configuration tool, I created the
same user in the user form and tested twice:

  1. Removing the password from the config tool
  2. Keeping the password in the config tool and removing the user from the
user form.

  None of this worked!! :)

  Any thoughts chaps,

  Many thanks in advance
frex

Re: Budget items

2008-01-23 Thread Bradford Bingel
Remedy Developer Plus (RDP) is $8,950 per server instance (multiple users
may use the same license if they access the same server). Additional
licenses (also licensed by server, not by user) are $4,475 each.

Remedy Migrator is $7,500 per instance -- you'll need two (2) instances to
move information between platforms. Additional licenses are $2,500 per
instance.

For budgeting purposes, you'll also need to apply the following adjustments:

   - Subtract any discount your reseller may offer
   - Add annual maintenance, determined by your support level and your
renewal date
   - Add applicable sales tax (unless you are an exempt government agency or
a business with a valid sales tax exemption certificate)

So for example, if you wanted to purchase a copy of RDP, that would be:

   $8,950 list price
   less discount (let's say 15%, or $1,342.50)
   plus maintenance (let's say you're at 18% thru May 31, or 4 more months
-- $8,950 x .18 x 4/12 or $537)
   plus sales tax

Assuming you purchase from an out-of-state reseller (to avoid sales tax),
your actual cost would be $8,950 - $1,342.50 + $537, or $8,144.50.

Oh, and don't forget add the incremental full-year annual support cost in
the following year's maintenance budget!

Please feel free to call if you have questions, need any additional
information, or want me to provide you with a formal quotation.

Re: Appending headers to outgoing email messages

2008-01-23 Thread L G Robinson

Hi Mike,

Thanks to a suggestion from Fred Grooms, I have gotten this
to work by pushing new records to the Email Messages form
instead of using the Notify action. If I add the extra
headers to a text field and push this field as Organization,
it seems to work.

My only problem now is that the records that are pushed into
the Email Messages form do not get removed after sending as
the Notify records do. Still trying to figure that out, but if
I can't, I'll use an escalation or a filter to clean things up.

This is all on a 5.01.02 P1313 system.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

I believe that hack only worked on some platforms, and wouldn't
expect it to survive an upgrade.

We needed to do something similar, but couldn't find a way in Remedy.
So we just sent the email to a small external perl script, which
rewrote the headers and forwarded it on.

Updating Change and Task Templates

2008-01-23 Thread Rick Cook
If a Change Template or Task Group Template is selected for an Incident or
Change, and the tasks within that template are modified or removed while
that Incident or Change is still active, what happens to the tasks currently
attached to the Change/Incident? Are they allowed to continue under the
rules in place when the Task was initially attached to the Incident/Change,
or are those rules updated when the Template is updated?

Could we end up with tasks that are frozen - which cannot be properly
completed or cancelled, due to the change in the Template in which that Task
resides? Could we end up with orphaned Tasks, which would cause there to be
Incidents and Change Requests that cannot be completed?

Re: Client-Type

2008-01-23 Thread Opela, Gary L Contr OC-ALC/ITMA
Good idea. I tried this, but it returned O as the client type, which is
really the client type returned whenever there is no client type.
Referencing the ar.h file:

/* client Id for an API program */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_UNKNOWN 0
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_PRE_50  1  /* Pre 5.0 ar client
tools */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_WAT 2  /* Windows admin tool
*/
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_WUT 3  /* Windows user tool
*/
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_WIP 4  /* Windows import tool
*/
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_DSO 5  /* Distributed server
*/
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_ODBC6  /* ARODBC */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_APPROVAL7  /* Approval server */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_WEB_SERVER  8  /* AR web server,
waserver */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_MID_TIER9  /* Mid-tier 5.0 and
later */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_PALM_PILOT 10  /* Palm pilot */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_FLASHBOARDS11  /* Flashboards */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_FLASHBOARDS_MID_TIER   12  /* Flashboards
mid-tier */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_EIE13  /* Enterprise
Integration */
  /*  Engine
*/
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_RELOAD 14  /* arreload */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_CACHE  15  /* arcache */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_DIST   16  /* ardist */
#define AR_CLIENT_TYPE_RUN_MACRO  17  /* runmacro */
.
.
.
.
.

So, it looks like that remedy cannot see the client-type of runmacro
when you are referencing it in a filter. I would try an active link, but
you cannot fire active links via run-macro, so I would not be able to
test to see if it could see it or not.

I have been unsuccessfully trying to create an incident from sending an
email to the Requestor console interface create form
SRM:InterfaceRequestor_Create.
I have had success doing the same thing with HPD:IncidentInterface_Create. I
can submit an email with a groomed .arm file with the required fields, and
viola, an incident is created.
I get no error messages on the advanced properties of the record of the
email messages form. It seems like the email was accepted without error.
However, no record is being generated on the SRM:InterfaceRequestor_Create
form, and of course no incident is generated.
When I view the arfilter.log, It appears the filters on the
SRM:InterfaceRequestor_Create form are not firing at all, but should be as
the z1d_actoin field is populated with CREATE.
I am using the below .arm template for the email body. Does anyone have any
ideas/suggestions/success stories? Any and all feedback is appreciated as I
am currently bewildered.

Thanks,

Jase Brandon

Mid-Tier - The following error(s) occurred while trying to process your request

2008-01-23 Thread Tadeu Augusto Dutra Pinto
Hi people!

I created a new User (accessing User form through AR User or even Mid-Tier).
Like these:

- Login Name: user_test
- Group List: Administrator (and someone another group)
- License Type: Read
- Full Text License Type: None

P.S.: The user doesn't have password.

The screen show a information message (Note): Request "number_xxx" was
successfully created (ARNOTE 9504). <-- Until here it's alright. User
created!

But, when I try to access Mid-Tier through 'Login Page' the browser shows a
message error.

The following error(s) occurred while trying to process your request:

ARERR [612]
No such user is registered with this server

Why Is this happening??

So you are Consuming a web service (of another application) inside a
Remedy filter. When you consume a web service inside of a Filter you do
not even use the Remedy Mid-Tier. All work is from the arplugin
process.

The 401 Error is coming from the other application's web server. Check
to see what type of authentication they have installed on their web
server. It could be that they have LDAP authentication required and you
are running the Remedy server under a non Domain authenticated account.

**
Hello all,

I had a query on WebServices earlier but I thought I will reword my
question and resend it again.
Have you seen/had this error before while using a WebService filter to
send data to a remote WebService. The filter fires on Submit, so I get
the error when I modify one of the fields and hit save.

 ARERR [9130] An exception occurred from the WebService class :
(401)Unauthorized

It says at the end of the log "about to invoke" and fails with error
401! Is this the part where the plugin tries to connect to the remote
Webservice? Since the error comes after the time the SOAP message is
constructed I am assuming that this is the case.
Many thanks

I'm guessing that when you bypass the user tool to modify tickets, then
$Client-Type$ is not set, or at least runmacro doesn't know the

situation.

Re: Closing Incident from Requester Console

2008-01-23 Thread Lisa Westerfield
Oh, I see. Aside from creating additional buttons and workflow on the
Requester console, it might be worth it to investigate an email engine
solution. For example, the resolution email could be sent to the incident
owner, at which time they could respond with "Close" or "Reopen", or whatever
the appropriate status change is.

This is assuming you use the Email Engine today.

Other than changing business process, that's my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your insight. The reason for wanting a quick close button
on the Requester Console is that, on our end (operating company), we
can only take the incident up to "complete/resolved" status. All of
our clients who logs their support issues on the console are the only
ones who can sign-off or "close" the issue once they feel that the
resolution we provided was acceptable. Otherwise they can re-open the
issue or cancel it (these 2 options already exist, just not the
"close" option.) Since they are clients, they will not have any access
to the Incident Management console and it would be counter-productive
for us if the client would keep calling us/sending us email requesting
to close the incident instead of just giving them the ability to do
so.

I can't see in the WDSL file I was given that there is a header where to
include the user/password so I am assuming the ARS system will use the account

In the ConfigGuide-630 Page-217, it states that
==
This window (Wbservice user/password fields) provides a text fields in which to
 enter a user name and password
for authentication when accessing web services.
For published web services used by AR System, user information such as user
name, password, and domain name are passed to the service through Simple

There is no default value for these fields.

Further on it says:

Anonymous Password: Enter a password to use with web services. This field must

I have MidTier 7.0.1 Patch 005 set up on all of our MidTier servers.
(Windows 2003). They are configured all the same, but when I try to
look for the Config GUI for Tomcat, it's nowhere to be found on three of

the Apache services running so I know it's installed. I installed
Tomcat from the Remedy's Mid Tier installation. =20

Does anyone have any idea how I can get the configuration GUI to work?
I'd like to change the java heap size on the other three MidTier

ITSM Data Management Tool--Part II

2008-01-23 Thread McClure, Don
Abstract: Further precautions users should observe concerning this product.

Full Disclosure: Additional notes on usage of ITSM Data Management Tool (DMT),
as used in ARS7x/ITSM7y/CMDB2.z

- Handling of individual sheets relies on an Excel function to find
indefinite limit of user-entered data (colloquially, lower-right corner). Most
individual sheets require a 'status' field as the far-right column: an integer
'1' is required for entry to be regarded as 'Enabled'. Functionality has
mis-behaved on my destkop if this is text rather than integer-function to find
'lower-right' corner allowed individual rows to be duplicated or deleted
non-compliant with user input
- 'Location' spreadsheet requires user data inputs those specifically
identified in workbook directions.Any company to be mentioned on sheet 5
SIT:SiteCompany Association, must also be listed in 04:Sit:SiteGroup AND 03:
CTM:Region for region- and site-group to be considered valid for that
site:company relationship.
- Holiday Dates: ITSM-target form expects date as mm/dd/yy only-no
four-digit year, and all months/dates must have TWO digits. Excel often
truncates the leading zeros for month and day; import of the resulting *csv
could leave six-digit dates which will validate in staging form-but not promote
to underlying target (potentially filling arerror.log with 'data error'-type
entires!)

Again-user beware!!

IEspell works well ( http://www.iespell.com/ ). The only problem is that it is
free for personal use but you have to pay for a corporate solution. Could get
into licensing issues. I think that Firefox is the better solution though.

We rolled out the Remedy 7.01 AR System and ITSM 7.02 applications this
Sunday. Among the issues that are being reported following our
production rollout was the fact that Incident tickets, change tickets
(CRQ tickets), and Task tickets (TAS records) cannot be printed out from
the web using the "Print Ticket" button on the either the HPD:Help Desk,
CHG:Infrastructure Change, or TMS:Task form. Further investigation
showed that the reason is that the Print Ticket reports in ITSM 7 are in
fact Crystal Reports and Crystal Reports cant be run from the web unless
Crystal Enterprise 11 (or Business Objects 11 server) needs to be setup
with a Remedy ODBC driver and connected to the Remedy Mid Tier.

Since that route entails days and days of work with other teams, I went
the route of changing the code that runs on the Print Ticket button and
created a AR System style report to use for this button.

The new AR System style of the report works on the Remedy user client
but when I attempt to run it from the web using Mid Tier 7.01 patch 005
I receive a strange pop up window for the report with just the
following:

Index: 34, Size: 34

I cant get the report to show basically as I would expect. All my
efforts to correct this have not been successful.

Can you anyone help with this? I have users all over that are reporting
this and all I can tell them now is to run it from the Remedy user
client but many users are very dependant on using the web.

AR version 6.3. netcool version 7.1.

what we are attempting to do is setup a standby server. So the gateway

updated:

nco_pa.conf
G_REMEDY.conf

Although, I have not seen the exact error, I have seen something similar
a while back and am wondering something has changed in your gateway
configuration files which is causing this error. The error reporting
mechanism is not un to the mark in this product. If you can provide more
details on what you changed in the configuration offline, I can take a

When you removed the field from Form A, did you remove the field from
all views on Form A? Usually it is because the field is only removed on
a single view in the form so the field still exists. To remove a field
from a form you must remove it from all views on that form.

On form A fo in with the Admin tool and check Form -> Current View ->
Fields in View. Look in the Fields Not in View list. If they exist
there then that means they are still on the form, just not in this view.

ARERR [9130] An exception occurred from the WebService class : (401)Unauthorized

2008-01-23 Thread Frex Popo
Hello all,

  I had a query on WebServices earlier but I thought I will reword my question
and resend it again.
  Have you seen/had this error before while using a WebService filter to send
data to a remote WebService. The filter fires on Submit, so I get the error
when I modify one of the fields and hit save.

 ARERR [9130] An exception occurred from the WebService class :
(401)Unauthorized

It says at the end of the log "about to invoke" and fails with error 401! Is
this the part where the plugin tries to connect to the remote Webservice? Since
the error comes after the time the SOAP message is constructed I am assuming
that this is the case.
  Many thanks

Re: Reconciling form defs vs. DB views?

2008-01-23 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
When you removed the field from Form A, did you remove the field from
all views on Form A? Usually it is because the field is only removed on
a single view in the form so the field still exists. To remove a field
from a form you must remove it from all views on that form.

On form A fo in with the Admin tool and check Form -> Current View ->
Fields in View. Look in the Fields Not in View list. If they exist
there then that means they are still on the form, just not in this view.

I have a join form joining primary form A and secondary form B. I
deleted some fields from form A a while back, but when I go to add
fields to the join form, the fields I deleted are on the list of fields
I can add. I checked form A and form B for these fields and they are
not there. I looked at the underlying database views and tables and the
fields are there, but they don't show up when I view the forms in the
Admin tool. How can I reconcile this difference?

Thanks,

Thanks Julie and Misi, your solution worked great!

Now I just have to go in and turn on Modify-All so it will work (since
it sounds like you cannot do a single modify operation within the macro,
which kind of makes sense).

Hi Julie,

You are right about Modify-All being the only way to uptade a ticket.

1. Start Macro Recording
2. Open your form in search mode
3. Enter an advanced search of ('1' = "$Reguest$")
4. Choose Action -> Modify All
5. Enter valus or $xxx$ in the fields you want to update
6. Press Save
7. Save your Macro

Before the days of Push-Fields, we did this all the time. We created a
filter that executed the user-tool on the server, which in turn executed
a
macro that updated whatever we wanted to update... I like Push-Fields
;-)

Re: Opening Remedy User from cmd.exe

2008-01-23 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

One way would be to create a file called temp.artask with the following
content:
[Shortcut]
Name = $formName
Type = 0
Server = $serverName
Ticket = $requestId

Replace the $xxx fields with the value you want.

Another way would be to record a macro that searches for a specific record
with a $requestid$ variable. You can then start user.exe with parameters
to start that macro.

You can also create a Windows executable that opens the record in Remedy
User through OLE. Details are found in the API-programming guide.

Just a wag... but look in this file for any references to that old IP...

/WEB-INF/classes/config.properties

If you need to edit the file... stop the mid-tier... edit the file...
then start the mid-tier again.

RE : Re: Error while running webservice on ITSM7

2008-01-23 Thread Frex Popo
I would say start by checking if the arplugin executable in the armonitor file
has not been hashed out. Then have a quick check to see if the ar.cfg/ar.conf
file has all the Java classes (a list of these should be in the manual) as well
as the webservice.dll plugin.
  As already mentioned set the Plugin-log-level to 100 and enable the
arplugin.log it would probably show more information ..
  I remember I had seen this error once and it was due to the remedy server not
able to access the webservice through a Proxy Server..
  Do you have LDAP configured as well?

Java API: "historyTag" in ARQualifierHelper

2008-01-23 Thread Hugo Visser
Hi,

I'm porting some pre-7.1 Java code to the 7.1 API (edplus actually) and I'm
wondering what the history tag should be in the generateFieldMaps function
of the ARQualifierHelper.
In the current version of edplus (
http://edplus.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/com/expertdesk/edplus/EntryIterator.java)
I set this parameter to "tag", but that might indicate that I didn't know
what the tag was for at that time and that it slipped through later.

So any suggestions on this?
