Hi Abhi, 

It is possible but you need to push the incident status along with worklog 
update in HPD:WorkLog.
So as soon as activelink push worklog entry to HPD:Worklog, You just need to 
pass Status in a custom field.

After that you can map it in WebService SetField action in filter.

We run Remedy as totally customized on Solaris and Oracle.  For about the last 
10 years, there is a filter associated with our Help Desk form that performs a 
notify to our maintenance contract vendor, via email, to repair our faulty 
equipment.  In the text of the Notify action, I basically have 3 fields:  1) 
$Requester Data$ – which is a concatenation of Name, Phone, Address, City, Zip, 
etc. of the requester, 2) $Equipment Data$ - which is a concatenation of Asset 
Tag, Serial Number, Description, Model, Purchase Date, etc. and 3) the Short 
Description of the problem.  The $Requester Data$ and $Equipment Data$ fields 
are populated by an AL when the lookup occurs for the requester and for the 
equipment.

Last month, we upgraded from 7.6.4 to 8.1.2.  Even though $Requester Data$ and 
$Equipment Data$ are listed in the text of the notify, they show up blank in 
the email.
What the notify used to look like (and what it should be now):

In subsequent testing, I can create the same information if I list the fields 
individually – with the exception of the Purchase Date.  This field comes from 
another field of the type Timestamp, where I have set the field as 
DATE($Purchase Date) to strip off the time of day.  It seems that concatenating 
or running a Function to create a value in a field causes the Notify to ignore 
that field when it generates the email message.  Can anyone shed some light on 
this issue?

We faced one issue related to mailbox config in 9.1 but not sure if its related 
to this. In our env after upgrade of ARS mails were staying in email messages 
with status Yes instead of sent. The same configuration was working in 8.1 SP2. 
Finally we got to know from BMC that there is some defect in email engine that 
doesn't support some auth mechanism if you have username and password populated 
in config. We then cleared out both and restarted email engine and then finally 
emails were started flowing from the system

Looks like something is wrong with the mailbox configs but these are working on 
prod. I took arx backup of mailbox configs from prod and imported on remedy 9. 
The password and user account fields are intact. Not sure what went wrong 
during import.

You can create a script which would pull the files from remote/ftp location 
into your local drive where the Spoon is installed. Then call the script within 
the job as the first step before processing the file.

You should have the list of products with manufaturer and model details.You may 
get the list  
>From hardware operations team.
Then refine your list and categorize CTI based on CI type so that you can 
import it using DMT.
If you have product catalogue that is changing frequently then you have to use 
product catalogue manage data console to update it. So do not expect full 
automation  
Once the product catalog is ready,you can create aliases for manufacturer or 
model to normalize CI in sandbox datasets.
The ready catalogue is available for ITSM usage but if you have multi tenant 
environment then you might have to add all the companies in the product 
relationahip to make it visible during ticket creation.
Do not directly import it in Prod.

I think you are consuming the web service. What is the data type of that 
attribute in WSDL definition? Is it Date Time?

I think the only way is to pass it by altering the format in character field as 
you mentioned But will the target system accept the data type as character 
field?

Or do we have anythink in remedy to get universal date time in UTC format. I 
think other languages can be used to convert like javascript but then how to 
pass it in a filter.

offset, but the vendor I am working with says that I should not send an offset.
 
So the problem is that my date value might look like this:

But the vendor says it should look like this:

I’m not aware of any way to change that within Remedy, nor will the Filter 
workflow allow me to map a date attribute on the WSDL to a character field in 
Remedy.

Hi,

I have worked on row level access where company A can not see incidents of
company B. To do that you have to do customization very carefully so that
it doesnt break other functionality which is dependent on that.
You can work with two fields , 112 and 60900 which is used for row level
access. there are few workflows which sets the company permission group ids
into this fields and you can have look at the logs and alter the workflow
based on you need.

We are finally getting to upgrade our 7.6.04 SP5 servers.  I’m not sure about 
going all the way to 9 just yet so I’m targeting 8.1.2 for now.

When I run the installer to upgrade on a test server I get the following error:

Before I contact support does anyone know what setting(s) I need to change to 
allow the install to go thru?

The setup has been running since at least 2011   
We are using Oracle 11g   
   From the query:  select value from v$nls_parameters where upper(parameter) = 
'NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET';   
   It appears we have the database running as   AL16UTF16

The AR System app servers are on Red-Hat Linux and have:   
   LANG=C   
   LC_ALL=C   
   (There is no environment variable set for NLS_LANG)

An arsystem env reports the following:   
   CLIENT_LOCALE=en_us.8859-1   
   LANG=C   
   LC_ALL=C   
   ORA_NLS=/apps/remedy/oracle/product/11.2.0/nls/data

Since we are in the US we know there is no multi-byte data in the database.  

I think the way we got into this was:   
   System was installed as ARS 7.1, Oracle Client 10, Oracle Server 10g (on 
remote server)   
   System was upgraded to ARS 7.6.04, Oracle Client 11, Oracle Server 10g (on 
remote server)   
   Database was upgraded to Oracle 11g  (by installing new Oracle instance on 
new db server, Oracle DataPump to move data over, server alias moved to new db 
server). No changes to ARS app or Oracle Client.

in udm:config. so that server will be picked up during creation of

Have you applied the performance running paramters as suggested by BMC for 
oracle db? 

There are many reasons for  slowness in creation/modification of an entry and 
your remedy admin can help you out in debugging this things

This is ARS/ITSM 8.01.02.  Platform, etc, not relevant at this time.
 
We are pursuing a new configuration for multi-tenancy.  We've worked with BMC 
and this actually works quite well in our proof of concept.  So far we have...
 
1.   Added MFS+FTS search to Corporate ID in the People form
2.   Configured new operating companies x 6.
3.   Created support groups under those companies
4.   All People (including all support staff) have their People General 
tab company set to Company 1.
5.   All support staff have access restrictions to which company support 
incidents they can see (no one except admins have unrestricted access).
 
(it should be noted that the system was configured so the companies under #2 
were made support companies for Company 1 - check the support company 
association form for more info).
 
So now my problem is simply procedural - I need to update 450+ users and change 
the following:
· Access restrictions - users get assigned to one or more companies, 
old company is removed
· Group Assignment - users need to get removed from current groups and 
put into new groups
 
I do have the group of users affected, so I suspect this is possible.  Is there 
some way to do this with the DMT?

The field is OOTB or custom?

Actually I m not at my desk so couldn't check the exact option but we do have 
Many options in String Operations transform to modify the string values. Have 
you checked there?

You can use java in spoon  to modify the character set or set the default 
character set of input stream and write it to output stream  I guess if you are 
really thinking its the issue.

Yeah double byte chars was my first guess too. The problem, is that I don't see 
anything like that in the log. Of course,  like I said, could just be some 
non-printable trash, then I'd never see it.
In any other programming environment,  I'd put a filter on the input to catch 
trash like that and discard it, but I don't see anything at all in spoon that'd 
let me do that.
Anyone out there know how to do that sort of thing with spoon?
I guess my work-around here, is just have AI write to clobs all the time on 
bogus landing forms, use workflow to truncate the values, then send it off to 
where it really needs to go? 
Is that really how everyone else is dealing with this? I have to be missing 
something ... this seems too fishy ...

Hi everyone,
I know this isn't strictly ARS, but I thought I'd ask here.
AI has me pulling my hair out, and at this rate, I'll be bald by friday.
I have a pretty basic job. It queries an ldap server and writes what it finds 
into a landing form. 
Because the data on the ldap server is pretty dirty, I'm using the Strings 
cut node to truncate all the data so it'll fit in my fields.
And indeed this seems to work. Until it doesn't work.
The log shows that ARERR 306 is encountered,  because I've tried to set a 
too-long value on a field and it gives me the field id.
Sure enough,  I am truncating the data mapped to that field to the length of 
the field. 
I think, well maybe the indexing isn't really as advertised, so I truncate 
the field to 1 less char than the max length of the field. No good. What the 
hell, I go for 2 less. Still no good.
I insert a write to log right before the AROutput step just to verify, and 
yes indeed,  there is not one value too long going into the AROutput.
Ok, so maybe some workflow on the server is doing it? Nope! Disabled all the 
workflow, and just to be damn sure, I checked the skip workflow processing 
check box on the AROutput node.
still throws the error.
Ok, just to be sure, turned on filter logging. Not a darn thing firing. The 
arserver does not seem to be throwing the error!
Ok. In desperation, I set 0 length on the field in question. Boom, it works.
So after the job is done, I check to see what the longest value that got wrote 
to that field was. 
It is, exactly as it should be. Nothing longer than the max length set on 
Strings cut ... which is to say, two characters less than the previous length 
of the field.
What the hell?
Only thing I can think of is maybe there's some kinda garbage non-printable 
ascii on the input that throws kettle's length detection for a loop? If so, I 
don't really see any kind of charset conversion or anything I could use to 
filter it.
I'm on 8.1.01 ... anyone ever run into anything like this before?

You can set the field with email id when user clicks on check box(with semi 
colon) and then when you click on OK write notify filter that uses TO as the 
field containing all the email ids

Is there a specific reason for redirecting it to http traffic and not going 
with https? With https its working smooth for me. 

We have both the sso nodes running on https. But the F5 LB SAN  signed  
certificate handles all the encryption.

complete HA environment.  We already have the load balancers configured for 
MidTier and ARS, but are having issues with the configuration for Atrium SSO.  
We are using F5 load balancers and the team responsible for the load balancers 
here wishes to have the F5 handle all SSL traffic, and redirect in http only to 
the SSO nodes.  However, we cannot get SSO to work with only http…attempts to 
reconfigure Tomcat to serve the page have resulted in failures (and forced a 
reinstall of the Atrium SSO product).  The F5 team rightly point out that this 
would mean that first the F5 encrypts, then the server encrypts again, which is 
inefficient.  Does anyone have SSO setup in a similar config, and if so, can 
you provide any information as to how to handle the redirect, and/or how to 
configure Atrium SSO to successfully handle non-https traffic?

You can capture the API,FLTR and SQL logs and analyze the timing out API calles 
using AR Log Analyzer tool online.

This helped me a lot identifying the various timeout issues.

correct view.  The customer is not too happy with that option because he feels 
it should automatically bring him to the correct search window.

Hi,

This is OOTB as it uses a hard coded SRD for each fulfillment application.

You have to customize in such a way, it can pick up the different internal SRD 
based on the tenant under which incident is created and then in turn SRD can 
have tenant specific surveys n questions.

Others might have different apporach than mine. Would like to hear from them

You can raise this as an idea also in communities as many customers like you 
are requesting this.

SRM Surveys have been successfully turned on.

My question is regarding SRM Surveys  Multi-Tenancy. The issue I have is the 
inability to use separate Survey Questions by Company in our Multi-Tenancy 
environment. 

I know that singularly, a Survey can be attached to a SRD but only our customer 
users submit a request from the Request Entry Console using SRDs.  All other 
Incidents are submitted by analyst using the Incident form. The Service Desk 
Incident, which allows every Incident to create a Service Request, allows for 
only a single -Global- Survey to be selected. 

Does anyone know if it is possible to setup a Service Desk Incident by Company 
so that Survey control belongs to each Company? Your assistance is greatly 
appreciated.

 I need some help please. I am busy setting up atrium SSO in my environment and 
cannot seem to get the final steps working. The atrium SSO installation went 
through with no errors and I have successfully added a user store to our remedy 
application server (Version 8). I know this is working because in the Users and 
Groups sections I can see my remedy usernames and groups being pulled through.
 I have also setup Kerberos Authentication with a Flag of Sufficient and the 
Profile as Dynamic. However when I test the SSO solution and I have a direct 
URL to the SRM console, it opens the page however it doesn't authenticate me. 
The Welcome message on the top right corner of SRM is empty whereas it would 
usually say Welcome Joe Soap. It also complains about permissions which 
confirms my thoughts.
 I currently only have one web server (Also version 8) integrated to the Atrium 
SSO which I did by following the instructions in the installation guide and 
running the SSOMidtierIntegation application - also which installed with no 
errors.
 Once thing I did notice is that if I look in Atrium SSO under the Sessions 
section, I can see my username in there however it is in the format of 
'userid@domain'.
So it is j...@abc.com' which doesn't match my remedy usernames which is just 
'joes'.
Basically I need to strip out the domain information from the userid in Atrium 
SSO and I have looked at all config settings and cannot find anything anywhere.
 I did see under the Kerberos settings that there is a option for Use Domain 
name with Principal however that is not enabled at all.
 Does anyone know how Atrium SSO gets the user information from the web server 
and how I can change the format of that information before it reaches the SSO 
server ?

But we have many options in Dev studio 8.x like Granular overlays, Overlays
in Object properties etc. This options will be available based on ARS
version or Dev studio version?

If those options are available based on Dev studio version then it might be
confusing for them if they are not aware what this properties can do.

Even I was using 8.0 Dev studio against 8.1.01 ARS version and I was not
able to align the fields properly with older dev studio version so this
small small things will not work i guess due to version mismatch.

Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

Yes..cache curruption we faced in sp2 same like u ...

We upgraded to sp3 as per bmc

But because of sp3 we faced cache rebuilding and long time to rebuild..

Now all the  cache related issues are sorted out after SP4 and latest hotfix

Hi,

We have installed ITSM using root user because root user have all access
permissions and there is no restriction for us from Linux Admin.

We are not facing any problem.

But You have to manually export or enter all export entry in .profile file
in linux like LD_LIBRARY_PATH,ORACLE_HOME,TWO_TASK, etc. for Installation.

To install as a non root user you have to follow some steps before
installing as suggested in BMC docs.

 We have ARS 7.6.04 sp3 with CMDB 7.6.04 SP3.

 Can we install ITSM 7.6.04 SP2  or we need to Install 7.6.04 SP4 ?
