Re: [blind-gamers] Help with muds.
That would make sense. When I've seen MSp used in the past, even in games that have a fair amount of Msp like classic six dragons, it has indeed been more of an added luxury than something to convey specific information, indeed games like Materiamagica are largely silent and just have the odd sound for special events. There are certainly a few MSP sounds suitable for inclusion in Mush-z. However, you need a very different set of standards when building something that's entirely sound based, as opposed to having sound as an add-on capability. Mush-z builds a world in sound. Msp is a nice feature in an existing one built of text. Also, MSP came after Mush-z, as far as I know. -- From: "Travis Siegel" Sent: Friday, June 15, 2018 11:13 To: Subject: Re: [blind-gamers] Help with muds. Re: [blind-gamers] What is your favorite MUD and MUD client?
I admit I was less of a fan of cyber asault, maybe it was that I missed most of the newbie area, or maybe its that combat is stupidly fast and rather difficult without a soundpack etc, or maybe its just that the writing appealed to me less, a shame, since scifi exploration muds seem much rarer. Well, over the years, my favorite muds have changed.? When I was just a newbie in the mud scene, (back in the early 90s), I really liked a mud called darkwind, one that was still running a few years ago when I last logged in, but it seems to be gone now. These days though, I really like 3K (3k.org), since it is one I also played in the 90s, and it is still around, and still going very strong, and they do have some help for the visually impaired user. I also very much like their guild selections.? One of my characters is a changeling, one is a cyborg, and on 3scapes (the sister mud to 3k), I have a juggernaut character. Another mud I used to enjoy thoroughly was lostsouls (lostsouls.org), because of it's amazing race selection and it's skill sets.? Unfortunately, I quit playing that one a few years ago when they expanded the world to the point of uselessness. Sure, it's nice to have thousands and thousands of rooms to stroll around in, but when you're wandering around for hours and can't find a damned thing, it's time to go find something else to do. Lostsouls is a mud I'd also been playing since the mid 90s, and although I really love the mud, I just can't handle the fact that since the world expanded it now takes three times as long to get anywhere, and that's assuming you know exactly where said place is.? If you don't, and you need to look for it, just forget it, you'll never find it.? If they'd put the world map back to how it used to be, I'd pick up playing there in a heartbeat, but I've got better things to do than spend long stretches of time getting from place to place even when I know exactly where I need to go, but I sure can't see how running around for (sometimes) hours trying to find a place you've already been hundreds of times helps anybody, least of all the player accomplish anything.? So, I just quit playing there, and have no intention of going back, despite the fact that I think their skill system is the best I've ever seen in all my mudding time. I do play alter aeon, and I like it well enough, it's skill system is pretty decent, and while I've tried aardwolf, I'm not a big fan of their environment, though I do log in there once in a while to remind myself why I don't play there regularly.? I've found a few other muds where I play once in a while, but I don't play anything regularly except for 3K and Alter Aeon.? If I can find another mud like lostsouls, then I'd be there fairly regularly, but until then, I'll just stick with empiremud, 3k, and alter aeon.? Those suit my purposes for the time being. I'd even settle for the original apple II source code, as I could port that to windows easily enough, but I come up empty every time I look for an accessible version playable on the pc. Now, to be clear, I have no desire to play the game myself, I was just figuring if I could come across a version that could be adapted to run on the pc that had all the original bits in it, I'd take a stab at said conversion, but no such luck. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group. Hi Damien. Just as someone who used Xp for a very long time and only switched when it was inconvenient, I can say I've got on with windows 10 fairly well, since between using classic shell to layout the interface as i'd prefer, and C cleaner to get rid of anything I@m not interested in I've found it actually an easier experience than my attempts with windows 7, not to mention generally more stable. One other thing I will say about Windows defender, is that its fairly good at respecting your exceptions folder, so even if it does object to BGT at the second its fairly easy to get around, though I have made philip Bennifall aware of this problem and asked if he'd contact microsoft. of course your welcome to do as you like computer wise, but as someone who made a lot of assumptions about windows 10 before actually trying it, let alone customising the thing, I thought I would put a word in on this debate. Game play is going to be quite different. BGT is OK for what it is. Unfortunately it's got its limits. For me the major issues with it are the lack of multi-threading, There's going to be a fair bit of background processing going on in City Boss which would make the game feel very sluggish if it was all single threaded. The lack of full proper 3d audio, particularly positional audio that moves around the listener as they change direction and the performance, it's just not quite quick enough for what I'm after. I'd love to see BGT get an update, mainly to see if the anti-virus issue could be resolved as it's great for quickly pulling a project together but personally for me I think I've hit its limits. There were things I wanted to do in Tube Sim which I really had to cludge together in BGT that could have been done easier with a more complete language. As a day job I'm a c++ software engineer and it's been my main professional language for about 13 years now so it was the obvious way to go for me for City Boss. I'm using a couple of other third party libraries. FMOD for sound, an epic 3d audio library with all sorts of fun bells and whistles. I'm also using SDL, a library for simple 2d graphics, multi-threading, eventing and input. If only I had more time to spend on City Boss, at the moment it’s a bit slow going. Thanks. Re: [blind-gamers] games about food and cooking
Hi Travis. Take a look at Aprone's lunimals, which basically had the same idea with eco system management instead of farms. the way to make that sort of game interesting is with lots of levels, acheivements, tasks to do etc and progressive measures in gameplay that let you progress. For example, just because you can grow carrots on level one doesn't mean they're the best! carrots you can possibly grow, so maybe an achievement could involve growing and harvesting several generations of carrots flawlessly in order to improve the quality of your carrots (while protecting them from weeds, floods, ravenous goats etc). Another idea might be to go the crafting kingdom route and have you need to buy different luxury achievement or estate items to win the game, for which you need to grow and sell increasingly better quality plants in increasingly different varieties. Another might be tasks to grow certain combinations of things, for example suppose an Italian chef was making a special meal and requested yu provide good quality garlic, tomatoes and bazel as ingredients. Hth. As I said I love the idea of this style of game so definitely keep on with things. The way it works now is after you plant a vegitable (no fruits yet), you have to wait a number of seconds (roughly equivalent to how many days it would take in rl) before you can harvest the plants. There's of course background music for each level, and sounds for various things, (reaching the side of the garden plor, finishing tasks, and so on). I do plan to add a market, (currently, you can't do anything with the plnats once you harvest them except plant them again. Of course, harvesting them is necessary to complete the tasks for each level, and even after the market is added, that's only going to add minimal color to the game, there's still not a whole lot to do, which is why I kind of stopped fiddling with it for the last week or so, I honestly can't for the life of me think of anything to do with it to make it interesting. Floods, drauts, storms, thieves, wild animals and so on could certainly add spice, and are almost certainly going to be necessary before the game is really playable, but still, I don't see the point of just sitting there growing and harvesting plants. On a phone/tablet, it's a nice way to pass the time, watching your garden grow over time, but on the pc, it's just boring, and I can't think of anyway to spice it up beyond making it more difficult, but then nobody wants to play it. Perhaps, that's why there aren't any of these sorts of games on the pc. Re: [blind-gamers] games about food and cooking
Hi Travis. Actually I'd love a game like this and have been thinking about design and suggestions. The first is variation. In reality, farming isn't just a matter of planting things and waiting, or even just remebering to add water every so often. You need to watch out for pests, perhaps irrigate the land if there is too much rain, or add extra water for too much sun, weed the garden whilst making sure not to pull up your plants etc, plus of course there are different sorts of soil conditions and such that affect different plants. If anyone has ever played the gardening minigame in four dimensions mud you'll get an idea of this. Basically games are fun when the player is engaged and need to use their judgement about certain conditions. So for example, suppose you have a field with carrots in the north and onions in the south. Well you look at your north field and find weeds growing there. Okay, you need to take the time to pull out the weeds, however while your doing this there is a lot of rain. Your carrots will be okay in watery soil, but your onions need dryer conditions so you'll need to alternate your time between weeding in the north and shoveling a bit of sand in the south. The problem though is your spending so much time weeding that your at best only able to fulfill a holding action for your onions which are rapidly becomming water logged as the rainy weather continues, so you use some of your limited funds to buy weed killer which will ease off the weeding so you can concentrate more on drying the soil for your onions, as you hope that if you grow enough onions you can recoop the cost of your weedkiller. This is the sort of thing I mean by judgement and reaction, give you changing conditions that affect your crops and require you to spend time and resources in the game making those judgements. hth and I really hope your gardening game gets finished. Okay John, I can then update the download in the audiogames.net db as well. To be honest I played the demo at the time, but wasn't as much of a fan. Basically you had to buy resorces and then hope the gods of random generation were nice to you in generating a price that was low enough to buy, and you didn't really have enough stock room to buy different sorts of resources. Also the game really should have had either internet connectivity or computer opponents, since i'm afraid I found playing on my own rather dull. Hi. What I've done myself is create a folder on my c drive called audiogames which I've made an exception from windows defender scanning where I can install things like Crazy party, and I can say it's worked very well indeed, far better than exceptions used to work under Avg in fact. To make an exceptions folder, open windows defender by hitting the "actions recommended" button in the notification area, then find "antivirus" and hit the "antivirus settings" button. After this tab to the "exceptions" button and then find "add exception" you can select a process, file type, file or folder, obviously if you want to make a folder an exception you select that and browse to itt. hth. i confess I was a little narked when I saw windows defender doing this, and I had quite the hunt to find the settings, but once I did sort out the exceptions it's been %100 fine. Actually interactive fiction interpreters tend to be very well maintained and exist for all modern platforms, Macand Ios as well as Windows, so you should have no problem playing if games in formats like zcode and tads on a modern machine, actually there's a pretty cool Nvda addon that reads text output in many if interpreters very well that I tried recently. Tom has been on my mind recently too. He was one of the first people to say hi to me back in 2006 when I joined the audeasy list, and we had a lot of chats, here, on the audiogames.net forum, and on the Usagames list too. obviously with him being the administrator of audeasy and me being in charge of audiogames.net we frequently talked about moderation matters, but we also discussed a lot of other things, especially in terms of Christianity and science, relationships and the differences between America and Britain. I would love to tell him that I'm now married to an American, visually impared none loopy christian, I think he'd have quite a lot to say and I'd love to have had his opinion. it seems odd to miss someone I never spoke to in person, though as we probably communicated daily at least for close to ten years it's not so surprising. Re: [blind-gamers] Hunting and fishing games for the blind.
I remember Sega used to have a very silly, but extremely fun arcade style sea bass fishing game which would translate well onto an Iphone. The controller was a device with a real (a handle to turn), and a rod that moved up down left and right. First, you began by casting your line, which you needed to get precisely right, then various fish would pass across the screen from left to right and you’d need to jiggle your lure to get their interest, once you’d hooked a fish you had to real at the correct speed. I could imagine this working on the Iphone fairly well. First, cast yourrod precisely by tilting your phone dowards making sure there was neither too much power so you create a great splash and scare the fish, or too little power so that your rod landed on the bank. Next, listen for the splashing sounds of an oncoming fish, and when centered, start to move the phone forward back left and right to move the lure enough to attract the fish. If the fish bights (which could depend upon the movement speed of the lure as well as the type of bat eused, different types of fishing requiring different bates and speeds), then you’d need to real it in which would mean a precise rotor motion on the screen, too quickly and the fish would snap the line, too slowly it’d get away. Btw, I know nothing at all about fishing, I just recall my brother playing the Sega sea bass fishing in the arcade and thinking it looked a really cool and quite fun game to play . I’m having a similar problem over here. The mouse looking seems super! Sensitive, so much that if I move the mouse a centimetre, I hear about 10 different objects, it also doesn’t help that you can seemingly look through things like fenses, hedges etc, or that frequently what is in front of you has an annoying habbit of changing, and the ctrl s and d commands only seem to work some of the time. # I’d love to get into the game, but navigating around the town is just proving a pest at the moment, though admittedly I haven’t spent too long with the game yet. Re: [blind-gamers] Entombed is now free for all.
Hi Milo. Actually, 40 usd isn’t a laughing matter for lots of people in developed countries either, I certainly don’t have that sort of cash to throw around generally (particularly at the moment when moving house and having lots of practical utility type bills). That aside though, one thing to remember is that when you buy a game you are investing in the developer as much as in the product itself. It’s one thing if the developer has dropped off the map, isn’t making games anymore and is just raking in cash off their previous work while offering no updates, but frequently while your buying game number one, game number 2 is in development, indeed it’s the very fact that so many people have bought Jason alan’s sadly inaccessible graphical mobile games which means he can offer Entombed for free. So if buying entombed gets us a little closer to entombed ii I’m all for it myself,. Actually I had a very similar situation with tarzan junior, which I bought back in 2006, and became free about a year later, but look at what Philip Bennifall went on to do. All the be best, Dark. Hey Dark, I get your point completely and I can't say that you are not right as those are the facts. But it is one thing to live in the UK or in the US and another to live in a developed country. The difference is that, for many if not most people in the UK or US, buying a game is like paying for a cup of coffee, while here buying a game is an investment. No problem if a game is 2 or 3 dollars, at least for me, for someone else it also can be a big issue, but if I spent 40 dollars on a game just to see it free after a few monthhs, I hope you can imagine my feelings. I get the technical issues, but the question is, when and how can they conflict with some ethical issues. Best, Miloš - Original Message - From: dark To: blind-gamers@groups.io Sent: Thursday, December 28, 2017 03:26 AM Subject: Re: [blind-gamers] Entombed is now free for all. Hi Milo. I’m afraid I must disagree completely. Lots of people (including me), bought lots of games back in the day that are now free, superliam, judgement day,Bsc titles etc. However if the status had remained paid nobody would’ve been able to get hold of them when they were no longer on sale. The fact is software updates, requirements change and developers cannot always keep their games uptodate with the latest operating system changes. Of course, there are plenty of compatibility fixes and the like that mean people can still play them, (indeed this is one of Jim Kitchin’s greatest contributions to this community, since without him getting a lot of older titles including his to run on windows 7-10, would be far more difficult), it gets harder and harder for developers to keep them up to date. This is why Q9 ended up being sold off to an unscrupulous hack , and why games like the original Klango pirate memnory game are not available anymore. Contrast the situation on’ windows and Ios. Judgement day celibrated it’s tenth anniversary the other day, and there are people who are new to this community who downloaded and played it this year. On the other hand, games like the pappasangre 1 and 2, Solara and soul trapper which are barely 7 years old are now utterly inaccessible thanks to Apple’s closed development system , people’s inability to maintain the games when their life circumstances change, and the fact that the games can no longer be bought. And of course, don’t forget that just because one game from a developer is free, it doesn’t mean that developer drops off the Map. Ian is still producing games now which I will certainly support, and Jason Alan of Entombed is going on to work on a sequel which will likely be bigger, badder, better and also a paid game. As someone who was around with Entombed’s development from the very beginning, was a private alpha tester, contributed ideas and moderated the entombed mailing list, I’m really happy people will be able to go on enjoying the game for years to come. Re: [blind-gamers] Free games, etc.
Actually, I was very surprised myself how many xp titles do! Work under windows 10, to say that this was one of my major worries about losing xp. The only windows games I’ve found that don’t work at all (not counting games originally written for Dos like fallthru), are most of the bsc games, though Hunter does still work. All you need to do is first install Jim Kitchin’s games since they come with all the needed dependencies, which is again a wonderful legacy Jim has left us. Then, just to be absolutely sure, install any of Aprone’s games, eg castaways, swamp, pawprints etc and run the checkup file. After that, everything should be fine. I love the fact I can still enjoy games like Judgement day, and pinball xtreme as I used to, quite apart from all the new titles coming out. All the best, Dark.

Hi Paul. Unfortunately while I am still a postgrad, my doctorate actually finishes in may so trying to fiddle around with student discounts probably wouldn’t work. I’ll have a look at downloading the amazon video thing and seeing what is available. I do have stuff from Blind mice audio described that I like to do with my wife, but sometimes I do like the graphics too, although given the choice I prefer both . Since I’ll probably be ordering from them in future it is something I am considering, but I have to find decent bennifits first not connected to their ridiculous music system. All the best, Dark. I’m actually in the UK to, I do have amazon prime to, I actually find it really handy since I order so much stuff from amazon, so I’ve saved a small fortune on delivery charges over the years. Although I’ve got prime video , I’ve never used it, since the blind mice website has such a big collection of audio described tv shows and films all audio described , I tend to just watch everything from there. With the prime video though, I’m not sure, but I think if you download the app it will let you search the store to see what’s there but it just won’t let you watch it unless you have the prime subscription, or at least that’s how it used to work, not sure if it still does work like that. If you are looking at getting prime, if you’re a student you get it half price, if not, and I’m not promoting anything dodgy here, but there are online courses you can sign up for and get an NUS card and therefore the prime student discount, not to mention other student discounts in other places to, there’s courses for under a tenner , so if there’s something your interested in studying anyway it’s another option. If you google NUS card for everyone, you should get some more info if your interested. Spotify is definitely better though, but like you I do like owning the actual files myself, but my iPhone storage just isn’t big enough to store all my music , so since I’m often out with the guide dog and like to listen to music when I’m out and about Spotify works well for having all the music I want at my fingertips. Re: [blind-gamers] MUDs
Hi. Alter does have keys to move and other things, and of course with the amounts of sounds and such it’s virtually an audiogame in it’s own right and is thus highly worth a go. However, bare in mind most muds don’t work like your traditional interactive fiction game. For example, instead of typing out the directions to move, you can usually just n s e w. You don’t have to type out full commands like open box with key, op bo key (or in some games op bo with key), will usually do. In some muds you can even use numbers instead, eg in one mud I know for equipping items you just look in your inventory where each item has a number by hitting I, and if sword were in slot 12 and so instead of typing out “ready sword” or something like that you could just type eq 12. It’s actually one of the things I like about muds, that the typing is far easier than in traditional if, which also usually means less of those annoying “guess the syntax” type of puzzles. Hth. I have to confess to not really playing a lot of muds for similar reasons to you as not keen on typing lots of text to play a game, but I have tried alter with mush-Z and it does seem a lot of work has been put in with hot keys for certain things and with all the built in sounds it does make it seem less like a text adventure and slightly more like an audio game. when you do get mush-Z working though, the intro to alter has a mini storyline that talks you through some of the basic commands and is really helpful, plus there is a read me file that comes with mush-z and this has a lot of helpful info if you haven’t played before along with some of the mush-z hot keys you can use in alter that will help. Muds are, yes, somewhat similar to text adventures. In this case though, there's no "guess the verb" issue, since you can type help and get a description of what it does. On alter Aeon, you play as a combination of the six classes, picking one to be your primary. Which class you choose will determine what style of character you end up with - a mage is going to have a lot of offensive spells but not a lot of health, whereas a warrior will focus on physical skills and be more sturdy. You can apply a bit of Dungeons and Dragons-esc logic to your choice, if you're familiar with that. As for the connection bit, its worth pointing out that this is not an audiogame. Its purely text-based. Muds, in their simplest form, are telnet applications. The reason people recommend mush-z is because MushClient, the program that runs it, is a really, really powerful telnet client. Its where most of the work happens: processing the text you receive from the mud and acting on it, for example to play a sound or tell you that you're injured. If you're running on windows 10, it'd probably be worthwhile for you to install mush-z to your documents folder, rather than program files. This may resolve some of the technical difficulties. I know this hasn't covered all your questions, so let me know what else you need to know, and I'll see if I can help you get up and running. Re: [blind-gamers] No more Blindfold Games or Updates
My thought on how things look is that Apple’s disagreement seems primarily due to the fact that all the blindfold games use the same menu structure for obvious reasons and Apple are objecting partly based on that fact, hence why they are not applying a reasonable standard to accessible aps. [blind-gamers] Empire mud
Hi. I have decided to give Empire mud a serious try. I tried the game back in it’s previous version a few years ago and ran into trouble, but with the awesome work the developer has put in for access I really ought to look into it further, especially considering the great maps and other resources, indeed this has been on my list of muds that need db pages for a while. For those who don’t know the game is different from most muds like Alteraeon or aardwolf in that you build an empire with your own citaizens, or join an existing one. Lots of crafting, even making buildings and roads and such. I’m just getting into things and seeing how things work, so if anyone wants to join me the name is tamarind. The connection info is empiremud.net port 4000, and the website is over on Where you can examine the help and do various other things. Hope people have fun, and for any long time players, feel free to share thoughts. All the best, Dark.

Hi. While I did complete the arcade puzzle and a couple of others in manamon I don’t recall the solution, however Jayde from audiogames.net has recorded a very comprehensive manamon guide with detailed information on all aspects of gameplay, puzzles include. Re: [blind-gamers] psycho strike
I can say as someone who used Xp for probably longer than I should have done, I am not disappointed with Windows 10, which is odd because I was less keen on windows 7 :D. Still with classic shell to get the xp style start menu and C cleaner to remove the stuff I didn’t want (something I had to equally do with new xp machines back in the day), I really haven’t had to alter what I do too much, accept now I can enjoy all available audiogames, indeed I suspect for gaming purposes these days there are probably more games that won’t run on xp than on windows 10. My only major regret with lack of Xp are the dos style console games like Fallthru, eamon deluxe etc, and I have heard there are now talking versions of Dosbox that can go some way to solving those, indeed I do hope the eamon deluxe developer gets back to me at some point in the future since we finally might have that accessible cross platform version of the games we’ve been wanting for years. Hi Steven. I’m afraid that audiogames.net doesn’t work on xp anymore. It’s something to do with the hosting service protocols that are being used. Hi david. Yes most certainly the game and site are in English, however it is possible you wound up with the Slovak version of the page instead. The English homepage is here: http://eurofly.stefankiss.sk/ If you look in the download center you will find documentation and some audio tutorials. Also remember you can find out more about the game on : http://audiogames.net/db.php?id=Eurofly Which also has links to some tutorials etc, plus a link to an article someone wrote on the audiogames.net forum’s articles room about how to get started flying. Re: [blind-gamers] Saving Files to a Thum Drive
Hi Danielle, I assume your using windows 10? Generally speaking it works the same in windows 10 as it does in any other version of windows. First, stick your thumb drive into the usb then open your downloads folder. Select the files with the arrow keys, either one at a time or by holding shift if you want a number at once, or heck if you want to select the lot hit ctrl A. Then, hit ctrl c if you want to copy the files and still leave a copy of them in downloads, or ctrl x if you want to cut them, ie, move them from downloads to your drive and not leave a copy . Then you’ll need to find your thumbdrive. First open windows explorer (you can do this by opening a folder on your desktop or just hitting windows key and e). For me since I have windows 10 set to display in lists (like I used to with xp), I just have to hit shift and tab from a folder and then march down with the arrows (or hit the first letter). I don’t know what your thumbdrive will be called but it will probably have a drive letter next to it, quite often for me when I use such things they come up as being called “Usb disk F” or “removable disk G” Once you have found it hit enter to display the drive, then hit ctrl V to paste the files you previously cut or copied, then wait a bit. One thing I have noticed in windows 10 is that unlike previous windows it does not give you the option to directly open and view the contents of a usb drive when you connect it unless you mess around in the notifications area, that is why it’s better doing it in windows explorer (and it’s always good to know where things are on your pc anyway). Hth. For windows 7 the process is nearly the same accept that windows 7 has a rather more annoying way of displaying connected drives (I actually ddislike the windows explorer layout in 7). You’ll need to go to “my computer” and it’ll show a device list, however when using either nvda or supernova it seemed nearly impossible to get these devices to display properly other than hitting the first letter of each to open it and view it’s contents, meaning you have to know the name of something before you find it which is rather silly. On the plus side, windows 7 does still have the option to open a usb derive’s contents when you connect it I believe. Hth. All the best, Dark. Re: [blind-gamers] cr4afting kingdom
Usually I tend to duplicate all boosts, though from some experimentation it seems the best boosts are bag of gold if your leaving the game idle for a bit, animal mastery if you want to make lots of cash quickly and can sit by your phone and continually sell things, or generalized production boosts if your doing a quest for a specific item, eg, master of stones when your on a quest to sell quarry products. Unfortunately, I've now completed all the current quests accept the 100 automations, which will take some time, Indeed it seems the automation quests take way longer than the others, even when selling quotas get up into the thousands. Then again, as I still have the metal parts upgrade to buy for my estate it'll be a while until i completely run out of things to do and am just buying automations for the sake of it. I've already got some storage space upgrades, but the limitation on production always! seems to be storage since you always seem to be producing more than you can store, even if you buy lots of storage upgrades and upgrade your estate to make those purchices more effective. My only problem with death on the road is after you’ve got several bonuses and the games’ progressed to a point, you get to a stage where it’s not getting any harder and you actively have to work to lose. It’d be interesting if the game got more hazards and expantions that insured it had some sort of ending, or at least a limit on the amount of bonuses you can buy son so you don’t end up with goodness knows how much health. Once your there the ring is around towards the north wall between two drips of water, you’ll hear it as an item and can collect it, Btw, if you want more precise directions, try Jayde’s manamon walkthrough, there’s a link for it on the audiogames.net manamon page. Re: [blind-gamers] new member to this list
It’s a toss up for me between beatstar pro and rhythm rage, though I did rather enjoy copter mission and death on the road for destructive value. It’s great someone is still making high quality action/arcade games, since a lot of people try them as their first practice projects and don’t always succeed,. I’d personally love to see more for rhythm rage, since the last pack was amazing and I love the sounds and action. All the best, Dark. Re: [blind-gamers] audio game recordings
Hi Lori Actually, the music on the podcast about mota was from the access collective, which are a set of podcasts done by Barry elice aka skallagrigg, the webmaster of oneswitch.org.uk which does for physically impared gamers what audiogames.net does for vi ones. He was the one who arranged the demos and added the music. Unfortunately, I can’t play on headphones because I haven’t ever worked out how to get my computer to record my voice, and the computer’s output, and still play through headphones, it’s all a bit of a confusion. Hell, I haven’t even got the stand mikes I bought to work normally on windows 10 with kortana or anything else, so dont’ ask me. I recorded the podcasts with a very old, but still very functional Rowland r09 digital sterrio recorder, which is why I used speakers, and that is likely what I’d use again since the world of audio recording is a bloody confusing one to me (hell as I said Iam most disappointed with window’s ten’s attempt at a siri like intervface given it doesn’t even recognize the mikes let alone get any sound from them). So, if I do another odcast it’ll have to be something I can play on speakers, which puts swamp right out of the picture, besides there are already far too many good audio reviews and such on swamp anyway. As for The Gate, since I had trouble with the demo and don’t even own the game itself I probably wouldn’t do one for that any time soon, especially with the need to play on speakers which in such a difficult game as The gate could be asking for trouble. Sorry to be disappointing. All the best, Dark. I hated seeing you die in mota, it broke my heart. I do however love your voice and your style of presenting, I let my sister hear the opening to the podcast and she cracked up laughing at the opening music saying it sounded like a cheerful hamster dancing a jig. Now I think about it, it would make a funny ring or text tone, the kind which would so get on someone's nerves on a train if turned up loud. >From Lori. On 19/06/2017 17:47, dark wrote: Hi Lori. I listened to your podcast with the 3 audio game reviews, and although I enjoyed it emencely, it's made me feel a bit sad again that Thomas Ward is no longer around. anymore. I even wish I still had that beta demo of TH to play, but it's on my old old old computer, and as I'm on my old computer at the moment, I've no way of reaching it. I wondered who the girl's voice was in TH, the one playing Angela Carter? I sure miss that game. >From Lori. On 18/06/2017 15:17, dark wrote: Hi Lori. I'm not sure what's wrong with the asmodean site, it looks like all the content is gone, but there's no file 504 not found message, just some wierd domain links which don't make sense to me. Hope someone can help, as I could really do with a chuckle at all thos
Re: a suggestion for Dark - Re: [blind-gamers] blind gladiator
Hi Charlse. It’s on my list of things to try. I have enjoyed the arcade titles in the blindfold games range thus far so I’ll be interested to see what that one is like. All the best, Dark. Hi Dave. Yes, I’m playing the Ios version. I was hoping for another nice quick action game I could play along to rather like Space encounter (which I still pull out once in a while for a quick blast). I do like the system on Ios with you moving your phone, I just wish it was less buggy. I suppose I could buy the version for windows, but IT SEEMS A BIT WASTEFUL AFTER I BOUGHT THE GAME ON iOS, heck I have all the other audio it games on Ios and as I said I do think it would be an awesome game if they would just fix the bugs. All the best,

Re: [blind-gamers] blind gladiator
Hi. Got the message. The one thing I have with blind gladiator is it seems the bug avoiding center attacks still! Hasn’t been fixed, meaning you basically are there wailing away with your primary weapon hoping for the god of random numbers not to hit you in the center too much. I do enjoy Adio it’s games, but often it does seem they get released a little early and then it takes a while for bugs to get sorted out. This is a shame since the games themselves are pretty good from what I’ve gathered, but for example space encounter really only wasn’t stable enough to ply until the latest version. I really hope blind gladiator gets an update which makes it less frustrating in the same way. All the best, Dark. I play Gladiator but I haven't played it in a few weeks. At the current time I'm visiting Michael wh's also on the list. Iknow I should start back playing it 'cause it's fun. I'll be writing again soon if the list gets this message.
Re: [blind-gamers] Krafting Kingdom advice request
Hi Charlse The quests are meant to be hard, but also they are the goals in the game. I confess some of those involving buying lots of automation slots have always got me as a little irritating, but it’s also the quests that are the way you progress, so usually I focus on them entirely. All the best, Dark. I get a lot of gold by selling them. They are produced at a rate of 4 every 30 seconds. I just have to be sure that enough timbers are always available, and it takes logs to produce timbers. So I need all 3 products. I’ve been considering to not produce grain or meat, and just produce leather strips, and the other two items are not required to produce the leather. I’m just thinking out loud, here. Some of the quests seem, at the current time, unattainable. A storage space of 5,000 is a good example of this. I actually found I made more cash producing just stone and leather strips than I did trying to make ladders,s imply because ladders filled up storage faste. :likewise, I tend to use the boosts for the @salesman@ perk so that I can max out the gains from what I sell. Generally of course it depends upon your quests, but this would be my suggestion, to try and work out what your next goal is and work towards it rather than having a specific method of going about thing. I will reveal my method below, and would like some hints and suggestions on strategy. Needless to say, there will be spoilers for some players. If you do not want them, stop reading at this point. Otherwise, read on. I start the game and immediately use 4 boosts, selecting the bag of gold on all 4 boosts. I have gotten the 1,000,000 gold piece achievement, so each boost produces 32,000 gold pieces per minute. When the money starts piling up, I go into the city and increase storage to about 500 or more. Then, I buy the lumber yard and 12 slots. I produce logs in the first 4, timbers in the next 4, and leave the last 4 unused at this point. I then buy the farm and 12 slots. Grain is produced in the first 4, meat in the next 4, and leather strips in the last 4. Then, back to the lumber yard and setting the last 4 slots to produce ladders. I waited to do this because leather strips are needed to produce ladders. Next, I buy the quarry and 16 slots. Four slots for each item in sequence: coal, stone, iron ore, and copper ore. Next, I buy the furnace. I have only gotten to the point of buying 4 slots to produce metal. Along the way, I have built my estate up to a hut with doors. I have also, along the way, increased my storage space up to roughly 1,000. This takes quite a long time, even though boosts are being used to provide more bags of gold, needed to do all this stuff. Any help on ways to advance more quickly are appreciated. It is a fun game, for sure, but I’ve got a long, long, long way to go!! If you think you're finished, you! really! are! finished!!
