2010-11-10 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi,

Right. Although, being underwater helps, because Angela will have to
hold her breath while underwater. The Hydra's breath was only faytal
if you were unfortunate enough to breath it in. Holding your breath
therefore protected you from that attack. If you were bitten, though,
that would be a different matter.

Cheers!

I doubt it. Like I said in another message the Hydra's bound to have some

anyone who came near her. And of course Heracles dipped his arrows in her
blood after killing her. But like I also said it sounds as though that fight
will be underwater so there would also be Angela's oxygen supply to watch
 out for.

Hi,

well, I have Klango and the game installed and registered.
But I have no menues or other navigational sounds at all, neither in
Klango nor in the game itself.

Whenever a menue comes up, I get the question What do you want to do?
and then nothing. Not the sound of the menue unfolding and no sounds when
I use the arrow keys. I can select menue items, but I simply get no
sounds.
And when I try to move on the gameboard, there is the same problem. I get
no sounds at all when moving, but all other sounds work, I can hear the
Klango music, the game music and everything else spoken, just no menues or
game board sounds.

Was this maybe a known bug in the older Klango version or something to
which there is a solution?

Or does anyone have an idea for me?

Help is much appreciated.

Thanks and best regards
Sarah

Mike,
on my mush page there is a plugin that mimic's vipmud's output

Mush and or other mud clients make it impossible if you should miss

Also copying text is so much easier then mush or any other client.

I find vip mud to be overly confusing. Besides, if you are a script

never be able to. Vipmud uses it's own scripting language, while
mushclient has support for sql, sockets for network communication, and

VipMud isn't a bad client, but it lacks a lot of functionality and
it's not well known, so no one's going to develop things for it. There
are better clients which are free out there.

You can also use the free version as long as you wish.

While I bought vip mud to support gma games, I will admit that accept for

Here here.

Developers should listen to fans to a certain extent is what I think. For
minor things like little gameplay tweeks, small-scale feature
suggestions... but on the larger scale like difficulty, the developer
should totally do things his own way. I think this is why a lot of
mainstream devs generally don't talk to fans in public... they just scan
forums and see what people say and put it in the suggestion box. But I
agree. Mota should be done the way you want it to be, and the rest of us
can either suck it up or find another game. I personally love everything
about Mota, difficulty included even if it means dying over and over again
on high levels of difficulty. But what good game doesn't cost you time and
experience? If capcom were to listen to everything their fans said about
how Street Fighter should be, I'd hate to see the mess that SF would
become... *cringes* especially about how all the noobs like to whine about
how they lose befcause such a player keeps comboing them... and these are
the same people who use the same bloody tactics over and over again and
just don't want to learn the deeper side of things.

Hi,

Right. Although, being underwater helps, because Angela will have to
hold her breath while underwater. The Hydra's breath was only faytal
if you were unfortunate enough to breath it in. Holding your breath
therefore protected you from that attack. If you were bitten, though,
that would be a different matter.

people have about dragons... and they always talk about the eyes...
that seems to be the point where a lot of chinese heroes defeated
dragons was by stabbing them in the eye or whatnot.

That would agree with the Harry Potter books as well since Sirius tells
Harry that dragons are most vulnerable in the eyes. That would seem to hint
at a javelin or spear or maybe even a dirk, something that would let you
attack from further away. Granted if it was a dirk you'd probably need to
have several on hand since if the first blow wasn't fatal you'd need to land
several more. And now I'm suddenly reminded of the Dragonlance novels since
the Dragonlance was probably one of the only weapons, and I don't remember
many others, with any hope of penetrating a dragon's scales. Granted if you
were fighting a real dragon keeping your distance wouldn't be a complete
protection since they can breathe fire and at quite a distance if my memory
serves. You could avoid that if you were quick enough though I suppose.

I always thought greeks loved the javolin... and I always figured that was
their signature weapon. At least, with spartans it was. That and the spear.
And as to a dragon's weakpoint... isn't the eye also a possibility? I guess
you'd have to look from different perspectives about that... being chinese,
I know the myths and legends chinese people have about dragons... and they
always talk about the eyes... that seems to be the point where a lot of
chinese heroes defeated dragons was by stabbing them in the eye or whatnot.

Good one. LOL. My guess would be a corssbow or something along those lines
since in my experience the dragon's weak point is often too small for a
sword blade to effectively reach, whereas a crossbow bolt might be able to
do the trick. My first thought was a club since that was Heracles' weapon
of choice if memory serves, but I rather quickly discarded that idea since
dragons weren't usually vulnerable in the head. THey were usually most
vulnerable in the chest or throat area if I remember right. Granted a
Hydra if memory serves is rather distantly related to dragons but still.

Hi,

Sorry, to say you guys are barking up the wrong tree. There is
something else in the game you have to find, and I'm not going to tell
you what it is.

As you already know a Hydra can't be defeated by lopping off its heads
without using a torch to burn the necks shut. Of course, you can't do
that underwater and without an extra person to help. Neither can you
just take a swing at its hide with a sword, enchanted or not, because
its body is covered in scales. However, like a dragon a Hydra has one
spot that is pretty vulnerable if you can get to it. That's all I'm
going to say.

Probably not. I don't think bullets would be able to punch through a
dragon's scales and probably not even the softer hide underneath. Dragons
are probably too powerfully magical for that. If we're talking fighting from
a distance I'd put my money on either an enchanted bow, a crossbow a
javelin/lance or posibly even shurakin, something small that could be
obtained in plenty and thrown with a high degree of speed. Granted Shurakin
are probably so small that they probably wouldn't be able to do much more
than irritate a dragon, sort of like a human being bitten by a fly or a
mosquito. Not particularly harmful unless of course you happened to have an

deadly to it than a bug bite generally would be to us.

some sort of secret gimmic hidden in it. And I think Mota's going to have

[Audyssey] New game, towers of war

2010-11-10 Thread dark
Hi.

people already on the audiogames.net forums or who read the site news will know
about this, but for everyone else I thought an announcement was in order.

just over a week ago, a chap by the name of Jeremy Kaldovski turned up on the
forum with the name Aprone. He was interested in stratogy games so we filled
him in about sound rts, time of conflict etc.

He expressed the desire to make a game for the Audio games community, we said
nice idea thinking that perhaps we'd see something in a few months.

Within 24 hours it'd appeared! I mean that, 24! hours!

The game, now called towers of war, is the first ever audio tower defense game,
this basically is a popular genre of graphical stratogy games where a number of
monsters walk down a path from one end to the other, and the player must
strategically build towers which shoot at the monsters to defeat them.

The stratogy comes from where you build the towers, what towers you build, and
how you upgrade them, sinse you've only got limited money.

Within a week, the game now has several game modes, 20 levels, 4 maps (with a
map editer in developement), and 6 different types of tower with new ones on
the way.

It also has audio grid review commands and various ways to track battles, pluss
some high contrast graphics for those who would find them useful.

Beta are literally being posted each night, each with more bug squashing and
more features, so it's highly recommended to try the game.

Just read http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=4327 for full
description and links, including a link to a walkthru. It's also recommended to
check the first post, sinse Aprone is updating it with a change logue and new
feature list, as well as updated links to new betas.

I can highly recommend this game, and in fact am really looking forward to
seeing what gets added next.

I think developement has been the fastest I've ever seen! considdering even the
idea for an audio tower defense game wasn't around a fortnight ago.

Beware the Grue!

Dark.

Mike,
on my mush page there is a plugin that mimic's vipmud's output
functionality, so you can ctrl tab to your output window and find text
easy, even with ctrl+f let's you find any text that was shown on the
mud.

Don't say things if you don't know whether it's true or not.
Just letting you know.

Functionality maybe but makes things so much easier to use. It is your

Mush and or other mud clients make it impossible if you should miss
something and it is a crowded room to see what was said without scrolling
backwards and looking for a phrase or name.

Also copying text is so much easier then mush or any other client.

If you are blind I strongly recommend vip.

I find vip mud to be overly confusing. Besides, if you are a script
developer etc, or you wish to use other script libraries, you will
never be able to. Vipmud uses it's own scripting language, while
mushclient has support for sql, sockets for network communication, and
so on.

VipMud isn't a bad client, but it lacks a lot of functionality and
it's not well known, so no one's going to develop things for it. There
are better clients which are free out there.

On 11/8/10, dark d...@xgam.org wrote:

It's also worth noting that vip mud really doesn't lose many features
from
the free version at all.

The program auto disconnects after an hour (but you can reconnect in
seconds), You lose the ability for msp support, but not for scripted
sound
packs, and some of the debug options, but that's really it.

You can also use the free version as long as you wish.

While I bought vip mud to support gma games, I will admit that accept
for

materiamagica which has a very good msp soundpack, I haven't noticed too
much difference betwene the free and commercial versions, (and sinse I
uninstalled and reinstalled it, I lost my 30 day trial period so did
spend
time with the free version).

Hi Charles,

Well, I always use myself as the first and primary tester for
difficulty levels. I figure I can beat it at a certain difficulty
level then so can somebody else once they get enough skill at the
game. If I feel something like expert is too hard to be realistic I
tone it down which is something I plan on doing once I begin tweeking
things. However, just because someone thinks beginner is too difficult
doesn't mean I'm going to tone it down if I have no problem beating
that level. They will just have to try harder which makes it a better
and more challenging game in the long run.

Hi.
I have to assume the people have deleted the files they linked you to, or
gave you invalid links. Files placed in dropbox do not expire as they do
with the free sendspace accounts. Also there isn't a download cap. I've
placed free games in my public dropbox folder for people who couldn't find
them, and as far as I know it's worked great. I've used both sendspace and
dropbox, and to hear me tell it, I definitely favor dropbox or dorpbox as I
call it. I think sendspace probably allows for faster upload speeds.

Back on topic a little, did you notice that in mota beta 16, when you select
a whip it repeats itself very quickly until you release the number you
pressed to select your weapon? And also that weapons seem to wait for the
spacebar to be released rather than pressed down?

Oh and did you make the easily difficulty more difficult? *grin*. I used to
make it to level 2 when I used beta 15, but in this one I die before I even
get anywhere close to the second boss. Maybe I'm having a bad time of it.
*lol*.

Hi Hayden,

Well, as a big Sendspace user with a Max account I can give you lots of
reasons why Dropbox is, well, not that good. For one thing with a Sendspace
Max account you can download up to 8 GB per day, can store 100 GB of files
on your account, use of the Sendspace Wizard, etc.
Dropbox doesn't offerly nearly that much. Especially, for a free account. I
can't tell you how many times someone has posted a podcast or something to
Dropbox, and when I go to download it Dropbox says the download limit has
expired or the file is no longer available. The service is quite honestly
terrible.

Re: [Audyssey] MOTA Beta 16 Released!

2010-11-10 Thread Charles Rivard
Replay value. I think, Dang! I blew it! Better try again! Sheesh, I
almost beat it! I'm getting there, finally! Ah, success on the easy
difficulty! Let's move on to the next level! More frustrating game play,
but fun, too! I'll beat it one of these days, then go on to the next
level. I never expect to beat a game right away. If I do, that level is
too easy for me, and that's what the higher levels are for. Also, once I
have mastered the easy difficulties and I'm just in the mood to beat the
heck out of a game, I'll play them on the easy levels just to win. If I
want a challenge, I'll go higher.

How about well, sorry if off topic, but the balister t technique that the

As for this particular trap that is being guessed about, keep in mind that
you and the monster are, I think, under water. The water will add a lot of
resistance to thrown objects.

Granted Shurakin
are probably so small that they probably wouldn't be able to do much more
than irritate a dragon, sort of like a human being bitten by a fly or a
mosquito. Not particularly harmful unless of course you happened to have an
allergy. I imagine throwing a Shurakin into a dragon's eye would be no more
deadly to it than a bug bite generally would be to us.

That’s all I’m
going to say.

P.S.

The Greeks were a master of this weapon, and used it ffar more than
swords, daggers, and other weapons.

Cheers!

Hi.

Within 24 hours it'd appeared! I mean that, 24! hours!

The game, now called towers of war, is the first ever audio tower defense
game, this basically is a popular genre of graphical stratogy games where
a number of monsters walk down a path from one end to the other, and the
player must strategically build towers which shoot at the monsters to
defeat them.

The stratogy comes from where you build the towers, what towers you build,
and how you upgrade them, sinse you've only got limited money.

Within a week, the game now has several game modes, 20 levels, 4 maps
(with a map editer in developement), and 6 different types of tower with
new ones on the way.

It also has audio grid review commands and various ways to track battles,
pluss some high contrast graphics for those who would find them useful.

Beta are literally being posted each night, each with more bug squashing
and more features, so it's highly recommended to try the game.

Just read http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=4327 for full
description and links, including a link to a walkthru. It's also
recommended to check the first post, sinse Aprone is updating it with a
change logue and new feature list, as well as updated links to new betas.

I can highly recommend this game, and in fact am really looking
forward to seeing what gets added next.

I think developement has been the fastest I've ever seen! considdering
even the idea for an audio tower defense game wasn't around a fortnight
ago.

Subject: [Audyssey] New game, towers of war

 Hi.

people already on the audiogames.net forums or who read the site news will

know about this, but for everyone else I thought an announcement was in
 order.

just over a week ago, a chap by the name of Jeremy Kaldovski turned up on
the forum with the name Aprone. He was interested in stratogy games so we
filled him in about sound rts, time of conflict etc.

He expressed the desire to make a game for the Audio games community, we
said nice idea thinking that perhaps we'd see something in a few months.

It's also

Granted Shurakin
are probably so small that they probably wouldn't be able to do much more
than irritate a dragon, sort of like a human being bitten by a fly or a
mosquito. Not particularly harmful unless of course you happened to have an
allergy. I imagine throwing a Shurakin into a dragon's eye would be no more
deadly to it than a bug bite generally would be to us.

P.S.

The Greeks were a master of this weapon, and used it ffar more than
swords, daggers, and other weapons.

songs that contains rock band 3 features like keyboard and
harmonies. reason being, it's impossible to upgrade the tracks
since hmx never created stems for them, which means a whole
separate version of the song has to be made. that's the really
short version. there are a bunch of other factors involved as well
like recharting song for consistency etc. There's this massive

Here here.

Developers should listen to fans to a certain extent is what I
think. For minor things like little gameplay tweeks, small-scale
feature suggestions... but on the larger scale like difficulty,
the developer should totally do things his own way. I think this
is why a lot of mainstream devs generally don't talk to fans in
public... they just scan forums and see what people say and put
it in the suggestion box. But I agree. Mota should be done the
way you want it to be, and the rest of us can either suck it up
or find another game. I personally love everything about Mota,
difficulty included even if it means dying over and over again on
high levels of difficulty. But what good game doesn't cost you
time and experience? If capcom were to listen to everything their
fans said about how Street Fighter should be, I'd hate to see the
mess that SF would become... *cringes* especially about how all
the noobs like to whine about how they lose befcause such a
player keeps comboing them... and these are the same people who
use the same bloody tactics over and over again and just don't
want to learn the deeper side of things.

At 05:01 AM 10/11/2010, you wrote:

Hi Bryan,

That's a pretty aped point. Over the passed six years or so since I
started writing accessible games I've learned one very important
thing. Simply put, it is impossible to please everybody. We all have
different skills, different ideas what is the ideal game, whatever and
trying to implement all of them is a fool's task. It can't be done.

However, part of the problem here is that we've become something of an
entitlement society. We think it is our right to have this or that
handed to us, or that a developer should do this or that because it is
suppose to be for the good of everybody. If a game is too hard then
the developer should make it easier so the less skilled can play it
too. If someone can't figure out a trap or puzzle then the traps and
puzzles should be made easier to guess etc. On the other hand, you
have those who say that is too easy and the game should be harder,
more difficult traps/puzzles, and so on. Who is right and who is wrong
here?

As the developer the decision what to do about it is sully on me. Part
of the solution is by tuning out the special interest groups and
making decisions on what I personally feel is right. I haven't done
enough of that, and I'm beginning to see the only way this project
will ever get done and be done in a timely fashion is to do it my way.
Special interest groups can take a hike.

Cheers!

I really doubt if that would work. You are in water. That would put your

It won't stay lit when wet.

Granted Shurakin
are probably so small that they probably wouldn't be able to do much more
than irritate a dragon, sort of like a human being bitten by a fly or a
mosquito. Not particularly harmful unless of course you happened to have an
allergy. I imagine throwing a Shurakin into a dragon's eye would be no more
deadly to it than a bug bite generally would be to us.

P.S.

The Greeks were a master of this weapon, and used it ffar more than
swords, daggers, and other weapons.

Cheers!

Granted Shurakin
are probably so small that they probably wouldn't be able to do much more
than irritate a dragon, sort of like a human being bitten by a fly or a
mosquito. Not particularly harmful unless of course you happened to have an
allergy. I imagine throwing a Shurakin into a dragon's eye would be no more
deadly to it than a bug bite generally would be to us.

P.S.

The Greeks were a master of this weapon, and used it ffar more than
swords, daggers, and other weapons.

Cheers!

Actually haiden it was developed in vb6 and does require those components,

You can try Jim's games, though if that doesn't work, check the first post

Hi.

people already on the audiogames.net forums or who read the site news
will know about this, but for everyone else I thought an announcement
was

in order.

just over a week ago, a chap by the name of Jeremy Kaldovski turned up
on

the forum with the name Aprone. He was interested in stratogy games so
we

filled him in about sound rts, time of conflict etc.

He expressed the desire to make a game for the Audio games community, we
said nice idea thinking that perhaps we'd see something in a few
months.

Within 24 hours it'd appeared! I mean that, 24! hours!

The game, now called towers of war, is the first ever audio tower
defense

game, this basically is a popular genre of graphical stratogy games
where

a number of monsters walk down a path from one end to the other, and the
player must strategically build towers which shoot at the monsters to
defeat them.

The stratogy comes from where you build the towers, what towers you
build, and how you upgrade them, sinse you've only got limited money.

Within a week, the game now has several game modes, 20 levels, 4 maps
(with a map editer in developement), and 6 different types of tower with
new ones on the way.

It also has audio grid review commands and various ways to track
battles,

pluss some high contrast graphics for those who would find them useful.

Beta are literally being posted each night, each with more bug squashing
and more features, so it's highly recommended to try the game.

Just read http://forum.audiogames.net/viewtopic.php?id=4327 for full
description and links, including a link to a walkthru. It's also
recommended to check the first post, sinse Aprone is updating it with a
change logue and new feature list, as well as updated links to new
betas.

I can highly recommend this game, and in fact am really looking
forward to seeing what gets added next.

I think developement has been the fastest I've ever seen! considdering
even the idea for an audio tower defense game wasn't around a fortnight
ago.

Hi.
today as an experiment I tried playing v3d.
in the first 2 levels it was ok because there is nothing much to do
these are straight levels.
However everything was slightly off centre, it was not much but
enough to confuse and annoy me when picking up objects and opening doors.
Where v3d came into play was when I was shooting an enemy I could
tell what I was hitting.
same with grenades but I don't think I could play a game like that,
they have probably improved things since direct sound.

I had to go to stereo sound.
