[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] MARC templates

2012-11-27 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hello

In collaboration with the National Library of the Czech republic We are
currently working on MAC XML cataloging templates for Evergreen that
should meet the standards of the Union catalog of the Czech Republic.

We were advised to use wildcard character (such as an asterisk) for coded
data and indicators in the MARC templates that cataloger must not forget to
fill in. E.g. at the position 35-37 in field 008 or at the position of the
first indicator in the 100 field (etc.) should occur a star in the
template that would warn catalogers it is necessary to enter some data.

It doesn't not seem as a bad idea to me, but I wonder if it could cause a
problem in Evergreen in the case that the catalogers forget to fill in
the right data and asterisk would remain in the MARC record hen it is
saved.

What do you think about it.

Thanks for your ideas

Eva

Just a point to consider. There have been many times when I have
migrated data from other systems into Evergreen and encounter values
like *** REQUIRED FIELD ***. Without teeth to enforce the
restrictions, people will either forget, or choose to skip the needed
data entry, maybe with the idea of coming back later (and then
 forgetting).

That said, we could develop a framework for enforcing restrictions in
the MARC, given will and resources.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] OPAC- serial holding summary display

2013-02-20 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Thanks a lot for the pattern. I have tested it and it works (i. e. the
holding summary displays all issues)
Unfortunately It does not solved my problem completely. As the issues of
serial in question are not marked with volume or month (just year and
number) and the publication dates of issues are quite irregular, it does
not fit on the case. If I would use the pattern the OPAC holding summary
would be confusing for users.

 Dear Eva,

 ** **

I think you need to add the chronology captions Year and Month. The whole
 pattern would look like this:

 ** **

 [0,0,8,1,a,Vol.,b,No.,u,2,v,c,i,(year),j,(month),w,f,x,01]

 ** **

Then try to create a new issuance for the number 41.

 ** **

 I hope this will help.

 ** **

We came across a problem of serials holding display for a particular
 serial in library OPAC .
I think the problem could have something to do with the fact that in
this case the numbering increments continuously (we newer had a problem
displaying serials holdings in OPAC when issuance numbering restarts at
 unit completion).
We received serial issues no. 42 and 43, but in the serial holding
summary no information about no. 43 is displayed in OPAC (however call
 numbers are displayed), see
 http://www.jabok.cuni.cz/opac/en-US/skin/default/xml/rdetail.xml?r=10801d=0hc=1adv=10801rt=tcn

When creating pattern code and issuance I entered following data:

 1) Pattern code wizard:
Page 1 - Use enumeration: filed checked
 Enumerating caption :
 First level: Vol.
Second level: No., Number: 2, Increments continuously

Page 2 - Use calendar changes: filed checked.
Used calendar change „At start of a month“ „January“

Page 3 - Use chronology caption: field unchecked

 Page 4
Compressibility and Expandability: Cannot compress or expand
Caption Evaluation: Caption unverified, all levels may not be present
Frequency: Semiannual

 2) I created New Issuance with following: Date published:12/15/2011
then I entered data to Issuance wizard (Vol :2011, no 41) and
 compiled the holding code.

 3) I generated prediction for vol. 2012 and 2013 (numbers 42 - 43/2012 and
 44 - 45/2013).

I am quite new in holding data formats so I think I might have done
something wrong when generating pattern code or making prediction (however
I cannot exclude possibility of existing bug).

 Have you any idea?

 Thanks a lot.

Hi Tina,

it reminds me very much the bug we came across some time ago, see

(although I don´t suppose you have problem with Czech characters ;-) and
the reason in your case would be different).
The only thing which we have found to help is deleting Evergreen client

Hi Gordana,

we have configured new status Reference in our Evergreen for books or
materials we lend only in house. See
http://www.jabok.cuni.cz/opac/en-US/skin/default/xml/rresult.xml?rt=keywordtp=keywordt=soci%C3%A1ln%C3%AD%20pr%C3%A1ce%20v%20praxift=%20subject%7Ctopic%5Bpraxe%5Dl=1d=0f=av=hc=9

We use the new status togeter with Is reference item attribut. We have
Evergreen 2.2 and within about a year we are using the Reference status
we didn´t came across any problem with the settings.

On the other hand it doesn't seem as a bad idea to me to create in
Evergreen new status e.g. In house use that would prevent the item from
being checked out by default.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Any ideas how to include payments from external sources into Evergreen?

2013-11-18 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I wonder whether some of you have any idea concerning possibility of adding
money to patrons account in Evergreen using bank transfers (as described in
Linda´s email below) - I think it would be quite useful to see the problem
from the different points of view.
If you have any recommendations or ideas, please, let me know as soon as
possible (we are preparing the grant application to get some money for the
solution and the grant application deadline is approaching quite fast ;-))

Thanks a lot

Eva

2013/11/10 Linda Jansova skolk...@chello.cz

  Dear all,

Czech library users would appreciate if it was possible to add money to
their Evergreen account using bank transfers (this way of making payments
is used by a number of public libraries in our country).

Our idea is that a CSV file from electronic banking (with a variable
symbol as a payment identifier, see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_symbol, and a particular amount of
money) would be processed with a script that we would write. The script
output would call an OpenSRF function or insert data into a table.

If the first method (calling a function) was used, which OpenSRF function
should be called in order to enable adding money to a particular user
account (using a user account ID as a variable – or other identifier from
the electronic banking data – and an amount of money)?

If the second method (inserting data into a table) was used, which are the
tables into which the data should be inserted and how should the insertion
 be done?

Which of these methods would you recommend?

(Indeed, if there are any other options, we will be more than happy to
 hear about them :-).)

A programmer would do this work for us (provided that we are awarded grant
money for this purpose – the grant writing activities are just underway)
and we would definitely share the results of our work with the Evergreen
 community.

Thank you in advance for any hints!

Linda and Vaclav Jansovi (and especially Eva Cerninakova from Jabok
Library who is about to submit the grant application :-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Circulation policy setting - circulation duration rules

2014-05-01 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hello everyone,

I am setting circulation policies for new Evergreen system in Evangelical
Theological Seminary Library and I came across a problem with circulation
duration rules application when checking out materials.

The library has the four patron permission groups. Different circulation
policies were created for those groups, with various circulation duration
rules assigned to each group.
There exist also default circulation policy for default (parent) permission
group ,„User“ in the system.

The problem occurs when checking out materials. The circulation duration
rule assigned to permission group „User“ is always applied to ALL
circulations regardless of patron permission group and circulation policy
assigned (E.G. circulation duration rule „60_days_3_renew“ should be
applied to permission group „Internal students“ by checkout but instead of
it the duration rule „28_days_1_renew“ assigned to group „Users“ is
applied). When renewing checked out materials, the circulation duration
rules are applied correctly (in accordance with the assigned circulation
policy and circulation duration rule)
.
I tried to deactivate the default circulation policy for „User“ group (i.e.
set the circulation policy parameter „active“ for permission group User to
„FALSE“), but when the circulation policy for group „User“ is not active,
the pop-up window appears with error message „Exceptions:
no_matchpoint“ and it is not possible to check out any copy.
It is important to solve the problem, because the library needs various
circulation duration for each patron permission group.

Thanks in advance for any ideas :-).

As Thomas suggested I have updated renewal rule in circulation policy sets
(although I have done it in staff client and set the there the „renewals“

circulation duration rules are applied correctly to each patron permission

If renewals are working, and you didn't intend to have renewal-specific
rules, I would update the rules to set is_renewal to NULL to see if it
fixes things. It being set to true would make the rules only apply to
renewals. This can be done with the following SQL statement:

 UPDATE config.circ_matrix_matchpoint SET is_renewal = NULL;

You will, obviously, need to be more careful if you do have
 renewal-specific rules in place.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Setting Czech language in TPAC

2014-05-11 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi

I tried to set Czech as default language in TPAC (Evergreen version 2.5.3)
but I was successful only partly - some parts or strings of TPAC have
stayed untranslated, see http://lib.etspraha.cz/eg/opac/home.

I thought about replacing file
'/openils/var/templates/locale/tpac.cs-CZ.po'.
I used the same method as overriding other template files in TPAC, i.e.,
in '/openils/var/templates_custom/' (where are already storred another
custom directories and temlates) I created directory 'locale'.
Then I tried to download file 'tpac.po' from Launchpad and copy it as
'tpac.cs-CZ.po' to '/openils/var/templates_custom/locale/' (although I was
not sure, whether it is possible to do it like this at all).
It did not help, so I tried to edit translations right in original file
'tpac.cs-CZ.po' (I copied it to
'/openils/var/templates_custom/locale/tpac.cs-CZ.po'). Even this didn´t
work and the state of TPAC translations didn´t change.

I am not sure whether translation updates could work without overriding
(i.e. replace the file 'tpac.cs_CZ.po' right in the original directory
'/openils/var/templates/locale/') or whether it doesn't work like this at
all and there is another (probably more complex) way for updating
translations.

Thank for any ideas

Eva

PS: TPAC template in Launchpad has been fully translated for some time so
I wonder whether it could be possible that the newer version of TPAC
template wasn't included to newer versions of Evergreen?

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Problem registering new patron

2014-05-11 Thread Cerninakova Eva
In a new Evergreen system we have a problem registering patrons. Staff
(except admin account) is not able to register new patron or edit patron
account information - only some fields are displayed, see
http://knihovna.jabok.cz/Evergreen/snapshots/edit_patron.jpg or or
http://knihovna.jabok.cz/Evergreen/snapshots/register_patron.jpg.

Staff permission groups have following configurations:
Editing permission: group_application.user.patron or
group_application.user.staff
Parent group: Staff

Group permissions:
CREATE_USER
CREATE_USER_GROUP_LINK
DELETE_USER
UPDATE_USER
VIEW_USER
group_application.user
group_application.user.patron
group_application.user.staff

We don´t know what does the USER_BTYPE mean, but we also tried adding:
CREATE_USER_BTYPE
DELETE_USER_BTYPE
UPDATE_USER_BTYPE
VIEW_USER_BTYPE

Permission mentioned above are granted to staff accounts both on the
permission group level and for individual user (via user permission
editor).

Staff accounts have assigned appropriate working location too.

Registering new patron is impossible even for the local system
administrator account, that have all above mentioned permissions granted
for the consortium depth (and can also grant them) and has the 'EVERYTHING'
permission granted on the branch level.

Is there anything else that should be set up to enable staff to edit or
register new user?

Thanks for any ideas

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] match point issue/date due problem-altered now

2014-05-22 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Janice,

I am not sure I understand quite well, whether the „no_matchpoint“ problem
occurs when checking out any book or whether it occurs only for one
particular book with the barcode 123285.
If it happens with the one particular book only, I would guess the problem
might be related to item attributes and probably some of the attributes
defined in the circulation policies are missing or having a wrong value .
For example in our library it happens - according circulation policies -
with items that have „is reference“ flag or when circulation modifier is
missing (but it could be anything else, like wrong or missing user home
library etc.).

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Searching for author using the link in search results

2014-09-14 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

we had updated our Evergreen to from 2.2 to 2.6 and I discovered the
problem when using the link to author in the search results and record
details. Some subfields (e.g. 7 or d) of fields 100 or 700 are
displayed as a part of the link to author seach in search result or record
details but when using the link no results are retruned no matter whether
the records exist or not.

For example when I search for Dominik Aubrecht I got two record, see
https://www.jabok.cuni.cz/eg/opac/results?query=aubrecht+dominik
but when clicking on link 13483 Aubrecht, Dominik
https://www.jabok.cuni.cz/eg/opac/results?query=13483%20Aubrecht%20%20Dominik;qtype=author;locg=102
in search result page I get the error message: Sorry, no entries were
found fo 13483 Aubrecht Dominik.

Another examples:
https://www.jabok.cuni.cz/eg/opac/results?query=lafollette
https://www.jabok.cuni.cz/eg/opac/results?query=odilo+štampach

There was no problem in our previous version 2.2 because we used JSPAC
but now in the TPAC it works like this.

Do you have any ideas how could I solve this problem?
Thanks a lot

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Searching for author using the link in search results

2014-09-15 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Elaine,

it is true that the author link in the facet works fine in our catalog.
But the problem is that it is quite confusing for our patrons if they get
no entry when clicking the author link in search results or record details
although the record/s exist/s.

As far as I know, the same think with author link happens to the library
of Evangelical Theological Seminary in Prague and they have the Evergreen
version 2.5.3 (although I think they do not use subfield $d for date of
birth or death, so the problem concerns the subfield $7 only in their
case), see
http://lib.etspraha.cz/eg/opac/results?query=matou%C5%A1ekqtype=authorfi%3Aitem_type=sort=

My first idea how to solve it was to delete the difficult subfields but I
am afraid We could get rid nor of authors dates nor of subfield $7 (at
least because the subfield $7 is used as a linking authority number for
the Czech national authorities which we are planning to implement soon).

I looked at MARC records in Pines catalog and I saw Pines uses subfield
$0 for Pines authority number (or something like that) with no problem and
the subfield $d works fine in the Pines catalog too.

I only guess the problem has something to do with the processing URLs for
author link i TPAC template /openils/var/opac/parts/record/authors.tt2
(perhaps in the template section BLOCK build_author_links; ...) and
maybe as well in the template /openils/var/opac/parts/result/table.tt2?
But unfortunately I am not sure at it as I am not much familiar with
template toolkit :-(.

2014-09-16 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Elaine,

Bens proposal to edit the misc-util.tt2 template was the right solution and
I am sure this will not cause any problem with national authorities - the
field 7 in 1XX and 7XX stays in the record, it is only not handled as a
part of the link to the author (and the search query performed by clicking
it).
After I made the change recommended by Ben, I discovered that I might have
misled you because the field d for date didn't cause any problem (I
thought it did, but it was a mistake).

Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it :-)

 Eva,

Both |0 and |d are assigned subfields for MARC21 1xx and 7xx fields. |0 is
for authority record control numbers and |d is of course the date. I think
your problem may be that you are using an unassigned subfield for your
authority control numbers, so Evergreen isn’t recognizing the entire field.
I do think it is curious that it does so in the facets but not the result
set – don’t mean to suggest that as a work around for you; but, as a clue
 to the problem for programmers.

If you edited all your |7s in 1xx and 7xx fields, what impact would that
have on future linking to your national authorities?

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Strange message when overriding hold in Czech OPAC

2014-09-24 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I would like to ask for a help or hint in following matter:
According to our hold policies we want to warn users when they place a
hold if there is a local copy available in the library. That is why I set
up the has local copy alert to true In the Library settings editor. In
the cases when user places a hold and there is a local copy available in
the library the message appear, that the hold was not successfully
placed and the action must be canceled or overridden. So far so good.

But the problem is that Instead of the message:

Problem: There is already copy available at you local library
which is displayed when the OPAC language is set to English - see
http://knihovna.jabok.cz/Evergreen/snapshots/hold-overrriding-en.jpg),

if the Czech is on in the OPAC the message describing the problem looks
like this:

Project-Id-Version: evergreen Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: FULL NAME

(see http://knihovna.jabok.cz/Evergreen/snapshots/hold-overrriding-cz.jpg).

I am sure it is a bug to be reported (I will do that).

But the thing is that at the moment I need to solve the problem of holds
with local copy available in our system. Don´t you have any idea, what
could I do? I guess the problem must have something to do with the
language template file cs-CZ.po in /openils/var/data/locale/cs-CZ.po as
the string that appears in the unsuccessful hold error message contains
some text from the top of the template file (see
http://knihovna.jabok.cz/Evergreen/cs-CZ.po).

Do you think the problem could be solved by some changes in the template
file in question?

Thanks a lot for any idea.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Adding copy barcode/ID to the invoice print output template

2015-01-23 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all

Due to Czech accounting rules we need to hand over a list containing copy
barcodes/IDs related to every paid invoice item saved in Evergreen
Acquisition to our Accounting Department. We use report module for printing
overview of copy barcodes attached to each invoice, but this way is a bit
laborious. If the barcode could be added to the trigger event definition
template processed on demand when printing the invoice, it would save us
much time and effort. I have previously successfully customized the
Invoice template in Notification / Action Triggers interface according
to most of our needs but as I am not a template toolkit expert I failed to
add barcode(s) of item paid to the template output.
Is there an easy way to add copy barcode (or at least ID) to the Invoice

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Importing authority record via Z39.50

2015-03-24 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I would like to ask you for comments or Ideas in following problem:

We are planing implementation of Czech nation authorities in our Evergreen
at the time. Considering various workflow scenarios we discovered that in
some cases the most convenient workflow would be for us importing single
authority record via Z39.50.

Is there a way to save record imported to Evergreen via Z39.50 as authority
record?

I made some test and imported authority records from Czech National
authority database to Evergreen. I did not have a problem importing those
records via Z39.50, but unfortunately the imported records were saved as
bibliographic, NOT as authority records . This meant such records did not
appear in authority list (in „manage authorities interface) likewise they
were not visible for searching and applying to bibliographic record (when
editing bibliographic MARC record). Although the imported authority records
are labeled as !Record type: AUT (in MARC editor), I have noticed, that
there is value biblio in subfield 901 $ t. I tried to change the value
to „authority“, but after saving record the value was always back to
„biblio“.

Have I missed something (e.g.. some necessary settings) or it is impossible
in Evergreen to save record imported via Z39.50 as authority record ?

I will really appreciate your ideas.

Thanks a lot.

Hi George,

do you mean that you are planing tracking OPAC use for a future or do you
mean you need to mine the information how the OPAC was used previously?

Currently we use Google analytics for OPAC statistics, but until recently
we used home made script extracting the data from Apache log (the script
is very simple but used to work fine for us). If you are interested (or
anyone else) I can share it.

2015-05-11 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

We are currently trying to implement Czech National authorities into
Evergreen and have some question concerning authority records (and may be
contribution to the debate on authorities during Evergreen conference in
Hood River) .

1) Does Evergreen support Z39.50 update function? Libraries in the Czech
Republic are involved in creation of authority records s and the issue of
Z39.50 update is crucial because tool providing update of records of the
Czech national authorities by cooperating libraries is based on Z39.50
update function.

2) Is it possible to replace Evergreen system authority number in field 001
with Czech National authority control number? According to the Czech
national cataloging practice in the authority record the field 001 is used
for Czech national authority control number. It is of course possible to
use field 016 (National Bibliographic Agency Control Number), but as the
cooperation is based on „living“ update via Z39.50, moving authority
control number might be complication and potential barrier to
cooperation.

Thanks in advance for answers :-)

No, Evergreen does not support any Z39.50 update functions at this time,
and as far as I know there are no plans to support update via Z39.50.

If you disable the maintain control numbers global flag, then this might
be possible; testing required. Note that that would also affect how control
numbers are maintained for bibliographic records.

If you have administrator access, then you should be able to find this
setting in the staff client under Admin - Server Admin - Global Flags. If
not, but you have SQL access to the database, it would be UPDATE
config.global_flag SET enabled = FALSE WHERE name =
 'cat.maintain_control_numbers';

A simplistic approach to preventing control number maintenance for only
authority records would be to modify the public.maintain_control_numbers()
database function to check for an authority-record specific flag (something
like 'cat.maintain_authority_control_numbers') and have that override the
 general global flag.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Evergreen and Zotero - encoding problems

2015-04-13 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Ones more again many thanks for the tip how to fix the problem. We have
applied the fix to Jabok Library catalog and the problem with character
encoding is solved for now :-).

When it comes to Zotero, would like to add one more note about incorrect
Zotero document type (as I have discovered some Evergreen libraries have
the problem as well and I thought it might be worth mentioning):

Some time ago we noticed, that Zotero did not detect correct type of the
document in our Evergreen catalog. Especially for the book type the
document type was not recognized (and saved in Zotero) as book but as
universal type „document“. This also meant that Zotero icon in the catalog
in address bar showed „document“ not „book“. Because the document type
was correct sometimes and sometimes not, we try to explored the problem
deeper.
We came to conclusion that the solution lies in coded values in field 008.
From Zotero point of view it is very important to fill in the value for
„Nature of contents“ (positions 24-27). We also found that for book type
also positions 29 (Conference publication), 30 (Festschrift ) or 34
(Biography) may affect the display of type of document: if position 24-27
are empty, and some of above mentioned position o 008 field have value
provided, the type of document is displayed as book.
I am aware the matter is probably more complex and our conclusion might not
be comprehensive but I hope even this lot might be useful for someone.

  Hi,

Our colleagues in Jabok Library would like to promote the usage of their
Evergreen OPAC as Zotero source data so that their patrons (and others of
course) would be able to import individual bibliographic records to Zotero
 reference management system (https://www.zotero.org/).

When used as a Mozilla Firefox plugin, it is clear that the data are
 imported via unAPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UnAPI; unfortunately
the homepage at http://unapi.info/ does not seem to be working; a bit
of unAPI documentation is available at
 http://code4lib.org/files/unapi_revision_1-14.html, though maybe it is
 not the latest version).

Everything seems to work fine with one exception and these are records
with non-ASCII characters such as letters with diacritics (č for
example). As Czech language uses plenty of these, this issue virtually
prevents us from using Evergreen as Zotero data source.

However, I have had a look at other Evergreen catalogs (including the
one from Laurentian University) and it seems to me that the problem is also
 present there, e.g.
 https://laurentian.concat.ca/eg/opac/record/104728?query=francais;qtype=keyword;locg=105;detail_record_view=1
(Le francais renouvelé - the é character is wrongly interpreted as could
be seen at the attached picture).

Both in Jabok library catalog and in the catalog at Laurentian I have
encountered the same problem when trying to print sample records with these
 say special characters, e.g.
 https://laurentian.concat.ca/eg/opac/record/print/104728?query=francais;qtype=keyword;locg=105;detail_record_view=1

Firefox seems to interpret the character encoding as Unicode when
viewing the usual (not the print) version of the bib record but when one
hits the Print button and then - when the print version is displayed -
checks the encoding, Firefox interprets it as Western. Koha users have also
been trying to sort out a similar issue (
 https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/39395/koha-translator-encoding-problem/)
 - in their case the solution seems to be to modify opac-export.pl to
 export as UTF8.

Any ideas how to fix the issue in Evergreen? (Jabok uses Evergreen
 2.6.4.)

Thank you in advance for sharing any hints!

Hi, that's an interesting problem. Zotero uses Evergreen's MODS output,
and it seems that the problem crept into the conversions that use specific
 MODS versions; compare

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Customizing OPAC for each library in consortium

2015-07-08 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

We are currently creating our first tiny Evergreen consortium, and I have a
question concerning the OPAC settings.

Is there a possibility to customize the OPAC differently for each library
in consortium?
The desired functionality is something like this:

   1. When patron from Library1 opens the link to catalog
   - the default search library on the catalog homepage is set to
  Library1
  - the OPAC homepage is customized just for Library1 (i. e. patron
sees only the information related to Library1, maybe logo of Library1
  etc.).
   2. Similarly when patron from Library2 opens the link to catalog - the
default search library on the catalog homepage is set to Library2 etc.

I know how to create the custom TPAC templates directory and how to set the
template overriding in Apache, but as I understand it, the custom template
for each library is applied only when patron is logged in to OPAC.

Is there a possibility to customize catalog pages without logging in?
(According to several Evergreen consortia catalogs I have examined it
seems to me that this is possible. But how?)

Could you please give me a hit, how to do it?

Thanks a lot.

Eva

11 into appropriate thesaurus value, the autority record in Evergreenhas

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Authorities

2015-09-14 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

We are currently working on implementation of Czech national authorities
to Evergreen. We have already done a lot of work but yet new and new
problems to be solved emerge before us ;-) .
I would like to ask you for a help with two questions:

1) *How is it possible to define a controls set for authority batch
import?*
So far we have defined new control set for national authorities, we have
assigned thesauri to it and addend authority fields. Than we have
successfully imported MARC XML file containing Czech national
 authorities.
The problem is that each of the imported authority record have been
automatically assigned to the thesaurus „n“ (which stands for „not
applicable“) defined in Library of Congress control set. How shall we
define the proper thesaurus and control set? Is it possible to define the
thesaurus and control set for the import file (e.g. in the import script)?
Or is it necessary to add appropriate thesaurus code somewhere to MARC
authority record in the import file before the import?

2) My second question is *how do you provide the regular batch update of
existing authority record in Evergreen*? Could you share your workflow with
us? As we consider possible scenario for updating authority records that
already exist in the Evergreen without breaking the linking to
bibliographic records any idea would by very helpful for us.

Thanks a lot
Eva

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Changing the Currency Symbol

2015-09-29 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Jayaraj

There is a setting in Admin that allows you to set up a currency type for
the Acquisition, see http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.8/_currency_types.html.
I believe you must have admin_currency_type permission to be able to change
the setting.
After you have set a new currency you can assign it to any provider.

About fines it might be more complex:

   - For the patron account display in OPAC you can change the currency in
   the tt2 template /openils/var/templates/ opac/part/header.tt2. Tthere you
would want to edit the value for "USE money = format" . I would recommend
not to change the original file but to use overriding the template instead,
   see http://docs.evergreen-ils.org/2.8/_how_to_override_templates.html
   - In the staff client it is not so easy. For the Czech localization we
decided to replace the currency symbol $ with the Czech currency symbol
when translating the Evergreen into Czech. This means there is a Czech
currency symbol displaed in the bills and fines interface of the staff
client. The Czech translation strings for the bills and fines are stored
   in /openils/var/web/xul/rel-2_8_2/server/locale/ cs-CZ/circ.properties.
I suppose editing this file might solve your problem (but of course
instead of cs-CZ you must choose the appropriate directory depending of the
   localization you use).

Hope this helps

I think I have already done some portion of translations in Lanchpad so it

I might probably need help with some issues like where I can find

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Evergreen translations by the numbers

2016-06-08 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I tried to summarize the previous discussion about (not) including
languages and translations to Evergreen according to actual translations
activity/support:

1) For the future releases the translation should be supported only when it
meets at least one of the following criteria:

- At least 70 % of translations are complete
- Translations have been updated within the past 12 months and at
least 50 % are complete
- It is known there is someone actively working on the translations
- There is a known living Evergreen catalog using the given language
- The en-* variation of translations should have an exception from
criteria above as they are a special case.

2) Role of translations coordinator

- He/she should communicate with translators and provide
information from Evergreen translators to developers and vice versa
- If possible he/she should help translators with issues related to
Evergreen translations in Launchpad etc.

3) As I have already noted before I can volunteer as a translations
coordinator at present.

4) It will be necessary to fix the person I shall communicate with. Should
this person be release manager? Or anyone else?

5) I am planning to contact translators to all languages and find out
information about the situation of particular translations (if it is
supported, used etc.). I suppose I will use Launchpad for it. However it
will be very helpful if you send me names (or contact also if possible) of
translators if you have an information about them.

6) From the previous conversation I understood that the proposal to skip
some unused languages concerns the future releases. It seems reasonable to
me as Idon´t think I will be able gather all information necessary for the
decision whether (not) to include particular language soon enough before
2.11 release (I am currently working on a project with quite close deadline
so I have limited time available).
However If there is a general consensus that we want to cut off the
unsupported languages immediately, according to criteria mentioned above
following languages should be definitely included to Evergreen at the
moment:

cs-CZ -- Czech (98,77 % complete)
hy-AM -- Armenian (79.18% complete)
fi-FI -- Finnish (73.09% complete)
en-CA -- English (Canada) (70.73% complete + "en-*" variation )
en-GB -- English (UK) (66,89 % complete - active within past 12 months +
"en-*" variation)
pt-BR -- Brazilian Portuguese (58.84% complete - active within past 12
months)
fr-CA -- French (52.84% complete - active within past 12 months)
es-ES -- Spanish (39.57% complete but there is known activity and number
of translations continues to grow every day :-) )

7) As a person trying to watch the new strings to translate I would
appreciate having information about new parts of Evergreen to translate
actually added to Launchpad. Does anyone know if it is possible to make
some setting in Launchpad to get information about newly added translation

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Evergreen translations by the numbers

2016-06-03 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

>From the perspective of Evergreen translator the proposal to narrow the
focus to languages that have actual users seems to be quite reasonable to
me.

I also agree with Galens criteria - in my experience if the locale project
is living the translations are surely updated at least ones a year. Also
the amount of translated strings usually does not drop below 70% (not
even when translation of new parts of Evergreen like web client have been
added to Launchpad).
I would only recommend to include one more criterion:
To keep the translation if there is a living Evergreen catalog using the
given language (although I think that at present it is not topical).

I wonder what would the "translation coordinator" exactly mean?
Would it just meen to keep an eye on translation statuses and activity in
Launchpad and communicate with translators on one side and Evergreen
developers on the other side good time before the Evergreen release?
In that case I think I could do it.

Holdability of the copy can be affected also by "Reference" flag. When
"Referece is set to "Yes", the copy is not holdable and can´t circulate

You should be able to see and edit Evergreen translations as it has the

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] opposite of force/recall hold

2016-10-09 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Holly,

when we need to catch particular copy of material that is circulating at a
time and don't want to place a hold, we usually use the "Alert message" in
copy editor. When the copy is being checked in (or out) the message pops
out and the staff is alerted that an action should be taken with the copy
(I am not sure if there isn´t any settling that could affect the popping
out). The alert message pops out until it has been deleted. It is possible
to apply the alert message to more copies at once.

I think this might solve your problem temporarily (though I understand that
it might be complication to confirm the overriding of alert message every
time the DVD is being checked in/out until the DVD is no more on hold).

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Web Client installation

2017-03-20 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Nawras,

I have solved the very same problem few hours ago ;-)
If you do not have valid certificate (issued by certificate authority),
you have to take the following steps:

- Open the page https://localhost:7682 (replace localhost by URL of your
catalog) and accept the certificate
- The do the same at the page https://localhost/eg/staff
Than you should be able to log in to web staff client .

Hope this help

I have added information concerning Evergreen translations and related

The page is intended primarily for translators (but some information might

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Issue holds

2017-07-03 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

does anyone have an experience with serial issues holds?

We started circulating serial issues some time ago. It has brought the need
to the staff or patrons to place hold on particular serial issue time to
time (if the desired issue has been checked out). However, the serial issue
hold capturing behave differently from book holds. In a fact, any serial
issue have never been successfully captured for the hold at check in and
the same applies for a Hold capture interface.
We looked at the record holds list interface. There has been displayed
information "no copy" in the "current copy" column. This has not changed
even after the particular serial issue has been checked in.
I have checked whether the copy of the serial issues or shelving location
has been holdable - they definitely has. I have also tried various check
in modificators. Nothing have worked for us.
Could I have miss any setting? Or could it be a bug?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Cataloging template for a specific OU

2017-08-03 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

is it possible to apply cataloging template for only a specific
Organizational Unit in Evergreen consortium?

We have some cataloging templates with pre-filled data specific for
particular library (e.g., cataloging template for theses) and there is no
point to show those templates to libraries that don´t use it. I have tried
to "hide" them placing the specific templates to "marc" folder in existing
custom templates folder (analogically as for the TPAC custom templates),
editing the settings in "marc templates" section in opensrf.xml (and
restarting Evergreen). However, all cataloging templates are still visible
for any library in the consortium.

Have I missed something? Or is it currently impossible in Evergreen to
apply specific cataloging template to specific library only?
Thanks for the ideas.

Hi Jane,

here are some ideas from the Czech Republic:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1zkCbzCkqdNItb77rjOyTyikhA2agZXIkeVAd2bFJXMQ/edit?usp=sharing
Not much of styling, mostly just changing the colors according to the
graphic style of particular library

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Reading History opt in on patron application

2017-10-18 Thread Cerninakova Eva

Hi,

I know it is a little bit out of the topic, but I have another question
regarding patrons reading history:

We were asked by some libraries, whether it is possible in Evergreen to
alert staff at checkout in cases when a patron had already borrowed the
same book before. Such feature is available in most of the ILS that are
used in the Czech Republic and patrons (and librarians too) find it
quite useful.

Is there such possibility in Evergreen? I don't think so, but I just want
to be sure.

By the way, Czech libraries would also appreciate reading history opt in on
patron application ;-)

Hey Josh,

An interesting proposal. I think it would be a neat addition to to add to
patron registration process.

Like Terran, staff being able to view a patrons reading history would be
better off as a togglable library setting. The fact that we can retrieve a
patrons reading history is a somewhat guarded secret due to privacy
concerns in our consortium.

Hello, we are running into the fact that many of our patrons that want to
make use of a reading history, don’t find out about it until long after
they sign up for an account. Many of these patrons are also non
computer/online catalog users, so there is no chance that they would ever
find the option to enable it themselves, and even if they knew about it,
they wouldn’t be able to set it themselves. So they find out about it
after talking with staff, and then get mad when they find out that it will
only have their history starting at the point they sign up. Since they
don’t use computers, they need staff to walk them through (do it for them)
logging into their account and finding the option, so it would be handy if
staff could just do it for them.

We could set the library setting to default the checkout history to being
enabled, but we really don’t want to make that decision for everyone, and
then put the onus on them to figure out how to use the catalog to turn it
off.

So we are considering adding an opt in checkbox to the patron application,
along with a user setting that staff can check, to allow staff to enable
the circ history at patron registration time. The user setting being
checked or unchecked would trigger a nightly process that would
enable/disable the reading history for that account.

In theory, this could result in a customer saying that they never signed
up for the feature, saying that staff did it on their own. But since it is
already trivially easy for staff to log into the catalog as a customer, it
seems like that would already be a problem. (staff know what the default
pin numbers are based on, or could just change the pin, a customer that
never uses the catalog would never know that the pin was changed)

Has anyone else done this or something like this? Is this a horrible idea?

I think staff would also like to be able to access the patrons history
from their staff stations, which would make readers advisory easier.
“Which Louis L’Amour titles haven’t I read yet”.

We have had problems in the past with patrons physically marking books
that they have read before, to make it easier for them to find the ones
they haven’t read.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 3.2 Preparing for XUL client removal / browser client blockers

2018-05-18 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

for the Czech Evergreen community the browser client blockers are some
parts of the web staff client, that are shown as "untranslated". For
example untranslated field labels on patron edit/registration screen
, profile permission
groups, statuses and copy locations
, overriding checkout
failure messages or patron
alert blocks.

Since we have started to test the web staff client localization great
progress has been made and it is nice to see every promising change. Many
thanks to all who have contributed to it. :-)

However, issues mentioned above are critical for us, especially for
circulating staff who must quickly respond to various difficult situations
in contact with patrons. This is a real obstacle to using a web client in
production in Czech libraries. And the list does not end there.

Our insight into localization issues is very limited, but i f we can help,
we will do our best - we really look forward to enjoying with the other
Evergreen community all excellent new features available in web client like
email receipts, batch editing of patron records, notice columns in Items
out grid etc. ;-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Z39.50 Source

2018-04-29 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

During the weekend, I have set up a new Z39.50 source in our catalog. The
source is provided by the Czech library portal Knihovny.cz

As the Z39.50 source is free (no credentials needed) and contains records
from various European libraries outside the Czech Republic, I wonder if it
could be useful for other Evergreen libraries too.

Following library catalogs are included into the Z39.50 source:

   - University of Oxford (UK)
   - Bibsys (Norway)
   - University of Basel (Switzerland)
   - Slovak National Library (Slovakia)
   - Network of Libraries and Information Centers in Switzerland
   - Norwegian national bibliography (Norway)
   - GBV Common Library Network of the German States Bremen, Hamburg,
   Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein,
Thüringen and the Foundation of Prussian Cultural Heritage (Germany)
   - Library of Congress (USA)

If you are interesting, you can find the necessary settings for Evergreen
bellow.

Rogan,

thanks for your note. I am glad I am sure about the current state now.
You are definitely right about the workflow - if not thoroughly thought
out, such feature could potentially slow down the checkout process . I
think I will try to find out how this is dealt with in other ILS and
libraries workflow ;-)

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Check out history CSV download contains less information than displayed within a browser?

2018-01-17 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Jesse,

You can configure template for the checkout history CSV download in the
staff client:
Admin > Local Administration > Notification/Action Trigger
The name of the trigger event definition for CSV output is "Circ History
CSV"

However, in our system the CSV is the same (by default) as what patron
can view in web browser.
The template for CSV output looks like this:

Title,Author,Call Number,Barcode,Format
[%-
FOR circ IN target;
bibxml = helpers.unapi_bre(circ.target_copy.call_number.record, {flesh
=> '{mra}'});
title = "";
FOR part IN bibxml.findnodes('//*[@tag="245"]/*[@code="a" or
@code="b"]');
title = title _ part.textContent;
END;
author = bibxml.findnodes('//*[@tag="100"]/*[@code="a"]').textContent;
item_type =
bibxml.findnodes('//*[local-name()="attributes"]/*[local-name()="field"][@name="item_type"]').getAttribute('coded-value')
%]

[%- helpers.csv_datum(title) -%],
[%- helpers.csv_datum(author) -%],
[%- helpers.csv_datum(circ.target_copy.call_number.label) -%],
[%- helpers.csv_datum(circ.target_copy.barcode) -%],
[%- helpers.csv_datum(item_type) %]
[%- END -%]

Hope this helps ;-)

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Check out history CSV download contains less information than displayed within a browser?

2018-01-17 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Jesse,

I think I was probably wrong :-(
I looked once more again at the template and it seems to me that the
definition of CSV output in our system probably could not be configured by
the template "Circ History CSV". I don´t see anything like "Checkout Date"
or "Due Date" in the template in trigger event definition. However, I
definitely have the Checkout Date, Due Date and Date Returned column in
checkout history CSV output in my account. So probably the definition for
the CSV output would be somewhere else. I wonder if it could have changed
in some of the Evergreen versions (we use Evergreen 2.12)?
Sorry for the confusion.

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Reports - Simple Record Extracts

2018-01-01 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

after upgrade from Evergreen 2.10 to 2.12 (currently we are on 2.12.4) we
have discovered that some values extracted from the bibliographic record
were not included to reports. This specifically applies to simple record
extracts, particularly to these fields:

Item -> Call Number/Volume -> Bib Record -> Simple Record Extracts ->
Author (normalized)
Item -> Call Number/Volume -> Bib Record -> Simple Record Extracts -> Title
Proper (normalized)
Item -> Call Number/Volume -> Bib Record -> Simple Record Extracts ->
Publisher (normalized)
Item -> Call Number/Volume -> Bib Record -> Simple Record Extracts ->
Publication Year (normalized)
Item -> Call Number/Volume -> Bib Record -> Simple Record Extracts -> ISBN

The problem concerns not only "item" source (also "Invoice" and other
sources using simple record extracts), however, *applies only to records
created after the upgrade* - in cases when record had been created before
upgrade and only new copy was added after the upgrade, the record extracts
are included to report correctly, see example
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12KmF3jWjwWWFAzUt99HgF5rcWSh4Z8Bbj248iD1hn50/edit?usp=sharing
(items added after upgrade are red).

Could this be a bug?
And is there a way how to get correct values in autor column, title column
etc. to reports? Maybe there is any other way than using simple record
extracts?
Thanks a lot for any hint.

Eva

Hi Josh,

the problem was really in the trigger - many thanks for your help ;-)

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Towards more consistent terminology in the web client

2018-08-08 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

let me add a few notes about consistent terminology both from the
perspective of a person who trains staff to work in Evergreen and from the
point of view of the Evergreen translator.
In both cases I would definitely advocate for the maximum consistency of
used terms (however, I also agree with Dan that in some cases it is
important to keep in mind the clarity of a particular term in its context).

Evergreen is very complex ILS. So if you are Evergreen newcomer, learn
about Evergreen functions or try specify the optimal library workflow, it
always makes things easier if the same term is always used for the same
thing (no matter whether you are system manager, cataloger, circulator
etc.).

When it comes to translations, the consistency is perhaps even more
important. As the strings are translated separately from the Evergreen,
using more terms for the same thing can be confusing or problematic in many
ways.

Just one example: During translation I came across the term "location",
that was probably originally used for the "library" or "organizational
unit" in Evergreen, but in some cases it was also used in the meaning of
"Shelving location". Both terms were translated differently to Czech, so
this particular case of inconsistency was really misleading not only for
translators but primarily for the Evergreen users. Unfortunately, the
"location" inconsistency (or similar cases) is impossible to solve using
different translation terms (as during the last year it turned out, that
if one English term had two or more different translations available in
the chosen locale language, the web staff client didn't translate the term
at all).

Another example: Some English terms can be translated many ways (e.g., word
"hold" is possible to translate to Czech by about fifty words). This means,
that additional (inconsistently used) term coud lead to different
translation and could in some cases slightly shift the meaning of the
translation string. Moreover, due to further terms the number of
translation strings increases too. This may cause unwanted inconsistencies
in translations that may have negative consequences on localization
functionality in some cases.

By the way, number of translation strings increases not only by
inconsistently used terms but also due to "typing inconsistencies" like
Activate On — Activate on, Add Special Issue — Add special issue, Apply
Standing Penalty/Message — Apply Standing Penalty / Message, Call Number —
Callnumber, Identification Type2 — Identification Type 2, etc.

As translator are usually the first who come across such inconsistencies, I
wonder if we could help a little with the issue. For example it would be
possible to settle on what to do in such cases (like sending email, adding
the term to Launchpad bug or on specific Evergreen dokuwiki page etc.).

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Date and currency formats in the web staff client

2018-04-10 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

we have successfully set up the date format using the Library Settings
Editor

However, we have not found yet the currency setting for the patron
billing interface in the web staff client (see the attachment).
There is "currency" string used in some TT2 templates (e.g.,
Open-ILS/src/templates/staff/circ/patron/t_bills.tt2
<http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=blob;f=Open-ILS/src/templates/staff/circ/patron/t_bills.tt2;h=bdc6c276d8a607a6fc98c8f5b567ba702901c3e5;hb=HEAD>
)
Is there a way to setup the "currency" other than USD in the patron
interface in the staff client?
It is unclear to us where the staff client takes currency variable. Could
it possibly be from Open-ILS/src/perlmods/lib/OpenILS/SIP/Patron.pm:420
<http://git.evergreen-ils.org/?p=Evergreen.git;a=blob;f=Open-ILS/src/perlmods/lib/OpenILS/SIP/Patron.pm>?
Would it be possible to change the setting here?

Thanks for any hint

2018-04-09 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I need to change date and currency formats in the web staff client
(3.1.0).
I knew, that for the TPAC it was possible to set data and currency format
in the header.tt2 template so I looked for a similar setting for the web
staff client. However, I was not successful.
Can you advise me where to find this setting?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mike,

Many Thanks for the explanation.

I agree, that better use of the permission description field displaying
instead of/ in addition to the code would sufficiently solve the
permission translation issue.

I have opened the wishlist bug regarding fixed field mnemonics translation:

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Fixed-field elements mnemonic names translations

2018-03-26 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi all,

I have a question about translation of fixed-field elements mnemonic names
(like BLvl, DtSt, Audn etc, see
https://www.oclc.org/bibformats/en/fixedfield.html.) used in Evergreen in
the fixed field grid. We have not translated the mnemonic names to Czech
yet (and as far as a know, neither they have been translated to some of
supported Evergreen languages). However, it turned out eventually, that
the using of English mnemonic names is not very practical for Czech
catalogers. That is why we would like to translate them to Czech now. At
this point two practical question came up:

1. Must translation necessarily consist of only four characters, as the
original mnemonic names mostly do? Or would it be possible use to use more
characters for translation, possibly from six to eight (e.g. Ctry translate
as ZemVyd, or GPub translate as VladPub) without causing a crush of the fix
field grid interface?

2. Is it safe to use a special Czech characters (extended ASCII characters
like ž, š, č, ř ...) for mnemonic names translation? Or could i cause a
problem?

Thanks in advance for an answer

Eva

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Fixed-field elements mnemonic names translations

2018-03-26 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Ben and Mike,

Thanks both of you for very useful information.

I must admit I have been little surprised by your answers. I was sure it
is possible to translate those strings (at least in XUL client) because I
found them in Launchpad translations in fm-idl.dtd template (see e.g.
https://translations.launchpad.net/evergreen/master/+pots/fm-idl.dtd/cs/+translate?batch=10=all=Audn)
. I only asked to make sure how to deal with them because I suspected that
the values represent a special codes and could be used by system
differently than ordinary strings (which turned out to be true).
Thanks for pushing new branch - I will open a Launchpad wishlist bug and
send the link

I have one more question, that is similar to the previous. I would like
to translate Evergreen permissions too. This could be useful for staff at
least in situation, when pop-up window appears with important information
about insufficient permission etc. I have found those permissions in
Launchpad translations too (in this case in db.seed template, see e.g.
https://translations.launchpad.net/evergreen/master/+pots/db.seed/cs/+translate?batch=10=all=UPDATE_COPY_STATUS).
Again, I was not sure whether to translate this because this looks like
"system string" that could be handled specifically by the Evergreen.
Is it safe to translate it (may be I should also ask whether permissions
are translatable at the moment).

Thanks for one more answer ;-)

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] batch editing shelving location change problem

2018-12-12 Thread Cerninakova Eva

Hi John,

What is the status of checked-in items?

If it is "in transit", it may have something to do with the workstation
registration library. I believe by default the "Stack" shelving location is
associated with "Consortium" and if new locations are associated with
other particularlibrary, the system may put the cheched-in items to
transit to the shelving location library (depending on the library where
the workstation has been registered).

Thanks a lot both of you ;-)

I was thinking the same way Jane, so I have at least put a link to a
pre-arranged search for English and German titles using a query with
-item_lang (cze) to our catalog homepage. I hope this can partly help our
students to solve the problem.

I have also tried to delete the 041 field and its subfield from Record
Attribute Definition on our test server today, similarly as it is suggested
in the documentation Andrea have sent. However, the search result haven't
changed, see

I wonder whether it is necessary to do anything else?

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] How to exclude the field 041 value from search by language

2018-09-18 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

I would like to ask whether there is a possibility to exclude the value of
the field 041 when searching by language in the Evergreen catalog (and
search only by the value specified in the 008 field).

Our students often need literature in German or in English for their
language lessons. In our previous Evergreen versions they used to search
English or German materials using language filter in the OPAC. Our
consortium have upgraded to Evergreen 3.1 this summer. Version 3.1 allows
combining the searched languages by extracting values from both the 008
control field and the 041 data field. Unfortunately, this excellent new
ability has unexpected consequences for searching in our catalog. When
search query is filtered for example by English language of the item, most
search results are in Czech nevertheless. The reason is quite simple: most
scholarly materials contain resume in English or German (or both), and
information about language of an existing resume is usually specified in
the field 041 $b of the bib record. This means, the filtering by language
is useles for our users at the moment ;-( .

Example of the search query filtered by English language of the item:
https://knihovna.jabok.cuni.cz/eg/opac/results?bool=and=title=contains==and=author=contains=&_adv=1_record_view=0%3Aitem_lang=eng=102=is===
Example of the search qurey filtered by German language of the item:
https://knihovna.jabok.cuni.cz/eg/opac/results?bool=and=keyword=contains==and=title=contains==and=author=contains=&_adv=1_record_view=0%3Aitem_lang=ger=102=is===

Is there some setting available, that would exclude the values specified in
field 041 from the search result when searching by language of the item?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Evergreen 3.3 Release Update

2019-02-25 Thread Cerninakova Eva
 Hi Daniel,

Considering the last year discussion about integrating Angular 6 template
translations into the Evergreen translation tools, I would like to ask a
question about translation workflow of Evergreen 3.3 release. Will it
change some way in comparison with previous releases, due the impossibility
to use Launchpad for translations of Angular strings? And if so, how the
Angular strings are supposed to be translated during the 3.3 release
process? (I am asking from translators point of view.)

Thanks for the answer ;-)

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Problem loading report inteface

2019-05-24 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi,

I wonted to test some localization bugs and problems related to reports
using our Evergreen test server environment (3.3.0, Czech localization).
However, I came across a problem, that the web client report interface can
be loaded only partially (see the attachment) and templates search and
folder links don't work at all (in production environment using Evergreen
3.1.4 the report interface is loaded normally - there are, however, other
problems that I just wanted to test).
I compared the report interface with Blake's sandbox - everything works
fine there.

I'm not sure if it's a localization problem or if it can be caused by some
specific settings.

Don't you have an experience with similar behavior of reporter interface
(or idea, what could cause the problem)?

Thank you in advance for any hint.
Eva

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] 3.3.3 staff client receipt printing & defaults

2019-09-09 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Josh,

it is possible to set global print templates using modified templates in
/openils/var/templates/staff/share/print_templates/ as you suggest. We use
Evergreen 3.2 currently and this setting works fine for us. It is also
possible to set multiple "global" templates based on the location using
templates overriding.

Hope this helps

[OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Organizational unit address in receipt templates

2019-07-31 Thread Cerninakova Eva
 Hi,

I am trying to set up web staff client print templates for our consortium
(in Evergreen 3.3.2). We would like to use the same print templates for
the whole consortium and avoid the necessity to save the templates locally.
We need include "current" library address (i.e., address of the library,
where the receipt is printed) in some receipt. However, I have not found
and opportunity to add the library addres data to receipt templates. It is
only possible to add library code and name.
In the XUL client, we used the opportunity to set up the receipts header
and footer for the particular library in the Library Setting Editor. The
setting is present in the web client too, but I suppose it is obsolete and
don't work with the angular print templates. (Or I am wrong?)

Ideally we need to add at least the organizational unit physical (or
mailing) address street1, city, zip code, phone number and SAN to the
following templates:

   - Bills, Current (t_bills_current.tt2

   )
   - Bills, Historical (t_bills_historical.tt2

   )
   - Bills, Payment (t_bill_payment.tt2

   )
   - Patron data (t_patron_data.tt2

)
   - (some of our libraries would like to use this print output for the
"official" patron-library contract, so they need not only the library
   name, but also the address)

Is there presently an option to insert automatically the current library
address into the print outputs listed above?

Thanks a lot for any help

Eva

I filed a bug a while back regarding the HTML-less nature of these library
settings in the web client. It can be found here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1801143

This is also almost possible in the print templates themselves, but I don't
think all the necessary fields are exposed currently. For example,
{{current_location.billing_address}} gets me the ID associated with the
workstation library's billing address. However, if I try things like
{{current_location.billing_address.street1}} or
{{current_location.billing_address.city}}, it does not work. I tested in
the Bills, Current template, so I can't say this will be true for all
templates.

The library's name can be displayed with {{current_location.name}}.

Hi Eva - you can still use the library settings to add standard text

Re: [OPEN-ILS-GENERAL] Heads up for Angular translators

2020-03-09 Thread Cerninakova Eva
Hi Bill,

I have two questions about Angular translations

1) Would it be possible to provide some feedback like comments or
explanation to strings containing variables or part of code (preferably
right in Poeditor) which part of the string to translate and which not. It
seems obvious , that the parts in quotation marks should not be translated,
but in some cases I guess it applies not only to the parts enclosed in
quotation marks.
E. g. in the string:
*Error generating print content for template name="{{**name}}{{name}}" / id="{{**id}}{{id}}" *
I suppose the
*name=*
is part of the code too and only the
*Error generating print content for template*
should be translated (but I would like to be sure about it ;-) )

By the way, I would really appreciate having some information about the
context of the string (e.g. translation of the „order“ might be different
depending on whether it is used in the acquisition or for hold management).
In Launchpad, the context may be partly derived from the template in which
the string is located, but such a possibility is not available in Poeditor.

2) The second question is more about the Peoditor function or interface
As a "contributor" (which is the standard translator's role in the
Poediotr) I don't have an opportunity to copy the English string to
translation field by one click (as it is possible in Launchpad). Such a
feature is widely used and is quite useful, especially in cases when string
contains white spaces, variables etc. It is cumbersome to copy and paste
the original string to the translation field, because a lot of unwanted
characters or white spaces or parts of the interface are copied to the
translation field with the string.
In the POEditor Knowledge base I have found the following information :
*Contributors do not have access to the Copy Terms to Translations feature,
but they can ask the project owner or an administrator to do this *(see the
https://poeditor.com/kb/how-to-copy-strings-to-empty-translation-boxes)
Would it be possible to have copied the original string to translation
field if the string contains variables or part of the code?

Thanks
Eva

Thanks a lot for the information about strings translation and about the

However, I have one more question:
In POEditor, I miss the suggestions function based on previously translated

helps a lot to limit duplication and inconsistencies. There is a similar
function “Translation memory suggestions” in POEditor, see
