Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2021-01-06 Thread Jogga

Is there any possibility to change the sorting order of the Spotify
playlists when using Spotty?
It seems as if they are sorted by date of creation, which is a bit
inconvenient when the number of Spotify playlists increases. A
possibilty to sort them alphabetically instead would be really nice :)

My guess is that you're not telling faac what format is the input.
Spotty spits raw pcm, not wav so faac has no idea what it is receiving.
You can have a look at the other rules

2021-01-04 Thread Ron F.

I was a bit curious, and due to the recent discussion about streaming
AAC using Spotty, I thought I would try to see if I could create a
custom convert rule for SPT->AAC that could be used by Spotty - as an
experiment. Again, this is not an important issue, but I was curious
nevertheless... In a nutshell I could not get it to work, and I am
stumped. I tried using both faac and ffmpeg to do the spt->aac
transcoding, and I encountered essentially the same failure in both
cases: the conversion appears to be taking place, but not in
"real-time." The conversion of each track in a Spotify playlist begins,
at least I see thousands of frames converted, but they are not streaming
to the player. I don't see error messages, I just see the player jump
from track to track, attempting to play a few seconds each time, before
jumping to the next one in the list.

There is most likely something quite basic here that I do not
understand:

spt aac * *
# RT:{START=--start-position %s}
[spotty] -n Squeezebox -c "$CACHE$" --single-track $URL$ --bitrate
320 --disable-discovery --disable-audio-cache $START$ | [faac] -r -P -b
320 -o - -

The rule for using ffmpeg to do the transcoding to AAC is considerably
more complex, and also appears to be transcoding successfully, but the
end result is the same, in that nothing is being piped or flushed out of
the transcoder in real-time.

2021-01-04 Thread Mirage

A few days ago I had the problem where it says I should get a client ID.
As I assumed it was related to that I just changed to new Pi 4 server I
asked about it in this thread:
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113512-ANNOUNCE-piCorePlayer-7-0-0=1001832=1#post1001832

After reading the replies I understod that that it was related to the
client ID. When I tried Spotify later it worked as usual.

Can this problem come and go? Is the general recommendation now to get a
client ID, even if Spotify works now?

When I looked at settings for Spotty now I found something I haven't
seen before. Next to my account it says "Import" and I can choose Yes or
No (it's set to No). What is this?

Him

I just wanted to say that I've been suffering quite a lot of problems
with Spotty and especially using Spotify Connect with LMS on Windows.
It's never been stable.

I finally had time to deinstall the plugin, delete all the folders and
to start from scratch. I've also added my own Spotify Client ID. And now
everything is beautifully working.

I started from the initial Spotty version, so presumably some gunk had
built up in the settings. Worth a try if you are suffering.

Thanks a lot Michael!

Very interesting. Thanks for that. I believe that solves the
question/problem for me. Since my NA6006 doesn't support Vorbis then I
can only assume it's taking the 256kbit AAC stream from Spotify Connect
in the same way Chromecast does.

converting the Ogg Vorbis stream to FLAC doesn't actually increase (or
change at all) the sound quality of the stream. It is simply converted
to FLAC to make it possible for all squeeze devices to play the stream.
The FLAC stream is still the same underlying 320kbps Ogg stream in a
FLAC wrapper.

p.s. The likelihood of being able to detect the difference in a 320kbps
Ogg stream and a 256 AAC stream is probably zero, unless the volume of
the two streams is quite different. Or there is something odd being done
in the decoding, etc. In sum, a high bit rate mp3 file, Ogg Vorbis
file, and AAC file should be transparent to the listener.

You're missing that the AAC is *only* for the webplayer. Not devices and
apps (like a desktop app running on your PC, your smart phone,
or--importantly--your squeezebox player. Spotify doesn't use mp3. The
320kbps they refer to is using the Ogg Vorbis codec.

Same table but I think we are interpreting it differently. The free
column applies to all devices limited to128kbit\s AAC. The Premium
column gives the user quality options with the best quality at 256kbit/s
AAC at least that's the way I'm reading it. Spotify are claiming
256kbit/s AAC equates to 320kbit/s MP3.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2021-01-01 Thread Michael Herger

Generally earlier spotty showed in LMS streaming as Ogg Vorbis at
320kbits but now every track shows as -705kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify)
(Converted to FLAC)-. I assume that even though this looks like it is a
higher bitrate, it won't offer any improvement as the original stream is
at 320 kbps. Also why is it necessary to do the conversion now anyway?

The library I'm using (librespot) doesn't support Ogg direct output, but
would convert everything to PCM. This in turn is losslessly compressed
using flac by LMS, to save bandwidth and buffer requirements on the
player. As you say: doesn't change a bit about the sound quality, the
transcoding is only required due to some limitations.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2021-01-01 Thread The Groundsman

Sorry to be a bit slow on this - I did try and follow the recent posts
but I'm still not clear.

I used to Stream Spotify Connect to a Chromecast Audio and was reliably
informed that Spotify doesn't officially support streaming to Chromecast
Audio. In the Spotify Android app the google hardware shows up as
*Google cast* rather than *Connect*. Spotify converts their stream to
AAC (as used in spotify the web player). This casting at AAC 256kbit/s
is inferior to regular Spotify Connect of 320 kbits/s.

Hoping someone can clarify for me.

regards
Nicholas

Having played around with it a bit I personally find the AAC stream from
Spotty via Spotify Connect (which is supported natively by the Marantz)

According to

Having played around with it a bit I personally find the AAC stream from

The Marantz N6006 looks like a nice streamer, but the published spec I
found does not indicate support for Ogg Vorbis. I assume then when using
Spotty, slimserver will transcode the Spotify Ogg Vorbis stream to 705
kbps FLAC and stream that to the N6006 client. This is a reasonable
outcome. Transcoding to AAC - another lossy format, can only result in
degradation of the incoming stream.

Looking at the slimserver convert.conf file, it does not appear there
are any rules for transcoding to AAC, but I imagine a custom rule could
be added using [sox] that would do this. It would have to be sox, as
faac is not included in the slimserver package.

Thank you for the quick response Michael. Just to clarify I am using
Philippe's UPnP bridge plugin with my Marantz N6006 streamer. This

I have try to create an app and put the client id in spotty config, but
it's not working :8

I use the plugin Spotty in version 4.4.5 on Logitech Media Server
Version: 8.1.0 - 1608700893 @ Wed Dec 23 12:11:22 CET 2020

What can I do or provide to help to debug this issue ?

I have Spotty 4.4 installed.

Which exact build?

I have client ID created and in place and also have web token. These
both show up in Spotty settings.

The latest version doesn't have the web token setting any more... Please
update to the latest and make sure you got the clinet ID setting correct.

2020-12-27 Thread stroudpete

I have Spotty 4.4 installed.
Spotty playlists appear in Playlists folder alongside my playlists from
my own collection.
I have client ID created and in place and also have web token. These
both show up in Spotty settings.

However, I cannot search Spotify for music or artists from Spotty.
Despite having web token and client ID I still get an error when I click
on the Spotty icon in material skin. It states "Failed to get access
token
Please check Settings/Advanced/Spotty Spotify for Squeezebox in the web
interface".
If I do a search for music it gives me the option of searching Spotify
but when I search it just says 'no result found'.

Please advise

Wait a bit, but I truly recommend 8.1+ that will be released probably
soon. In 8.0 there is a major improvement with online service
integration that Michael has done and I've done some work in 8.1 about
Tidal / transcoding / flac streaming support. Unfortunately I left a
blatant mistake in 8.1 that I've corrected now but needs to be
integrated and Michael has better things to do than dealing with my
idiocies these days :)

Did you check whether it actually was a special character? Note that
there are different space characters in Unicode, for example.

Hi Michael,
Yup, maybe. I´m not even a 100% sure if the colon is the core of the
problem. I just realized this new feature and suspected it to be the
culprit why i can´t show playlists anymore (in the homeautomation). Favs
and Artists still work the same way as before. I know this is not really
a spotty problem, but it´s always hard to not using a feature anymore if
it was working before ;)

I will try to find a workaround.

Thank you for your answer.

Anyone any idea how to circumvent the "Spotify:"-Prefix?

You currently can't. But would it really help? Wouldn't it just push out
the probability of a conflict a bit further? I don't know where you have
to parse what, but relying on a title not having a colon seems like a
rather vulnerable design. What if a playlist "ABBA: the last years" came
along? Yeah, don't "like" it will fix it :-D.

2020-12-22 Thread holle

Hi there, i just realized (i don´t know since when exactly this happens)
that all playlist in lms which are from spotify are getting a prefix
"Spotify:"

for example: "Spotify: ELECTRO" formerly (and still in Spotify) named
just "ELECTRO"

this seems nice but the colon completely destroys the usage for my
homeautomation system. The colon is used as data-delimeter for the
playlists.

Anyone any idea how to circumvent the "Spotify:"-Prefix?

thank you

In the Online Music Integration plugin, there's a Library View option -
"Show only local album if you have another copy in your online music
collection". Sometimes the Spotify copy of an album has a slightly
different title which defeats it, but generally this works well.

You are correct again, I had some odd albums in my search result that
did only have 1 song. I thought that was the Album showing as the song
and album had the same name.

But doing this for some more regular searches I do get the album songs
and the extra option Artist(s) at the end, which link me to more options
for each Artist.
And finally I have the year which doesn't do anything.

I would say for Artist this is what I expected from the More-options.
Perhaps More could also be omitted here as well, or selecting the main
element should be omitted and only allow for the More-options .
But again that is probably a bit weird, so there might already be a

When in Search results/Albums, selecting an Album element I would expect
to see the songs of the Album.
Now I get what I would say are the More-options
So for Albums there should be a More-option providing what it does
today.
But the selection on the Album element should give another result, the
songs of the album.

All according to my opinion and expectations of course...

I'm sorry if I misunderstood the reply I got in the Material thread, I'm
not trying blame or pointing fingers here. I should have limited my
experience to the Spotty search result.

After testing this a bit extensively in Spotty search result, I now see
that in some Search results, Spotty actually offer relevant
More-options.

Where I miss relevant More-options are in these use cases:

- Songs (on the first level of search results)
This gives me an empty More-options
->This More-option should be improved, it should results in the same
rich More-options menu you get from the playlist view.

- Playlists found in the sub-structure of Playlists
This gives me the Songs of the Playlist and no More-options
Repeating this on Songs gives an empty More-options
->This More-option can be omitted as it results is the same as selecting
the main entry

- Podcasts found in the sub-structure of Podcasts
This gives me the Episodes of the Podcasts and not More-options
Repeating this on Episodes gives an empty More-options
->This More-option can be omitted as it results is the same as selecting
the main entry

- Episodes found in the sub-structure of Podcast Episodes
This gives me an empty More-options
->This More-option should be improved, it should results in the same
rich More-options menu you get from the playlist view.

- Users found in the sub-structure of Users lacks More-options entry
->This More-option can be omitted as I can not se any relevant
More-options here

There are already relevant More-options menu for these...
- Artist found in the sub-structure of Artists
- Albums found in the sub-structure of Albums

This is *not* true. Material does -try- to check if the response from
LMS -indicates- if an item should have a 'More' option or not - which is
why it is -not- shown for all items. As stated in the Material thread,
something in this response is tripping Material up (and the fault is
very likely to be with Material).

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json
(Use http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json,cometd to also see update
messages, e.g. play queue) 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open
console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS
will be logged here.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2020-12-20 Thread jasell

Hi,
I'm a user of both Spotty and Material skin.

Material skin offer a More-option on most elements, independent if there
is any content to show or not.

I found myself numerous time trying to access the More-options from the
Spotty Search result view, but I get an empty list of More options.
In the default skin there is not More-options available, so for
none-material users this would not be a problem.

If I however start playing a song from Spotty Search result view and
then from the Playlist view select the More-option I get the More-option
with all kinds of action like Title or Artist radio that I use a lot.

I'm asking for Spotty to enable/present the More-options that are
available in Playlist view also in the Spotty Search result view.
It would benefit the user experience, but is not critical by any means.

Thanks for all the good works!

Jakob

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2020-12-19 Thread russella

Hey Michael,

I had some initial success with Spotty a few months ago, and got it set
up for my daughter who is the main Spotify user. We have several
SqueezeBox Radios and Spotify access would be a big benefit for their
continued use at our house. However recently Spotty stopped working.

On access at the radio, it says

"Failed to get access token
Please check Settings/Advanced/Spotty Spotify for Squeezebox in the web
interface"

Using the web interface, I have tried a few things...I have removed and
re-added my Spotify account info. I have also created a client ID,
although I am aware that might not be the solution for this issue. SO
far I haven't had any success changing or fixing the behavior.

My logs say:

LMS 8.8.0 is running on Lubuntu 10.04.5. Spotty is version 4.4.5. This
is after I updated LMS, and also Spotty to latest in an attempt to try
to fix this. Also LMS complained the firmware in my radios had the
version mismatch bug, so I got the Patch Installer applet installed, and
installed your Version Comparison Fix Patch. So far nothing has seemed
to make a difference.

I searched for a FAQ or others with similar issues to me but didn't come
up with much. I hope you can help, apologies in advance if this is
already answered and I just failed to find it.

Thanks, russella

2020-12-17 Thread The Groundsman

I have a few "go to" playlists in Spotify that I listen to and update
all the time.

To save time I put these in LMS favourites folder so they show up on the
home screen. When I load them up the only thing displayed is pages of
the Spotify URLs

spotify://track:[spotifyid]. i can still add the whole playlist

It's really not a problem as I can add the playlist to a player queue
from the favourites summary screen - I just wondered if this was expect
behaviour. It works the same in material and default Interfaces so
assume this is a Spotty thing.

Spotty suddenly lost the Spotify playlist structure, and showed just a
long list of the playlist names. A complete 'clear and rescan' of LMS
stopped as the Spotty playlist scan started with
Media scan terminated unexpectedly (Scanning Progress)

The scanning log is below. Any suggestions to restore the normal
behaviour of Spotty would be most welcome.

Thank you for the hint, "CLEAR and rescan of the database " has done
the job.

my mistake was to run a simple rescan.

Cheers Thomas

once you’ve set the online integration plugin to NOT integrate, you’ll
need to do a clear and rescan to get back to just local library.

Hello,

after the installation of LMS 8.0.1 and actualisation of all plugins, my
Spotify playlist are now listed in my playlist menu.
But I don't want them there. I was not able to remove them by using the
Online Integration plugin, delete the Spotty plugin, restart of the
server etc.

How can I remove the integrated Spotify content from my LMS and have
just the local content managed?

Cheers Thomas

Ok, thank you. I thought there would be more details to the songs on
705kbs, but i guess that was just placebo

Yeah, that can be confusing. Spotify indeed does only stream 320kbps,
but Spotty does transcode it, which usually results in a FLAC stream of
about the 705kbps.

That fixed it thank you.
Other question: Sometimes it tells me its streaming with 705kb/s, but
spotify only provides 320kb/s streaming right? Or is it really streaming
at 705kb/s?

That doesn't work sadly. I set it to 0, restartet the server and then
the whole pc.
Tried again with 1500, but it keeps loading only 495 tracks.

Did you create your own client ID for Spotify? (see Spotty settings)

I tried it with the DynamicPlaylist Plugin, but that also doesn't work

I've always thought that the Spotty implementation had limited play
length list separate (and not adjustable) from the LMS > Settings
location. For example, I have a 2,500+ playlist in Spotify, but when
added to LMS to play, I only get 191 songs listed. Maybe this is
something on the Spotify side, but I don't see any setting for this in
my Spotify app.

That doesn't work sadly. I set it to 0, restartet the server and then
the whole pc.
Tried again with 1500, but it keeps loading only 495 tracks.

After restarting, he settings still show the new values i set.

But i have a problem: I got some spotify playlist with around 1000songs,
but when i start the playlist in the LMS WebControl it only adds 495 of

the whole playlist?

Go to Settings/Advanced/Performance to increase the "Maximum Playlist
