invalid helo cmd - bug or what?
Hello, since updating to Powermail 6.2 emails can't be sent anymore. The error is invalid helo command. Re: invalid helo cmd - bug or what?
Jean Michel, the bug appears with Postfix, the version shipped with 10.6 server, TLS/SSL. I didn't tested it, because I use meanwhile Apple Mail because of missing support for PGP. There's not a one mail client on the market which could compete with a modern version of PowerMail, meaning full UTF and complete imap support (many parallel accounts open) with the search power of PM and the clean interface it offers. so I think a (partial) rewrite of PM would be actually the way to go. so please Jérôme, think about it. thanks Matthias

Changing that would probably require a nearly complete rewrite of PM in Cocoa as the code basis of PM is probably still mostly Carbon. PM was originally written in CodeWarrior and CW was bought out of the market quite some time ago. A complete rewrite is a huge amount of work and the risk the market won't compensate for the effort is quite high, although PM might get a new big fan community this way, who knows Go to the System Preferences (Systemeinstellungen) Sprache Text Eingabequellen Kroatisch With the Option Eingabequellen in der Menüleiste anzeigen. Whenever you have to write in Croatian language go there and choose Kroatisch. this won't work with PM as long as OSX standard-fonts are used, because they are all UTF. The old CE-Fonts are not available anymore on MacOS X. If your fonts for Mac OS X are no more complete, informe you on this page to download the right one: http://www.aatseel.org/resources/fonts/macintosh_central.htm they suggest to use OS 7 fonts. Re: Future
Koen, PM is a pure text based MUA for the MacOS. There's a new a new beta version available, which fixes some Lion bugs and will be compatible with 10.8. The version can be found here: http://powermail.simplenet.com/pm6.1.1b2.dmg Grouping E-Mail is available since quite some time in PM and PM has the best search engine of all mail clients I know of. GMail also works with PM as well as html rendering, you just can't compose mails with html, it'll be always text. If you need html composing and more funky stuff you might want to use another MUA. The same is valid if you need to have simultaneous access to several mail accounts with IMAP. If you need POP only PM is imho still the best MUA for the Mac :-) I still hope CTMDEV will change the IMAP implementation in the near future. That's actually my no1 feature request ... Yes, that is how this feature is implemented (but it searches for messages whose subject include the exact phrase foo bar). That is not perfect, as it will find messages belonging to different threads but with the same subject, especially for short subjects like hello. When it happened, quitting and relaunching the app always fixed it for me. If you're seeing the same thing I am, I doubt there's anything your app can do about it (unless the reason for very-long launch time is under the app's control). Don't give me one modal dialog for each account! Even better, use Growl. you can switch the dialog off in the preferences. Growl sounds like a good idea. 5) Stop random crashes. LetterRip and UTF
Hello, when mails are send from Outlook in UTF to a mailinglist, which is run by LetterRip, the mail is encoded in base64. But LetterRip does append his footer lines in a different encoding. This is not a crashing bug, but nearly as bad. I had to re-enter some passwords, but not all (which is mysterious). I had to enter all of them. I DID have a crashing problem on one account. When I changed the password and did a Save from the Accounts window I was crashing. I deleted the password from my Keychain, then I was able to enter it without crashing. yup looks like there's a bug when calling SecKeychainFindInternetPassword with the service name. I also had a crash. Thanks and all the best Matthias

I recently programmed something with the keychain and also had crashes, when the strings where not UTF-8 encoded. After converting everything to UTF-8, everything was fine :-) btw, deleting the entries in question of the keychain did the trick. Thanks and all the best Matthias

These apps, like Apertue don't respect the standard mail client and let one choose only between Mali, Eudora and Encourage, this is of course not what I want ;-) My guess would be that if an application does not respect the 'Default' mail application (which is set, somewhat controversially, via Apple Mail's preferences) then the only way to force the application to use PM would be with an app-specific patch/hack, like the one that forces iCal to use PM for its email alerts, or the one that adds PM to iPhoto's list of email options. that's exactly what I'm looking for. Do you know, were I can find those patches (for iPhoto and iCal)? Thanks and all the best Matthias
