Its not strange in the least that there are dropped packets on wifi as

I fact what is stranger is that you dont get it with other clients.

You can run LMS on a Pi and lots of people do, it works well apparently
(I do not so, going by feedback on here)
The simplest way of running LMS on a Pi is probably "Pcp" (aka
PiCorePlayer (Now v4.0.1))
There is a dedicated thread here for Pcp and you can find plenty of help

Are you sure you CAN'T use a VPN ? Is it a technical reason or your
skill level ?

If you can open a port on your router and have a fixed ip address (or a
method to automatically find your ip address ( google "dynamic dns"))
then with help you can use a VPN

If you can do the above then a way I can think of will cost you a
raspberry pi, some time and possibly a small price of a subscription to

Powersave is not a sleep timer its for turning off player after a set
period of inactivity.

Its (mainly) for people who have power amps controlled by the player.

Maybe ask mherger if sleep timer can be addded to LMS GUI ?

The Autorescan plugin does this.

On linux you'll need Perl:Linux:Inotify2 installed

On pCP you just need the plugin as Inotify2 is installed by defualt (I
Think if not can be installed from extensions)

Not sure about LMS on other OSes

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Server Machine Alternatives.

2019-08-02 Thread Jeff07971

I have installed around 10 or 12 powerline ethernet units all are better
than the wifi at there locations

They sometimes lose their connections with each other but a power cycle
of the units has up to now always been enough to reconnect.

A reliable connection with these devices will depend on noise on the
powerline, here in the UK we are relativly lucky in this sense.

No your question is about LMS nothing to do with picoreplayer. It was
not suggested you take this question elsewhere it was suggested you
change the title as this is about install problems with LMS on PC
Greg one of the developers of piCorePlayer would probably know what will
get you the best support !

I have only run LMS on Linux so can be little help for LMS on PC

Anyhow, if you have piCoreplayer running why not install LMS on the Pi

Do you run picoreplayer at the moment ?

There are reports on here that say pcp 6.0.1 runs LMS well on Pi4 and is
fast

Heat has been discussed as well due to the Pi4's CPU

The latest Pi3 (Pi3B+ I believe) works very well as a server, I have
built 3 now for friends

However the case that Kidstypike has used for the Pi4 looks good if
you're only after a server and can put it where the small amount of
noise will not be a problem.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TVLTMX3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you havent explicitly allowed ports for LMS then I would not expect
you to be able to "see" LMS at all from any other machine on the
network
Most linux OS's firewalls will only allow port 22 (SSH) by defualt
This leads me to surmise that your firewall is not enabled anyway

I do reverse proxy and reverse auth on the firewall (Sophos UTM) this
also does HTTP to HTTPS redirect works fine with "MediaServer smart
skill"

If Traefik can do the same it sounds like a good way to go especially if
you can also use fail2ban.

Code:

  dnf update -y
  dnf install wget
  wget
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/8.0/lms/9b9f2d148bae0021913bbe9642cce8dc83a3ad00/logitechmediaserver-8.0.0-0.1.1581050612.noarch.rpm

  ln -s /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/Slim /usr/lib64/perl5/Slim
  service firewalld stop
  systemctl restart logitechmediaserver

Then connect to LMS at :9000 to check all is working

If all OK then either setup firewalld (as in Centos 7 ) or disable it

Enjoy !

I've never tried Pi-Hole on a Pi but I run it on a Centos 7 VM and it
runs great.
I assigned 2Gb and 2 vCPUs to the VM and have 35 clients
I suspect it needs more power than a Pi can give though cpu usage seems
low

29405

I can't really see why you'd want it in/on pCP though !

Absolutely that's what I use it for, I did use dnsmasq but found it was

PiHole on decent hardware is much quicker than dnsmasq IMHO

I use it as DHCP and DNS, you can use do more advanced stuff with the

I Use TSOP38438 or TSOP38238

Pin 1 (OUT) to Pin 22 (GPIO 25)
Pin 2 (GND) to Pin 20 (GND)
Pin 3 (Vs) to Pin 17 (3v3)

GPIO 25 is the defualt in pCP

You use a Linux that does not have an SSH client  !!!
I didn't know such a thing existed !

If you have the keytable "justboomir" then with pCP 6 you can upload it
via the WEB GUI under "Tweaks"

I'm sorry I don't understand the question !

ssh client comes with every linux I know of, try (on you xenial64 box)
in a command prompt "ssh "

"justboomir" is the keytables file (conf file) for the JustBoom IR
remote

Well GPIO 25 (Not PIN 25) is defualt for pCP but a Pi 1 B does not have
GPIO 25
You'll have to work out one for yourself that isn't being used by your
DAC and then enter it in the WEB GUI

Had to go back and check myself !

Now put those values into a config file say DiodesTables.conf avoid
extended chars spaces etc in filename

In the form :-

# Description remark

KEYCODEKEY_PRESS

Heres one of mine :-

Code:

  # table: slimdevices, type: nec
  0x6e00 KEY_MINUS
  0x6e01KEY_EQUAL
  0x6e02 KEY_POWER
  0x6e03 KEY_Z
  0x6e04 KEY_C
  0x6e05 KEY_B
  0x6e06 KEY_A
  0x6e08 KEY_P
  0x6e07 KEY_UP
  0x6e09 KEY_LEFT
  0x6e0b KEY_RIGHT
  0x6e0d KEY_DOWN
  0x6e0f KEY_1
  0x6e10 KEY_2
  0x6e11 KEY_3
  0x6e12 KEY_4
  0x6e13 KEY_5
  0x6e14 KEY_6
  0x6e15 KEY_7
  0x6e16 KEY_8
  0x6e17 KEY_9
  0x6e19 KEY_0
  0x6e18 KEY_F
  0x6e47 KEY_F
  0x6e1a KEY_SLASH
  0x6e46 KEY_SLASH
  0x6e1b KEY_COMMA
  0x6e1c KEY_DOT
  0x6e1d KEY_S
  0x6e1e KEY_LEFTBRACE
  0x6e45 KEY_LEFTBRACE
  0x6e1f KEY_G
  0x6e0e KEY_SEMICOLON
  0x6e20 KEY_L
  0x6e44 KEY_H

If you store it on your laptop you can then use the pCP WEB GUI to
upload it under Tweaks>IR Page>Kernel Keytables

The list of protocols is given when you clear the tables initially.

Code:

  sudo ir-keytable -p all -c
  Old keytable cleared
Protocols changed to lirc rc-5 rc-5-sz jvc sony nec sanyo mce_kbd rc-6 sharp
xmp imon

The lirc protocol is listed when you scan the remote codes in.

Code:

  sudo ir-keytable -t
Testing events. Please, press CTRL-C to abort.
  2299.170167: lirc protocol(sony20): scancode = 0x1ae200
  2299.170259: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x1ae200
  2299.170259: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
  2299.230135: lirc protocol(sony20): scancode = 0x1ae200
  2299.230199: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x1ae200
  2299.230199: event type EV_SYN(0x00).
  2299.300131: lirc protocol(sony20): scancode = 0x1ae200
  2299.300199: event type EV_MSC(0x04): scancode = 0x1ae200
  2299.300199: event type EV_SYN(0x00).

So the protocol here is sony

and conf file looks like this

Code:

  #table: RMTB119A, type: sony
  0x1ae200 KEY_1

and notice NO SPACE after the # I seem to remember this was an issue

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS not playing RadioNet from favourites

2020-06-17 Thread Jeff07971

Hi All,

I have recently discovered the Radionet plugin for LMS and am enjoying
it, however there seems to be a problem.

I have favourite'd a couple of stations however they do not play from
the favourite menu, they play fine from the "Radio" menu

When I try to play this gets logged

Code:

  [20-06-17 10:34:05.6446] Slim::Formats::XML::gotViaHTTP (267) XML/JSON parse
error: Invalid XML feed
  [20-06-17 10:34:05.6658] Slim::Control::XMLBrowser::_cliQuery_error (1677)
Error: While retrieving [https://www.radio.net/s/cafedelmar]: [Failed to parse]

If I try to play the URL https://www.radio.net/s/cafedelmar nothing
happens and there is no log entry

Anyone have any ideas ?

Hi bpa

Thanks for the quick 2 replies !

Yes I was just testing it, it seems to be a Material problem.

I was using SL-X with Material originally.

If I create a favourite using Material WEB GUI or SL-X (Material) the
favourite will not play and the error is logged.

If I create the favourite using Classic WEB GUI the favourite will play
using Material WEB GUI or SL-X (Material) with no problems

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Latest nightly Update page on www.mysqueezebox.com

Hi,

There seems to be an error on the LMS update page

It seem to redirect to

I use a script which uses
"http://www.mysqueezebox.com/update/?version=8.*.*&revision=1&geturl=1&os=rpm";
this always returns "0" now

Anyone (I'm guessing MH) know a fix for this please

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] SlimP3 not connecting

2020-09-26 Thread Jeff07971

Have just fired up my SliMP3 and all seem to work, this is with LMS 8 on
a "Full Fat" Linux so not directly equivalent.

I was wondering if SliMP3 had auto LMS discovery (it does) however in
settings (at first boot) you can specify the LMS server IP Address.

I would try to specify the LMS server IP first and if all OK then try to
troubleshoot the autodiscovery failure.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] URL For latest Nightly no longer returns the correct URL

2020-12-03 Thread Jeff07971

Hi

I check the latest nightly release using the method on the wiki "URL to
check for the latest nightly build available"

I get the URL from this line

Code:

latest_lms=$(wget -q -O -

However this returns
"http://downloads.slimdevices.com/LogitechMediaServer_v8.0.0/logitechmediaserver-8.0.0-1.noarch.rpm";
which is not the latest NIGHTLY

I Also check the revision by

Code:

latest_release=$(echo $latest_lms | awk -F "logitechmediaserver" {'print
$2'} | awk -F "." {'print $5'})

and only update if the returned release is higher than that installed

But the return no longer has the release version, I did some looking
around and found that the nightlys do still have the release version in
the filename.

What is the new way to get the URL of the latest nightly ?

Thanks

Jeff

Hi Michael

Can you expand on that a bit please (in the wiki (I know is
unmaintained) it says a revision=1 always returns the latest and until
recently it has)

I've tried with my revison added and multiple versions of "version"
(8,8.0,8.0.0,8.0.1 etc) but no useful string is returned

Hi

I still have a problem unfortunately.

On the 23/11/2020 the script below ran fine

Code:

  #!/bin/sh
  ##DNF Version
  Installed_Release=0
  Installed_Release=$(dnf info logitechmediaserver | grep Release | awk {'print

  latest_lms=$(wget -q -O -

  Latest_Release=$(echo $latest_lms | awk -F "logitechmediaserver" {'print $2'}
| awk -F "." {'print $5'})

  if [ $Latest_Release -gt $Installed_Release ];then

  echo ""
  echo "Newer Release Available, Installing"
  dnf -y update $latest_lms
  sleep 30
  /usr/bin/systemctl restart squeezeboxserver
  sleep 60
(echo "wipecache"; sleep 1; echo "exit") | nc localhost 9090

  else

  echo""
echo "Newer Release NOT Available, Terminating"
  echo "Restarting"
  /usr/bin/systemctl restart squeezeboxserver
  sleep 60
(echo "wipecache"; sleep 1; echo "exit") | nc localhost 9090

  fi

  echo "Installed Release is "$Installed_Release

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] No "Now Playing" on streams after update from LMS 8.0.1-0.1.1606059084 to latest

2020-12-03 Thread Jeff07971

I have updated my LMS from 8.0.1-0.1.1606059084 to 8.0.1-0.1.1606928904
but after this I get no "Now Playing" information on streams using
Jivelite

It seems that the now playing is only broken for streams and Jivelite
Music from my server shows artwork and playing time etc but from streams
only get a blank screen with track playing time.
I have tried this with RadioIO, BBC Sounds and BBC iPlayer plugins
I have enabled Info logging for the plugins but get no errors

Things are all normal when using SL-X with Material skin or LMS Web
using default skin

What logging settings should I try to find the error ?

OS Is Centos8 x64

Thanks

Jeff

I kinda thought that what it might be but that, kinda makes auto update
into manual update dosent it if I have to specify the new version every
time the version goes up or will asking for 8.0.1 always give me the
latest stable ?

I guess you're trying to tell me to go with the xml
(http://downloads.slimdevices.com/releases/nightly/stable.xml) ?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Volume Display On SB3 in db

2020-12-18 Thread Jeff07971

Sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere else, if it has I
couldn't find it.

At some point between LMS versions 7.9.x and 8.0.x the volume display on
the screen on my 3 SB3's changed from a horizontal bar to a written db
reading IE "-35 db"

I think that it was the change from 7.9 to 8.0 that this coincided with,
however I'm now on 8.0.1 and I've just noticed that the display has gone
back to the horizontal bar.

Is this a setting somewhere ? I rather preferred the "Gain" reading
rather than the bar.

Thanks

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Peter Watkins' Plugins

2016-10-03 Thread Jeff07971

Hi All,

Does anyone have copies of Peter Watkins plugins ?

His repo was hosted on tux.org which has now gone dark
(http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata.xml)

I have tried contacting Peter but to no avail.

I would like Syncoptions and Volumelock but a mirror of the repo would
be good also

Thanks

Hi Bert,

I do this on Centos7 Linux but I reverse proxy to https :-

  ProxyPass / http://localhost:9000/
  ProxyPassReverse / !

  AuthName "Logitech Media Server"

process require a wan address and DNS it is a fully accepted cert and
free !!

The WAN and DNS are only really required when you aquire or renew so
youcan open a firewall port while you renew and then close.

I personally have my lms open (HTTPS) but other servers ie my internal
server I keep an external dns entry with my ISP and add a virtual https
server to my apache only while I renew the cert then I can use the cert
for Webmin, ESXi, UTM 9 etc.

I have not had any trouble with any URLs so far, all seem to work well
and as you can see you can add auth.

If the IP address of the server has changed since last time you used the

I use Centos7 on my ESXi 6.5 works great, I have VERY few of the issues
I see reported on the forum (Though I expect thats also true of other
users that use the more "tried and tested" linux distros) I belive there
is a an OVF template for Centos7 but I never use it, I just install from
ISO.

Even my "Full Server" (Mail, SaMBa, DNS, DHCP etc) does not use much
(CPU and RAM) resources at all.

A cheap USB "powerbank" will keep the Pi running for a little while and
there are several UPS Hats around (Don't think they have gracefull
shutdown though)

I believe the advice is to NOT have the cache on the SDcard the cache is
R/W so it is possible that the card was being written to at the time of
the power outage
Others may correct me on this but I think that is correct !
Maybe put the cache on a USB flash drive ?
On one of my systems I have music and cache on a USB HDD and have never
had a problem

You can backup settings to USB Flash and a clean install of Pcp will use
these on boot.
