Hey,

the HDA Analyzer www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/HDA_Analyzer

worked for my Acer Aspire 5830 TG.

I just clicked on codec-0 in the top-left and activated every checkbox under
enable.
The sound came immediately. I was near to give up on this!

access the internal speakers with an external card? Thanks for your

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-10-27 Thread Zenigata
Exactly the same problem as Mark Baas on an Acer 3830T.

Actually before update to kernel 3.0.13, I had sound by compiling the
latest alsa-driver snapshots. After 3.0.13, I had no sound at all even
with compilation of the snapshot.

I never use suspend, so I did'nt bump into this fix. But when I saw
that comment I tried and this worked.

So I guess something went wrong somewhere. Probably the suspend trick
worked with 3.0.12, but there installation of alsa-driver compiled with
--enable-dynamic-minors --without-oss worked better as a fix (no need to
suspend).

I also tried unloading and reloading the dirver without suspend and this
does'nt work...

I think the fix-released status is confusing since the fix does not work
!

I'm having the same prob as the 105th commenter.

The brightness fix from msaur also worked for me, it doesn't show any

Not only that but it also can't be controlled through power saver
settings so you have to manually set it when you're on AC power and
manually set it when you're not.

The issue appears to have been fixed with the new kernel update. mic
appear to be working ok

So here is the scoop. I have a Acer 4830t was having no sound issue.
So I followed Markus's (#86) advise (thanks btw). I got the speaker to
work but had some issue with crackling/cracking sound while using
internal mic.

I recently upgraded from kernel 2.6.38-8 to 2.6.38-11. I decided to
check if the alsa modules had any patches applied -- so I uninstalled
alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb ran depmod rebooted. Viola --
speaker, headphone jack work.

Further the internal mic seems to work without crackling/cracking sound

(FYI my
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf has
#options snd-hda-intel model=acer
options snd-hda-intel model=targa-2ch-dig -- not sure if its needed)

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-08-31 Thread tux_rox
Hi all,

I have an AO722 with the C-50 chip, running Peppermint OS and
2.6.38-8-generic kernel, and I have no sound from speakers or
headphones.

When I tried installing both the .deb package from post #87 and the ALSA
maneuvering from post #91, instead of enabling sound, ALSA stopped
recognizing any soundcards. GNOME ALSA mixer is completely blank, and
when I click on Edit Soundcard Properties, the mixer simply exits.

alsa-info is attached. Of particular note is Soundcards recognized by
ALSA: no soundcards.

Thanks for any ideas as to how to fix this!

2011-08-31 Thread susu
I also have 3830TG, but it is running Arch Linux, not Ubuntu. Since it
is not an Ubuntu specific bug, I thougth i post my ugly script I have
cut and pasted from HDA_Analyzer scripts. I have 3.0 kernel, so be
careful on different kernels.

I added that script to my boot process (rc), but I would not complain it
here, since AFAIK Ubuntu uses different rc system. (tested only with
root)

With this kernel when I plug in my headphones into jack, the internal
speakers muted, and when I pull off, speakers turn on again.

My uname -a just for sure:
Linux archie 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 17 21:55:57 CEST 2011 x86_64
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Michael Saur (msaur): thanks for your off-topic answer about
brightness issue, it helped me a lot :)

I have attached the script.

2011-08-30 Thread Marius Kjeldahl
Update on my problems; on further inspection the driver is probably not
the reason why the speakers do not work. I rebooted into Windows, and I
had the same problem there. Further inspection indicates a small crack
in the ring on the minijack connector, and a wild guess is that one of
my kids have had an incident with my laptop which has caused some damage
either to the minijack detector or some hardware issue where the
speakers no longer work. My apologies for the misleading bug report.

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-08-25 Thread Marius Kjeldahl
The latest incarnation of this bug actually give audio, but only on the
headphone jack, so it seems it no longer senses whether that gets
activated or not. I've also tested forcing the channel in the mixer, but
still no audio without headphones. But at least it works with
headphones. Still annoying though, as it worked just fine before the
last upgrade. In case I did not make it clear, I'm also all oneiric
now on this laptop, although another set of updates today seriously
broke unity, so that laptop isn't doing me a lot of good these days..

@Leann, ok, done.

@everybody else: As for the mic quality stuff: recommend that to be
tracked in a separate bug so we don't lose track of that problem when
this bug is becoming fix released. I don't have a good idea on how to
solve it currently, but it might be worth checking both left and right
mic channels independently to see if they e g cancel each other out.

I'm using an Acer Aspire 722 netbook, the same 506c conexant chipset and

headphones. I'm sorry, but this file:

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-07-25 Thread Notgiven
I'm sure this will all be sorted out sooner or later. In the meantime,
I'm putting this here for the benefit of other users with the same
problem. Note: I'm using Lucid, and I tried this with the 2.6.32-21 and
2.6.32-33 kernals.

As per instructions found here:
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic/4293/solved-alsa-no-sound-from-
internal-speaker/

If you have an Acer Aspire One 722 netbook or any model using the
Conexant ID 506c chip, and your headphones don't work (and the .deb
submitted doesn't work for you), do this:

1. Get the latest Alsa driver snapshot from here:
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/tiwai/snapshot/
2. Extract the zip file
3. Open a terminal
4. Navigate to the extracted folder
5. Type: ./configure --enable-dynamic-minors

6. Type: make

7. Type: sudo make install-modules
8. Reboot

Your headphones will now work properly and the solution survives a reboot.
Thanks to everyone who worked to solve this bug.

2011-07-21 Thread zzarko
I just wanted to confirm that the solution from

http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-dkms-
acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb

also worked for Acer Aspire One 722 netbook (AMD C-50), as they have the
same codec ID for audio card (that's how I found this bug report).

The jack-sense for headphones is now working, internal microphone also
working (I only need to mute/unmute it before use; if I don't do that,
it seems inactive). External microphone (still) doesn't work.

THANKS!

@physe I have done it so that the left part of the mic is fully muted
and the right is at 30%. This gave kind of optimal sound, but quality is
still not so good. I have attached a picture with my settings (Sorry,
it's in hungarian :) ).

@Marius I have had the same problem with the update manager, just lock
the version in Synaptic. You can do this with CTRL-E I think. It will
always remain in this version and the update manager won't update it
either.

FWIW, on my oneiric 3.0rc6 kernel, there's still no sound without
running the hda-verb command (or the hda_analyzer equivalent I guess).

I've added David's ppa repo, so I see the package gets updated

latest fixes, whatever that is...

Thanks,

2011-07-08 Thread CyJambo
Hi All,

http://www.alsa-project.org is dead, I can't reach it for the past two
days. Since the last package didn't fix it for me I would like to try
the solution suggested in post 33:

-
The loud speakers of my 5830TG are working thanks to the HDAAnalyzer tool :
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/HDA_Analyzer
Once the tool is installed, the option EAPD in Node[0x1b] must be enabled.

You will find more information (diff for the working internal
speakers/headphones) in this Alsa bug tracker message :
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=5366 .
-

Does anyone have an idea where to get the HDAAnalyzer tool from other
than the link above?

Thanks a lot!

Hi David,

I have tested this again, using kernel 2.6.38-8-generic and I can
confirm that my sound is now working with the .deb file in post #76.

Only the mic is not working, it makes a crackling sound, I can hear my

there something I need to do to get it working?

Thanks a lot for this patch. Can you notify us when it's available for

David Henningsson, that package worked for me. I have sound and it turns
off internal speakers when I plug the cable.

The mic is still noisy though. Any clue on that?

Well after a shutdown, and restart, i was surprised to find that the
internal speakers stopped working again. For now, i'm using the hda-verb
workaround by having it start up at boot in /etc/rc.local...so cheers
for little workaround/fix.

   1) is EAPD on node 0x1b required for both headphones and speakers to
work?

Yes.

   2) what about the EAPD at node 0x1d? Does it affect headphones and/or
 speakers?

Yes, the same way 0x1b does!

I am not having the speakers-headphones switch problem, it works fine for me...
Marius, did you install David's .deb at post #64?

I experienced problems with the newer version of the .deb (i.e.
HDA_Analizer not working properly, every change was reverted, and
headphones not working without manual EAPD setting on HDA_Analizer), so
i reverted to the old .deb file, which I attach here in case it was
removed from the server... With that I could again use HDA_Analizer to
switch EAPD on/off, and also the command line David suggested worked
properly again.

Keep on the great work, I am here to test and help getting these
notebooks to work properly :)

Yes, I believe I removed the previous version and installed the latest
one offered here. But as I said, due to me running the latest oneiric
linux 3.0 rc5 kernel, I may not be the best test person currently. Until
I get back from vacation, I'm not going to experiment to much either, as
I depend on the machine working until I get back. The reason for moving
to the oneiric kernel was to get stable wifi.

FWIW, I also disabled the hda_analyzer autoupgrade (download and run),
and just run the latest version I had before going on vacation, so if
there are any important changes to that piece of software that I need to
test, please let me know and I will refresh my version.

Thanks,

Sup folks. Proud owner of an acer timelinex 5830tg notebook. Thanks to
this posting, i was finally able to get my laptop speakers to work. My
laptop now feels somewhat more complete. The only issue I'm now
experiencing is my laptop speakers not switching off when plugging in
earphones into the audio jack. Appears to be a common issue among some
people here. Hope to see a more permanent solution to this issue.

Running kernel 3.0.0-rc5 on debian wheezy.. Thanks again.

Yes. No sound anywhere without it. Pressing it gives sound on BOTH
headphones and speakers though, which is incompatible with movie viewing
in bed when spouse is trying to sleep... :-)

 2) what about the EAPD at node 0x1d? Does it affect headphones and/or
speakers?

Seems to work the same as the one on 0x1b, although I did not test after
a reboot (meaning I activated and deactivated on 0x1b first).

To make audio spouse friendly (i.e. headphones only), it's possible to
use the Audio Output nodes on 0x1f. The value 0x10 seems to activate
both speakers and headphones, while 0x11 activates headphones only.

Thank you for keep trying to find a proper solution (and not just
workarounds).

2011-07-01 Thread David Henningsson
Hello! I have now talked to upstream about this issue, and my patches
have been applied. He also sent a third patch to enable EAPD on playback
and disable it afterwards (for best power efficiency). If you can test
his patch and confirm that it works, he will apply it to the 3.0 kernel
and so it will be fixed in Oneiric. Can you please do that?

Test instructions:
1) Make sure no other workarounds (such as the manual hda-verb, dkms och
alsa-drivers)
2) Download and install
http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb -
this is a new version of the package, updated today.
3) Reboot and test.

Thanks!
I'm also attaching upstream's patch for reference.

I think I'm no longer the best test subject, as I speedily had to
upgrade to a oneiric kernel (ubuntu rc4) to have stable wifi before
leaving for vacation (I'm literally testing this while lying beside the
pool).

But on that kernel, I tested anyway, and it does not seem to make a
difference. I still have to resort to manually setting the EAPD pin with
the hda_analyzer tool before I get any sound.

Thanks,

The new alsa-hda-dkms works for me, as it is no longer necessary to turn
on EAPD @ 0x1b at every reboot.

Both speakers and internal mic work; mic's quality is still bad, but it
is usable. I wonder if this is a hardware problem (it shouldn't be).

The bad news is that headphones do not work anymore: plugging them in, the
speakers will be muted, but i will get no sound from the headphones either.
I could not try any external mic so far.

Thanks for the work, a patch already included in the new kernels would
be lovely!

@physe: It means I'm currently too tired to figure out the actual
command :-D

I believe the following command turns EAPD on:

hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x1b SET_EAPD_BTLENABLE 2

You can use this command from the command line (with sudo) to turn it
on, and you can add that command to the file /etc/rc.local to have it
run at bootup.

Hda-verb is available in the snd-hda-tools package in my ppa.

On my Acer Aspire 3830TG with Ubuntu 10.10 I have installed alsa, then
snd-hda-tools_0.20100606-0~ppa3_amd64.deb and run hda_analizer, check EAPD on
pin 0x1b.
But after restart I need to check it again.
I think this is better than without sound :)
If I plug in external sound I have internal and external speakers working
together.
To switch off internal speaker I need to uncheck OUT on pin 0x1f.
This is not a problem :) The problem is that both internal and external mics
don't work.
I need any mic only for Skype application, but my manipulations has no effect.
Can You help me?

asking for advice on how to proceed on enabling EAPD by default (see

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-25 Thread physe
Thanks for explanation David.

I used the HDA_Analizer workout, but it is not completely satisfying: at
first, sound comes out from the speakers, but after a couple of reboots
it won't anymore, randomly. Plus, i have had a weird experience:

I selected, on the audio settings panel, the hdmi output + analog
input hardware set. The input tab recognized a mic, so i tried to
record some sound, but could not hear the result, because the speakers
were not working (no channels were muted in alsamixer!). Changing the
hardware set to analog output, i had no mic working, but i could check
my record and it had actually recorded my voice. There was no external
mic plugged, and i had just used the HDA_Analizer tool.

I felt so near to the solution, the problem would then be just
enabling HDMI audio output...

Too bad I can't rerun this test: i did it yesterday, and today the audio
settings tab won't detect any mic in any hardware set, I can't
understand why. Shame. Anyway, I will keep trying.

I really hope someone of you can find a working solution soon... I am
here ready to test anything you need to test, but sadly I'm not so good
to find a solution on my own.

Thanks in advance!

HDMI audio is a separate bug.

So, I would like to check that the only thing that's wrong is actually
the EAPD pin. So, if you're happy to keep testing, could you please
verify this:

1) In hda-jack-sense-test, also check that the headphone is at node 0x19

2) That if my patch/package is installed and the EAPD pin is activated,
that auto-mute (between headphone and internal speaker) is working, and
also that autoswitch (between internal and external mic) is working.

3) In hda-analyzer, unclicking the OUT checkbox on node 0x1f will
cause the internal speaker to stop working.

Thanks!

I installed the Alsa Driver Modules from ubuntu-audio-dev-ppa-natty, as
explained here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules
Then installed and ran the hda_analyzer in snd-hda-tools from
ppa:diwic/ppa. Clicked on EAPD for 0x1b and voila! Audio works! :-)

David, I tried your three items and here are my results:
1) Confirmed. HP on 0x19.
2) Confirmed working! :-)
3) Confirmed. Internal speakers are silent when OUT is deselected on 0x1f.

Thanks for all the great work!

David, I confirm 1) and 2a) (i have no external mic in my hands atm). I
have still not tried 3).

The audio now works, both mic and speakers/headphones. After trying
skype the quality fall down, far from being usable.

I second the question above this post. Too bad i can't read Russian :)

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-25 Thread physe
After rebooting no sound at all again.

EAPD on pin 0x1b resets when the pc is turned off, so i set it again
with HDA_Analizer. But it did not fix the sound even after restarting
the session. As I said above, on my system it apparently works
randomly...

Is there any way to force EAPD on that pin, instead of rerunning the
script every time?

2011-06-23 Thread physe
Hello, i filed a question too about this bug, you can find it at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-
driver/+question/162200

My system is a 3830TG with Ubuntu 10.04 kernel 2.6.39-0-generic. Below i
attached the output of alsa-info.sh.

If there is anybody with my same system, may he/she please tell me which
of the proposed solution worked on his notebook? I ask this because i'm
pretty keen on messing up laptops :-)

Also, will there be a definitive patch in one of the next kernels for
this issue and the other mentioned in the comments above?

@David: I will test the pins and report to you as soon as possible.
Thanks!

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-23 Thread physe
So, i tested the pins.
Output without anything plugged in:

Pin 0x19 (Black HP Out): present = No
Pin 0x1a (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1b (Black Mic): present = No
Pin 0x1c (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1d (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1e (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1f (Internal Speaker): present = No
Pin 0x20 (Black SPDIF Out): present = No
Pin 0x22 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x23 (Internal Mic): present = No

Then i plugged in an external mic:

Pin 0x19 (Black HP Out): present = No
Pin 0x1a (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1b (Black Mic): present = Yes
Pin 0x1c (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1d (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1e (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x1f (Internal Speaker): present = No
Pin 0x20 (Black SPDIF Out): present = No
Pin 0x22 (Not connected): present = No
Pin 0x23 (Internal Mic): present = No

(Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG)

I guess 0x1b is the pin for the external mic, but what does that Black Mic
tag stand for?
And why does my INTERNAL mic NOT get recognized? This is truly a pain.

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-23 Thread David Henningsson
@physe, Okay, thanks for testing! This means they have borrowed the EAPD
pin from node 0x1b to use for the internal speaker. This is annoying, as
there is currently no quirk system for this yet.

what does that Black Mic tag stand for?

BIOS tells us that there is a Mic Jack on this pin, and the physical
jack is colored black.

And why does my INTERNAL mic NOT get recognized?

Are you talking about the output from hda-jack-sense-test? Maybe the
text is a little misleading. It sends a command that asks is there
anything present in the jack on pin .. for every pin, and the answer
for internal mic is no, because there is no jack at all. So that's
correct.

2011-06-22 Thread Marius Kjeldahl
@David, I tested both without and with headphones plugged in and got no
sounds in either. There were activity on the microphone input, but I
wasn't able to demonstrate to myself that the activity was due to input
from the mic (I made some sounds which didn't seem to register in any
special way), or just static from some internal amplifiers (or whatever,
not my knowledge domain).

I'll post the alsa-info this evening (when I get home from work).

Thank you for looking into this.

Hi,

The loud speakers of my 5830TG are working thanks to the HDAAnalyzer tool :
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/HDA_Analyzer
Once the tool is installed, the option EAPD in Node[0x1b] must be enabled.

You will find more information (diff for the working internal
speakers/headphones) in this Alsa bug tracker message :
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=5366 .

I can confirm that the brightness fix works, and that audio also works
with the HDA_Analyzer thing mentioned here. I lose sound after waking up
from suspend, but that's a minor nuisance which should be easy to
fix/work around. It would be great if the people with the skills could
submit these fixes in a format to make them permanent and automatic.
Only thing remaining for me now is the flaky wireless lan, but except
from that this is starting look look like a great linux latop. Thanks.

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-22 Thread siddian
Hi

I have the feeling posting here in addition to the alsa-bugtrack-site can help
improving the situation.
I have the setup mentioned here:
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=5366.
short:
Acer Aspire 4830T with ubuntu 11.04 kernel 2.6.39-0 and alsa version 1.0.24

I have the feeling the solution/workaround is very close :-)

@voyance_en_direct:
I tried modifying all the settings mentioned in
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=5366.
But no improvement at all, no sound using the Jack or the internal speakers.
When setting the EAPD option you mention all I get is a beep that wont stop
until I remove this option again.
I can, however, change the volume of this beep :-)
I can also hear this beep using the jack, the internal speakers won't switch
off though.

@diego.nunez:
Do you also have the 5830TG? Seems to me the hardware in the 5830TG is a bit
different.

cheers

Hi everyone,

I can confirm that HDA_Analyzer works for my 3830 as well. Do you guys
have simultaneous sound on speakers and headphones when the latter are
plugged in? My internal mic continues not working, too. But hey, it's a
GREAT step forward. Awesome!

Cheers,

Michael

I tried installing alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb, even though I don't
own a 3830TG.
After a reboot a beep came out of my speakers that did not stop until I removed
the EAPD flags as metioned above. Quite anoying.

2011-06-22 Thread Marius Kjeldahl
FWIW, my 3830T works fine with the patch and setting EAPD as described
in #38. Also switches automatically between speakers and minijack when I
plug in headphones. I have only tested mic by blowing air and whistling
toward where the camera is and elsewere, and do not have a mic to plug
in, but based on my blowing and whistling it does not seem to pick up
any sound. I've tried switching between analog microphone and internal
microphone in the mixer, and with analog microphone (and me not pluggin
in a mic) and then it goes complete silent (indicator stops moving).
With analog microphone active, it jumps around, but I do not seem to be
able to affect it much by blowing and whisteling.

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-22 Thread siddian
OK strange:

I recompiled alsa, using the script provided here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1681577
rebooted and changed the EAPD flag of node [0x1b] and TADA sound works.
This is really strange to me, I can not explain why it works now.

One thing left though: sound is coming over the internal speakers AND
the jack at the same time, it does not switch off internal speakers when
jack is used.

I'll try some things and let you know if things get better.

I have an 3830TG and also I switch headphones - speakers without any
problem so far. The internal microphone captures with too much noise,
while an analog mic captures with a more acceptable quality but still
noisy. Thanks for the contributions to every one. Hopefully the mic
can be fixed in order to use skype properly.

And hoping I can be forgiven for trashing this thread with other fixes
related to the new Acer Aspire models, making sure you have a file
/etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf containing options ath9k nohwcrypt=1 does
magic for the wifi performance as well. All these three Kinder-egg of
fixes (three fixes in one thread; audio, brightness and wifi) two days
before I had to bring my laptop on vacation! Looks like there will be
code written this vacation after all. Thanks to everybody.

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-22 Thread David Henningsson
Great that most people seem to have solved the problem by enabling EAPD
on node 0x1b. However, in the only codec report I've got so far, node
0x1b doesn't say it's the internal speaker, but external mic (and this
is why my previous patch attempt did not work, btw). Before I try to
make a patch and send it upstream, I need more confirmation whether node
0x1b is actually the external mic pin or not.

I've made a small utility to test what pins actually corresponds to jacks, so
could someone please try the following:
0) ensure it has been 6 hours since this post was written as packages are
currently waiting to be built :-(
1) download and install snd-hda-tools from ppa:diwic/ppa
2) run sudo hda-jack-sense-test -a both with mic plugged into the mic jack,
then without something plugged in. By reading the output of this tool you
should be able to figure out which pins are truly the mic and headphone pins.

Thanks!

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-21 Thread Marius Kjeldahl
Confrimed here as well, Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830T running Ubuntu
11.04. Also brightness/backlight control widget works (slider slides up
and down), but does not affect actual brightness/backlight, but that's
certainly another bug report..

[Bug 783582] Re: [Aspire 3830TG, Conexant ID 506c, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2011-06-21 Thread David Henningsson
Howdy!

Could you help me test a possible solution by doing this:
1) make sure you don't have any alsa drivers installed, i e if you run modinfo
snd-hda-codec the Filename line should not say anything with updates in
it.
2) Download and install
http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-hda-dkms-acer3830tg_0.1_all.deb
3) Reboot and test. Test all inputs and outputs and report back whether the
issue is now fixed or not.
