Yep, this is relatively easy to do:

Just go to your blog post page and edit in object mode (see
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/PageEditing#HAdvancedMode ).
Then modify the date field for the blog object.

Hi Patrick,

It’s nice to see your interest in XWiki :)

While the xwiki.org project would be very happy to host you on myxwiki.org,
I’ve also discussed with the XWiki SAS company (http://xwiki.com) which offers
professional hosting and they’d be happy to offer a free hosting should you be
interested (in recognition of your important in the open source world ;)).

It might be better for you since myxwiki.org is a testing platform as mentioned
on http://myxwiki.org with no uptime warranty.

Let me know which one your prefer.

The wiki will be used (edited) by internal OSI staff, the Board of

The reason of this request to farm admins is that I have already tried to made

Leave everything else empty, but for footer add GA code somewhere at the
end of original one (from XWiki 5.2):

#if($isInServletMode)## Visible only in a page
 div id=footerglobal class=layoutsection
 div class=minwidth/div
 hr/
 div id=xwikilicence$!copyright/div
 #set ($version = $xwiki.getSpacePreference('version'))
 #if ($!version == )
 #set ($version = $xwiki.getXWikiPreference(version))

 #set ($version = $!xwiki.version)

 div id=xwikiplatformversion$version/div

 /div

 ## Put GA JavaScript here ##

 ### TODO: Format the footer for pdf output

Or, harder (not sure, what will happen after myxwiki.org update then)
but more appropriate way would be adding htmlfooter property to
XWiki.XWikiSkins class, and similarly changing original code:

 /div## xwikimaincontainerinner
 /div## xwikimaincontainer

 ## put GA code here ##

 #if($isInServletMode)

 #else ## Portlet Mode

Thanks, I’ve edited it to beautify it a bit ;)

However, I am not sure the instructions provide the detail needed to
walk me through the process...

/First, go to the presentation section of the administration page.

1. Logged in as an administrator, I go to the WIKI: xwiki menu and
down to Administer Wiki.
so far so good...

2. I then go to Presentation under the Look and Feel tab on the
left hand navigation
(http://[mywikidomain].xwiki.com/xwiki/bin/admin/XWiki/XWikiPreferences?editor=globaladminsection=Presentation)
You should go to the “Page Elements” section (in the past this was under the
Presentation section but it’s been moved to “Page Elements”, which is located
just under the “Presentation” section).

Hope it helps,

/Add the following lines in the HTTP Meta Information :/

/link rel=icon href=$xwiki.getSkinFile(favicon.ico)//
//type=image/x-icon/ link rel=shortcut icon//
//href=$xwiki.getSkinFile(favicon.ico) type=image/x-icon//

1. I cannot find the HTTP Meta Information on the presentation section
of the administration page.
2. The only fields available are:
1. Skin Customize = XWiki.DefaultSkin
2. Stylesheet = style.css
3. Stylesheets = style.css

/Then, visit the XWiki.DefaultSkin page and attach a favicon.ico file./

1. I have been able to upload my favicon to the XWiki.DefaultSkin page

by going to ADD in the menu bar and clicking Attachment to page.
The icon is viewable at

/Finally, the most important, refresh your browser cache. /

I found the following code at stackoverflow:

(function (factory) {
if (typeof define === 'function'  define.amd) {
// AMD. Register as an anonymous module.
define(['jquery'], factory);
} else {
// Browser globals
factory(jQuery);
}
}(function ($) {

$.fn.jqueryPlugin = function () {
// Put your plugin code here
};

}));

Is it enough to create a js-File like that and register it in the
javascript.vm under 'paths:', or do i have to change more things in that
file or somewhere else? (produced errors so far...)
I found something about jquery in the require.js in the js-folder.

ATM no.

The RSS feed is generated by the Main.WebRss page and this page uses some XWQL

The solution would be to rewrite this page to use the activity stream API to

The goal of XWiki is to hide access to database through the use of
XClass/XObjects. So no, there’s no Livetable with direct SQL access, only
through XClass/Xobjects.

Now the Livetable is very customizable and you generate your own JSON, see

 Hello,

I really like the idea behind the ToDo Macro, as it is the easiest way to
get todos strait into wiki pages and review them with the ToDo List.

Unfortunately it seems there is a bug which make it nearly useless. As soon
as you added more ToDos to one page and you added this pages with the
WYSIWYG editor it could be that all content after and including the todos
 itself are erased while saving
If you switch before between the Wiki editor and WYSIWYG editor you see in
the wiki editor that it is already missing. In the WYSIWYG editor all
content is shown normally but not saved.

That means. I create a page - add some todos - someone else edid this page
and put some additional content over the WYSIWYG editor to the page and
save it - all content behind the todo can get lost.

I tried it with different pages and also with different content. I just can
say that it is not related to the content before or after the todo.

 Does someone see that before?

This release comes with a new syntax guide and brings improvements to

wiki templates from the wiki creation wizard. The Wiki Stream can be
used to import large XARs and content from the Confluence wiki. The

Do you always get this problem, even after trying to start XWiki several times?

I got a similar problem once but it happened to me only once out of hundreds of
xwiki starts.

Can you 'ls WEB-INF/lib/*oldcore*.*’?

 Yes and no.
 Yes:
 * XWIKI-9065 XWiki.DeletedAttachments shows nothing when filesystem
attachments are enabled - this makes recycle bin useless for attachments now
 and causes undesired side-effects.
 * XWIKI-9710 While filesytem is on, attachments are deleted, but folders in
storage are not - not a big problem, but still
 No.
 I mean also:
 - import-export as you already mentioned
 - synchronizing multiple wikis in cluster. DB clustering won't work here, so
we need a mechanism of syncing attachments in FS. This task is not simple as
I understand, but new Wiki Streaming system could evolve to make it real as
far as I understand. I didn't put it in Jira yet.

Ok thanks.

For this last point, the solution we recommend is to use a distributed
filesystem (NFS or other).

Thanks

Re: [xwiki-users] [xwiki-devs] [ANN] XWiki 5.4 Milestone 1 released (IMPORTANT)

2014-01-09 Thread vinc...@massol.net
Hi everyone,

Please note that we’ve found a blocker in this release. This is what I’ve just
added to the release notes:

“
A few hours after the release was done we've realized that this version
contains a bugs that makes it not usable as is: it's missing 2 important pages:
##XWiki.XWikiAdminGroup## and ##XWiki.XWikiAllGroup##. If you plan to use this
version make sure you import those 2 pages from this [[XWiki 5.3
XARhttp://maven.xwiki.org/releases/org/xwiki/platform/xwiki-platform-administration-ui/5.3/xwiki-platform-administration-ui-5.3.xar]]
for example. Otherwise please wait for a new 5.4 release.
“

Everything should be fine if you add these 2 pages and we would still need
users to test this release as much as possible so that we can fix any other
issue in 5.4RC1.

Thanks and sorry for the issue

Hi Patrick,

I see you’ve restored your content that I had moved to the Index Application’s
documentation on:
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/How+do+I+restore+a+deleted+page+or+attachment

Do you really believe it’s better to have to maintain 2 places?

My POV was that it’s always easier to maintain a single place and have the FAQ
entry point to the right documentation.

If you think the documentation isn’t good enough at

believe it might be better to edit that page and improve it, WDYT?

(mas...@opensource.org(mailto://mas...@opensource.org)) wrote:

Vincent, I added a comment on the page with my thoughts (not sure of how the

My rationale is in the comment:

I got your email and saw your edits, I am just thinking answering the
question directly and pointing to the documentation would have been most
helpful to me when I was looking.

Interesting before I sent the note to the user's list, I searched for
xwiki restore deleted document, xwiki recycle bin xwiki trash etc.
and did not find the Index Application page. In addition, I also searched
xwiki.org for restore deleted page and did not find anything.

I think the challenge for me as a newbie is that I do not know the
nomenclature of xwiki yet. I do not know how I (or other newbies) would
have known to look for the Index Application?

What do you think? Hope my merging of our efforts is OK?

However your point about maintaining two sets of documentation would be a
pain and not a good idea.

Not sure I understood your point! :) Could you explain why it’s not a good idea
to try to have to maintain documentation content in a single place? I
understand that we need several ways to reach a documentation place and I agree
with having a FAQ entry for this precise example for that reason. However, I
really think we need to try to have all documentation about a given feature in
a single location as much as possible.

Maybe I am just addressing the wrong problem. My issue was that I could not
find the existing documentation. I restored your version and just added on
 how to restore deleted pages/attachments.”

I’ve also edited a bit the documentation page at
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Index+Application

It’s now linked from 2 places I know of:
-
http://main.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/How+do+I+restore+a+deleted+page+or+attachment
- http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/DocumentLifecycle#HRestore
(which is the first entry I get in google when I search for “xwiki restore
deleted attachment”)

Hope it’s now easier to get that information from the onset! :)

Thanks for your help!

Not at all. Documentation is very important for a project and the fact that you

Also, if you have suggestion to improve documentation navigation please let us

There’s FOSDEM coming in Brussels on the 1st and 2nd of February where there’ll
probably be around 8 xwiki developers there. See also the wiki track there:

Now most of the events the xwiki devs participate to are held in Europe since
most of us are based in Europe… Sorry :)

Also any XWiki users in New York / New England area of the U.S.?

It would be great if some XWiki users around the world could organize some
events!

Some time back there was a frapp.com map of xwiki users around the world
(http://web.archive.org/web/20070630195208/http://www.frappr.com/xwikiusers)
but they stopped their service and we lost this feature.

It could be interesting to find a new way so that xwiki users could locate
themselves on a map. This could then be the basis for organizing meetups where
there are clusters of xwiki users.

WDYT? Any idea?

Thomas and I discussed this quickly and in our opinions we should instead
create a small xwiki application to do that:

* Add the ability to enter one’s location on his profile page on xwiki.org
* Automatically put all filled user’s location in a map on a xwiki page (we can
also use our user directory application to display user’s location in the
livetable so that it can filtered by town/country for example).

That shouldn’t be hard to do.

Hi Richard,

Indeed, the { character needs to be escaped. check section 2.4.3 of the spec at
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2396.txt, specifically:

Other characters are excluded because gateways and other transport
agents are known to sometimes modify such characters, or they are

2014-02-03 Thread vinc...@massol.net
Hi,

Currently the include macro doesn’t support loading a page in a language other
than the current language used to display the current page.

If you’re in a “de” page and that page uses the include macro, the included
content will be in “de” too.

Do I understand correctly that you’d like something like this:
* you’re on a “de” page A using the include macro to include page B
* you’d like that the content of page B that is included is for example in “en”
(but no in “de” which is the language page A is displayed in

?

Hi Matthias,

Right now you cannot achieve what you want with the {{include}} macro.

The solution right now is to script this:

{{velocity}}
$xwiki.getDocument('Included').getTranslatedContent('fr')
{{/velocity}}

In this example I’m getting the content of the Included page in language ‘fr’
and I’m displaying it in the current page.

Please open a jira issue if you’d like to have this behavior in the {{include}}
macro.

The key is to google for “xwiki XWQL” and you should get:
  http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Query+Module

Could someone give me a hint to existing XWQL description, please? I am
interested since XWQL seems to be more compact than HQL.

Indeed, that’s the main reason we developed XWQL :)

  Hope it helps

Re: [xwiki-users] Using the Include macro across more than one Xwiki instance

2014-02-14 Thread vinc...@massol.net
Hi,

I gather the term you’re looking for is called Transclusion (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transclusion).

If it’s on the same wiki farm then ti’s achieved with the include macro as
mentioned already.

If on another wiki, this can be achieved using either the REST API to call
XWiki or simply by using a URL.

For example if you wish to get the HTML for the Playground’s Sandbox.WebHome
page from the outside you’d call:

http://playground.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/get/Sandbox/WebHome?outputSyntax=xhtml

For more details, see
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/URL+resolution

This is the right place! :)

We’re using a single list for all discussions. I was just pointing it out that
Livetable 2.0 was a user contribution. Ludovic, who wrote it, is subscribed to
this list so he might see your message.

But I would like to suggest you to continue the development of livetable
2.0 or something like it. Today I'm trying to convince some people at my
work to use Xwiki and just a simple programming language like velocity can
 be a big barrier.
Livetable is great tool and that is one of the reasons that people like me
are using Xwiki. The possibility to create a dynamic table with object is
just awesome, but, sadly, the application is too dificult for the non-geek
 user.

Yes I agree with you. That’s why I started the design of version 2 of the
Livetable at http://design.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/LiveTable20Macro

I need to finalize the design and propose it to the list for agreement and then
it needs to be implemented :)

Let me see if I got it...
 - The best place to put my suggestions about livetable 2.0 would be on
 http://design.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Design/LiveTable20Macro

Yes that’s a good place indeed.

Now for discussions the best place remains this mailing list.

 - While the right place to get help for this application would be on
 http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Livetable+Macro+2.0
Im a lit bit confused with Jira and Mailing list.

- JIRA is for creating tickets to work on, be them bug reports or improvement
ideas. You’d use that when you want something specific implemented. What’s nice
with JIRA tickets is that they’re never forgotten and at some point xwiki
committers will need to handle them in some way.

- The mailing list is the place for asking questions and discussing ideas.
There could be a long discussion and then some decision/agreement might emerge
and some JIRA tickets created to ensure the result of the discussion is tasked
for work.

Thanks

Yes, it is possible. The live table has a parameter named 'resultPage', see
 http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Livetable+Macro#HParameter24options.
This page generates the JSON with the live table rows. Using the
browser's dev tools you can check the requests made by an existing live
 table and the produced JSON.

Im asking it, because sometimes I just want to order a big static table. I
dont want to create a class and set properties just to make a simple
 filter

You will have to implement pagination, sorting and filtering in the result
page if you want them. Unfortunately I don't have an example of a results
page that is not based on objects/classes at hand. I'll try to find one.

I documented this here:
http://extensions.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Extension/Livetable+Macro#HCustomJSON

I also used it for the Link Checker extension:

Re: [xwiki-users] How to get permanent link of a page

2014-02-24 Thread vinc...@massol.net
Hi,

Each page is internally stored in the database with an id.

However that id is a computed id. It’s computed from:
- the doc’s wiki
- the doc’s space
- the doc’s page
- the doc’s language

So if you rename a document for example, the computed id will be different.

The goal with this was to have friendly URLs, i.e be able to load a doc from
the database given it’s name.

What we’d like to do in the future is to support redirecting to renamed
documents automatically, see:
http://jira.xwiki.org/browse/XWIKI-3622

Will it be included on version 6.0? I hope so.

In 6.0 I highly doubt it since I don’t know anyone working on this. Unless you
provide a nice Pull Request for this! :)

For 6.x, maybe we’ll be able to implement the “follow rename” feature. However,
changing the DB structure has not been discussed and is not planned so far.

Re: [xwiki-users] periodic XWiki crashes

2014-02-28 Thread vinc...@massol.net
Hi Daniel,

I don’t think the error below is related to the crash.

The SOLR error below is probably happening because you have upgraded your xwiki
instance and haven’t removed/cleared the SOLR index. We mentioned this in the
release notes since we changed the SOLR index format recently.

See
http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/ReleaseNotes/ReleaseNotesXWiki53#HSolrSearchIndex
 for example.

On the crash aspect you should check the memory usage when it crashes (you can
take a heap dump on OOM for example).

When creating a new document in an application, the user needs to enter a
name before actually entering data in whatever fields have been defined.

My question is, could I setup my application in such a way that the name of
the new document would be defined by information in the fields. Basically
skipping the whole Document name input phase.

I've spent a good few hours browsing through this mailing list but could
not find an answer to this particular problem.

It seems what you’re after is how to create a new document programatically.

Hi Jeremie,

I think it’s Anca who coded this container macro so I don’t know the details
but it looks like a bug indeed.

I’d file a jira issue if I were you since it seems like you nailed the problem
:)

Thanks

 Hello,

I have a weird issue with {{container}} macro in xwiki 4.5.2.
If I want to display 3 columns, like this for example:

 {{container layoutStyle=columns}}
 ((( a )))
 ((( b )))
 ((( c )))
 {{/container}}

It shows content over only 2 columns like this:
 a b
 c

 ... instead of expected:
 a b c

After having a look at the source :
 https://github.com/xwiki/xwiki-platform/blob/xwiki-platform-4.5.2/xwiki-platform-core/xwiki-platform-rendering/xwiki-platform-rendering-macros/xwiki-platform-rendering-macro-container/src/main/java/org/xwiki/rendering/internal/macro/container/ColumnsLayoutManager.java

 ... I think I understand the problem.
It seems a limitation of container macro, is that it injects columns.css in
the page with number of columns as parameter. So if you add more than one
{{container}} to the same page, they can't have a different number of
 columns ...
For instance in my case I used the container macro in a Panel, with 2
columns - so I can never add more than 2 columns in other locations. I
removed the columns from the Panel, and now my 3-columns are correctly
 displayed :)

If you agree I could fill a Jira for this (I searched quickly, didn't find
 it already described)

I might have hit a similar problem. I have left a note on
 http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Features/DistributionWizard#Comments
but I am not sure it will be read there:

Using version 5.4.2 from Debian packages. Thanks for this guide, but it is
not clear how to get from step You will be prompted to insert credentials
for the Administrator, which are Admin/admin. to step After the
instalation is complete, you can click on the Continue button to proceed to
the next step. (It would be easier to refer to the sections if they had
numbers...). After logging in with Admin/admin, I had to go back to the
 distribution wizard manually, like so:

 - use the browser back /history button to navigate to the
 ../distribution/... link.
 - click on INSTALL or DETAILS. There will be an error message.
 - Navigate back and forth until the XWiki Enterprise - UI - Main wiki
extension is displayed as installed and the CONTINUE button is shown.

Any other action leaves you stuck in an incompletely installed wiki with no
way of finishing the setup. The recommended solution to re-run the
 distribution wizard (see
 http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/FAQ/Why+does+the+Distribution+Wizard+fail+to+appear+after+an+install)
did not work to get back to the wizard, at least not for me.
I am sure this is a bug. I could reproduce it at least three times.

I also am experiencing a lot of untranslated message keys, and the wiki
extension is not working. Is there a way this can be fixed?

Hi

1) You should check your tomcat install, there are several warnings/errors but
they’re not the root cause of your issue
2) Initially it seems you tried to create a wiki without being logged in, not
sure how this can happen…
3) At the end of the log you tried to create a “forum” subwiki and the error is
very clear:

Caused by: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLSyntaxErrorException: Access
denied for user 'xwiki'@'localhost' to database ‘forum'

As Guillaume Fenollar mentioned in another email this means that you need to
grant the ability to create schema to the xwiki user in mysql, see
http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/InstallationMySQL

Note: It would be nice if this could be done by the debian installer by
default. @Thomas (the creator of this installer), any idea why it’s not done?

Thanks

Our xwiki.org doc is here:

Because I understood Guillaume to say explicitly that I shouldn’t.

Some misunderstanding it seems.. You do need to grant privileges to the xwiki

It would be great if the debian packages get fixed,

I agree, maybe you could create a jira issue for this at http://jira.xwiki.org
so that it’s not forgotten?

I need to be able to
rely on them. BTW, it would be great if a XWiki Appliance existed for
http://www.turnkeylinux.org. If everything works with the debian packages, I
 might do it.

That would be awesome. The challenge, beyond doing the first appliance, is to
maintain it when new XWiki releases come out.

Hi XWiki users,

It would really help if you could add yourself to the xwiki users google map:

There are currently only 40 or so persons added, that doesn’t represent the
xwiki community! The XWiki project has about 30K downloads every month and
there are probably about 10K active instances of XWiki in the world, so come
on, don’t be shy and help the xwiki project feel like a true user community by
adding yourself to this map :) This will allow to organize user meetups in the
future for example so it’s important you add yourself.

come on, don't be shy and help the xwiki project feel like a true user
community by adding yourself to this map :) This will allow to organize
user meetups in the future for example so it's important you add yourself.

Cool, the more the merrier ! (note that you could give a little bit of context,

Come on guys, add yourself, don’t be shy, we added +11 users since yesterday,

 upgrades)?

Note that this not fully true. I expect people to be able to use 6.x versions
well before the end of the cycle (actually starting with 6.0!). So if we drop
support of IE8 in 6.0 then people won’t be able to use it and 6.0 is for April

4 years seem quite old, but in my opinion it's quite sad to see that many
web apps have to drop support for so recent browsers versions, due to
maintenance costs (though completely understandable). We could have
imagined that a responsive js framework could gracefully manage when
browser is not responsive (do you remember, when web sites could imagine

Btw, 4 years is a lot of time. Who has a 4 year computer today?
You lost some old browser users, but you win some android, iPad and

One of the advantages of this skin is that is **responsive**.
  Currently

I am wondering how many of you are using this browser and how

would be upgrade to a newer version of IE (IE10, IE11).

IE8 was released in March 2009 (4 years ago)
 IE9 - March 2011 (2 years ago)
 IE10 - Sept 2012 (17 months ago)
 IE11 - Oct 2013 (4 month ago)

Let me know of any other problems that could prevent us from dropping

is used for static objects, and which is never deallocated, e.g.

It gives PR to your “Admin” user but if your Admin user is *local* to a subwiki

able to modify anything anywhere in the farm.

I agree that an improvement would be to NOT show this column in the admin of
subwikis. You could create a jira issue for that IMO.
