Hello Oliver, First: Please get used to _create a new_ message when starting a new topic, instead of simply answering to an old post. Those of us using MUA capable of threading e-mails get all you stuff as one long thread, albeit subject changed several times. Thank you. If you start tcpserver with '0' as 'host' argument it will listen to _all_ interfaces, therefore all IP addresses. If you want to listen it only on 3 out of 5 IP addresses: start 3 instances, unless you find a hint in the manual how to pass the 3 IPs to tcpserver (which I doubt you'll find). So there still applies the general rule: RTFM (read the _fine_ manuals). Edit vmysql.h _once_, put the whole block that defines the variables into a comment (Put '/*' in a line above the block, '*/' in the line below it), pass the defines (via Makefile) as command line arguments and be happy with "mass compiling". [vchkpw] Mutt (possibly) and Vpopmail?
Hi, I have a small qmail / vpomail installation. I'm having big problems getting sqwebmail to compile (I'm on HP-UX). Sooo... I was wondering can I set up some local users and get them to telnet in and use Mutt (or similar) to access the Maildirs? Trouble is there are (for a start) permission problems as only vpopmail user has access to them, and I would much rather keep it this way. mutt configuration is a bit daunting - I wondered if anybody has got something like this working - or have I just gone crazy? Re: [vchkpw] Mutt (possibly) and Vpopmail?
Hi, Howard. It looks like you're going to need to have your users use a local or remote client that supports POP3. I'd suggest Pine. I believe it will do POP3. Just setup a local POP server, and have your users connect to that inside pine. Howard Miller wrote: Hi, I have a small qmail / vpomail installation. vpopmail is not a daemon, it doesn't listen on ports. Read life with qmail, you don't have to follow it step by step, but at least read it to try and get a better understanding of how qmail works. I would love to do that - but courier-imap won't compile either! I think my machine has an aversion to inter7 software! The telnet thing is just a workaround so we can get our mail, while I'm sorting out the webmail problems. Using pine and POP3 is probably the way to go. I've done that before, but it slipped my mind! RE: [vchkpw] Mutt (possibly) and Vpopmail?
If pop3 works, then just use imp with pop3 support. You'll need to compile php with imap support, but in the imp configs just choose that you have a pop3 server and not imap. We've got an old mail server here that doesn't have imap running on it, and that's what I did ;). [vchkpw] vdelivermail problem?

Hi, > if we use vpopmail with plaintext passwords enabled and some user > changes his password to string which contains ':' symbol - qmailadmin > doesn't list users after that account. Yes, you're right. That's the problem with every single text "database" that uses a colon to separate fields. qmailadmin simply sees that line as a line that doesn't have the right number of fields. (The same problem occurs with vpopmail installations that don't have clear text passwords enabled at all.) Dear Inter7 developers: What about quoting a colon as "\:"? Yes, that would need coordinated changes both in vpopmail and qmailadmin, but the current behaviour is confusing. Jonas

That's not true. Failure messages go to the _sender_ of the message. In case of a _double_ bounce (= qmail couldn't deliver the bounce), a double bounce message is delivered to the system wide postmaster, which can be configured through /var/qmail/control/doublebounce(to|host). See the qmail documentation. > I want the failures for say virtualdomain1.com (ie: user is over quota) to go to the >postmaster of > virtualdomain1.com instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED] That's not possible without changing the vpopmail code. To give you a better understanding of the vpopmail system: qmail-local calls vdelivermail through .qmail-default. vdelivermail tries to find an account to deliver the mail to. If it works, it delivers the mail. If not, it exists with an error code. qmail-local sees that error code and sends back a bounce to the sender. It's simply that: Success means: success, failure means: bounce mail. Jonas
Re: [vchkpw] Can postmaster set user quota

[vchkpw] Quota limit
Does somebody knows how may put a quota per user plus than 2147483647 bytes (i.e. 6Gb). This question is because when a quota of 4294967295 bytes (i.e.) is established the system doesn't works properly, apparently because a int32 limitation ? Any idea ? Regards, -- Enrique Luis Schamann

Because the domain postmaster often (if not always) have a shell account to run it :) On a more helpful note, I just grabed and installed the latest qmailadmin development version (1.0.10) to try and address a seperate issue, and discovered that it now supports the domain postmaster modifying user quotas, provide the option is added to the ./configure line. > Jonas Dave
[vchkpw] vmoduser core dumps when using whole domain
I was using vpopmail 5.2 awhile ago and everything worked fine; however, after upgrading to 5.3.9, vmoduser now core dumps when you specify an entire domain to modify instead of just a specific e-mail address. Any ideas? Taylor Dondich
[vchkpw] install Problem vpopmail
Hello Ml, I have a question to vpopmail. I want to use vpopmail to easy admin a running qmail e-mail-server. The ./configure script says one error. the flag --enable-sqlincdir=/path/to/include/mysql can't find the MySQL Include files. But the include files are at that place. (I have MySQL not in the default) How can I fix this error message? The MySQL-Version is 3.23.55, a stable version. Best regards, Roland
[vchkpw] vpopbull
Greetings list, I noticed that the vpopbull program (current production release version) doesn't toss an error if you give it bad parameters. Is this fixed in the vpopmail development version? -- Jesse Guardiani, Systems Administrator WingNET Internet Services, P.O. You did "./configure [...] --enable-sqlincdir=/path/to/include/mysql"..? Note that you have to adapt this path to reflect the real location of your include files. > But the include files are at that place. (I have MySQL not in the default) Obviously not, otherwise it would work. * Which vpopmail version are you using? * Show us your _full_ ./configure command. * Show us the _full_ error message. > How can I fix this error message? You'd better fix the problem, not the error message ;-)) Jonas
[vchkpw] Duplicate Messages.
Has anybody seen this before QMAIL + VPOPMAIL - install qmail on system. Local domain is domain1.com - create user1 / user2 on system. Email works fine to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] - no changes to default .qmail files in alias directory. - create virtual domain "vdomain.com" - create [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] - no changes to default .qmail files - send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you get 2 copies of the message in the folder. After much searching, I created .qmail-vuser1 containing 1 line: | /home/bin/vdelivermail '' [EMAIL PROTECTED] And low and behold, only one copy of the message. Can somebody explain why I have to create the .qmail files for the delivery? Thanks Bruce.

Could you tell me? Once you reach 100 users, vpopmail starts hashing any further users into numbered subdirectories. This is done to avoid performance bottlenecks that occur when you have a single dir containing a large number of files/subdirs. Michael.
