HI for dictation try either dragon dictate or vohkul.  there are others but I 
have siri so don't know of them.  Hopefully others can jump in and add to 
these.  Apparently there are lots.  If you type in braille then you could try 
mBraille  or fleksy for typing long posts.

Hi.  is anyone playing this game?  If so are you finding minor accessibility 
problems?  I wonder if anyone knows how to contact the developer?  Maybe those 
of us who like this game could write to them and see if they can be fixed?

the main problems I have found is that it's hard to get out of the adds when 
they come up, If you double tap ask a friend for help the options for sharing 
the question with your friends doesn't come up.  I've found i have to turn 
voice over off and tap around the screen until I hear a typing sound.  
Sometimes I get twitter and sometimes I get something else.  After I have 
shared, I have to take the app out of the app switcher and relaunch it to get 
back to the questions.  If others are having the same problems could you let me 
know? Or if you've founde any work arounds?

I am, and yes, I find the ads to be extremely annoying. There is supposed to be 
a means of buying out of them via in-app purchase, but that too doesn't seem to 
be accessible. It's a fun little game, but I'd like to take advantage of its 
finer points, ya know?

Havent tried contacting the dev yet, but that's going to be my next stop.

Yes, I play it and since recommending the app, I have learned that there is 
a lightbulb on the screen that is used if a person wants to reveal a letter, 
request a hint and other options. I have written the developer but have not 
heard back from them yet. You can also contact them, the more we can get to 
let them know about the accessibility issues, the better, as this might 
convince them to make the app usable with VoiceOver. Their email address is:

I am still having difficulty selecting and copying text on my iPhone 5. I

that point I needed to use the rotor to select edit, copy but there is no edit 
option on the rotor when I'm reading an online article and it is definitely 
turned on in the settings. So can someone tell me how I would do this?

HI.  I emailed them through their contact form.  there was something about 
screen reader users click here to display plain html so it seems at least the 
person who develops their website have some idea about screen readers.  This 
game could be great if only it was a little more accessible.

No, it is not normal provided you already synced music to your phone with
that particular iTunes account. If you never synced any music or accidently
told iTunes not to sync any music then that is what would happen.

Yes, as I said in the pod cast, what is important to one person may not 
be to another, but at this point, nearby explorer is definitely more 
customizeable. I wish the seeing eye app would count down the distance 
to the next street, the way nearby explorer does. Glad you enjoyed it 
though, it was a fun show to do, and I got some exercise in the process, smile.

not set a route, but just started seeing eye and put it in my fanny 
pack's phone slot. As I walked around the neighborhood it told me of 
upcoming intersections, and if I wanted to know more I simply shook  
the fanny pack to get more details. One thing I noticed, seeing eye did 
not announce the street name once I turned onto a different street. 
That's something I would like to see in future updates.

I can confirm this behavior on my 4s. It really is weird but it works.
And you only have to go through routine once then you can read

 1. Touch your finger to the top center of the screen, just below the time on
 the status menu bar, and run your finger vertically down the screen.

 2. Stop when focus is on any of the story entries (e.g., the first top
 story) and double tap.  You'll hear the title of the story announced as
 heading level 1, but you still won't be able to navigate by swiping.

 3. Touch the Share button at the bottom left corner of the screen and
 double tap it.  You can navigate there by touching the home button at the
 bottom of the screen and moving your finger up slightly until you hear
 either Decrease font size, button or button.  Then start moving your
 finger to the left to reach the Share button in the bottom left corner of
 the screen. If you're practiced at the spatial relation of the iPhone screen
 buttons you may be able to move to this button directly, using the left edge
 of your case as a guide, for example.

 4. When you double tap the Share button, focus will be on the Mail
 button.  Double tap that Mail button.  A mail message will come up, and
 focus will be on the Cancel button.  Just double tap on the Cancel
 button, and double tap again on the Delete Draft button that will get the
 default focus.

 5. At this point you should just be able to use a two finger flick up to
 read the whole article (which you couldn't do before), and double tap the
 back button in the top left corner to return to home screen, where all the
 normal gestures appear to work.

 I haven't the slightest idea why this works, but I've tried this at least
 four times, and it gets normal VoiceOver gestures working for me each time.
 I was trying to adjust the font size buttons at the bottom of the page to
 check whether that affected the article's readability, and I hit the Share
 button and tried to get out.  I was really surprised when everything started
 working for me.  I expected that navigating to the article list section by
 touch (vertical stroke down on the screen), might let me navigate with
 gestures, but that didn't happen.

 Can you try this and report whether it works for you?  I'm running the
 latest version of iOS 6 on the iPhone 5.

 through the center of the screen to hear the entries announced, and do a
 three finger swipe up to move to the next page.  I basically can't get any

Just out of curiocity, you are a gmail user, why do you want to backup your
Contacts to Dropbox instead of using Google Contacts where your contacts are
already in the cloud hence they are backed up and can't be lost?

i hope all of you that have suggestions and feature requests for Seeing Eye GPS
are writing to Sendero to let them know. I don't expect they have time to
monitor every Email list where these things are discussed. I do know they want
to hear from people about what they want the app to do.

Hi mike, thanks for the podcast. I found it interesting that the things you
liked about nearby explorer were what I didn't like about it, and what you
didn't like about the seeing eye app is what I really like about it. I used
to use a human ware Trekker, and I always found it too verbose for my taste.
I like the ability to shake the phone and get information on demand. But I
do agree, I do not need to know my altitude or GPS accuracy.
Also, I would like to be able to customize the seeing eye app like nearby
explorer..
After listening to your podcast, I took my iPhone out for a walk. I did not
set a route, but just started seeing eye and put it in my fanny pack's phone
slot. As I walked around the neighborhood it told me of upcoming
intersections, and if I wanted to know more I simply shook the fanny pack
to get more details. One thing I noticed, seeing eye did not announce the
street name once I turned onto a different street. That's something I would
like to see in future updates.

I would highly recommend getting this product. Creating the codes can be 
done in Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, or automatically by integrating 
into you existing system. Unlike QR codes, Voiceye can hold up to 2 pages 
of text that can then be read to the user through voiceover or 
Text-To-Speech, or can be shown in 5 high-contrast modes with 10 levels of 
magnification. Voiceye is being used as a standard by the South Korean 
government for accessible documents with thousands of applications. I know 
that large banks all the way to small companies and individuals are making 
these codes, so I am certain there is something for everyone with Voiceye's 
solution.

I would contact Sight and Sound about your specific situation to see how it 
would work best for you. I am really excited about this product for the 
visually impaired and want to see these codes everywhere.

Hi Alan;

I don't know if this applies here but, this is what I do.

When I am in text I want to select and, copy I turn the rotor to edit.

Then,  I do a double-tap and hold.

When, the menu comes up and, I hit copy.

After that, I go where I want to put the text and, double-tap and hold again.

Then, another menu comes up with paste.

However; I have never been successfully been able to do this 100pc.

Apparently you have to do all the gestures on the album graphics, but how we 
would find that is unclear.

NLS books on an IPhone

Is it possible to play digital talking books from the NLS in the states on an 
IPhone?  The BARD website talks about getting a code from the manufacturer in 
order to play books on something other than an NLS player.

I was wondering if the iPhone could be just used for only voice calls? 
Also, I would like to find a good Wireless T9 keypad for the iPhone. Is 
their a T9 keypad for the iPhone? I could get a numberpad for my 
Wireless Trackpad. Carrying the Wireless Trackpad is a bit cumbersome.

Not at this time. NLS  is working on an app for the iPhone, and is hoping it to 
be finished sometime this fall. The codes  they were talking about were for 
third party devices such as humanware.

Actually, once you set the rotor to characters, words, or lines, use
the pinch gesture to select some text. Once text has been selected,
Edit usually appears in the rotor. I do this fairly regularly. In a
few places, edit does not appear. I suspect text is copy-protected
in these few instances.

Instead of the double tap and hold, a simple flick up or down will take 
you between the different options in the edit setting of the roter, i.e. 
you can flick up or down between select all, copy, paste and so on. Once 
you hear the option you want, just double tap to perform the action.

TV Guide App

Hi,
I just installed the TV Guide App, and so far it seems to be a really cool app. 
My questions are, when I search for let's say channel 106 I see Results for 
channel 107. Is this a bug within the app? Also, when I tap on the change time 
button, nothing happens. So am I doing something wrong?

Could you give us more information? Have you ever been able to get email 
on your iPhone, or are you trying to set up your email for the first 
time? What email provider are you using, and are you using IMAP or POP? 
Are you doing this over cellular data or wifi? Is there anything you did 
to your phone on Thursday that may be related? Are you having any other 
problems on your phone? Finally, are you getting any error messages or 
anything or are you just not seeing your new mail? Are you checking your 
mail from anywhere else, such as your PC or Mac and getting it there 
just fine?

Hi Angus,

If you buy a GSM iPhone at full price and unlocked you can get a SIM from
your provider of choice and you should be able to select a voice only plan.
This is definitely the case in Canada since when I first had my iPhone 4 I
simply kept my existing cheaper voice only plan and I am sure it's true for
Europe. I know people in the States have used ATT prepaid cards, the only
restriction might be with CDMA carriers like Verizon who might force you
into a data plan.

Now, as for why you would want an iPhone and then limit it to voice only
thereby cutting off so much functionality is another question, but it is of
course your choice and I'm just saying that I lasted all of 1 month on my
voice only plan after I got my iPhone back in 2010.

As for keyboards, there are a number of small keyboards out there most of
which are exactly the size of an iPhone, a search of the archives for mini
keyboard would probably give you some results.

  HI for dictation try either dragon dictate or vohkul.  there are others but I 
have siri so don't know of them.  Hopefully others can jump in and add to 
these.  Apparently there are lots.  If you type in braille then you could try 
mBraille  or fleksy for typing long posts.

Hi Robert,

Yes, you can check Music, Apps, Tones etc. one at a time. However, you
should check Music and then tab until you get to where you can check how
your music syncing is setup.

First you come to a checkbox called Sync Music. If this is unchecked then
you know that is your problem right there. Make sure it is checked.

Once this is checked you have 2 choices:
You can check to Sync entire music library which is OK if you either have
an iPhone with a large storage capacity such as a 64 Gig or if your music
library is not that big.
If you prefer to not sync all your music, tab one more time and check Sync
selected playlists, artists and genres. Albums are not mentioned in the
name of that checkbox, but you can also sync specific albums.
If you check this checkbox, you can tab some more and you then have 4
treeviews, one with playlists, one with genres, one with artists and one
with albums. In each treeview you can arrow down the list and check each
item you want to sync by pressing the space bar. You could, for example,
select Dire Straits in the Artist treeview and if you had 5 Dire Straits
albums, they would all be synced. If you want to only sync maybe Brothers in
Arms and Love Over Gold, then don't check Dire Straits in the artist
treeview, but tab to the album treeview, find those 2 albums (they are
sorted alphabetically) and check then instead.

The same applies to most media types, if you check Tones you can check to
sync all ringtones or selected ringtones, if you check selected tones, you
have to go through your list of tones and check those you want. Same goes
for Books, Movies, Apps etc.

Once you are done selecting all your music tab to Apply and this will
start the sync. When it is done you can then select another type of media
like Tones, Apps, Movies, Photos etc. Once you are done getting everything
setup the way you want iTunes will remember those settings and all you have
to do in the future is connect your phone and select Sync in File,
Devices.

Keep in mind that if you add new music, tones etc. and you selected to sync
only selected items, you might have to find the new things in your list and
make sure they are checked before you sync.

I once again want to suggest you check out Jonathan's 2-part Podcast on
iTunes 11 with Jaws 14. I think even if you use a different screenreader you
might find a lot of good information here with respect to how iTunes does
things. You can find the Podcasts at www.FreedomScientific.com/FSCast, they
were done I think earlier this year.

The free Google Search app can be sued to look up weather conditions,
sports scores, movie showtimes, and the like. You cannot use Google
Search for dictation like you can Siri, and the Google Search app will
not automatically read the information to you like Siri does. However,
Google Search does work on the iPhone 4. AppleVis did a comparison
awhile ago between Siri and the Google Search apps. Look in their
podcast listings on their site:
www.applevis.com

The voice search button is right above the home button in Google
Search. One downside to this app is it will track your location and
there will be a location trracking item in your status bar. If you are
not comfortable with this, then don't install the app.

Hi Jim, 

IBGStar is usable by VoiceOver users, but does have some issues. When you do a 
test, you cannot see anything on the score card when using voiceOver. YOU have 
to tap on the Data tab, on the logbook. You then have to find the current date 
and flick through find your current reading. 

It does work and isn't as hard to do as it looks when written out. It could be 
quite easily improved though.

Hi!
I see what you mean, I just tried jumping to a channel. I typed in channel 56, 
which is the history channel, and Voice over  started reading me results for 
channel 58, I think voice over is reading the last item that's on the screen, 
when it jumps to a channel other channels are still listed there. 
 I recommend, when you jump to a channel, after voiceover read the results, run 
your finger on the left side of the screen from the top going towards the 
bottom until you find the channel number that you actually wanted.
Another thing you can do is, if you know the name of the network you want, you 
can change to search for networks, instead of going to a channel, for example I 
searched for the history channel network which is HISTW,  and it  gave me two 
different channels for the history channel. 
Here is how to change the date, and time, after you double tap on change date 
and time, touch the bottom of the screen going from left to right.
On the bottom left you will hear today, that's to change the date, slick right, 
you got that hour, click write again, and you got minutes, flick right one more 
time, and you got a.m., or p.m. These fields will read is picker item, so you 
flick up to change them, and you have to find the go button, so after you 
changed p.m., or  AM, move your finger from the bottom right of the screen 
towards the top and you will find the go button, double tap, then  you  will 
get results.

This is not the problem. When i  was syncing a tone the only thing that was 
checked was tones.  Then I tabbed to sync tones which  was not checked. 
When I checked it it warned me that all music and videos would be removed 
from the device if i continued. I  hit ok.  When the syncing was complete 
the new tone was there but all music was gone.  Again, the only thing that 
was checked was tones.

Yes, you can check Music, Apps, Tones etc. one at a time. However, you
should check Music and then tab until you get to where you can check how
your music syncing is setup.

First you come to a checkbox called Sync Music. If this is unchecked then
you know that is your problem right there. Make sure it is checked.

Once this is checked you have 2 choices:
You can check to Sync entire music library which is OK if you either have
an iPhone with a large storage capacity such as a 64 Gig or if your music
library is not that big.
If you prefer to not sync all your music, tab one more time and check Sync
selected playlists, artists and genres. Albums are not mentioned in the
name of that checkbox, but you can also sync specific albums.
If you check this checkbox, you can tab some more and you then have 4
treeviews, one with playlists, one with genres, one with artists and one
with albums. In each treeview you can arrow down the list and check each
item you want to sync by pressing the space bar. You could, for example,
select Dire Straits in the Artist treeview and if you had 5 Dire Straits
albums, they would all be synced. If you want to only sync maybe Brothers in
Arms and Love Over Gold, then don't check Dire Straits in the artist
treeview, but tab to the album treeview, find those 2 albums (they are
sorted alphabetically) and check then instead.

The same applies to most media types, if you check Tones you can check to
sync all ringtones or selected ringtones, if you check selected tones, you
have to go through your list of tones and check those you want. Same goes
for Books, Movies, Apps etc.

Once you are done selecting all your music tab to Apply and this will
start the sync. When it is done you can then select another type of media
like Tones, Apps, Movies, Photos etc. Once you are done getting everything
setup the way you want iTunes will remember those settings and all you have
to do in the future is connect your phone and select Sync in File,
Devices.

Keep in mind that if you add new music, tones etc. and you selected to sync
only selected items, you might have to find the new things in your list and
make sure they are checked before you sync.

I once again want to suggest you check out Jonathan's 2-part Podcast on
iTunes 11 with Jaws 14. I think even if you use a different screenreader you
might find a lot of good information here with respect to how iTunes does
things. You can find the Podcasts at www.FreedomScientific.com/FSCast, they
were done I think earlier this year.

Back with a little  Siri humor. I set an alarm for 7 a.m. I woke up wide awake 
at 6:30 a.m. Instead of waiting for the alarm to go off, I asked Siri to  
cancel my alarm for 7 a.m. Her answer? OK, your alarm for 7 a.m. has been 
canceled. Now we can all get some sleep! I chuckled the whole morning!

Robert, maybe I'm missing something but if you only told iTunes to sync
tones and you also had music on your device, after the sync is completed,
your device will only be left with what you last synced, that is tones. And
based on what you wrote, it sounds like iTunes warned you that any music and
videos on your device would be removed. I'm a bit confused since iTunes
seemed to do what it told you it would.

Renaming App

I just updated my Tap Forms Lite app from within the app itself. However,
the app's name did not change from Tap Forms LT. How can I manually rename
the app to remove the LT?

Renaming App

Alan, you can use VoiceOver to relabel the name announced for the app on your 
iPhone, but you cannot change the name of the app or its associated application 
file name stored in your iTunes library.  The reason is that the App Store 
keeps track of your purchases based on the actual application versions you 
bought.  If you try to load the Tap Forms app onto another device, and select 
the regular (paid, not Lite) version, you'll be charged for it, because there 
will be no record of your purchasing that version.  To access a working copy if 
the full version in your case, you'd have to download another copy of the Tap 
Forms Lite version, and then restore updates within the app. Keeping the 
original name (with the LT) is a way of reminding you about this, so you do not 
get charged twice.

Let me ask you this. Have you ever hooked up this particular iPhone to this
particular computer/iTunes installation and, if so, have you ever synced
music before?

It really doesn't matter if Music is checked or not. If I hooked my iPhone
up to your computer and then checked Tones and selected to sync all your
Tones, the tones would be on my iPhone but everything else would be gone
because iTunes looks at my iPhone and knows that this particular phone has
never been synced before with this iTuunes installation hence iTunes makes
the phone the same as iTunes and if I had 10,000 songs on my phone before
those will be gone. I don't know how else to explain it, but if iTunes
erased your music off your phone and warned you that it would do so then
that means that either your phone had not been synced with that iTunes
installation before or that between the last sync and that one somehow the
checkbox to Sync Music had been unchecked. By that I mean not the
checkmark for the main Music area which is in that area that starts with
Summary, Info, Apps etc., but the Sync Music checkbox which you find after
you check the Music category.

Anyhow, if the music is in your iTunes library it's really not a big deal,
just tell it to resync it.

checked was tones.  Then I tabbed to sync tones which  was not checked. 
When I checked it it warned me that all music and videos would be removed
from the device if i continued. I  hit ok.  When the syncing was complete

Yes, you can check Music, Apps, Tones etc. one at a time. However, you
should check Music and then tab until you get to where you can check how
your music syncing is setup.

First you come to a checkbox called Sync Music. If this is unchecked then
you know that is your problem right there. Make sure it is checked.

Once this is checked you have 2 choices:
You can check to Sync entire music library which is OK if you either have
an iPhone with a large storage capacity such as a 64 Gig or if your music
library is not that big.
If you prefer to not sync all your music, tab one more time and check Sync
selected playlists, artists and genres. Albums are not mentioned in the
name of that checkbox, but you can also sync specific albums.
If you check this checkbox, you can tab some more and you then have 4
treeviews, one with playlists, one with genres, one with artists and one
with albums. In each treeview you can arrow down the list and check each
item you want to sync by pressing the space bar. You could, for example,
select Dire Straits in the Artist treeview and if you had 5 Dire Straits
albums, they would all be synced. If you want to only sync maybe Brothers in
Arms and Love Over Gold, then don't check Dire Straits in the artist
treeview, but tab to the album treeview, find those 2 albums (they are
sorted alphabetically) and check then instead.

The same applies to most media types, if you check Tones you can check to
sync all ringtones or selected ringtones, if you check selected tones, you
have to go through your list of tones and check those you want. Same goes
for Books, Movies, Apps etc.

Once you are done selecting all your music tab to Apply and this will
start the sync. When it is done you can then select another type of media
like Tones, Apps, Movies, Photos etc. Once you are done getting everything
setup the way you want iTunes will remember those settings and all you have
to do in the future is connect your phone and select Sync in File,
Devices.

Keep in mind that if you add new music, tones etc. and you selected to sync
only selected items, you might have to find the new things in your list and
make sure they are checked before you sync.

I once again want to suggest you check out Jonathan's 2-part Podcast on
iTunes 11 with Jaws 14. I think even if you use a different screenreader you
might find a lot of good information here with respect to how iTunes does
things. You can find the Podcasts at www.FreedomScientific.com/FSCast, they
were done I think earlier this year.

Esther, thanks for the explanation but I don't think I'm getting all of it.
Since I did purchase the full Tap Forms app but did so through a link in the
program, if I later download the Lite version again to another device and
update to the full version within that app, would it be updated for free
since it was purchased previously? I believe that's what you're saying
below.

I don't think I'm a fan of how this works and it would have made since for
me to simply purchase the full app using either my phone or the iTunes Store
rather than the way I did it. I think it's confusing to have an app labeled
as lite when it is no longer the lite version but a full version. Is there
any way to get around this without having to pay another $8.99? 

What is actually happening when an app update is done through the app
itself? You mention that there is no record of the purchase. Doesn't the App
Store have to be informed of the update purchase? I assume I'll be getting
the usual email from them in a day or two dinging me for the $8.99.

I know I'm not the only one confused by how app updates are handled because
I seem to recall other posts on this topic in the past.

Hi Alan, firstly, thank you so much for putting me on to this app. It is 
exactly what I needed. 
I downloaded the lite version first  and when you go to purchase the full 
version, it does tell you that the app name will not change from the lt 
version. I agree, it creates confusion. I am going to just rename the app using 
voiceover  - basically just calling it Tap Forms without the Lt. It does also 
say that you have to purchase separate copies for your mac and ipad. I also use 
an ipad for work so will most likely end up doing this as it is going to be so 
useful. When I do that though, I'll go straight to the paid version in the App 
Store and pay for it directly for my ipad. I am assuming then that it will be 
simply called Tap Forms. I wonder if an email to the dev could change the name 
and remove the Lite when you upgrade via in app purchasing? He seems pretty 
responsive looking over his blog briefly.

Frustrated with Seeing Eye Sluggishness on iPhone 4

Hi all,

When I first installed and ran Seeing Eye GPS on my iPhone 4 it was very 
sluggish when I tried navigating around the Location screen.  I cleared out the 
app switcher and still no joy.  Finally, I shut down and restarted the phone 
and the app seemed more responsive with VoiceOver afterwords.  

Lately the app is getting sluggish again and staying that way despite clearing 
out the app switcher and powering down and restarting the phone.

I should tell you that I'm not using the phone with bluetooth on, and wi-fi is 
turned off, too.  All data coming in is over 3g or is whatever the internal GPS 
receiver brings in. 

I really like the app and want to use it as often as I can, but short of 
upgrading to a newer, faster phone I'm at a loss here.  Are there optimal 
settings which will ensure that I can move freely about the screen without the 
app or VoiceOver getting hopelessly bogged down?  This is puzzling and 
frustrating me, so any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

talking goggles

I see talking goggles is back in the app store and there's an update, so 
installed the update.  Still doesn't work for me though.  I deleted the app and 
reinstalled from the purchased list under updates.  Oddly, there are two 
entries for talking goggles in the list and they appear to be the same.  
I installed one and then an update button was present instead of the install 
button. And, I still can't get it to give any feedback at all.  

Anyone  else tried it with success?

Fleksy Update - Version 1.8

Fleksy released a new version 1.8 today. I've not installed it yet but i
know many on this list use Fleksy. Some of the changes include:
 
1. Integrating favorites with contacts.
2. Accuracy and speed improvements.
3. A couple of appearance themes to change the look. These used to be called
skins in the PC world if I'm remembering correctly.
 
I really love this app but haven't taken the upgrade plunge yet. I'm always
a little nervous about upgrading something I've already learned the ins and
outs of unless it includes some must have new feature.
 
I would appreciate it if someone updating to the new version would give us
your comments about it.

Everything seems to work well and it's certainly nice to finally have that
Contact integration.

 

The app does seem a bit snappier, but I still sometimes experience the issue
that when I type a name or something accurately (by touching and waiting to
ear the feedback) that sometimes I touch 2 or 3 letters and then when I try
to type the next one Voiceover shuts up and I have to start over. But this
certainly is not a new problem, everything else is very good. You know, I
guess these themes might be important since they are also trying to go after
regular sighted users, but I couldn't care less how it looks as long as it
works.

I have no suggestions other than that this is something you should

regarding the Seeing Eye app. Of course it will be interesting to see if any
other iPhone 4 users on this list reply and confirm or not confirm your

Hi all,

 

When I first installed and ran Seeing Eye GPS on my iPhone 4 it was very
sluggish when I tried navigating around the Location screen.  I cleared out
the app switcher and still no joy.  Finally, I shut down and restarted the
phone and the app seemed more responsive with VoiceOver afterwords.  

 

Lately the app is getting sluggish again and staying that way despite
clearing out the app switcher and powering down and restarting the phone.

 

I should tell you that I'm not using the phone with bluetooth on, and wi-fi
is turned off, too.  All data coming in is over 3g or is whatever the
internal GPS receiver brings in. 

 

I really like the app and want to use it as often as I can, but short of
upgrading to a newer, faster phone I'm at a loss here.  Are there optimal
settings which will ensure that I can move freely about the screen without
the app or VoiceOver getting hopelessly bogged down?  This is puzzling and
frustrating me, so any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I updated Fleksy, it seems to be working fine. As a matter fact, it seems 
faster. Not much is changed, except for favorites are now under an integrated 
button.
I tried using the vanilla skin, I didn't like the way it looked and went back 
to the old style.
