Hello Marie and Everyone Who Replied to my Question: Thank you all for reminding me about the Speak Screen feature. As it turns out, in iBooks, at least, Speak Screen results in two different scenarios, the second of which is exactly what I want or, more accurately, reflects the scenario in iOS 7.x. Marie, as you stated, if one first places focus on the Status Bar before initiating the feature, the Speak Screen dialog box appears, reading commences with the specified voice, rate, etc. However, if, after enabling the Speak Screen feature, in ibooks, one merely places focus anywhere in the actual text, then performs a 2-finger swipe down, continuous reading will commence in the same way it did in iOS 7.x. Hi, i'm not sure what exactly speak screen does, and i have no experience with it. However, two finger flick down on ibooks on the text always do continue reading from VO anyway. Contacts folder on IPhone 6 and in IOS8.2
How can I move the contacts folder from the Extra folder on my IPhone 6 to the main home screen? Is it easy to do and if so how? deactivating passcode
Hi all, using a 5S how do you deactivate the passcode feature if you do not wish to use one anymore, I can find a deactivate button in settings but double tapping this doesn't seem to implement the command as when I lock and unlock my phone, I'm still asked to type my passcode. I was careful to turn settings off in the app switcher before locking and unlocking the device. What am I doing wrong? Any help gratefully received. Viewing IPhone 6 folders and contents on it from Windows and Windows explorer
Can you explore the contents of what is on the IPhone 6 when connected to the PC and through Windows like each folder etc. and copy and paste and move an delete contents from it that way? Huh? I tried speak screen but normally I just swipe two fingers down in iBooks and it reads continuously anyway, I still have not seen the true value of speak screen. no, the simple answer is you can't. However, there are ways that you can do it.. the only easy way you can view the contents is via iTunes. And you can't copy and pace files and foulders that you like from or to iphone... RE: Contacts folder on IPhone 6 and in IOS8.2
To move any folder, use the pass through gesture, which is a double-tap and hold the second tap and do not lift your finger. When you hear a triton, VoiceOver should say move or delete or something like that. Slide your finger down the screen a way and VoiceOver will say outside of folder, hold for 5 seconds to close. Once the folder is closed, if you want the app on that screen just lift your finger. If you want to change screens, slowly slide toward the edge of the screen in the direction you want the app to go. So, left for a page before and right for a page after. You should hear, moving to page 1 or whatever. Then lift your finger. If you get it on top of another app, you may end up creating another folder. So, make sure you have room on the screen you are moving to before you do this. Another trick is to move an app out of your dock, move the app you want to move into the dock, flick to the page where you want the app and move it from the dock up onto that page. Then go back to the previous page and move the app you had taken out of the dock back into the dock. If you read the article I posted over the weekend, it clearly states that the whole hundred thousand users thing is a myth, and says that anyone who signs up for the OS X Yosemite beta with their Macs and gives feedback about it can enroll in the iOS public beta. Hi Shawn, even if that is the case, you would think they would still need to select people. I wouldn't think that the invite is just automatic. Hi, wow really? while I did find the app most accessible I must admit to having run into a serious problem when attempting to refill a prescription via the app. I had renewals left and was in the process of submitting the refill order when I got to the screen where it asks you to select your shipping address. I could neither find my shipping address on the screen nor figure out any way of getting it there nor could I advance any further in the process. I had to do it via the pc which has always been successful. I did report it to them and they indicated having manifold issues with the app in its current form though what those were they didn't elaborate. Have you tried going to settings passed code and then choose turn passed off and then swipe to turn off and then double tap. Then you have to enter the passcode again and then it will ask you if you want to turn off key chain and then if you want to still keep using key chain then choose keep using iCloud key chain and then the pass code feature should be deactivated. Hi Marie, Just as an alternative, have you considered setting up Touch Id? You do have a 5S so you have the option to unlock with your fingerprint. It works extremely well and it's in fact easier than unlocking your phone without a passcode and of course you still have the security of having a device nobody can access should you ever loose it. It takes a little vbit of practice, but once it's set up correctly and you get the hang of it it's super easy and accurate. You would, however, still have to enter your passcode once after a reboot of the phone, once you do that you can always use your fingerprint on the home button until you next turn off/reboot the phone. If friend of mine has pointed out to me that all of the games are easily accessible in tune in radio. Open tune in radio, go to featured and then to college basketball. From there, the games are easily accessible according to this friend of mine. Also, there is a website that is very accessible and shows all the brackets, since at least for me, the March madness app bracket section is not the most friendly. Speak screen uses text to speech to read the screen, but not with Voiceover. You could theoetically multitask using Voiceover in other apps while reading a book. I might think that you could do this with Braille only using Voiceover while speak Screen is reading the audio in iBooks, but I haven't tried this. It also allows you to read in iBooks and on web pages with the screen locked. if you get notifications, Speak Screen will continue to read and the book reading won'tbe interrupted. If you simply swipe down in iBooks, you're using Voiceover to read the book, but if you swipe after touching the status bar, you're reading with Speak Screen. Sharing or viewing Amazon crash logs -was- Re: Something Is Wrong With The Amazon Update
Hello All, I'd like to remind everyone who has not done this already, to share your crash logs for the Amazon app with Apple and Amazon. I am running iOS 8.2 on an iPhone 6+ and am seeing consistent crashes with the Amazon app in addition to difficulties in Voiceover navigation of search results. For those who are also seeing crashes, here is how you can share your crash logs. You can share your crash reports simply by going into Settings and then into Privacy. Once in Privacy, at the bottom of the screen you will see a button which is called 'Advertising.' Just above this button is another button labeled 'Diagnostics and Usage.' when you tap the 'Diagnostics and Usage' button, you will be taken to another screen which allows you to choose whether you would like to share crash data with app developers. Scroll all the way to the bottom of this screen and you will see a label which says in part; Help app developers improve their apps by allowing Apple to share crash data as well as statistics about how you use their apps with them… Just above this label is a switch entitled 'Share with App Developers,' which you can enable or disable. When you enable this switch, crash data is automatically sent to Apple and then to the specific app developer in question, so that they can better learn what is happening with their app. For those who may be curious, above the switch is a button labeled 'Diagnostic and Usage data.' when you tap this button, you can see a list of crash logs for all apps which have crashed recently on your device. These crash logs may be cleared from time to time as their data is sent to Apple. If you have opted not to share crash data with developers then these logs should stay on your system. If you would like, you can double or split-tap on any of the listed crash logs and that log will be displayed. Each log is named according to the app that generated it and the date and time it was generated. You may read these logs with Voiceover by either flicking down with two fingers or navigating by touch to the specific lines you would like to read. If you wish, you may also start Voiceover reading the entire crash log and then do a three-finger quadruple tap to copy all of the text which is being spoken, to the clipboard, so you may paste it into an email etc. This way you may manually share these crash reports with app developers, if you wish. Just as a reference, in my case, the crashes I am seeing from the Amazon app are due to a segmentation fault which means that the app is trying to access a memory address which is not available to it. The UIAccessibility framework is also coming up in the crash log which says to me that Voiceover is involved here as well. I hope this helps. The advantage of speak screen is that it continues to read even when the screen locks, whereas voiceover will cease reading on a locked screen. In addition you have the option to select a different voice and speed with speak screen, not available with the normal voiceover read-all. Hi all, I have a question for you all. I noticed earlier today that I have a i watch app on my phone. I don't know where it came from. I did upgrade my phone when I got the latest software update. So I'm wondering when you upgrade to the latest software, do you automatically get the i watch app? I never went to the app store and downloaded such a app. Any thoughts on this ? This option can be found at the top of the same screen where you are asked if you would like to share data with app developers. If you are not sharing data with Apple, the option to share data with developers (which I mention in my previous note) will not be visible. So once again, you may locate these options by going to: Settings and then to Privacy. tap the Diagnostics and Usage button On this screen you may both send data to Apple and also Share data with app developers. Scroll all the way to the bottom of this screen and you will see a label which says in part; Help app developers improve their apps by allowing Apple to share crash data as well as statistics about how you use their apps with them… Just above this label is a switch entitled 'Share with App Developers,' which you can enable or disable. When you enable this switch, crash data is automatically sent to Apple and then to the specific app developer in question, so that they can better learn what is happening with their app. For those who may be curious, above the switch is a button labeled 'Diagnostic and Usage data.' when you tap this button, you can see a list of crash logs for all apps which have crashed recently on your device. These crash logs may be cleared from time to time as their data is sent to Apple. If you have opted not to share crash data with developers then these logs should stay on your system. If you would like, you can double or split-tap on any of the listed crash logs and that log will be displayed. Each log is named according to the app that generated it and the date and time it was generated. You may read these logs with Voiceover by either flicking down with two fingers or navigating by touch to the specific lines you would like to read. If you wish, you may also start Voiceover reading the entire crash log and then do a three-finger quadruple tap to copy all of the text which is being spoken, to the clipboard, so you may paste it into an email etc. This way you may manually share these crash reports with app developers, if you wish. Just as a reference, in my case, the crashes I am seeing from the Amazon app are due to a segmentation fault which means that the app is trying to access a memory address which is not available to it. The UIAccessibility framework is also coming up in the crash log which says to me that Voiceover is involved here as well. I hope this helps. I was just updating apps and noticed that there is a new serious XM app, which says it has a whole new interface and bunches of new features. I use radium for my XM needs. I hope they really are investigating, and that they will do whatever it takes to restore the great accessibility of their former app. A couple of weeks before the December holidays, they completely re-designed their amazon.com/access web site, they broke it, many people called to complain and express their concern. Thgese people were told the same thing you were, but the /access page is still more difficult to use than their regular online page, and I can't figure out how to send items to addresses that are different from mine on either web site! It's fine to tell us that they are investigating, or that they're working on it, but it is action that will convince us they really care. Hello All, I have recently become a huge fan of both the CVS Pharmacy website and, more importantly to me, the CVS iOS App. As an F.Y.I., in the area in which I live, there are over 11 CVS Pharmacies staffed with some of the nicest pharmacists and pharmacy technicians I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. These people really care about their customers. I am posting this to let you know that the CVS Pharmacy iOS app is marvelously accessible via VoiceOver, Apples' software screen reading solution for the blind and low vision. For the first time in my life, I can independently access and manage all of my prescriptions with confidence and privacy.
