control permissions at the field level.
But I think this approach would accomplish what you want
as long as your permission model is secure then letting them into that view
won't give them access to something they shouldn't have access tothen
it shouldn't be an issue for them to be therebut, the method outlined
before will prevent it nonetheless if that's your wish :)

We did a default tomcat install, then mid tier. Now we are missing a bunch of
cookies.
I can see we are missing many folders on our tomcat instance including the
rootmanager folder
Atleast on 7.6 this wasn't the case. Users were not prompted to login even if
they are not already logged in.
Issue is consistent to only few users.
Removing the user name and pwd from link prompts all users to login.

This is such a bad idea. Running .exe files from some kind of user
interaction was never a good idea... particularly if there's some way
for the client to define the exe and/or parameters.

If your process statement syntax is correct, it will work.
Just another option to explore. It solved an issue I was having.
