We've been trying to find one of those but we've been getting conflicting info all the time about if it will be satisfactory or not. Some of us would gladly try it, but we haven't looked hard enough, I suppose. Nevertheless, the pickup coil would be a great step up if we could get it working.

Re: Update 2 of the Public electronic Game library has been released!

@post 3 we started doing this in 2016 and back then we didn't know any better. Also, the majority of the recordings we make are lossy to begin with due to them being done using the Voice Memos app on IOS. And honestly I don't see the benefit with turning things losless now that we have this much data stored already. If we started out using flac in the early days, maybe, but not anymore. It's too late to change now. We have been making creations and skits with these sounds for well over 3 years now, and sure it may not be top quality, but it isn't dreadful by any means. @Post 2, here's a direct google drive link instead, hopefully it should work. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q-u7Ys … sp=sharing

Update 2 of the Public electronic Game library has been released!

Hi all, My friends and I have been working on and off for the last few months, and now we have made enough progress to call it a new iteration. For those new, the public electronic game library is a sound library containing sounds and mechanical workings of battery operated games such as Bop it and Simon, primarily in ogg format, which makes the file sizes smaller. I strongly recommend you read the readme.html file if you don't understand how a game is played, and to know more background about who has been involved in the project. I would even recommend those who have already downloaded an earlier version of the readme to take a quick run through of it again, since it has been changed somewhat. Also note that Even if you have downloaded an older version of the library in the past, in case you don't mind using some more data, I would recommend you download the entire 7Z folder again. This is because the two versions are not compatible in certain cases, games have been moved around and if you try to merge the two, you will encounter duplicates. Here is the change log for this update: Noted certain Member's public Keybase folders below their descriptionNoted some in page links to jump to relevant sections inside descriptionsNoted any reference to the Pocket clear simon from 1988 changed to 1998, relocated the folder names as suchNoted the original simon remake 1984 turned out to be a simon 1997. Re: RHRE: is anyone able to use it?

It's simple, really. I didn't use the program at all. I took it's sounds from the package called RHRE Database, and stitched them together with Gold Wave. That's all that happened. Because of this, the timings of my inputs were sometimes way off and I couldn't fix them later.

Re: nitpicky about how smoothly speech synths can speed up

2021-01-01 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

Re: nitpicky about how smoothly speech synths can speed up

Hi all, I'm also a non native english speaker, but I don't think the challenge would be to understand any concepts or new words in the text I would be reading, personally. To me, the constant speeding up annoys me. Sure, I use my voices at a medium to fast range, (my default voice is eSpeak for multilingual purposes, at rate 70 with boost off and my prefered reading voice for english on the iPhone is Victoria at rate 100 which I'm very comfortable with), and all these rates are about the highest I can go before everything starts falling apart for me. Eloquence used to be in my list for a few years, except now for whatever reason IBM TTS for NVDA kinda... Doesn't decide to work on my instalation for whatever reason, but I've come to accept eloquence as a lost synth and I'm perfectly fine with using Espeak. That's just my opinion though. On a slightly related note, I agree with a point that has been stated earlier, where we were talking about how the voice needs to stay constant, or at least constant enough with it's inflections that you can focus on the content itself instead of the way the voice says things. I know a lot of people use Siri voices or vocalizer on their IOS devices, but me personally, I stick with Victoria precisely because of this fenomenon. Unit selection based concatonative voices, especially ones that are big, tend to have so much data in them for saying phrases that don't translate over for daily use, especially not with VO, for Siri itself, maybe, but not when reading quickly and not when you are trying to focus on what you're reading instead of the weird pronounciation glitches that can happen because of the way the units go together. This is really annoying when I'm reading in my native language, Hungarian, on IOS, since Mariska is the only voice available, and she, although only 43MB, has intonation and pronounciation errors in almost every sentence she says. And the annoying part is, I can't get used to the compact variants, either, at least not the vocalizer ones. Maybe the windows one core ones i can, but even then I find them a bit all over the place when it comes to inflection. One thing that I'm not sure if anyone does, but I find the phonetic punctuation add on extremely useful for truncating bits of text or punctuation marks into tiny little beeps. The most common of these is a 2000hz tone for a comma, which make it so much faster to read through bits of text. With Espeak you can't tell if the rizing intonation at the end of a sentence is due to a comma, a question mark, or a semicolon, so I made the comma beep to differenciate it. Also, the elipsis has a sound of it's own to differenciate it as well. Besides the punctuation marks, very common things NVDA says, like when navigating object review, such as top, bottom, left, and right, are beeps as well. This also ties in to the audio themes add on, allowing me to know what kind of control I am focussed on in a moments notice instead of having to listen to it at the end of an utterance like I usually would with any other operating system. Things like this speed up my workflow enough that is comfortable for me, although if I have to use a temprary copy of NVDA on someone's computer, I can deel without them, too, of course, it's not necessary to have them, but when working regularly, at least on Windows with NVDA< it helps me, personally. I hope this helped to bring more insight into the topic, and thanks for reading.

How would I go about contributing to the Espeak NG language dictionary

2020-12-14 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

How would I go about contributing to the Espeak NG language dictionary

Hi all, I have recently been wondering about the syntax of the dictionary files you can find on Github, how the phoneme tables work, and if I could change the pronunciation of certain words in a language I know enough about? I feel a little bit lost on Github as it is, and trying to find the easiest way to do this is... Well, not easy. By the end, I would hope to enable these pronunciation changes to be included in a build of Espeak NG that would also update with the new version of NVDA, if one comes out. Do you have any ideas on how I should get started, like how to first analyse the dictionary file, then how to test any changes that I could make to it? Thanks.

Re: A new way of hosting public files, EG Public library has been moved!

@Remi, make sure when the web view doesn't work to only do the object nav click thing once. When it has been done successfully, the app should behave like any other web page. If none of this works, try clicking on random parts of the interface, then pressing space. If there are any edit boxes near by, clicking on one will instantly make the app accessible again. I hope this helps, although it is a bit annoying I do agree. In fact, it's even worse on Mac because if you try to stop interacting, once! You get nothing but the close, minimise, and full screen buttons. Now that is annoying! You can't ever interact with the app now, at all, until you force quit and restart it. And whatever you do, do not! Put it in full screen! I did, and the window just hides itself, never to be seen again, and worst of all, it saves! So that means you'r client is busted until you uninstall and reinstall it again. So please don't do what I did.

A new way of hosting public files, EG Public library has been moved!

Hi all, So Me and Zarvox(Daniel Ingraham) have wanted to move away from BT sync and Resilio for a really long time due to it's constant conflicts and just... Not working properly. Daniel found this thing that... To be quite honest, I'm surprised this even exists. It's called Keybase, an alternative to Dropbox, BT Sync and other file sharing services. You can learn more about it at https://keybase.io/The way it works is you make a user account, and you get assigned a free network drive on any device, Mac, Windows, Linux, IOS, Android, whatever, that is 250 GB! In size. This can be split into three categories. Public (where your public user files go )private ( that only you can see, along with all your signed in devices) and team( where you and other members can collaborate on projects). I have already set up my public folder with some recordings and files in it, along with the Public Electronic Game library. You can find all this at https://keybase.pub/zseli22Zarvox has made a few things available, as well. You can find his folder at https://keybase.pub/daniel_ingrahamThis has been the change we have all been waiting for! I'm still shocked that it exists! If you have any questions or would like to help with the public EG library(The offer still stands) please let us know. Thanks for reading!

Re: VMware player and audio related questions

Hi, I haven't been able to check if it works or not since NVDA kept crashing when I tried to use the VM, but when I have enough time I'll check if it works, although I am really confused as to what running WMP in the background would do to help. It doesn't make any sense. If nothing works I guess I could just try to downgrade to an earlier version of VMware player. Also what do I do if the OS I am running isn't windows, like if I ever wanted to install, say, linux as a VM do I have an equivalent there? Because I think this applies to any VM I run regardless of OS, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

VMware player and audio related questions

2020-10-14 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

VMware player and audio related questions

Hi all, I can't say I use virtual machines often, but i do have one on my computer for messing with older speech synthesizers. Unfortunately, ever since I updated to VMware player 16, there is this weird problem, where about 15 seconds after I power on the machine, it starts stuttering like crazy. It's a consistent kind of stuttering, doesn't change ever. It sounds as if the audio is playing about 75% of the actual speed that the machine is running on. This is an XP machine, by the way, not windows 10 or anything fancy and new. So, what could I have messed up that could have caused this to happen? I tried changing the processor cores and the ram, but that didn't affect anything. What else could be causing this? Oh, and before I forget, this is not just this one machine either. I tried out a different machine from Grossgang.com, an even older version of Windows, it does the exact same thing. So it isn't even the machine settings, it's VMware itself. What is going on? Does anyone have any ideas, Oh, and on a slightly unrelated note, once this is solved I would like to know if I can eliminate the 200 or so miliseconds of lag that i get when using the machine. I know you can do it using VMware tools on the guest if it is windows 10, but what do I do if it's older, in my case, XP? Is there anything I can do like changing the sound device or whatever? Thanks for any help.

My newest MML creation

Hi all, I know some of you, I mean people who are following my youtube, already know about this, but I thought I might as well put it on here so more people can see it. I, like many others, sometimes like to listen to random video game soundtracks, and sometimes, the game by itself doesn't interest me at all, it's just the music. This was the case with Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge for the Game Boy Advance. I just listened to some of these tracks and thought, I would really love to make a remix of one. So I did. It took me about four days, with about an hour and a a half of work on each day, to make this. I had a lot of fun doing it, and I think it sounds OK. For reference, here is the original track: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ge05h4covcb4t … e.mp3?dl=1And here is my remix. I had to make it a tiny bit slower since MML decided to not play nice with any faster tempos I threw at it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/t3nuvahnc4j9t … x.mp3?dl=1I hope you enjoy.

We know of the original Copy cat, unfortunately no one has it so we don't have a lot of details, and to be quite honest the only reason we included the Pocket repeat is because it isn't! Emulatable in Mame. Btw the exclamation mark doesn't mean I'm shouting, it just strengthens the point of the statement I'm trying to make.

Re: Gaging interest in the public electronic game library

You can do whatever you want with the sounds, as long as you aren't using them in commercial works. We have no right to these sounds ourselves, we just recorded them from the games, which means the sounds are not ours, but owned by the companies who released them. Thus, using the sounds in a payed project could lead into problems. Also, if you do end up using them, some credit would be greatly appreciated.

SO wait, I'm still confused about this whole private API key thing. Do you need to pay money for this? And how easy is it to do as a non developer? I'm asking these questions because from reading up on the subject I'm getting information that just sounds too complicated... I always thought the privilage to use youtube was free, in almost any form, and foobar's youtube search has been on my install for over three years. If I have to pay for it now, I'm basically locked out of it.

OK Americandad2005, I agree with Ivan on this, you just sent me like a million files that I may not even include. I don't know if you understand me or not, or if you have read the readme, but I specifically told you guys, 1, no square waves, and 2, no inaccessible consoles. Please! Is this so hard to understand? About updating the library, if there would be a way for someone to extract the current folder and let certain people access it from the outside like an FTP or something, could be useful. I don't recommend Resilio because that's what we are using privately and it would just become extremely complicated, plus everyone would have to sync every change as it happens rather than getting it when they want to. If there is anything you could do about this, please let me know. And since a few of you have asked for the LPC library, here is that one, through dropbox this time since that's where I have it at the current moment. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ibgk7r2m9drly … es.7z?dl=1

Re: Gaging interest in the public electronic game library

Hi to all, Thanks for all the interest, I'm glad there are people who actually enjoy this library for what it is. Americandad2005, I'll check the sounds you posted when I have a stable internet connection. About the games like Milton and Bird brain, I guess we could put them in? one of our members has a bird brain already, although he hasn't recorded it yet. We tried looking for a test mode, and interestingly we found a way to make it play a beep, but not much else. After you pressed any button, the beep would stop, and it would simply say good bye. Also, a while back I made a recording of Milton using Mame, but haven't gotten around to trimming it yet, but what I do have that I thought people wouldn't be as interested in, is another library add on, basically, called LPC, containing the Texas Instruments Speak and spell and Speak and math, as well as a few other things. I took about two months last year to make that, and if I could help with giving that out to anyone who is interested, I'd be glad to do so. I just thought this is so different from electronic games that I didn't want to include it immediately. Also, the bopit referenced in post 30 is called the Bratz bopit from 2004. We have a recording of that ready to be trimmed as well, no worries, we just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Thanks for letting me knoe about it again, I totally forgot it existed since it's so similar to the clear bopit from 2002 that I now happen to own. Looks the same, too, apparently, from what I'Ve been told, so if you're blind you can't tel the difference unless you play it. Thanks again for the links being put up, I'll check how it's going in a few hours once I am able to download a large amount of files.

Re: Gaging interest in the public electronic game library

Hi turtlepower17, The recordings we have made for the library have been recorded over the last three or four years, and specifically this year we have already recorded many more things that are still left untrimmed. I would like to at least start on some of those, especially updating the mechanics folder, before taking on outside submissions, but there is a chance we'll get to the point where we could accept them. The problem is that the games you describe all would fall into the misc category, and of course if they don't have any special, one of a kind sample, I mean if it just has square wave beeps and stuff, I would think about trying something else. The only reason we have recorded some games with square waves in the beginning is because it was part of the Simon category, but now I would hesitate in doing it. If it uses actual wave files and is interesting, I would love to know more about these, sooner or later. In fact, we specifically had a trimmed version of Tiger's Who wants to be a Milionaire tabletop, but I decided not to include it because for one, the samples are terrible quality and for two, it really isn't an electronic game in our sense of the term. In general terms it is, but it just doesn't fit into what I would like to call electronic games. I hope that makes sense.

Here's a funny story I would like to share with you guys, just a little thing behind the scenes. So some games don't have sound test modes, meaning to get all the sounds we have to actually play the game and get them to trigger. Such was the case with the Hyper Dash extreme. It took me about a week of playing level 3 over and over with six players to finally get this recording. Just goes to show how long we have to persiveer for one single sample. https://www.dropbox.com/s/7lngebz9qp8it … s.mp3?dl=1

Gaging interest in the public electronic game library

Hello to all, So a while back I mentioned something called the Electronic game public sound library in the favourite toys topic, and about a month later we are at a stage where we are happy to announce that the first version of the public library is now complete. If you would like to know more about the project, me and Zarvox have written a readme document that will be periodically updated the same time as the updates for the new sounds get added. We are still not sure how we are going to do updates, the first question to answer in fact is how are we going to host the thing to begin with. The library is currently 118MB in size. Here is a link to the readme file that has the information you will need to understand everything, please read it before asking any questions. There is more of this post after the link ends. https://www.dropbox.com/s/3gn03zbf30aqd … .html?dl=0As it stands, the public library, being only 118MB at the moment and not forseen to grow much more in the future, could just be hosted by Zarvox or me, on Google drive or something, but I would like a more permanent home to it. Once someone downloads an initial copy of the zip file, is there any chance they could help with hosting it somewhere else? My aim for this is so that other people who don't frequent the forum can also see it, there by getting to know more about electronic games. If anyone is interested in recieving the link to the first version, please let us know. Thanks for your time.

Re: Official Discord discussion topic

It's a bit more complicated than that. Basically you first have to add the app as a certified game if you are planning on streaming it more than once. Go to user settings/game activity to do that. Once you have added the game, it should be recognized when it is run, and under your user  you can see a button that says stream application name button. The streams only go through if the other people on the channel choose to listen to them, it is not forced. That's another thing to keep in mind.

Alternatives to BT Sync, any tips?

2020-05-22 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

Alternatives to BT Sync, any tips?

Hi, So me and zarvox have been using BT sync for like 4 years now, and it's really beginning to show it's age. Our problem is that we already have 6 or 7 users connected to a folder we are hosting, and certain people keep reintroducing deleted files or making conflicts without them knowing it. Also, Zarvox wants to have a size limit that covers all the folders he is syncing, some of which total over 50GB. So this means Dropbox and Google drive, and any other cloud storage option, especially one that doesn't integrate with Windows explorer, is out of the question. I would prefer a peer to peer connection be established without running through some kind of central thing first. A while back, we tried Syncthing, but the problem is the way Zarvox makes his folder tree is that every folder inside the rout has it's own key. So if he had to make 50 keys all over again, that would be a nightmare. But something close to Syncthing, is what we're really looking for. Maybe it will just have to come down to Syncthing in the end anyway, with it's user and key authentication stuff... We also considered a network drive or FTP, but the thing with that is, Zarvox, or whoever is hosting it, has to keep their computer on at all times just so you can access the folder's contents. That isn't a problem if we can get it to work, especially as some kind of backup solution. So, if there is anything you can suggest, please let us know. I feel like we should have moved to something else much earlier... Thanks for reading.

Re: favourite childhood toys

We have been working on the library for about five years now, and it's still being updated. I don't think it will ever be finished to be quite honest. My and Zarvox's problem is, how are we going to give access to it. None of us are capable of hosting a website, and the BT sync key we have been using is strictly private, so that's out of the question. For now I think we are going to have to stick with hosting the zip files on cloud services and giving links to them. If there is any better permanent solution we could use, especially if it has subdirectory support, that would be much better. The library currently contains the following series of games: Hasbro BopitMB Hasbro SimonHasbro bopit spinoffs such as Zing it, top it, nujam guitar, etcTiger brain gamesTiger other random games, such as the Harry Potter magic spell challenge wandMatelle Loopz series gamesWild planet hyper series gamesAdditionally there are a few other folders that contain the following things. Sample rate reduced version of some of the sounds to make them sound better, most of these are reduced to 11025 hz. Electronic game mechanics, like pressing buttons and flipping switches(needs updating)Foreign electronic game voices from games that don't speak english(Needs updating)LPC sample library containing files for the Speak series of games, as well as Electronic MiltonAn additional folder of misc electronic game samples from uncategorizable games, such as the Leepfrog Twist and shoutIf you have any suggestions on how we should give this out, or how we should structure the folder and it's subfolders, please let us know. We have a rough idea on how we are going to do it, based on the folder structure we have been using in our sync folder for years, and most of it is probably going to remane unchanged.

I don't plan on doing this very often, and using whatever I have,  through software is much easier to do. But thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Is it possible to monitor audio from two inputs at once in Reaper?

2020-04-15 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

Is it possible to monitor audio from two inputs at once in Reaper?

Hi, One of my upcoming projects is going to require me to monitor the recordings of two different input devices on my system. I looked this up on google, but couldn't find any info on how to do it, and of course the device tab in Reaper preferences only lets you choose one recording device at a time, no more than that. Btw So far I have only used Reaper to record my voice because I can monitor it and also because of the real time noise reduction that makes my mic sound much better, and sometimes I like to mess around with midi with the sample omatic 5000. That's about it. Most of the interface to me is confusing, so if there actually is a solution but it requires routing or something, I would like someone to explain this in a bit more detail, so I can follow along. I would really apreciate that. This does not mean that Reaper is the only option, though, I could use something else entirely, it's just I am comfortable with the record monitor going on from my microphone and don't want to remove noise after the recording ends. So if I need two programs to listen to the two input devices at the same time, one of which btw is a line input so it won't require noise reduction, then that could work, too. One last thing though, Virtual audio cable, which could also be a solution here, unfortunately doesn't install on my system, it says that some kind of security layer in the Bios is preventing it from installing the driver. I never got the hang of virtual audio cable anyway, so yeah, that is out of the question. So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: NVDA fun little issues

Hi, I would just like to point out that the third issue written in the first post is a little bit silly. I mean what do you expect from a screen curtain? Of course it's going to make OCR unusable. For me I was never sure if the projector thing that you access with windows plus P ever worked, so when I want to OCR something I just turn screen curtain off and then turn it back on again when I'm done. Simple as that. It's how the screen curtain works, not an issue or a bug. Also, the randomly opening windows when clicking links has something to do with the screen layout, I guess. Maximising the window usually helps in this situation. Also I have been using Chrome for quite a while and have been experiencing the issue described above, so I will definitly try out the beta. Is there anything I should be aware of? Any instabilities or other issues before I update?

Re: Is there anywhere specific I can post MML chiptunes besides youtube?

a quick clarification, The channels in order are, A: Pulse waveB: Pulse wavePulse wave forms can be either @0, @1, or @2. C: Triangle wave, volume command doesn't work on itD: Noise wave, @0 and @1 changes between normal noise and repetitive mettalic noiseE: DPCM file playback, I won't cover this here, Volume doesn't work here either. Also, for channels A, B, and D, the volume range is from 0, to 15, so you could have any number between that range, for example, 7 for half volume. Also, the note lengths are longer as you go downwards, meaning 4 is a quarter note, 2 is a half note that lasts twice as long, 8 is an eightth note that lasts half as long as a 4. I hope that makes sense. You can even have 16, 32, even 24 if you want tripletts. To enter a rest, use R, instead of cdefgab. Here is a quick bit of code I wrote a few months ago for a demonstration presentation I did about the topic. I got the phone in 2014, then I moved to at least two more 5S moddles because of battery problems, I still wish I knew what icloud backup was when my first phone died... Anyway, later I got an Iphone 6S for christmas of 2016, then that lasted me until the midle of 2019 when I got my iPhone 8. I am really thinking of getting an android device to play with, if I can, I am impressed at the Samsung Galaxy A20E that my mom recently got. I'm thinking of buying a Nokia 4.2, that should last me for the next few years in terms of software updates. Either that or a Pixel 3A if I can get enough money for it. Or a Motorola G series something. Not sure which one...

Re: Is there anywhere specific I can post MML chiptunes besides youtube?

It's not easy to generalise to some of these questions, I would need a bit more details on what exactly you would like, what kind of example would be enough to get you started. But I'll quickly talk about my setup, I know there are many other ways to make this kind of music but here's how I do it. So I make a document in notepad, with all the code in it, then once I want to test it, I save it as an MML file, then use CMD to move into the PPMCK folder, and run the command to compile my MML into an NSF. When the file is done compiling, I open it in Foobar2000, using the Game Emu player component, and listen to it, see how it sounds. When I'm ready to convert, I just use the builtin Convert dialog of Foobar2000and convert it to whatever format I want. As I said, you can use many other approaches, like different NSF players, or anything else, they probably also exist for Mac OS or Linux, although I never tried any of them. I know that you can also use MML to make music for other hardware as well, including the Commodore64, but I have never tried that either. I hope that helped at least a bit, and I would like more info on what kind of example you would like me to write that You can understand, because It's so hard to come up with something that is either too easy and too simple, or extremely hard to understand at first... The main thing about the NES hardware by default is that it has four channels, the first two are melody square wave channels, the third is the triangle channel, commonly used for bass, and the forth one is the noise channel commonly used for drums. Those are the limitations of the default NES hardware, there are some custom chips you can enable to add more channels but I haven't used many of them yet, I'm thinking about it though.

Sorry, you were a bit late in sending your post, or maybe I was too late looking at it, but I can't change what's been done, unfortunately. The files are all uploaded, and all of them have comments, but I didn't think to put youtube links in there. I hope you can find enjoyment out of the files themselves though. And thanks for telling me about this site again.

Re: Is there anywhere specific I can post MML chiptunes besides youtube?

Thanks for the link. I'll definitely take a look at this when I have enough time. Just to clear this up, I am using MML directly, just writing in notepad, and convert them to an NSF using PPMCK, so the convertingg to video or mp3 is only for those people who can't play the NSF format. So I have nSF of everything since that's the first way I can listen to my work, then get rid of the errors, make it sound good, and finally convert the finished product to an actual audio file such as  mp3. I hope that made sense.

Post10, I'll think about it, although it will take me a bit of time to come back to this since I'm a little busy at the moment, but I'll definitly consider it. Post8, is the link in post1 not working? Or do you want to get in touch with me so I can send the NSF files to you directly? I think that would be the easiest option.

Hi, do you have the bt sync key for that? Assuming there is someone still on there? Because I think downloading all of these individually isn't worth it. Unless the folder is absolutely huge which I doubt. If it's less than around  3gb I can handle it. Of course if there is no one in the piers list anymore that's fine, just curious.

My secondary computer I use for school work is a Macbook air 11inch 2015, with the same kind of config, a core I5, probably one of the older ones cince it's 2015, 8gb ram, and a 256gb ssd. Both of these are running the latest version of their respective systems. For backup purposes I have a Crutial SSd that is 500gb hooked up via a USB3 converter thingy. That's about it. I'm very happy with this setup and don't think I need much more power at all.

Re: Tales of the broken braille writer, our braille writer stories.

Back in second graid when i was in a school for the blind, we used brailers for everything, and of course there had to be someone messing with them almost every day. I distinctly remember one of the kids in my class ripping the little tape or wire that makes the carriage move. Needless to say, I was quite angry when I returned to find out that my brailler wasn't working. Not to say that I wasn't good at destroying them either, I loved making my writing uninteligible by writing letters too close together, when the carriage didn't move over a full character length. It was fun, but it didn't impress the teachers, of course. We must have gotten replacement braillers every month or so because of how many problems they always had, there was always something wrong with them. Fortunately the brailler I have at home still works perfectly, although I haven't used it in years.

Re: Is it normal for an Apple Watch to behave this way consistently?

Ok, thanks for the affirmation. I guessed this was the case, but I was just a little doubtful. At post2, this is not a bug. I wouldn't expect Apple to really care as much about the Watch's accessibility, at least not as much as IOS. And so that led to the fact that they don't want to change some core programming that has to do with the screen locking, so they left it the way everyone else, sighted people, are comfortable with it, after all they constantly look at the watch and since their wrist is raised, it's quite hard for them to lock the screen on accident, I would imagine. I could be wrong though. Point still stands, this is an intentional feature to save battery power, not a bug. I knew that all along but just wanted to clarify if every Apple watch model is this sensitive to movements.

Is it normal for an Apple Watch to behave this way consistently?

2020-01-23 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

Is it normal for an Apple Watch to behave this way consistently?

Hi, I kinda feel bad for posting this topic to be honest, because there are so many question topics in the off topic room already, but I've been wondering about this for a while, and I never got any straight answers. I didn't want to ask on Applevis because I'm not a really well known member on there at all, not that I am more of a member here but I just observe a lot more people on the AG forum than on Applevis. So if this is just supposed to be normal, please tell me. So, I've had an Apple watch since 2016, starting with a series 0, the original one, then I got a series 3 in on christmas of 2018. I've stuck with that one ever since. what I've noticed is that the Apple watch does the complete opposite of what I want it to do most of the time. By that I mean, it doesn't turn on when I want it to, and it keeps turning on when I don't want it to. here is what I have configured. i have the latest version of Watch OS, although I don't think that means anything. I have VO enabled, of course. I have the wake screen setting set to 70seconds, and the watch can wake up either on digital crown upwards, the buttons, or a single quick tap on the screen, not on wrist raise. Lets take a reoccurring example of something I do on my watch very often, checking notifications. The easiest way to do this is the following. Wake the watch up first, and on the watch face, hold your finger on the top of the screen and slide down, then lift your finger to open the notification center. Flick through them, then  once you're done, force touch on the screen and double tap the clear all button. ok, sounds simple enough. but what makes this harder is every so often the watch just likes to lock itself on its own. I'm aware that you can lock it manually by putting your palm over the screen. I'm not touching the screen, not moving my arm, anything. It just locks itself. This means that once I'm in the notification center, reading everything I've missed, a lot of the time I have to keep waking  the watch up and trying to read the same piece of text over and over till it finishes. Once I'm on the force touch screen with the clear all button, if the watch decides to lock itself there, I have to start the process all over again because the context menu  doesn't come back if I wake the watch up, it returns to the watch face. So I have to go back into the notification center, force touch to open up the menu, and hope that by the time I get there, it doesn't lock on me again. OK, this could be an over exaggeration, it happens about 50percent of the time I check my notifications. but all that time I could be using to just read them and constantly having to reread the same text is really starting to annoy me. So, question is, what is happening? What am I doing that makes it lock itself all the time? Am I wearing it wrong? Actually no I'm not because I tried wearing it upside down one time for a few minutes, didn't fix itself, and the activity and heart rate seam to be accurate, so wrist detection definitely works. Another question, for those of you on the Apple watch series 4 or series 5, does this happen on there as well? Is this normal behavior? Thanks.

Re: What's the Story Behind your Forum Username

Hi, In cases where they ask me for my real name during registration, I do use my real name, Evangelosz Nagy. But back in the day, or even now on a simple online game, the username Zseli stuck with me since the beginning. I don't even remember how it happened, I just know that my parents kept calling me that when I was very young, and the first user account on a computer I had was also labelled in the same way. I like this screen name, because it really doesn't ,mean anything, it actually means Jelly, but again, I have no idea why it stuck as much as it did. and it's short, which is a good thing if I just want to type it out quickly. Now, the question of pronunciation is a hard one, i've herd so many different ones over the years, some of them are quite weird. Microsoft Anna used to say zalai, ATNT natural voices I think said zayli, with an (A) ,no english voice can get it right. The ((ZS) at the beginning is actually supposed to be a (ZH) like sound, although I can't actually think of an english word that uses this phoneme off the top of my head. It's basically like (SH), but voiced with a 8Z). And then there were the misunderstandings, back when I was active on RS games or Quentin C, I would sometimes get things like, are you silly? or, even worse, Are you Sally? My gender is male, so that's a little weird to me, although I get why people may confuse it. Sometimes I also put the number 22 at the end of this name, which comes from my birthday. So if you see Zseli22, or Evangelosz Nagy, or some other variation there of, that's me.

Hi, In my specific case, although I also think more people would agree on this, you should have information on what operating system the software supports, what versions of the OS is it compatible with, and are there any differences with accessibility between the different versions or OS's. Also, if the software is for windows, maybe a tag for portable software you can run without installation would be nice. I hope this helps.

At post3 and4, Yeah, I tried VLC, but maybe I'm missing something here? How do you create a playlist? I can only open one file at a time using open in, from the files app, and I can't add them to a playlist. And even then, we are talking about like 30 or more files here. Adding each one on it's own gets really annoying and reppetitive. Also, using stuff like network sharing and such, is out of the question. Is there really something I'm missing here that could make it much easier?

Is there a way to easilly convert or play ogg files on an iPhone?

Hello everyone, One of my friends relies on his iPhone for almost everything, he just doesn't want to get into using a computer at all, which makes no sense to me but whatever. So since he doesn't want to use Windows, file management is really weird for him. I've been trying to find out how he can play Ogg files on his phone. Or better yet, convert them on his end to another format. Every audio player I tried so far has no way of quickly skimming through different files like previews in gold wave, and that would be really useful since the files he's trying to use are all about 300ms long, so just playing it once or taking too long to click the next file is just not going to work. And then I tried converting stuff. With the new files app it isn't that hard to organise stuff, and with safari on IOS13 you can also download files, which is cool, but there's one problem. Again, there are multiple files, all of them quite short, that he would want to convert. And when you open a browse dialogue with safari, there is no select button to select multiple items in, the cancel button replaces the part of the screen where the select button would be. So either, is there anything that can convert multiple at the same time and put it onto his phone in the same place or in icloud drive, or, is there any online service that will take a zip file and look inside of it, convert the files it finds and make a zip of the converted ones? Is that even a thing? I just wish he would try and use a computer because everything would be much simpler then, but until then, is there anything that could help?

One more thing that may be of note, not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I installed NVDA through a portable install with all my configuration and addons kept, by selecting install nVDA in the tools menu. Hi, Thanks for your quick responses. the specs that I remember off the top of my head are a Core I5 8265U, 8gb of ram and a 256gb SSD. Thank god I don't have to deal with mechanical hard drives any more. This laptop is a fearly recent Lenovo Ideapad, i'm not sure of the model number, with  a 14inch screen if that helps. As for performance, when I do manage to get into the task manager, I see that NVDA is not using that much out of the ordinary, so it's not anything abnormal in that regard. And for those who have the issue after something intensive, like 7zip archiving, it's unfortunately not just that. I could literally have started my computer a few minutes ago and already had to restart NVDA to get it to properly work again. My CPU could be at any level, even like 5% or something very low, it doesn't matter. And about the log. So all I do is change the loging info box to say debug, and when this occurs, does the log file get deleted after a restart? And where are they even stored in the first place? Maybe I should know this, it's just that I never had to send the log to anyone before. Edit, just realized that post 7 gave me the path to the log file and I didn't even notice. Thanks.

An inexplicable NVDA issue that is starting to drive me crazy

2019-12-05 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

An inexplicable NVDA issue that is starting to drive me crazy

Hello everyone, So migrating from windows 7 to windows 10 and a new computer was not bad at all, I got used to most of it pretty quickly, except for the start menu, I use Open shell for that. But anyway, one thing that my old computer never did to me, is the issue i'm about to describe. This has been happening with every version of windows 10 starting from 1809 all the way up to 1909, and I think it has something to do with windows10 itself. There are a few different triggers to making this happen. Triggers like pressing alt tab and switching to a different application, or pressing windows +M to go to the desktop, or any kind of window switching at all, even automatic, like when you open an application by pressing enter on it. What happens after this is the annoying part. Firstly NVDA's speech interrupt is broken. It reads everythingg from start  to end, and you can't press control to stop the speech either. The second thing is that any NVDA commands are simply ignored. This also means that text documents just freeze in place, along with webpages, and you can't read them at all. So, it doesn't seam like a big deal, does it? Well, restarting NVDA does solve the issue, but not for long. Sometimes I even had to restart NVDA once every minute just because I opened the windows 10 settings app or the task manager. In fact, the task manager always causes this to happen no matter what, as far as I could gather. So, obviously, I want to get rid of this. I don't like alternatives of just downgrading to an earlier version of NVDA like zarvox is doing, i just like my things up to date. I also especially like the new advanced browse mode system focus thing that got introduced in the newer versions of NVDA. I don't want to go back to the way it used to be, having to press down arrow many many more times than needed just to go down a webpage, but that's besides the point. I also tried disabling all the addons, and unfortunately it may have made it less frequent, but didn't make it go away completely. If I wanted to run a version of NVDA without any addons constantly, I would have to right click on the icon on the taskbar, remember, because the modifier doesn't work,  then select restart with addons disabled every time instead of just using ctrl+alt+N. I also tried using Narrator for a few things, and came to the conclusion that it's still not ready for day to day use, especially not when it comes to web browsing, although maybe that's because I wasn't using Microsoft edge... So, what can I try that may help besides what I already tried?

Re: How do I go about creating, editing or compressing soundfonts?

Hi, I tried testing out Polyphone v1.9, but there are a few problems I'm running into. First, sometimes the program just doesn't start. But more importantly, almost every time I try to change some setting in the settings dialog, like the buffer size for the audio, the program just crashes. Even more annoying is that I even tried reinstalling it completely and the settings are kept, and I can't find where they are stored so I can put them back to default values. So, now I'm a little screwed. Although I did try out bassmidi VST and it works beautifully, except for the drum channel 10 which doesn't work... I wonder why that is. Thanks for that suggestion.

Re: How do I go about creating, editing or compressing soundfonts?

Hi, Thanks for the suggestion. With my limited amount of testing time I confirmed that both of the versions, 2.1 or 1.9 for the mac are basically unusable. So I'll have to stick to Windows, but that's fine, just didn't have a lot of time to mess around with it so far. I hope that tree the Mac version keeps referring to is actually accessible in the windows version, allowinng me to check the individual instruments and such. by the way, just to make it a little clearer, I never had anything against other alternatives, like VST instruments, just haven't tried any of them. That doesn't mean I won't, just thought that soundfonts are still being used to a certain extent.

Re: How do I go about creating, editing or compressing soundfonts?

I never really got into any of the alternatives to sound fonts yet, I just thought this is still a relevant thing that people use. I visit this site from time to time called Musical Artifacts. A lot of the uploads on there are soundfonts compiled from different sets of samples. I would like to make a contribution to that site one day, by compiling something that isn't listed there, yet. Then there's my fascination of playing video game music as midi with a soundfont, where the auto generated fonts from programs like GBA Music ripper, or VGM Trans don't have any descriptive names for the instruments. Maybe one day I would like to use one of those instruments in a track of my own? I would have to rename the patches to find out which one I"m looking for. Also, I kinda forgot to say this in my first post, but all I can do for now is to play a midi using a soundfont, meaning I can't actually play all the patches individually. I mean I can play like 127 of them using QWS and Coolsoft Virtual midi synth, but if there's more then It just stops working. I get how every bank of midi instruments is 127, but changing the bank number doesn't work. Does it have to do with midi channels, then,

Re: Is it worth upgrading to iOS 13 yet?

As of my current experience, being IOS13.2.2, I would say go for it! I've been in the public beta cycle since the end of June, and I can comfortably recommend you upgrading. A very huge amount of bugs have been fixed since the original release. Same with battery life, although that depends on your device of course. But I can't see any draning problems right now. So yeah, I would say yes. But I leave it up to you if there's some other use case I haven't considered yet, or if there's anything else holding you back from updating.

How do I go about creating, editing or compressing soundfonts?

Hello everyone, I hope that I'm not repeating questions that other people have asked brfore. If so, I appologize. So we all know that the Microsoft GS wave table is really bad, and that soundfonts are very easy to find and play files with. Playing midi files, however, is not all I want to use them for. There are a few things I would like to achieve, but I don't know how to do them. Firstly, starting off by being able to edit an already existing soundfont. Then, I would like to try and create one of my own, one day. But that's for later. For now, I want to focus on just editing one. What is the most accessible way to do this? Is it a standalone program or Do I need something like Reaper for it? Note, I'm just getting started with Reaper so don't know very much about it, other than it's confusing as hell. One more question that just came to me, is it possible to use compressed files, like ogg inside a soundfont? If so, does that require a special program of any kind? Or is it not recommended to use files like these inside a soundfont? I'm just trying to save as much space as possible, that's why I'm asking.

Ok, sorry for this double post, but I just decided to check if there were any control panels I could use to change my mic settings, and turns out there is an app called the realtech audio consolle. I opened it, found the enhancements turn off checkbox, and boom! It sounds amazing now! It's just a shame how hard it was to find. but now it sounds great! And I did check direct sound on gold wave, it turns out to be working much better than Wasapi, from what I could tell. So thanks for the suggestions guys!

Thanks for your responses. At post 3, unfortunately the microphone has no enhancements tab whatsoever. Is there any way to make it appear or is there just no enhancements on it that I can configure? At post4, I'll try direct sound and see if it improves any, although I think it's the card itself, not Wasapi. I could be wrong though. And if push comes to shuv, what exactly do I need to do to uninstall the realtech audio driver and leave the stock windows one? I just don't want to mess something up, is why I'm asking.

What's going on with laptop audio these days?

Hello everyone, So I recently upgraded my laptop from an old HP elitebook to a more current Lenovo Ideapad with a core I5, 8gb of ram and a working SSD for once! My impressions have been really good for the most part, the performance is amazing, for my standards at least. But one thing I do have issues with, is one of the key points, that being the audio. There are two issues i'm having, one regarding output and one input, and I'm thinking they both have something to do with software, since Analog audio shouldn't behave this way. First, the input. Any microphones that are atatched to headphones I have plugged in, they work fine, however, the internal microphone sounds terrible! It sounds as if they specifically engineered it to only work for skype and that's it. And this is a local connection by listening to the device in the windows control panel. The advanced tab shows between 44100 hz and 48000hz, but none of them sound any different, it seams to roll off consistently at about 16000hz, and it also sounds like it's compressed in some way. Is this normal? Is it the actual quality of the mic or is it something that can be fixed with software? Second, the output issue. There is a slight, and I do mean slight, delay before the beginning and end of an audio stream. I noticed this while trimming audio in Gold wave, and when I passed the audio over to Zarvox, he said the trimming was terrible. There were clicks everywhere! Well, turns out that I simply can't hear them with this configuration. That extra 20ms of latency is making everything sound terrible if I don't compensate for it. Before I go any further, let me say that these are only minor, I can live with them, it's just so unusual having to deal with this type of stuff, every other computer I've used so far had absolutely no problems with audio whatsoever. So if it is completely unfixable, then that's not a deal braker. So, here are my questions. 1, I know for a fact that the driver this is using is Realtech HD. I've herd people getting rid of this driver successfully. Are any of these issues I described above fixable by installing a diferent audio driver? 2, I'm a little confused while looking for information on how exactly to uninstall this driver. If it indeed is possible to fix at least one of these, can you give me instructions on how to do it properly? And 3, One thing that this does have that I'm planning on using, is stereo mix. Is there a way to retain that option? Thanks for reading.

Re: NVDA, github and youtube

Hi, I will add that this is not an NVDA issue, it happens regularly on my Mac with Voiceover, the same thing happens as you describe in your post. Another thing that Youtube does that drives me insain that is very similar, is when I upload a video using my mac, it keeps telling me to click the publish button to publish this video, every like 3 seconds when I'm still writing the description. So I'm thinking this is a web accessibility thing, not an NVDA thing. Is there any way we can contact Youtube about this directly instead of tracking it as an NVDA issue?

My first version of IOS was v6. I'll always feel a bit nostalgit towards that version, with the slide to unlock thing, the Vocalizer Direct voices, I really miss those versions btw, and the crappy Siri where it had to echo back everything you said and a few seconds later it would just say, I don't know what that means. Those were the days! I got IOS6 by it's end though, and a few months later the modern IOS7 was on my device. I didn't have access to an old device since then, but I'm considering downgrading my jailbroken Ipad mini1st gen from IOS9.3.5 to IOS6. After all, it has really just been collecting dust for the past few months, why not mess around with it for a while, relive the summer of 2013 again...

Re: Concerning natural voices and exclamation marks

Victoria is based on the macintalk engine along with Fred and Alex, so it does! Inflect on exclamation marks, although very slightly. Also, if you want to go really crazy, you can actually control the emphasis and program your own speech patterns, at least if you are using VO on the iPhone, not when using VO on the mac, the commands don't work there. This is another reason why I use vocalizer or Siri voices less often, because of how much customizability you can do with those voices. And dectalk, although quite old, does sound very natural inerms of it's inflection, I have to agreen on that. Although I haven't used it myself for long, just for a few minutes, a couple of years back.

Re: Concerning natural voices and exclamation marks

hello. I would like to chime in and talk about my preferences, on Windows I can use eloquence or Espeak interchangeably,  sometimes depending on the language. I've gotten used to them over the past few years, and they work fine for normal reading. on the respective side, though, on the iPhone I have a huge list of languages configured, and I sometimes like to see what particular voices sound like, but in day-to-day use, I use Victoria as my main voice. she seems to be the balance between Alex who is very large in comparison,  and Fred home I just can't deal with for some reason. on the Macintosh I do use Alex most of the time, because I want to differentiate my different devices in one Way Or Another. I find the Macintalk voices very understandable even at fast speech rates, and I love their sentence processing capabilities, that more natural sounding voices just don't have. so for me on the iPhone it's a win-win situation. I use a voice that is much smaller than most of the other ones , and she sounds very good.   I can understand her at the relative speech rate of 100%. if I do use natural sounding voices, it's only to test them out for a short period of time. I have a lot of them just laying around,  especially some of the older sapi5 voices, but very often I have to switch back to eloquence because of how weird they sound in almost any context. I do have to use them sometimes, like on my Apple watch for example, where no other options are present , and I stuck with Karen a lot during iOS7 or so. in most cases, it's fine, it's just if you have better options, take advantage of them, I say. there is two things I don't get. first, why do compact versions of vocalizer Voices , or other hmm based voices not include exclamation  functionality? it's capable of doing it  so why doesn't it? this applies to the Google TTS engine that I sometimes hear on Android devices, although I don't have one myself, but they don't even take commas or question marks into account at all, they say everything as if it was a statement . and secondly, some vocalizer voices are able to make some kind of question, while others don't have the ability to even inflect differently not just on questions , but on commas too. the availability of these types of inflections seems to be completely random,  depending on which voice you decide to use. why can't they just make everything the same way ? And yeah, about Truevoice inflecting really weird, I have to agree on that, it's funny. And Microsoft tried to do some pretty interesting sentence processing with their Sapi5 voices back in the Windows XP days, I find those more annoying than funny to be honest. Speaking of which, Microsoft's one core voices are also HMM based and they do the same not inflecting on exclamations thing. I mean come on!

Hi. I've been meaning to try out android for quite a while, to see how accessibility has changed over the years. I've always been an iPhone guy so never really experienced it on my own, just from other family member's phones. But I thought getting a VM would be a good idea. Well, I have a problem. In the VM that Eurpod.net hosts for android9, almost every time I try to press various things like alt+enter to activate an item, I get beeps instead. The readme says to press alt+f7, which I do and it lets me do maybe one keystroke untill it starts beeping again. It's basically unusable this way. Do you have any ideas as to why this is happening? Is it because I'm running it on a mac with Vmware Fusion? Do I need to run this on windows instead? Or am I not understanding something correctly? Thanks.

Your thoughts about the Taptic engine in newer iPhones

2019-08-20 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : zseli via Audiogames-reflector

Your thoughts about the Taptic engine in newer iPhones

Hi, I hope this discussion can form around one of the few points I have written down, and if it’s around the later ones, I hope that I’m not posting this in the wrong room. About two months ago, I got the chance to upgrade my iPhone, and I got an iPhone 8, replacing my 6S. I’ve recently been thinking, though, about what really changed, besides just having software updates for a few more years and a faster processor. I have kinda started taking the taptic engine for granted. It has become a part of the experience of using my phone. I love how I get little clicks when doing certain actions, something as simple as activating a switch button, or typing on the keyboard. And lets not forget the home button itself. Thanks to IOS13 beta, I also get to experience what VO is capable of doing with the taptic engine. I especially love how VO can stop annoying me by ducking the audio of anything currently playing while Safari is loading a page, and continuously duckin and unducking it every second or so, because of the looping click sound that tells me if a page is loading. Now I just, quote on quote, feel, the page being loaded. Unfortunately, all these things are a part of Apple, all first party things. It’s a completely different story when it comes to apps downloaded from the app store. There are a few apps that do make use of the taptic engine in little suttle ways, like Youtube tapping you when all the content on a page has finished loading, little minor things like that. And there are apps that allow you to test the engine by  making clicking patterns when you press buttons. But I thought when I first herd of this back in 2016 with the iPhone7, that developers are going to make use of this in a more engaging way. I’m asking, is there any app that does use the taptic engine in such a way? More specifically I’m thinking of games. My first thought was Blackbox, and that was my only thought that has occured to me thus far. Blackbox did use it quite well, although I have beaten most of the challenges on my iPhone6S beforehand so there was no real excitement to it, just a bit of added depth. Actually, another game I can think of is Dusc, but the vibrations it uses can be felt in the same way with the 6S than with the 8, and quite frankly I don’t understand some of those minigames to begin with. That’s all I could come up with. Do you know of anything else that uses the taptic engine somewhat like this? My other question would be, why, then? Like, is it really hard to implement? Have developers just not been able to use it because of how hard it is to use? Or they want to use patterns that are not preprogrammed by Apple? I’m not actually sure on how to program the vibration motor so I may be saying nonsense here… Or, on the other hand, do a lot of people consider it nothing more than a gimic and just writing it off as something only Apple is really trying to push? I think this is the perfect time for more apps to begin using this stuff, because most people who buy iPhones nowadays have no choice but to buy one with the taptic engine abord, like me. What do you think? Thanks for reading.

Post 3 and 4, there are a few guides that I used to get myself aquainted, one  of them  is on the forum somewhere, but I can't find it. The other one is on this link. https://woolyss.com/chipmusic/chipmusic … _guide.phpTo get started, all you need is the PPMCK compiler, that you can just google search for, a text editor like notepad, and the windows command line, and software to play back your file once it's created. I use foobar 2000's Game emu player for this. Post 2, I saw 2a03.fr, but I couldn't get past the captcha. Post 5, I convert my nsf to an mp3 and then to an avi, is how I upload them to youtube, with a completely empty image. It doesn't matter and everything works fine. Although I'm basically getting the same success as you have been getting with soundcloud...

Hi, So I started learning MML in november, it's my way of thinking that it's a programming language that I can finally understand, although it's made to make music instead of games. But I've made a few tracks over the past few months, focusing on remixing existing game music, with the limitations of the NES's capabilities.  I'm planning on remixing tracks from more audiogames as well, since the first track I posted to youtube was a remix of Windsorhowl from Time Crest2, (not sure what the original track is from...)Some of my friends know about this and Zarvox even used that Windsorhowl track I created inside one of his projects, but I would like to improve as time goes on, and I don't think many people know that I even exist in terms of MML. So I'm asking if there's any spacific site that I can post these to that focuses on this kind of stuff? Here is the link to my playlist of currently posted tracks on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P … KvMHExpD_PThanks.

Re: How to stream audio from IPad to pc?

Hi, There are a few things you can do. One of them is using quick time on the mac, but since I'm not sure if you have a mac or not, I won't get into any detail about that. You can use the audio cable with two headphone plugs, although you need a microphone port on your computer for this to work, or something that can act as a middle point giving access to the iPad audio, in my case my Yamaha keyboard has an auxiliary input jack and I plug one end of that into the keyboard, the other end into the iPad, then connect the keyboard up through USB, making all of the sound coming through also go to the pc as well as the keyboard. That's the way I have to do it. If you do have something like this, to actually hear your iPad, you have to monitor the input of the device you have it plugged into, or else you will hear nothing. That's very important. And finally you can also use bluetooth, if you connect your computer to your iPad that way, but it's quite laggy, and not recommended for recording audio games at all. Although on second thought, quick time on the mac is also laggy in the same way. I hope some of that helped.

Re: Tips on using lyrebird?

Hi. I have done this a few times before, so I'll give you a few tips. As other people have sayed before me, the button after the sentence is the record button. You have to click it once to start, then click it again when you are done. There is no indication of you clicking it though. I recommend using headphones for this, in case you wanna read he sentence and pause with shift so you can read it as you are hearing it, if the sentence is too long to memorize. I do that, not sure if anyo e else does. And I hope that the recording device issue can be sorted out. But after that, you go down to the table, and every time you finish the recording, there is a row on there that sais validating. If you are OK with what you recorded just now, just wait till that text sais ready instead of validating. Then you can continue with the next sentence. If you are not happy with your results and wanna do it again, you have to first click one of the unlabeled buttons on that row, it's probably the only unlabeled button. The way you know you clicked it is when you go back to where the sentence was, it goes back to the sentence you just recorded, so you can do it again, instead of the next sentence in line. Keep clicking buttons until that happens. Then, once the recording sais not valid, or any time when it sais not valid for that matter, the last button on the row is the delete button. When you are playing back clips you have made with your voice, there is the play button before the text you entered to be spoken, then a share, download, and delete button, from what I remember. I could be wrong on that. You can't download your recordings, just the stuff you told it to say once your voice has been created. I hope some of that helped.

Re: How do I rid myself of mcAfee once and for all

Hi. i know this is getting off topic, but while post 30 mentioned Kasperski, I have to agree on that. I have to use it all the time, been using it for like 3 years now, and it's reeally annoying! Now my licence has expired so I don't have to worry about games being randomly uninstalled, but while it was active ,you turned your internet on? Boom! A bunch of BGT games, gone! ANd you can't exclude them either, not even with sighted assistance. They just come back right up! But, even with the licence expired, this thing does one more annoying trick that drives me crazy! I try to open something normal, like Gold wave, or Team viewer, or something, and Kasperski intersepts it with a stupid alert window, causing the program I opened to hang. Apparently it's to stop unwanted activity like audio or video getting through, but all it really does is make everything a gamble if it's going to run or not.  You have to click allow on every single one of these windows every time. There's even a Don't ask me again checkbox, but it doesn't work!  And sometimes, very rarely, the alert window doesn't even show up on the screen with Alt Tab, making the program I just opened completely useless. So yes, Kasperski is quite annoying.

Re: A good program to record gameplay only in audio format

If you're recording software supports loopback, as in recording the sound of your speakers or headphones into audio, then use headphones, and going to the sound settings in the control panel, select your microphone, press properties on it, and go to   The listen tab, check the listings of this device check box, press reply, and you should hear yourself. It is a bit distracting, and it's a little hard to get used to at first, but this is what I use. If you don't have loopback, I don't know what you can do.My computer apparently  has stereo mix on it, but every time I try to record with stereo mix settings on, it gives me errors. And I don't really know what the point of stereo mix was in the first place anyway, so that is why I use this.Hope that helps.

I've been using iOS since number six, and it felt so natural to me, I didn't even notice this. As far as I know, I don't think there's an option to turn this off. You can only show or hide items that appear on it, and that's basically all you can do. So, I think that the answer to this is in no

Re: Has anyone used the Handheld Braille Labeler from braillebookstore?

Hi. I used to have one of these labeler things, the same as the other posters had. It had a wheel witch you had to turn to find the rite character, and there was a little indent in one part of hte wheel that indicated that the character above that is the one that you are going to type. I tried using it once, but after a few weeks latr tha labels came off. and also, i noticed the same as cae, that you had to have a space or two before pulling i out. Oh, and i must also mention that there was one similar to this but in tactile actuall letters. It was smaller but you didnt know what you were writing if you were blind so i used the braille one. The part where you had to cut th label off, well... The sighted one had a cut character, but the braillle fifnt. You had to hold down on the space and very forcefully pull it out!
