Yahoo! Found my grandfather's passport information. It verifies what my
father always said that he was from Sao Mateus, Graciosa! He left from
Angra and came through New York at the age of 11! Settled in Lawrence,
Mass. Doesn't look like he traveled with his parents though - so more
unanswered

Since there are about 300 images and 1899 is in the middle, I clicked on
image 150. I wasn't in 1899. So I

I found the ship manifest and he is listed as Franco de Sensa Rosa age 11.
When looking at writing, I'm almost sure Sensa is Sousa. He was born Oct.
1887, so age fits. Shows leaving from Terceira. So I will search
Unless "Sul" is Luz. Fenais da Luz but that's Sao Miguel island, not
Graciosa.
Did you DNA test and are you matching S.Miguel people or Graciosa people?
