That's correct. You can use jl_cmder and choose the factory default option, that will get rid of it. I believe OS 4.3 is the minimum required for that to work. Some of the settings will stay, still password protected for example, but they can then be changed.

The rule used to be 100 meg for the base database and 1 meg per user. I think it's changed a bit in 5, but not sure of the hard rule. We have about 300 users, and the database is 500 meg. Even with 1100 users, your SQL database likely will be one of the smaller ones your SQL team deals with.

I believe all you need to do is block RIM's servers on your firewall from inbound initiated. The IPs are the same as for BES I believe, but since BES is outbound initiated only, blocking inbound initiated won't affect BES. These are the addresses:
