how it would work, but hoping maybe there is a template (especially for the

[cisco-voip] COBRAS Migration from 1.2 to 11.5..

2017-02-03 Thread Matthew Loraditch
So apparently Cobras IMPORT latest version won't import 1.2 files. It says to
use an older version but from where can I get that? Then the next question is
what version of Unity Connection must I import it to? I'd imagine older
versions of COBRAS won't work with 11.

[cisco-voip] Need COBRAS Imports for Unity Connection from 2010 or earlier

2017-02-06 Thread Matthew Loraditch
Folks,
In Desperate need of the above. Talked to Jeff Lindborg and he is not sure he
has them anymore... migrating a dinosaur 1.2 system. Per Jeff the last code
that would have for sure supported it was in 2010. From the release notes I can
see 1.1.193 was the last update the had a fix related to 1.2 so that version or
older would work.
If you can help, I owe you!

Re: [cisco-voip] Need COBRAS Imports for Unity Connection from 2010 or earlier

2017-02-06 Thread Matthew Loraditch
Lelio saved the day!

FWIW some Tidbits I got from Jeff Lindborg today:

Some Cobras History:
Digging around, any version of COBRAS Import after Feb of 2011 requires version
30 of the MDB file definition - many tables and items added for routing rules,
schedules, alternate contact numbers and the like were tucked into that version
which required a major rework. You're 1.2 backup is rev 21 of the MDB
definition from early 2010.

And good info on if Cobras didn't barf you are good, no matter what versions
you are crossing (I used Lelio's ancient version to import into 10.5 with no
errors):
If it didn't spit out errors you're ok - everything COBRAS does uses stored
procedures on the target Connection server - it never ever inserts data
manually or in row updates or the like - so the local version you're installing
to has control over if it likes the data and the framework, not COBRAS. That's
by design - all the foreign key constraints and data value checks are done in
the stored procs (which is what the web interface for Connection uses as well).
You lose speed that way but gain safety.

Hi Everyone,

Quick question on LDAP synchronization.
We currently have CUCM and CUC version 10.5, both syncing via LDAP.
What I'd like to know is if there's a way to sync the PIN number via LDAP?
I know that you can sync the PIN between CUCM and CUC in version 11.5, but as
we already carry a PIN for other services, I'd like it's sync'd via LDAP.

Thanks in advance,
Hefin

Dear Group,

I'm trying to enable SSO for Expressway MRA setup based on this documentation:
https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/expressway/config_guide/X8-9/Mobile-Remote-Access-via-Expressway-Deployment-Guide-X8-9.pdf

For IdP we're using AD FS 3.0 and what I'm really interested is in part on page
43 (Active Directory Federation Services 2.0) - unfortunately no success so far.

So here questions:

1) Does anyone have working solution with AD FS ?

2) Does it require same Custom Rules as for CUCM ?
c:[Type ==

Screenshots from working setup (AD FS rules) would be nice (can be private if
can't be send to group)

Hope someone have it working :)

Many thanks,

Good question - I'll be watching for replies.

In our location, we have some people with admin privileges, some without. We
also have some people on centralized desktop management, some with local IT
admins helping out. Some people have neither and are responsible for their own
machines.

So right now, when we move to the automatic updates, we're going to have to
make sure those on centralized desktop management have their versions upgraded
first, and then we can update the URL to include the latest copy.

My worry is - if the URL is there from the beginning and the centralized
upgrades happen and their version doesn't match the upgrade url , but is higher
in version number, will that "pass" the test? Or will the upgrade URL try to
downgrade those users?

Ugh.

Both clusters are LDAP/ADFS-SSO integrated, all users are on the same AD domain
with the same UPN (@customer.com<http://customer.com>). MRA is not in the
picture.

Directory URI is set to Email Address. IM Address Scheme is the same as email
as well.

We’ve never done something like this before, is there a way to make this work
w/o having folks have different IM schemes between the clusters?

Important Notice

In alignment with Apple's changes to the iOS notification architecture, Cisco
Jabber is in the process of implementing Apple Push Notification support for
notifications. We highly recommend that customers upgrade Cisco Unified
Communications Manager, IM and Presence Service, Cisco Expressway, and Cisco
Jabber before September 2017. Failure to upgrade in a timely manner will result
in loss of voice, video, and IM notifications for Jabber iOS users.

IOS Push Notification support for Cisco Jabber will be delivered in phases.
Phase 1 is for IM only, phase 2 adds push notification support for voice and
video calls.

Phase 1 Version Requirements

· Cisco Unified Communications Manager and IM and Presence Service
11.5(1)SU2, available Jan 23, 2017

· Cisco Jabber 11.8.1, available Feb. 06, 2017

· Cisco Expressway X8.9.1, available Jan. 30, 2017

· Cisco Communications Manager to register and stay connected to Cisco
Collaboration Cloud

What to Expect Next

Phase 2 will complete the updates for Push Notifications for voice and video
calls in Jabber for iOS mid CY 2017. Upgrades to Cisco Unified Communications
Manager, IM and Presence Service, Cisco Jabber, and Cisco Expressway will be
required. Details around Phase 2 software versions will be published as part of
the Phase 2 availability announcement.

I do appreciate the follow up, but I have a bone to pick here...actually, a
few. First, I was not in a situation where datasources were pointing at each
other, I did have them pointing to a single node. And that's where failover
failed me. I had both nodes pointing at the default Node 1, which was my
Master, and when failover happened, reporting was down.

1) Where in the documentation does it say to reconfigure the datasource to
point to the non-master node when deploying HA?

2) Why doesn't it configure itself?

3) Why doesn't it update itself like LiveData does?

4) Why can't we use the secondary source tab to populate both nodes?

5) What if I don't want all my reporting traffic traversing the WAN in HAoW
deployments? I.e., My Mast is located where most of my Agent and Supervisors
are, and I want reporting to stay local to them. The HA node is there just in
case of a datacenter failure.

Hi guys,

So, here is the expected behavior and we are taking 11.5 as reference:

Historical datasource:

The historical datasource on either node should always point to the non-master
Node. So, assume N1 is the master. CUIC on N1 should be pointing to N2
datasource host and CUIC on N2 should be pointing to N2 datasource host. Also,
unlike older versions we don’t redirect users to the secondary UCCX IP to login
to run reports. You can login to any node CUIC and run the report, but the
datsource host should be the secondary server.
However, we have seen cases where the nodes point to each other: N1 pointing to
N2 (expected), N2 pointing to N1 (problem). This is opened as a defect and we
are investigating why this can happen and I am guessing that’s what has
happened in Anthony’s case in the original email thread.

CSCvd22513 is the defectID for your reference. I will share more information on
the outcome of the investigation.

LiveData:

This is always pointing to the local node by default and need not be changed.
The LD datasource uses REST API to figure out the engine master and will obtain
the feed from the current active server. The LD failover too should happen
automatically. So if the engine failover happens and you are still logged into
N1 (slave now), LD should still be available and usable.

True, no avoiding the hard cost of the phones, but we have clients that would
spend almost as much as the phone on services to replace the phone, so that
would be £3 million ;)

My guess is because of SLED and GOV. The 40s and 60s were nearly indestructible
tanks with many still running. Cisco maybe giving them a longer shelf life to
make the CapEx burden for new handsets easier to spread by slowly transitioning
those models.

I wouldn't count on them being around forever or much longer though :).

I find less than the license usage tab, checking the chart tab is more useful
when trying to figure out oversubscription.

Also, I’ve run into an issue in the past of something really stupid – while
CUWLs are a single purchase, it is possible to only install half of the
license, and they’re allocated separately. See below for what should show in
your ELM. When I came into ownership of this domain, I actually had 75 of my
CUWLs that were installed as only the CUWL Standard line, and were missing the
messaging portion.

For us, it's the license pooling that is of benefit. Spare licenses can be used
to quickly spin up a lab cluster for testing, etc.

I have removed all of the standalone PLM/ELMs from my customers. It just
didn't make sense to have to worry about another box. I never found a use case
that having a separate box actually made a difference.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to look at the CLI scheduling options.

I see that it's going away in v12 (smart only) but we'll be on v11 for the next
couple of years at least. So I'd like to see this working. We'll have to watch
out for server restarts. I have a script that checks for daily backups so that
would theoretically catch it.

You can schedule it from the CLI but I find that restarting this machine in the
past has turned this backup off, and I would have to go reschedule it and turn
it on.

If you're using it for usage reporting this is probably more concerning than if
it is just providing licensing. Since we don't often issue new licenses out
into our system the "restore" would just be missing that usage data but would
be fine to restore licensing should we have to rebuild this machine.
(Standalone PLM).

Supposedly it is gone after 11.5 anyways so I am not too concerned about it.
I don't know how the "satellite" works at this point to tell if it is just the
same thing as PLM again or not.

Yes ? we?re looking at a stand alone PLM. We have multiple voicemail and cucm
clusters and liked the idea of separate xLMs.

In the GUI, I just have backup/restore. That?s it. No devices, no schedules,
nothing. Not even # of copies to keep. Docs say that?s limited to 2.

Are you dealing with a standalone PLM? If it's co-res, you'd just backup the
PLM feature in the normal CUCM DRS.

For standalone, you should be able to use all the normal CLI DRS utilities (or
activate the CUCM application for the purpose of accessing DRS).

Thanks,

Ryan

While I can appreciate not much changing in the licensing manager, it?s still a

this.

Any ideas as to why this happened?

I'd personally say anything 8.8+ is good 2 go and it's mostly still just the
Jabber stuff that doesn't work over MRA (which is documented).

Subject: [cisco-voip] which esxi to grab for BE7K ?

I purchased a BE7K for third party apps, I also purchased ESXi v6.0 standard
through the data centre SKU.

Just wondering... Best to download one of the custom ISO images?

https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=ESXI65U1&productId=614&rPId=17521#custom_iso

should I go with 6.5 GA (2017-05-04) -or- 6.5.0d (2017-06-15) ??

The custom images just include vendor specific drivers that aren't built into
base VMWare. The BE7K doesn't need any of those from what I know.

I'll have to reach out to the vendor to see what they like better, v6.0 or v6.5
. I won't be installing any Cisco apps on these servers (just yet).

Still not clear on whether to get the custom image though...

No release notes on the VMware site.

6.5 is not certified for Collab yet, you need to install 6.0. I've never
needed to use the custom ISO as the collab servers don't have any special
hardware in them but it won't hurt.

Re: [cisco-voip] Moving publisher role to subscriber?

2017-08-21 Thread Matthew Loraditch
You should be able to just DRF restore onto a new VM? Or do you want fresh? If
this is IM&P, I think you can just rehome all the users, break redundancy and
then add the new server in when ready and rebalance, but I've never done that
so perhaps someone else will chime in.

I'm having an issue with an old 9.x cluster where I have two units, one on an
old MCS physical server, the other virtualized. I have issues on a monthly
basis with the MCS server, where it will freeze up, stop service presence
statuses, etc. Is there any way that I can fail services to have the virtual
server be the publisher, so that I can create a new virtual IMP host to replace
the MCS and remove it from the cluster? Preferably, with the ability to fail
back to the new IMP server as publisher when I'm done. I'm not finding anything
on this on Cisco's website other than directions to remove/restore a CUCM
publisher.

Re: [cisco-voip] UCM Upgrade Poll

2017-08-23 Thread Matthew Loraditch
I've had a bug once or twice, so 10% maybe??

We have very simple installs, no clusters more than 2 servers, no user bases
more than a 1000, and nothing more sophisticated added other than CCX or CUACA.
We upgrade internally to the latest version first, but outside of a quick
release notes reading and verification of compatibility it's not a lot of prep,
maybe 30 minutes to an hour. Albeit, I usually am following along in the
communities for the betas and various partner and CCP webcasts so I'm aware of
any big changes/caveats ahead of time (like the end of support phone models,
etc)

Quick 2 question poll, feel free to unicast or share your response with the
group.

1. When you or your customers have a UCM or IMP upgrade fail, what percentage
of failures are due to a bug vs something in the environment (user error, db
updates, etc)?
% bug:
% not a bug:
Yes it’s a very subjective question but that’s ok, use your judgement.

2. When an upgrade goes smoothly with no issues, how much time do you put into
the planning and preparation for the upgrade (not the execution)?

Thanks,

The very last item in the SU3 release notes mentions some new datatype values
for MSSQL. This is not something I'm well-versed in, but could this be related
to the errors you are seeing? The document mentioned on Database Setup doesn't
seem to be published in an SU3-specific format as suggested. In any case,
consulting TAC on this problem is a great place to start.

Ah - glad you found that guide which I couldn't for some reason. At first
glance, that seems likely to be your fix. Agreed - that script seems like the
kind of thing that should be published in the UTILS area of the IM&P 11.5

You can use self-signed certificates now instead with the command-line tools.
There's still some hardware tokens if you'd rather have something physical
rather than worrying about backing up the certificates.

You can just run "utils ctl set-cluster mixed-mode" and then restart
CallManager/TFTP on all nodes if you want to use self-signed certs.

I haven't seen it mentioned before, but I feel like it's a common thing to go
through an audit old phones in the environment, but other than looking through
lists of terminated users and cross referencing active users, I can't think of
any good way to audit phones to see if they're alive anymore, especially with
softphones.

In AD I would just pull a report with powershell of users/computers not logged
in for >90 days, is there any comparable option in CUCM for inactive phones
that you could audit against? Like last registration date or some such?

Subject: [cisco-voip] Inactive Device Query?

I haven't seen it mentioned before, but I feel like it's a common thing to go
through an audit old phones in the environment, but other than looking through
lists of terminated users and cross referencing active users, I can't think of
any good way to audit phones to see if they're alive anymore, especially with
softphones.

In AD I would just pull a report with powershell of users/computers not logged
in for >90 days, is there any comparable option in CUCM for inactive phones
that you could audit against? Like last registration date or some such?

BE6Ks as a sku is done.

That’d be an option for sure, but not exactly the cleanest for a facility that
you just want the “store in a box” as Chris says. There was an old organization
I did work for that at their smaller locations just used 3 FXOs for all their

Sounds like the only ones left out are the little guys with FXO/S and E&M

very interesting product, and I’d like to see what Cisco does with it, since 12

app is running in the background?

We only have a handful of users using Jabber on Iphone/ipad so we didnt see the

Yesterday, I upgraded to IOS11 (iphone/ipad) and my jabber still works exactly
as it did before?

The spill i read and was told below.

-Jabber to no longer run in background for an extended period
-Jabber terminated if not running in foreground after some time

Can anyone shed a light on this? Have i missed something?

passphrase ending in '03'.

Before I post a web page or utility for this, I'd like to test it out with
other versions. If you have lab environment and wouldn't mind helping out,
enable remote support and send me the passphrase (along with source
product/version) off list. I'll reply back with the decoded password.

Thanks to everyone who responded. The routine is now compatible with decoder
versions 1, 2 and 3. So far it has worked with every passphrase tested from
8.5 up to 12.

You can decode your own passphrases at the following address. This should go
without saying, but if you root a production box, TAC can review the logs and
refuse to support it. This is meant for lab use. Use at your own risk.

Chris,

I understand and respect your position on this. I agree that allowing root
access to any machine is akin to giving someone a loaded gun to kill their
system. Obtaining root access not blessed by TAC would invalidate any support
agreements for a host.

That being said, it's very frustrating when you know TAC has the ability to
assist in a situation but policy prevents it. A perfect example is UC admins
who work in an environment where the cluster security password has been lost
over time. Yes, you're an admin and yes, it's technically possible to actually
retrieve the cluster security password. But the official position is no; you
have to reset it and take an outage on every host in your cluster. With root
access, it takes less than 5 minutes to SSH into a UCOS host, download the
platformConfig.xml and decode the cluster security password.

It gets worse in DR situations. In the last two months I've received requests
for help from a couple UC admins affected by recent hurricanes. One of them
was running CUCM 8.6 and it was technically possible to modify the XML and do a
DRS restore without knowing the previous cluster security password. TAC's
response? Sorry, can't help. Even though Cisco had a backdoor in the backups
for years and could have helped restore, they would not use it to assist a
customer whose primary datacenter was knocked offline.

Besides, anyone with admin level rights to a host (or the hypervisor) has de
facto root access. As we've all seen, a quick Google search shows that rooting
a UCOS host is a trivial matter if you have access to the hypervisor. The only
real difference here is that this method requires rights within the application
to enable the root access.

Aside from being useful in lab environments, this route provides a last ditch
resort where the cluster is out of support or TAC cannot assist due to policy
constraints. And I say policy constraints because I know for a fact they have
capabilities they don't employ for customers. At one time, nearly 10% my tool
downloads (DRS Backup Decrypter, PlatformConfig Decrypter, etc.) came from
Cisco's own IP addresses.

So while I do agree with you when it comes to the potential harm this could
cause, I would respectfully disagree on whether or not the benefit outweighs
the risk.

As a Cisco employee, I would ask that you not publish such a tool. It's
dangerous and will probably create more problems than you are trying to solve.
Obviously, I have no authority to stop you but I have forwarded the message to
the product team to ask them to re-evaluate the algorithm they are using to
make sure this account password process remains a Cisco-only process.

2017-11-14 Thread Matthew Loraditch
For the first two no, for the last three if they are using DNS on those things
then yes you will need to update them. For the gateways, look at your
MGCP/SCCP/CCM-Manager configs if they have hostnames in them and/or a sh
ccm-manager shows hostnames, you will need to update for sure.

For the handsets that would go along with DHCP, DHCP would be handing out DNS,
if you can run both DNSs in parallel for a bit you can just update the scope
and all will get it at the next lease update. If not you'd want to schedule a
reset in order to force them to pull the new data.

software is really quote magical. I'm sure Stephen Welsh would be glad to show
you a demo. It was being given away for free once you got past a certain amount
of phone trade-ins but I can't find the current docs on that right now. Either
way, well worth it.

Subject: [cisco-voip] Phone equipment refresh?

We are currently at CUCM 11.5.

We will soon be able to provide Gig to desktop but our current phones will
prevent us from doing so. We need to devise a
plan and wondered what others do for their equipment.

The majority of phones we have are 7900 series. They are working well for the
most part so we replace as needed.
We are concerned that the 7900 series may be eliminated from a future CUCM
version and prevent us from upgrading.

Does anyone have a plan for a refresh on Cisco VoIP phones?

Do you lease or did you purchase?

We appreciate any information you can offer.

Thank you.

Yeah that would do it. I found an example on the cisco forums of a scripting
setup that should work.

Looking forward to the quote reaction. You need 20 of these (they want one on
each desk!!) and a drop for each plus a switch because of the number of new
drops. Because ringing, finesse, and jabber flashing aren’t enough.

Like a SIP Strobe?
http://www.cyberdata.net/voip/011376/

Just use a Place Call step in the script when a call hits the queue.

Might require some external scripting if you need it to keep flashing until the
queue is empty.

Matthew, while I haven't personally tested this, I believe if you configure the
Time Zone for the Call Handler to America/Phoenix, it should follow the
daylight savings conventions used in that geography. If they don't use daylight
savings there, then the schedule you set should always be correct without the
need for manual intervention twice a year. Because you've unchecked "Use System
Default Time Zone" which I assume you have set to something like
America/New_York.

written fairly broadly as to who is responsible. I’d imagine there will be a

Here’s the whole thing:

Seems like there's two key aspects we need to be concerned with. 1) As I think
Matthew is pointing out, notifications are only required if notifications are a
native feature available "without improvement", i.e. add-on components. 2) We
now MUST configure direct 911 access without regard to customer complaints or
PSAP complaints about accidental 911 calls.

To answer your question Matthew, I have only ever used CER and Singlewire for
notifications, sorry I can't provide more feedback.

It refers to just subsection a which is the part that requires Cisco and other
manufacturers and resellers to not build or sell a system unless it’s
preconfigured to allow this when setup properly.

At least that’s how I read it.

Digging further, does this mean the law doesn't go into affect until Feb, 2020?

Re: [cisco-voip] Jabber Multiline is Here

2018-04-02 Thread Matthew Loraditch
I’m going to presume my answer is the same as Brian’s but our Call Center staff
all have hard phones at the office, but when they work from home they need to
use a softphone. Since UCCX requires agent extensions only exist on one device,
they have to use EM and Jabber doesn’t support EM so we have to provision them
with CIPC for at home usage.

Brian,
If you move to multiline on Jabber and decommission softphones/deskphones as a
byproduct, what issue does that generate with UCCX?

Being that Jabber tethers to your own controlled device without a specific CSF
specified, what use case would extension mobility fulfill that jabber itself
wouldn’t?

Big holdup looks to be no multiline with MRA, still only single line there.

The other big issue is no extension mobility support and UCCX is still
enforcing their single device policy. I've been having some discussions with
the Jabber/UCCX teams around this. Right now CIPC is EOL but I'm still having
to do active deployments of it due to this issue as I'm sure many others are

Just in case you missed it, Jabber multiline made it into 12.0. You'll need to
be on CUCM 11.5(1)SU4 and install a COP file to support it.

Hi Group,

If I purchased 2 x BE6k starter packs of 35 CUWL Standard license for
installation with 2 different clusters. There are located in 2 different part
of the world, there's latency issues so we have to do this although number of
users are low.

How will it show up in PLM? 70 CUWL STD license? Can it be shared among the 2
clusters?

Let's say 1 cluster will be using 45 CUWL standard licenses while another one
use like 25 CUWL ? Will this lead to any license violation in the PLM?

[cisco-voip] Robo Call DoS

2018-04-16 Thread Matthew Loraditch
So this is a curiosity question, we had a prospective client call us who is
essentially getting robocalled to oblivion. Some scammer has robo dialers setup
and is flooding all of their trunks. He got a ransom, stopped and then started

switching to random sources.
Are there are any legitimate defenses to this sort of thing?

Technically. For a network there is gear that can do it. Radware among one of
them and the one we use via our carrier and it works. An effective defense has
to have a larger pipe somewhere with mitigation services at a capacity well
above your capacity.

I don’t think the CAPTCHA would work, the person just calls and calls tying up
the available trunks. You’d need the CAPTCHA to be on the attacker’s end. Based
on the description I got they aren’t caring about an answer they are
essentially just trying to keep the lines always busy.

Technically or legally?

How does one stop a DoS attack on a network? Or on anything for that matter?
Say you were attending a protest, and someone is blowing an air horn in your
ear<https://youtu.be/cvAMkDGKelQ?t=80>? What can you do?

Technically, you could front end the whole thing with a captcha style gate, so
you could ask to push a single button, button combination, or solve a simple
addition problem resulting in two digits. granted, just like on the web, a
captcha is burdensome to the user, but generally, it's preferable over the site
being down, or disrupted.

CUC and UCCX both could handle this task, though it would be easier in UCCX.

I am able to add phones and configure everything else so far... any idea what

Re: [cisco-voip] CSR 12 Experiences

2018-07-10 Thread Matthew Loraditch
As partner and participant in the CUWP licensing program, I am technically
required to have our internal system on the latest software versions.

We usually update within a month or so of release depending on integration
compatibilities.

We’ve since done a few clients as well. I’m not sure what Brandon was referring
to with the daredevils comment. The biggest pain for us is and will be the
licensing conversion. Finding and converting years of PAK keys into one smart
licensing account can be a pain. I will say our installs are fairly simple,
BE6K, maybe some UCCX and that’s it.

The actual upgrades have been painless and just the same as any previous ones.

As far as actual phone features goes, I feel like there is just a little bit
every time now. A .0 or a .5 seem to have the same amount of changes. It’s
only a historical association that makes folks recoil. I just did a quick
comparison of the 11.5 and 12.0 Release notes and they have nearly the same
amount of listed new features/changes.

I'm hoping those of you that have been upgrading to and running CUCM 12.0 can
share your experiences here.

What did you learn during the upgrade process? What issues are you still
battling? What drove you to version 12? What were the pleasant surprises? Why
didn't you upgrade to 12 yet?

Brandon Ta at CLUS 2018 referred to those running 12 already as "daredevils"
and while I am generally opposed to deploying .0 releases, CSR 12.5 may still
be relatively far out on the horizon. It would benefit the community if we
might share experiences here.

There is not much banter on the Cisco support forums or communities and the
release note caveats and bug tracker responses seem generally manageable. The
real life pro tips are always in the comments section though.

Thanks all.

For what servers your servers will need to talk to, if you can do URL based
firewall rules that would work.

If not the servers are all Cisco's and in the Webex cloud so the IP blocks
aren't that many: https://collaborationhelp.cisco.com/article/en-us/WBX264
Now I'm not 100% certain if ALL webex services fall within those IPs. That
article is designed for Teams and Meetings.

I will add I've never operated in an environment as tight/regulated as yours,
but I have 23 clusters that have been able to talk outbound to internet since
their beginnings and never had an issue that had to do with that.

Also you are going to have to think about this internet thing again when you go
to 12.x+ and smart licensing so you may want to look up those requirements as
well. A few more options exist there where going offline intermittently isn't
as much of a deal.

Subject: [cisco-voip] setting up access for APNS - granular vs wide open
internet access

Another issue we are facing is setting up the collaboration servers (CUCM, IMP)
to talk out of our private network to the internet to talk to Cisco and Apple
servers.

Just wondering what others have been doing.

Our networking team has suggested the simplest way would be to add a PAT rule
at our edge for the servers (or network) so that they can communicate out to
the internet as required. There would be no ACLs applied, so they could talk to
anywhere. By applying the PAT on the edge, all internal communications would
continue with the internal addressing. The PAT would only allow established
communications - no outside-to-inside initiated talk allowed.

The other alternative would be to put a bunch of xlate's on our data centre
firewall, one for each source collab server and cisco/apple dest pair - this
could be 10s of statements.

The first means I have no control over who the servers can talk to on the
internet. Which scares me.

The second would mean quite a bit of extra upfront work, and managing those
statements if/when Cisco and apple update their ip addresses.

There is the proxy option, but the current proxy service we have is likely not
to be considered mission critical and attaching the APNS configuration to this
likely wouldn't go over well.

What have others done in this situation?

Thanks!

I just noticed that there is a requirement in the accessories guide to be
running 12.0(1) firmware when using the KEM.

"The Cisco IP Phone 8851/8861 Key Expansion Module and the Cisco IP Phone 8865
Key Expansion Module require firmware release 12.0(1) or later, and Cisco
Unified Communications Manager 10.5(2) or later to function."

And this phone is running 11.7(1). Let me get that upgraded quick and re-test.

Interestingly, I have both an 11.5(1)SU3 and an 11.5(1)SU4 deployment to look
at, and the SU3 one doesn't have the newer KEM selections in the drop down, but
the SU4 one does. So, you would think that the SU4 Release Notes would mention
it, but there's nothing in there.

I'd be surprised if the module itself is causing the phone to negotiate video

I have a use case on an 8865 with the KEM, and a Line configured per the usual

There is no extra license needed to use MRA on an endpoint. Anything ordered
with the default SKUs has encryption. Only an order for an encryption

According to this, I can connect the roomkit through MRA(?), or at least,

I’m hoping to test this as one option to register devices while on a data

We just added a workflow pop up. Of course we are an IT company and all these

Does anyone have written up the right settings for Firefox or Chrome to ensure

The finesse desktop guide doesn't even mention pop ups in the preferred

Looks like I'm hitting the lot today.

I ran into a problem where I can't seem to change the username on Jabber any
longer, even with a reset. It defaults back to the user I had earlier.

The only recent change is our upgrade from CUCM v9 to CUCM v11.5. I'm guessing
that did it, but I'm hoping to find a way out of this.

I'm in the middle of my research right now, but if anyone has a quick link or

I can't find a cop file for the Presence server.

The OS Admin | Install reports "No Valid Upgrade options were found".

Current version - 11.5.1.12900-25
New file - Bootable_UCSInstall_CUP_12.0.1.1-12.sgn.iso
New CUCM version - 12.0.1.21900-7

I have these versions running in my production system fine. I just can't recall

Re: [cisco-voip] webkit via expressway

2018-09-13 Thread Matthew Loraditch
_cisco-uds is for internal dns only, _collab-edge is for external only you
don’t want either in the other. If you have Jabber MRA working, this should
work and no changes needed that I can recall. You will want it to have external
dns servers. It sounds like you are testing in some sort of DMZ outside but not
totally outside your network.

Not sure what you mean by try to connect directly, it only knows what to try
once you put the domain in. Jabber only knows because you put in your username
at some point.

The user needs to be an end-user I’m pretty certain.

Ok. Great. Thanks. I’ll likely setup some application users to test this out
(hopefully they don’t have to be end users).

Do we know if it works like Jabber such that if
_cisco-uds._tcp.acme.com<http://tcp.acme.com> resolves, it will try to connect
directly?

My hope is I can just add _collab-edge._tls to the internal dns tables as well.
Can’t imagine that would hurt.

Alternative would be to program dns servers to 8.8.8.8 as I mentioned earlier.

There are a lot of settings controlled by cucm (or at least appear on the
config page). Interested to find out what they all do.

I’m hoping we’re not back to the old, “those are ignored and configure directly
on device” game.

it's DNS servers to google so it gets the

I'm hoping that once this is done, I can get proximity working - but one thing

unexplained and unexpected 10+ hour outage of all service to an
environment/application.

That’s the difference, control.

The RFO for this one is going to be a doozy. On meetings they are migrating all
users who had been upgraded to Video Platform 2.0 back to 1.0. I have no idea
of the scope but that seems like a pretty big undertaking and a tiny insight
into how screwed up whatever happened is.

SCCP from the last time I looked is going away. However I can't remember if its
12.5 or the next version 14. Skipping 13, apparently it's bad luck lol

What's the skinny on SCCP? I've seen the slide from CLUS 18 about deprecation

12.5. I find it implausible but customers are starting to ask questions...

While I’m sure it will work, TAC will probably wave a finger. 6.7 support is
targeted for when the 12.5 releases FCS

All--

I"m currently running most all UC apps on 11.5/6. It looks like from what I
can find, ESXi is supported up to 6.5.

My infrastructure Engineer would like to upgrade to 6.7. Does anyone see any
problems with that?

Will TAC explode if they find out?

TIA

How many users? You can go into the acg and add up to 250 at a time I believe.
Manual may be faster in this case depending on the count

Afternoon all,

Might be a bit of a basic question, but I need to assign all the users in our
cluster to a specific access control group.

Am I correct in saying the easiest way to accomplish this is via the bat tool?

If so could someone advise me of the correct approach please.

Many thanks

Re: [cisco-voip] Mass import of users into Access Control Group

2018-10-10 Thread Matthew Loraditch
Yeah, I would just do it in the GUI, that’s 4 sets of users you’d be done in
about a minute. It also only shows you users not in the group. So each time you
add folks the resulting refresh of the screen is the unadded users left.

[cisco-voip] Migrate HCS to On-Prem

2018-10-23 Thread Matthew Loraditch
So we are taking a Customer from a 3rd party's HCS back to On-Prem.

The way I understand HCS is it's a bunch of management software on top of
normal VMs for CUCM/CUC/UCCX, etc.

Can you restore a DRF of an HCS CUCM to the same version on-prem? Same for the
other apps?
