Hi all!
Looking to rebed the deck tanks on my 1980 34c. My question: are these
held in any sort of tension/compression, assuming their is not
significant tension on the mainsheet? If so, is it simply a matter of
removing the fasteners and rebedding with Butyl?
Thanks!

I've thought of it. It would at least mean reworking the lazarette and the

So now that I've witnessed my yard rig my shroud attachments 2 different ways,
it's got me wondering what exactly is the *correct* order to attach the shroud
turnbuckles to the chainplates.
Boat is a '90 34+ with double spreader rig. The chainplates have 4 holes, and
three things to
Another boat that you might want to consider is the C 110. The shoal draft
version draws 4'-10". It's a little bit longer, wider and faster than the 34+.
If you're looking for a project, there's one listed on Yachtworld for $30,000
on the east coast. Here's the link.
Folks,
I'm starting that long journey to a bigger boat. I'm looking for a 34+
with a 5 ft draft.
My budget most likely will not allow for a long delivery. So I'm looking
at boats located in the Chesapeake to Maine, on the East Coast.
I'd also consider a CS 34 or 36 with the transom step.
Dave has Stemball Fittings on his shrouds, not T-Ball fittings. He
probably has a t-Ball Fitting on his Baby Stay (and on his running Back
Check Stays if he has them) but that's about it.
T-Ball fittings need the rubber plugs, Stemballs don't.
A reference here:
Hi Dave,
Aren’t there suppose to be a plastic gasket/spacer thingy that fills the hole
and keeps the socket head down in the slot? Hum - I keep saying talk to your
rigger. . .

Boy am I glad I asked you guys about this! I went up the mast yesterday - the
toggles on these two shrouds were not pulled all the way down seated in their
sockets, thus causing the unfair lead out of the mast. I hate to think what
might have happened if I loaded up the rig and

Something's up with the ball and socket. They should be perfectly straight.
The bend is very slight that should not be a problem. It'll straighten
right up once you free up the joint and put some tension on it.
Should
I stand corrected. Looking at it today i checked and my lower shrouds are
straight. Its my check stays that are bent and that's because i move them
forward on the toe rail.

So my new-to-me 34+ is now in the water and I'm working on getting everything
sorted out. I'm at a bit of disadvantage since the boat was out of the water
with the rig down when I bought her, so I've never actually seen her rigged
and rig is considerably different than my previous 28'er.

I wouldn't hesitate to disconnect them. Count the turns and have
anti-seeze available during reassembly.

Here's my next ultra-paranoid new owner question:
So, looking up at my rig from the deck at where the lower intermediate shrouds
enter the attachment point to the mast, they do not appear to make a perfectly
straight lead right into the socket.
They both appear to take a very slight bend in

You are correct, there's no additional purchase on the outhaul (There
should be)and the 2 additional sheaves are for reefing.
