A friend of mine in Florida told me 2 days ago that snowbirds and others attempting to sail north up the east coast were running into problems because of all the marinas that were refusing transients dockage. Doesn't seem right. They didn't close all the hotels and motels on the motorways.

Try a good scrubbing before buying new...my 37 came with sheaves that were marginally operable; I took them out (mast down) and used a very fine emery cloth on both the axle-pin and the inside of the hole in the sheave...nothing was physically wrong with them, after cleaning they work great;

Tim, I don’t have any drawings but I own a 78 36-1. I took my sheaves off about 10 years ago and if I remember correctly a single pin is used for both sheaves. If you can put a piece of wire or twine around the sheave to hold it in place you can safely remove the pin and pull the sheaves

That is not the only absurd aspect of the response to Covid 19. You can’t access your boat nor can I go into my University office, which in both cases there is no contact with other people. But I can go to the hardware store or grocery store where you can’t help but encounter other people.
