To bring it back on topic, Natal looks like it could
have quite a bit of latency
I'm not sure about that. I noticed a bit of latency in a few places, but not
everywhere. As I recall, the live demo at E3 in which the girl was batting
at balls with her hands and feet looked very responsive, but
Wii obviously has M$ terrified. Nintendo is making big bucks while M$
is investing big bucks, but losing money on the deal.
The question is whether the computer was responding to the movements
of the people or whether some well-rehearsed people were following

Tom said it well.
Nowadays, you can incorporate (locally) for between $ 250 and $ 500 on the low
end and $ 1000 and $ 1 on the high end. The difference- is the agent you
employ. Is there really a difference between an entity that does it for $ 250
and one that does it for $ 10K- perhaps.
reviews by M$ minions who had nothing but praise and
the party line. Google showed me a much more independent
set of results -- reviewers who had tried Natal and
found that some things worked and others things didn't.
CNet is hardly an M$ minion.
We'll probably output for several formats, for web use for
promotional DVD's. I wasn't in on the planning session, so I don't
know how much they would charge to convert it to standard def.
Why not ask them to output as high def DVD movie [UTF w/VIDEO_TS] on DL
disks, and deliver the disks to
Aisha Tyler twittered that Natal was really cool after spending time using
it at E3. I know anyone who disagrees with Tom's World™ is an MS stooge but
I think the rest of us can agree Tyler isn't much of a stooge.

They don't release development kits for vaporware--but they have for Natal.

This can be difficult, depending of course on the amount of product. A
4.7g DVD can only hold some 15 minutes of HDV .m2t files. Tremendous
hassle to split those up and burn them. Of course, if both parties had
blu-ray drives the problem is solved.
A common form of distribution now for shorter
What part of development do you not understand.
No game is on the shelf for sale featuring this technology.
NONE!
The stuff I have been talking about is all in production and is on
the shelves or will be within the week. (Tiger Woods 10)
I do not doubt it has been sent out to developers,
No, he said they sent out developers units so game companies can code for
it.

You are starting to sound like Tom, I usually don't expect insults from you.
Calm down Rev..
You said you had seen much that was vaporware, my point was that it was
already in production, already in the pipeline. It's not been released yet,
but it will be. It's not a development tool, the

Each game platform seems to have it's endorsers and its detractors.
The Wii started off as the first (or let's say the most recent)

One may claim that it's difficult to output an HD product on DL disks,
although I disagree, having done some HD video. It's irresponsible to do
half a job. In no way should the final product be the raw DV tapes. Nor
should the end product be compressed at MPEG4 unless requested by the
client.
Well...it's kinda hard for you to start dictating the terms of the thread,
especially when Chris started it and in the first email it was clear he was

I personally would not compare the Wii and the Xbox, I've said before that I
don't believe the two
I did not see that in his note sorry. He seemed to be putting down
the Wii which has developed a pretty good set of games to the Xbox
which still has one in development.
Sometimes it is fun sometimes it is frustrating. The way that Cell
phone companies play games I get very frustrated. If

Rev, with all due respect. I linked to a demo at E3, where it was pretty
clear that this wasn't something you could buy today. I also referred to it
