Sorry, I am not sure. I was hoping you had a bootable backup, and could
just make the comparison.
There's always the option of deleting everything (including the caches)
and reinstalling, if the worst comes to the worst.

I think that the choices the Mac gives are not entirely clear.
As far as I can recall, DHCP with manual address does behave in the way
you report. I'm not sure what it is supposed to do.
Manual configuration should work.As 4mula1 says, most likely problem is
not entering the DNS server address.
Just like the others have said... but if you don't want to interrupt the
currently-playing track, press and hold Add.
The album will be added to the playlist after the current track. When
the album completes, random play will continue.

For what it's worth, I only just managed to get 1.1.4 working after
having exactly the same problems. I've no idea why it started working,
the only thing I did different to previous attempts was to install it
from a different PC. When I installed it from the actual PC I have SC7
running on, it
I've moved the main Netgear router and the music server laptop
downstairs and wired them together, so that there is only 1 wireless
hop (and 1 wired) between the server and the squeezebox. This seems to
have cured the problem.

I uninstalled 6.5.4, reinstalled 7.0-2008-01-26 and everything worked
fine this time. All of my settings were still there so I did not have
to reconfigure anything to make it work or break. Its using the
exact same config as last install only this time it worked.

Like bpa said, the announcement script is _not_ a plugin, it's a
standalone script you have to run when you want to show something on
the player. For example you could configure your email client to run it
every time you got a new email. But on it's own it won't do anything.

This is not a plugin, but a standalon script which must be executed using
perl. www.activestate.com has perl for Windows.

our post helped me a lot thanks, in the end I decided the playlists
were messed up somehow (after I had tried some of your suggetsions). I
deleted them all and remade them and all is well now.

1. I read somewhere on the slimdevices site about SS that there was no
need under version 6.5.4 to rescan a musicbase managed through iTunes
presumably after changes and/or additions. I am using 6.5.5 five SB2+3s
and I never came across this possibility?

I'm not a big user of the RF blaster (no user at all of the feature,
actually), but I do use the headphone jack a lot.
If there's no jack for the RF blaster, there's no jack for the
headphones either. Now, to me at least, that does seem like a
substantial change from the SB3.
