What form will the "community hardware" take? Community software
projects make sense, but I've never heard of a community hardware
project. Will it be a parts list? A kit?
It's interesting to see this little projects taking root. Hopefully one

There probably aren't enough squeezeboxes out there for TuneIn to care
about. You also have to factor in that the number of squeezeboxes out
there is not growing, they will probaly shrink as people stop using them
or they fail.

Sonos has a full sized product display in my local Target (a mass
retailer here in the US - a more upscale version of WalMart). The

first started using orangesqueeze, I found myself exiting it a lot by
accident. I must have gotten used to it now because I don't exit out
accidentally any more. It did take me quite a while to get used to it

I have both squeeze commander and orange squeeze. Squeezecommander is
less intuitive to use, but is very feature rich. OrangeSqueeze is more
intuitive to use and has a much more polished look to it. Feature-wise,
it is quickly catching up to squeezecommander. The developer is VERY
responsive.
My daughter has been using her's since she was in the first grade (6
years old). My wife uses our duet in the kitchen all of the time...and
has for years. My wife gets easily frustrated with electronic stuff and
has managed to have no trouble with the duet.

I've been using the preview version exclusively since it's been made
available. Overall, I've found it stable and improved. A couple of
things I've noticed:
1) I can't use rhapsody. I can search and navigate my rhapsody library,
but when I select something to play, it doesn't do anything.

If it weren't for people like Ben, Michael, Andy, Dean, Felix, Richard,
Sean, etc., I think the squeezebox would have withered much sooner than
this. Ben gave us a glimpse in a recent posting of the inner workings
of the team and how they championed the Squeezebox and stayed "true to
the cause".
I know Sonos has controller apps for phones and tablets, but I don't
think there are players. That would be a deal breaker for me at this
point since I regularly use my andriod media player and my iPod Touch as
portable squeezeboxes in my house and on family trips when we have
access to WiFi.

more like Roku when the squeezebox trounced the Roku music streaming
device 5 years ago or so. Roku rose from the ashes by revinventing

Glad to see some life with this app. I've been using it exclusively on
my Samsung Galaxy 4.2 player (gingerbread based). I also use it from
time to time on my WiFi Xoom. Compared to SqueezeCommander,
OrangeSqueeze has a more fresh look and feel to it.

We just got my daughter a current generation 8GB iPod Touch (4th gen I
believe) for $170 from Amazon. I'm shocked at how the price has come
down. This was even less expensive than a refurb of the same model from
Apple.
Local stores in our area have had them price similarly. Look out for
deals.
