All the country totals are correct too. There has already been mention of the next release - now that the basics are sorted out, can we expect some real enhancements next time around? (and the packet filtering bug fixed, too?) It would be good to understand the road-map, if there is one? In my mind, the enhancements offered do not particularly warranty a version upgrade, they're 'point upgrade' features that should have come out a long time ago. I'm really disappointed by it - the only real benefit for me is the ability to log FT8 QSOs, the rest is superficial. Others may view it differently of course. I do like DX4WIN for its multiple groups functionality, stability, interface, speed and powerful searching but we're now in 2017 and people use MMVARI, FLDIGI, WSJT-X, Clublog etc... I'm sure there is more to come. Modern day logging software needs to interface with these tools; for a 'paid for' product I would expect much more than what has been delivered. I've paid and I'll stick with it because I know it. But probably not for much longer, I feel I'm being taken for a ride here. Hi Paul, If you're ever looking at Clublog filters, and how they import/ modify Dx4win data, I use OQRS now as my prime means for label printing, since I have many requests now on line, for the DX calls we have used. Re: [Dx4win] operating CW from keyboard and keyer without unplugging
Not Jim, but I may have the answer: it shoudl be yes, with some caveats. I assume that you have a good serial keying lead already ? I know nothing about the Heathkit keyer. the normal way is to get a jack plug Y adapter for your radio ; that is, 2 quarter inch jacks to one output that goes to the jack on teh radio. This assumes that yuor keyer and your serial interface are keying the radio in the same way; usually you have an open collector feed on the serial lead for PC kleying; I think when you key you are effectively pulling down the 12V on the radio Jack socket to ground. The heathit needs to be doing the same. If it is relay keying, this is ok; if not, it would have to be configured to the same polarity anyway. This is the same as you woudl do with any other logging software by the way; I used to do the same with parallel interface keying with CT, to my TS930S , and an external keyer Hope this makes sense 73 Dave G3NKC From: Ed Douglass aa...@doorpi.net To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Wednesday, 9 January 2013, 16:16 Subject: [Dx4win] operating CW from keyboard and keyer without unplugging A question for Jim Reisert: Using DX4WIN, is it possible to operate CW from a keyboard with a serial port connection between the computer and the transceiver and then parallel the output of a keyer (Heathkit uMatic Keyer) with the cable from the serial port in the plug that goes into the CW jack on a Kenwood TS--850? Re: [Dx4win] LOTW Support
I think Dicks point is a fair one; when you look in a wider context. Some people would like the ability to upload more frequently; this is down to personal preference. Other programs offer this. Some people would prefer to see automatic connection (and reconnection) to your favourite cluster, that DX4Win doesnt support. Other programs do. There are some bug fixes / enhancements that have been mentioned on this reflector, too. I am aware that there are now other programs that might look better, have other features; and have so far stuck with DX4Win for 10 years plus. Problem is, with no visibility of if it is being developed, others will start to migrate away, and look at other offerings, potentially depleting our current user base, and long term viability of this product 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of ON4AOI Sent: 07 January 2013 06:24 To: 'Dick Flanagan' Cc: DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] LOTW Support Hi Dick, What do you mean with ¨seamless integration with LOTW¨ ? Am not at home at teh mment (on in front of DX4WIN); but a few points come to mind: Are the awards set up? You need to go into the reports menu to do this; but you might also have to go into preferences too, to enable bands/modes. In reports, you would need to set up tabs for all awards you are interested in. In teh regular QSO window, do you show QSL data (Y for confimed QSO's); and if you wanted LOTW info, you need to import confirmations from LOTW too. Re: [Dx4win] WPX confirmation
Karl I used the example in my log of 7O6T; which is a new country, and hence of course a new prefix Since this is LOTW confirmed, the country window would show as a C. However, the way DX4WIN is, by default; you would need a real QSL to make the WPX window change to a C; so it shows as a W still. With LOTW being enabled for WPX; I guess you would need to go to Reports, Awards, select the WPX flag, and change the Confirmation to allow LOTW, which I think is the new arrangement Don't chase prefixes; too many of them !! 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Karl Oyster Sent: 30 June 2012 15:56 To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] WPX confirmation Hi folks, I've run into something that I'm confused by (there are a lot of those but this one is specific!!!) - when I have confirmed a new prefix (either by LOTW or via a QSL card), the WPX box which indicates the band and mode of the contact remains filled with a W. Re: [Dx4win] Splitting a file
Alan This is quite simple; but I would recommend that you filter your log, and set the call signs up as groups, assuming you are talking about USA calls only?? 1) ensure that you have a call sign attached to all of your logs. I would hope that ion the Group filed in your QSO window, you see Group 1? If not filter (F8) on whatever number is there, and change it to 1 . It may be defaulted in preferences to zero. 2) Next assign a group name to Group 1, by using the Filter Edit Group Names. Use your older call. Also , add a 2nd Group name with your new call, and make it appear as 002. Close this window. 3) next filter your QSO's for the range with your new call, say 01/01/2012, only you know that. 4) Then, select the QSO tab, and edit Multiple QSOs operations, and set Group number, Change all to 002 Then you should be able to filter your log for groups 001 and 002 for your upload. I have to dash, I have somewhere to go, but hope that this helps 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Alan Maslin Sent: 22 May 2012 16:23 To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Splitting a file Hi...I have been using DX4WIN for quite a while. [Dx4win] Program ID info
Hi Michael Some while ago, I commented that Clublog doesn't pick up on my Program type; even though eQSL and I think LOTW does. I was spurred on into looking at this; following comments about the Program stats on the Clublog page; and I noticed that ClubLog does not pick up on this 44% of the time (big percentage !!) I think I know the answer. Seems like PROGRAMID and PROGRAMVERSION are only available in ADIF 2;and I wonder how many other logging programs are still using ADIF 1, which is much simpler. I now suspect DX4WIN does; having looked at the ADIF According to ADIF 1 spec: Optional header information may be included before the actual data in the file. To include optional header info, the first character of the file must be something other than . Any amount of header info of any value except eoh may be included. The header info must be terminated with eoh. Any number of characters of any value except may follow eoh. The first after eoh is the start of the first field of the first data record in the file. Here is an example: this data was exported using WF1B RTTY version 9, conforming to ADIF standard specification version 9.99eoh In the case of DX4WIN; the header is: DX4WIN ADIF Export V1.0 eoh Is it possible to determine characteristics of the first line ; to improve the coverage of this report ?? Have to say that I can't imagine many more logging program variants that may still be using ADIF 1; looking at the number of programs used ! I have cross-posted this to the DX4WIN reflector; I would suggest that listing the most popular software is a good market survey initiative; maybe Paul would like to consider moving to ADIF 2 when he sees that DX4WIN is not listed here: http://www.clublog.org/software.php 73 Dave G3NKC __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] Tracking awards
Alan, Jim replied to most of your note, so don't need to repeat that. As regards conventions, the first thing I would check if you have so many DXCC's is - how many of these countries is uploaded to ARRL LOTW - that will minimise what needs to be checked at a convention. Then, I usually download and fill out the proper ARRL DXCC application form from their web site; since you need to fill in sheet 1 anyway. I then only complete handwritten details for those not submitted through LOTW. Re: [Dx4win] LOTW questions
I too am confused about the notfound file. I have just done a test; if you import an ADIF twice (in mycase, I did just that; in practice, if someone uploads a QSO with me twice in LOTW) the 2nd QSO then is summarised in the dialogue box as x duplicates, and is included in the notfound file I think that this is confusing; notfound should be just that; or the record has a duplicate marked against it. The other category in the notfound report is where the QSO details have been changed by an LOTW user - typical example is the US State is different on the QSL card to that on the US operators upload file. How are the 39 QSO's marked with conflicting information using data from imported QSO's? I tried error/lotw both in the Notes for this QSO/Call with no results. What are the implications? 5. In the past I have uploaded the log, waited a little while then downloaded/imported the resulting file. LOTW shows I have 94,398 QSL records. When I do a search for LOTW confirmations in my log I show 90,715. Why the difference? I am actually using Ver 8.04. Re: [Dx4win] Award credit
HI Dennis I know I replied off group; but I have found something strange on this. I created a new log, for this test. I entered a QSO with F5VHY on 20m, for today; then checked the Reports tab, and looked at DXCC Summary - I have France worked of course. I changed the QSO date to 01/01/1983, just to better the date that you gave; and did the same again - I lost my credit for working France! I checked the dates; and you are right- anything before 1st June produces no credits; 2nd June is fine !! I then entered a QSL Y for our imaginary QSO - Voila, as we say; the QSO is shown as confirmed !! This behaviour holds true for 1970's QSO's too; I cannot think that this is intended behaviour !!! But I found a workaround too Dennis - fill in the QSL date; even for a non-QSLled contact; all is well again !! Does anyone know if this has been reported before?? (I am running DX4WIN 8.04) 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Dennis Andrews, F5VHY Sent: 18 October 2010 15:00 To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Award credit A strange problem! Re: [Dx4win] Award credit - Found the problem !!!!
Go into Setup Parameters; Personal; you need to set Worked cutoff and Mailed cutoff to Zero !! Worked Cutoff QSOs worked longer ago than the number of days specified will be marked as 'not worked'. Used to ignore QSOs that are not likely to be ever confirmed because they took place too long ago. The DX Spots Window for example will show the colors as if this QSO did not exist. A value of zero is used to ignore the CutOff and view all QSOs as 'worked' regardless how long ago the QSO took place. Mailed Cutoff Similar as Worked Cutoff, but the QSL date is used instead of the QSO date. QSOs for which a card has been sent longer ago than the number of days specified will be treated as if a card was never sent. This can be used in reports and summary windows and when marking additional QSOs for QSLing. A value of zero is used to ignore the CutOff and view all QSLs that were mailed as 'mailed' regardless how long ago the mailing took place. [Dx4win] Cross posted - DX4WIN Spot colours and ADIF country assignments
Hi Jim, Further to the posts on colours for DX Spots; I too seem to see erratic behaviour on PJ spots; with quite a few appearing in yellow despite the fact that I have worked the same station on the same band/mode already ! I have the latest country file and ADIF.PMP installed. By example, PJ5/AA4NC was on 80m this am (3510 I think); who showed in yellow; though I have already worked him on CW PJ2T is now on 10101 ; and shows in yellow - new band countries normally show in red as stud; and I can see some new band slots in red for non-PJ) Michael / Jim I couldn't get my new entities to show in Club Log (FWIW !!); and had to edit my ADIF for it to work. Re: [Dx4win] Error messages
Well Jo, I did wonder when it failed , from your 1st note! Kostas was referring only to start up. Does it only fail when you TX; in which case it could be RF that is causing the interface to fail ? If so, you may need to filter/screen your leads? Maybe ferrites or decoupling capacitors? The other thing I have seen is failure when the PC is idle for a long time; parts of your PC may go to sleep when not in use; if you think it could be this then you would need to check your power save options. Re: [Dx4win] Tracking IOTA and RDA
Hi Mel I understand your problem with this; but I don't see a proper solution. I can only speak from the IOTA perspective (Since I have IOTA awards, but not RDA), there can only be 3 answers to my mind: 1 - RSGB/IOTA share info with ARRL LOTW or eQSL - not very likely 2 - Paul modifies the Log window to allow for at least 2 additional fields for IOTA/RDA. Could be done, but I would have thought compared to LOTW or eQSL, this is for a minority case - there are only a few years of IOTA contests only that are available; which is not very comprehensive. I cannot speak for RDA, but that may not cover many logs too. In any case; can you download matches from the IOTA web site for affecting flags; or from the RDA web site? I suspect not. I would suspect it is not worth the effort from Paul to modify the code. 3 - Get a real QSL card from the op. I guess you are not so interested in that, since you are happy with the on line confirmation; and do not in general need the card for any other award 4 - You should modify your log, by selecting the QSL window as confirmed, with a note in the log IOTA Web site confirmation I think 4) is your best course of action? 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Mel SM0MPV Sent: 29 August 2010 19:08 To: dx4win Subject: [Dx4win] Tracking IOTA and RDA Hi all, I will try to explain my self a little bit better. If I have a QSL card and mark the contact as either submitted (S) or checked (C) in the award box, it turns up in the listing as S or *, respectively. However, if the contact is just confirmed via the contest and no cards are available the program just ignores the settings in the Award box. So a contact that I have made during the IOTA contest and not have had a QSL-card from will turn up as W or M if this was the only contact or if neither of the other contacts with that island have been confirmed with a card. If I have worked another station from this Island and got a card there will be a C for confirmed in the listing. It seems like QSL status overrules Award status. I just tried it; and it looks good to me ! Of course, with IOTA a print out is not necessary, since you complete your application on line. If you want this sort of report, be sure to go into the Awards tab when in Reports; and make sure that bans and mode are deselected, since you don't get mode of band awards. Then, clear any submitted flags. The only report that shows date etc is the submitted box; this is the same as earlier versions of DX4WIN, right ?? I hope that this helps Paul. 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net]on Behalf Of F6EXV Sent: 21 March 2010 15:00 To: 'Dx4win' Subject: [Dx4win] Reports Hi all I have just upgraded to v 8.03 with no problem at all. Re: [Dx4win] Moving to another computer
Carter No-one else has commented yet; but that is not the approach I would have taken. Version 5.03 is a long way from where we currently are; I personally would recommend that you upgrade to the latest version ! If you are intent on getting your logs going on 5.03 first, on your new PC; AND you have the installation discs, I really think you should do a clean install. Jim, AD1C's web page www.ad1c.com gives good advice about upgrading; and I am sure about copying settings from 1 PC to another (exporting your preference files; and importing them on the 2nd PC). Generally, you can copy over your log files in the save directory; and replace the DX4WIN CTY file in that directory too, FOR THE SAME VERSION OF THE PROGRAMME. If you change versions; do an export from the older level; and use the correct import filter in the newer version! The CW issue you mentioned - you might need to look at your CW setup on your new PC anyway; I bet you had LPT or COM port keying on you WIN98 PC, that you won't have on your XP PC !! 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net]on Behalf Of Carter Sent: 06 February 2010 16:36 To: Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Moving to another computer I have a few questions I hope someone in the group can answer... First, I am what is referred to in the DX4win literature as a casual DXer. grin I have DX4win version 5.03, installed on my ham computer -- which uses Win98SE. Wanting to at least put a toe into the 21st century, I got a new computer with XP Pro. I DO have the 5.03 manual and my registration number and the CD. To take the easy way out, I just copied the DX4win folder and all of its sub directories from the old computer onto a CD and then loaded it on to the new computer rather than using a new install with the CD on the new computer. 1) In general, will this work? 2) It seemed to work (but the new computer is still on the bench, not hooked up to my Omni 6 or anything else). When I launch DX4win on the new computer, it comes up with a warning that says Could not open CW driver. What does this refer to? Is it fatal or am I just missing some driver that did not carry over from the old machine (or is it something new required by now being on an XP machine)? Once I click on OK to clear the warning message, everything else seems to be there and be OK (or as OK as I can tell, realizing that no radios or anything else is yet hooked up to the computer). 3) If I decide to upgrade to the latest version, how would I do that? Can I just upgrade what I brought over from the old computer or would I be better off trying a fresh install using the 5.03 CD on the new computer, do the upgrade and then just worry about bringing over my log(s) later? (only problem I see with that is that I would lose all the upgraded CTY files, etc, that were installed on the old computer, it may not recognize Ducie and others in the existing log). Hope the questions make sense and thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Re: [Dx4win] DX Cluster connection
Randy No-one has come to your Aid yet, but you might have done nothing wrong, just not completed the process. You found preferences; and you want to check Packet 1 tab. Assuming you are using Internet, you use Cluster interface Type - Regular, COM port - TCP/IP, the rest shouldn't matter. IN DX4WIN , you should then have a packet window. In the packet window, you see some commands, one is called Connect. When you press this , you see a dialogue box no connection active; OK this ten you get a screen called Select Internet Address. You will need to select one of these, and you might have to set up an account; it sounds like you haven't got one. This should get you going. There are more tricks you can do, like use the VE7CC software, but that's for another day. [Dx4win] Upgrading DX4WIN in V8 - another step you should do !
Hi All Just discovered something else that has caught me out in upgrading from 8.02 to 8.03 - IOTA database. If you look at the help notes, and you chase IOTA, there is a database file that you need from the IOTA web site - http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fulllist.xml . This is saved in the SAVE directory. IN 8.02; I did this operation; and populated the island names. In migrating to 8.03 omitted to put the file in the directory; all of the data is then discarded in the migration process. You could either download the file again from the IOTA website or copy it over from the 8.02 directory, to the 8.03 directory, as I did. If you then copy your log over, you preserve the island names. In my case; I have been doing some additional log cleansing, so it is too late to go back to the old version; although I could spend an evening updating 8.03 laboriously ! Jim - could this additional step be covered in your application notes; I think this is the best place to cover this! 73 Dave G3NKC __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Strange errors in ADIF export
Hello Isidro I am not sure why I had the problems I reported - I use 2 PC's; the ADIF.PMP file date is the same, which must have been in the 8.03 download. the DX4WIN.CTY file now uses the same version (Shack PC is ok). When I installed 8.03; I merged the country file with Jim's instruction/method; since I may have some additional stuff contained. Even the TK0KP/SAN is now doing the right thing. Someone said that the PMP file should be copied over as well as logs / the DX4WIN.CTY. Not sure why, since I don't see any evidence of the PMP file being modified. Re: [Dx4win] Strange errors in ADIF export
Mel I don't think it is small errors that caused the problem I reported; it was DX4Win log interpreting , say TK0KP/SAN as Corsica as displayed; and the ADIF export interpreting it as the ADIF code for Sweden. I checked it with the ADIF web page; so I understand what is screwed, but not how it got into that state ! When I checked, the ARRL numbers and ADIF numbers were off in a few cases. There were a couple of codes over 500 that did not match and perhaps Palestine. The explanation I was given at the time was that, since the ADIF numbers were assigned first, the ADIF number was the best guess as to what the ARRL would use since they didn't assign provisional numbers. (Set QSL date has no consequence for this issue) Observed operation Search QSO to be confirmed (F8) Press F2 Key; Cnfm is set to Y immediately; and dialogue box says QSO confirmed already, set label flag? HI Scott; you are 100% with this; I also noticed this again today; following Jim's FB account of the report behaviour I would expect it to mimic QSL required status for the award Incidentally, the other problem I commented on with the disappearing sr/ss window - solved. The window was in the same place as the window to select Cluster - when I double clicked my Telnet connection, sometimes it closed the sr/Ss one. There's more to this actually. While a WAZ report correctly reflects the date limits (e.g., for the 12-17-30m bands), the Zone window does not. I have a similar contact where the report shows blank (which is correct...I have not worked that zone since the cutoff date) but the Zone window shows C (which is correct as well, as I have it confirmed but before the cutoff date). [Dx4win] 8.02 issues
Hi Maybe I've picked up on a couple of issues, now that I am getting up to speed with V8 ! 1) For some reason, the sunrise / sunset window has been seen to disappear on start up. I usually have this displayed as a matter of choice; when DX4WIN starts, it is there, but after a log upload, it goes. Not always repeatable; maybe it depends what the configuration is at the time (My latop is not hooked up to the radio//Telnet at present; all is well, but I often see this when I come on for sunrise, in the shack ! Shack has MicroHam running, and a Telnet VE7CC window). I will watch this behaviour, and report back. Meanwhile, has anyone else seen this ? 2) the Reports in the WAZ window seems to have errors. If I do a WAZ listing for all bands, for me , most zones should be confirmed. On 17m, I see that Z1 is M, and Z17 also. If I go into Z1 for example (double click M); then the log calls up AL7I in my case, and I have a QSL date, a Y flag, and Buro. How can I make this report correctly ? I notice for 2) also, I cannot reset the awards flag Running XP, with SP2 73 Dave G3NKC __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Add local reflector to list in Select Internet Address.
Roger, Since I have been there and done that, the following might help even more: If you are connecting to the cluster with just DX4WIN, and I imagine that your preferred cluster now is via G7VJR's; then you need to add the line cluster.cdxc.org.uk:7300 to the DX4WIN.TCP file. Then you should be able to work out what else you would do , as you log in. Since this should be your favourite cluster (!); this should be at the top of the list for your convenience ! JIM - AD1C - maybe we should add the clublog cluster to the TCP file ??? If you want to use a Telnet connection, then best advice is to use the telnet software by VE7CC. Then, in DX4WIN.TCP you should have a line , or may need to create LOCALCC User,localhost:7300 at the top of the list. In Telnet window, you can select your favourite cluster easily; AND make it remember your call sign and password. Procedure here is to open / Start the Telnet window, then in DX4WIN make the local connection. Re: [Dx4win] DX cluster hookup?
Here Here Mel ! There are many features that if you analysed it you could do with just a few mouse clicks; and they all add up. - rig control / mode selection - is a nice to have in a logging programme; but we accept that the user is not lazy for wanting it (I bet someone used Erkki's argument 15 years ago ! - Rotator control - entering time automatically What about in DX4WIN operator preferences - they save you having to configure the programme every time you use it; for your laziness! We accept these niceties; and the same should be true of other features that would enhance the programme! In Win Test, which was the example I used, the choice of which cluster to use etc is still down to the user; it is merely anther preference that he sets up. I think about it as operator convenience; rather than laziness. Hi Jim / Paul I like what I see; these look like some good improvements to make. Band map is a great feature to have ! Only yesterday; we were hearing that WT also has been updated; so my contesting and logging suite look like some big changes ! I understand that we do not want to start a new wish list at this time; but there is 1 point of clarification, and 1 request I had made before: 1) - Are the new logging fields part of the ADIF spec; or stripped out for exports ? I've no worry either way 2) - I still find logging onto clusters a bit of a drag. Could we look forward to fields that can be preloaded with your favourite cluster node; that you can enter your log ins and passwords automatically (Check out the WT Telnet window, for example). With auto-reconnects etc? ! I still maintain that this should be configurable; once set up all I should do is call up DX4Win; and everything else is automatic ! Usually, a right click on the TaskBar ICON and then a 'Move' will do the trick however, the DX4WIN ICON doesn't have a 'Move' parameter. I believe there is an .ini setting but I've been unable to find it... So the question is ...how do you get DX4WIN to revert back to the primary (now only) monitor? Any help?... 73/ Regards... Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win and Clublog
David I use all 3 items that you mentioned; to be honest I never thought about it at all !!! I don't tend to worry about it. I am not sure if LOTW confirmed is an ADIF defined field ??? In DX4WIN, you will see that in File Preferences and the QSO tab, you can select Card in Hand to card or uploaded in the country window you will see the status change depending on how you have set up your preferences. Try making a spoof log with 1 QSO, setting LOTW confirmation; and check the ADIF expert when you change preferences ? Re: [Dx4win] Extracting Group Logs.
Hi Roger Of course I know which logs you are referring to. If you are thinking up uploading them, I think anyway you will need to split the log up: - You will need to filter by group name, and save the result for uploading - If the files are still too big, maybe you should then filter each log by date ? RE: [Dx4win] keyboard
And Cort, this was my reply to Steve: I must have bought it over 2 years ago now Steve; and am in the main very happy with it. I chose it as a Bluetooth device; I realised that 27MHz was not going to work; a lot of products (then) never stated the frequency, and just said Wireless. I checked the FCC number on these devices; and found the certification to be for 27MHz, so that ruled out most devices. The MX5000 I had was rather expensive at the time (?80 I think); but I think was a good investment. It is a plastic case ; the Keyboard has many fancy features that I rarely use in the shack ! The mouse uses a rechargeable battery and stand, and has good life; the keyboard uses 4 AA batteries; I never turn it off, but a set last 9 months or more - At home and IOM, I never heard any noises from it whatsoever. - At home, I have never caused it any grief, even with my 91B ! - At IOM, in a M/M environment, sometimes the keyboard had a latency build up - it would have delayed characters as seen by the screen. This was not too significant, everything got sent eventually. Put some people off, but didn't worry me too much. It has never sent garbled characters, or locked up ! The only other issue is that sometimes the keyboard unpairs itself - the mouse never does. I don't know though if this is to do with me - often I still use the main keyboard , unless I am doing some serious work ! So I am not sure if it unpairs if it is not being used. It is very simple to pair it again to the blue tooth dongle. 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net]on Behalf Of Steve GW4BLE Sent: 01 January 2009 15:11 To: 'Courtney Judd K4WI'; 'ACG' Cc: 'Writelog Reflector'; 'DX4WIN' Subject: [Dx4win] keyboard Great timing on the post Cort, because I am also thinking along the same lines. I may have missed the link, I thought there was a list to reported faults, but could not find it. I have 2 scenario's: - I have done a contest (usually with WT !); and want to import the QSO's to my logging programme, for onward upload to LOTW, and I want my Log to manage this. Because I have no chance to set the upload flag, I have to manually change a lot of flags - I use a shack PC, and another for uploading // managing QSL's in the house. This means that I transfer log updates from the shack to the 2nd PC, and would want to do onwards uploads. I understand that the reason this behaviour occurs is that the Upload field is probably not an ADIF one; but could a prompt be made available, either in a menu or in a pop up dialogue box ? 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Paul van der Eijk Sent: 08 December 2008 02:59 To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Version 7.06 Hi, I have uploaded DX4WIN version 7.06 to the website. Hi Thor Had chance to look at this; had some problems getting the SELECTION to work though !! It's OK now; I seem to have lost my filters in the main log (now fixed) So FILTER (F8) is only a temporary filter; by pressing ESC you go back to the full log SELECTION looks like a filter that applies until you decide that you are finished, and look at the whole log; right ? I see the advantages in reporting DXCC status, say by SELECTION call sign, too. It would meet my criteria for combining my GD logs, and for anyone else who had travelled and wants to keep their logs integrated, but be able to chase awards separately. For those who are setting Groups per contest; I only see it as a way to correlate their country score; but I would use the contest logger to do that. I see no real advantage to assigning a group to every contests, but that's my opinion. Maybe by groups of contest; for instance if I wanted to see how many IOTA's I had ever worked in IOTA contests, then that might be good to define an IOTA CONTEST selection, same with CQWW etc... Has anyone found a practical limit to log size in numbers of QSO's; not that I'm there yet, but I know that the bigger the log the longer it takes to load (and the bigger the file size!!!) 73 Dave G3NKC PS - I left Kosovo (or Kosova!) off my country list; I'll wait for a positive indication before I even think about adding it !!! -Original Message- From: Thorvaldur Stefansson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 16 February 2008 17:35 To: Dave Sharred Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Multiple QSOs change on QSO NOTES - Group Numbers Dave, I have more than 30 groups, operations from several dxcc countries and multiple callsigns from within TF all in the same log file (TF4M.DXL). When filtering by Group the F8 search option is not used, rather you use SELECTION which you previously define to choose between the call signs. This way, you can create a selection which covers all your operations from a certain dxcc entity for example your GD operations and you will then have all DX4WINs reporting available for that group. You should import your various GD operations into your main log, each into their separate groups. You can then open the SAME CALL window and you will see there previous contacts with a station and the call you used to make the QSO. Even if you import the GD logs into your main log, they stay separate when you start using the SELECTION feature. 73 Thor, TF4M On 16/02/2008, Dave Sharred [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi All; I maybe missed the point, but I really wonder what you guys are doing to even think about running out of Group numbers. I don't understand anyone's need really to group by year or by contest; since you would still need to do a search operation (F8) to filter by Group. You might as well do a search by date in that case. I use Groups in my main log to differentiate from G3NKC and G3NKC/P, and I think I set up GQ3NKC - so call sign variants. For my GD contest operations, I currently hold separate logs for GD0EMG, MD6V, and MD4K; even though I have been thinking about the merits of merging those logs (might be nice to see a complete DXCC achievement, for instance); but I often think these would be outweighed by the overhead when doing the QSLling chores (when someone requests a card, I normally QSL all QSO's with our particular contest call. I might end up selecting QSL's for all call's; meaning I have 3 labels that would have to go on 3 cards). [Dx4win] More on DXCC submission and LOTW
I know that this is an old thread; I have trawled my emails and don't have the answer though ! In May, Jim, AD1C replied to a note from Tony Lord concerning some DX4WIN/LOTW shortfalls. I show it for completeness before I describe what I am trying to do. = Hi Tony, There is where both DX4WIN and LoTW fall short - there is no path to get LoTW submissions marked as submitted or checked in DX4WIN. You will have to manually mark the 96 LoTW entities as Submitted in DX4WIN (you can see the award flags after hitting F5 in the QSO window enough times). After these are checked by ARRL, then you can use the Change Award Flags menu to set them to Checked. Then to make sure everything matches, download my program to compare your DX4WIN records to LoTW: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/dx4wlotw.htm If there are any mistakes, correct them (you can correct DX4WIN but not LoTW). The next time you have to submit, you will have to go through this process again, but there should be fewer entities to worry about. === OK. I am running DX4WIN 6.04, by the way. I want to convert my LOTW to DXCC credits; and understand the notes above. I changed an entry to Submitted and even to checked; but , it is not reflected in the scores within DX4WIN; unless the QSL box is checked. At least this is what happens on DX4WIN 6.04 . Is there any difference with V7 ??? I know that I can change the behaviour in the Preferences screen (Confirmed QSO's); but, if I select Card or Upload; I know that I can't go backwards, since this causes DX4WIN to write a Y in the QSL field. I still want to keep track of real QSL's, since I still need these for other awards. But I want the reports for DXCC to should paper QSL and LOTW confirmations. Am I right that there is no solution to this yet ? 73 Dave G3NKC

[Dx4win] NEW COMPUTERS USB INTERFACE
Hello Oms I bought the micro Ham device. This does rig interface, CW keying, and I believe supports data modes also, but I haven't used it yet. It's a bit expensive, but it is well made; I bought the lead option also, which is quite heavy duty, and a lot of care is taken to minimise RFI (ferrites fitted as standard) Whether it is important in DX4WIN I am not sure, but the MicroHam also has a PTT control out. The only problem I have found in Writelog, is that if you set PTT control in CW (useful if you want to avoid hot switching, but I never bothered in any other program), the first character in CW sometimes gets corrupted. I believe it is a timing problem in the MicroHam. I turned off PTT control altogether, all is fine. Haven't checked this when using DX4Win, but I expect the problem will be the same. 73 Dave G3NKC -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of PY5EG Sent: 18 February 2006 10:27 To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'; Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Dx4win] NEW COMPUTERS USB INTERFACE Hi Friends: I'm a frequent user of DX4WIN and Writelog interfaced by old lap tops with COM ports ,sending CW by LPT1.
