[Dx4win] WINKEY and DX4WIN Question

2009-06-05 Thread Joe Giacobello
I've just gone back to using WINKEY with the DX4WIN keyboard, and it is
working very well. However, when I change speeds using the + or -
commands, the increments (decrements) are in steps of 5 WPM rather than
2 WPM as with the basic DX4WIN keyboard. Is there any way of changing
the size of the steps so that they are smaller?

[Dx4win] Using CW Keyboard for Two Radios

2009-05-27 Thread Joe Giacobello
I have been using DX4WIN's CW keyboard via LPT1 for years. I would like
to be able to use it with a second radio, and it seems that I can do so
without having to build a second interface. However, I am mystified by
this instruction in DX4WIN's CW help file:

Radio 1/2 signal:

When a LPT port is selected, the Radio2 line will be active when the
second radio is selected, and inactive when the primary radio is
selected. When using the LPT port to control the DX Doubler 2-radio
selection (LPT pin 14), you must select that LPT port in the CW
preferences page, even if you are not using the LPT port to send CW.
Otherwise the polarity of pin 14 will be reversed.

It seems to imply that when the second radio is selected (as the radio
that DX4WIN is controlling) that pin 14 is activated and the CW keyboard
is switched to the second radio. I can't visualize how this can be done
even if I were using two separate interfaces. I also haven't the
vaguest idea what DX Doubler 2-radio selection means even after
searching for it in the HELP files.

If anyone can explain what's meant here and how to use the keyboard with
two radios, I'd be most appreciative if you would illuminate me.

Thanks and 73,

Joe

Re: [Dx4win] SignaLink USB

2009-05-27 Thread Joe Giacobello
Mel and others, I have had an almost identical problem. I am using an
external USB sound card for the digital modes, and I had wanted to also
use the internal sound card on my motherboard for DX announcements and
other computer applications. I tried any number of settings in the
control panel 's SOUNDS menu in which either the internal card was
declared, the external card was declared or one was declared for voice
and the other for audio and vice versa. I could never get both cards to
work simultaneously. I finally gave up and use the external card for
the digital modes and forgo all other computer sound sources.

The external card is declared in the control panel and I have selected
card number 0 in the DX4WIN preferences. If I declare the internal card
in the control panel, then it works and the external card doesn't even
when I switch DX4WIN to card 1 for the digital modes. It's been a long

little dim, but if anyone has any suggestions to get them both working,

USB Audio CODEX. Then returned to DX4Win and selected Default. All works
OK now except no DX announcements - a secondary consideration - in fact I
needed to change Preferences/Packet1/DX Alerts to None to prevent a spot

I will leave well enough alone for now but still want to see if I can get

closing lines of the QSL, and I know that I can also print the group

I have already declared the IT9/K2XX QSOs as a separate group and
imported them into a separate log. Normally when a QSL label is
printed, it starts the label with K2XX confirming QSO with and then
the call of the recipient station is inserted. What I would like to do
is replace K2XX with IT9/K2XX in the preceding phrase. Changing the
greeting menu entries doesn't affect this phrase. Or am I missing
 something?

[Dx4win] CPU Usage

2008-03-07 Thread Joe Giacobello
Hello, John!

There is no doubt that Winkey solves the uneven keying problems.
However, I have been using the DX4WIN keyboard feature for the last ten
years or so and although the keying problem was often evident in the
earlier versions, the latest versions (7.xx) seem to be free of the
problem without requiring Winkey. I don't believe that there is
anything special about my computer, and I have several programs running
at the same time. It may be that some computers are being slowed down
by spyware, disk fragmentation, etc.

John Shaw wrote:

I recently upgraded to using it here and it is great for relieving CPU usage
issues. I can now continue to do other tasks on the computer while CW is
being sent, CPU usage doesn't even register, no hiccups or stutters. Not
that it was a big issue here, I found that sending CW would take priority
and other operations would suffer but with Winkey everything continues as
 normal.

Do a search and find out about it.

 Hi

I have installed Dx4Win on a fresh WinXP installation, trimmed it for max
performance. Hardware is a Compaq 550MHz with 640MB RAM

Using Dx4win transmitting CW, the CPU is around 80-90% of the time. If it
so happens that the Dx cluster receives a spot or two you can hear that the
timing of dot and dashes is messed up. Listning on the air, you can easy
hear other stations where the CW has the same funny timing - problerly
 using Dx4Win :=)

I would suggest that this issue be looked into, and a possible solution
 worked out.

It happens here, too. If I am transmitting RTTY when the CW spot comes,
it will slow down dramatically and possibly spoil the QSO. Otherwise I
have not noticed any ill effects.

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I've once again updated the CQ DX Marathon conversion program for 2007.
The latest release is version 1.11 and is dated 12 January 2008:

 http://dx4win.ad1c.us/marathon.htm

The direct link to the download is:

 http://dx4win.ad1c.us/download/MARATHON_20080112.zip

If you have not run the program yet this year, please make sure to read
ALL the instructions as they are slightly different from 2006:

1. You must use the latest version of the DX4WIN country file that
contains the new entity FJ, Saint Barthelemy

2. You must use release V6 or later of the 2007 Marathon Scoresheet.

3. The 2007 Marathon scoresheet has both Day and Month columns.
Depending on your Windows and/or DX4WIN settings, the file output from
the conversion program may have those two columns reversed. Versions
1.10 and newer of the conversion program should fix this automatically.

4. You must cut/paste the countries and CQ Zones into the marathon
spreadsheet SEPARATELY. The instructions on the web site tell you how.

5. You don't need to create a date filter, you can simply use F8 to
filter your log starting 01 January 2007.

If you have any trouble with the program, please let me know ASAP.
Remember, the submission deadline is 31 January 2008.

Isidro,

Thanks for pointing out both my unintended typo (writelog.ini) and the
fact that I should have changed the CW cutoff frequencies from within
Preferences.

Since I use both DX4WIN as my general logger and Writelog as my contest
logger, the typo was just a senior moment. But yes, the changes I made
directly to dx4win.ini apparently did not take effect; I will change
frequency limits in Preferences--I had forgotten that entirely.

 Hi Garry, and the Reflector...

Since I had reset the CW upper limit in writelog.ini as 7040 and then
reopened DX4WIN, I was surprised still to be seeing two different
colors of spots. So it must be that the CW upper frequency limit is
not a factor in DX4WIN's mode assessment, but QSX is, to the
 detriment of accuracy.

writelog.ini? You must change the CW cutoff in the DX4WIN's
preferences (File Preferences QSO CW frequencies cutoff).

If a spot has a mode note, DX4WIN will use it. If no mode is in the
spot, DX4WIN will use the CW cutoff frequencies.

DX4WIN does not use the .INI file directly.

DX4WIN stores all your preferences in SAVE\DX4WIN.CFG

From your preferences, you can export or merge (import) a .INI file. But it's
only an intermediate way to transfer preferences from one version of the
program to another (or to itself).

[Dx4win] Second Sound Card for PSK31

2007-12-24 Thread Joe Giacobello
This is an old thread, but I have just gotten around to trying to get a
second sound card working. Unfortunately, I have not been successful.

I am trying to use an external (Audigy) USB sound card together with an
internal card integrated with my mother board. I would like the to use
the external card for digital modes and the internal card for other
audio applications. I have selected 0 for my digital sound card in
the DX4WIN Control menu as suggested below. However, unless I specify
the external sound card for both record and playback in the Audio
menu of the Sounds and Audio Devices section of the XP Control panel,
the external card will not function in the digital modes. When the
external card is so specified, the internal card does not function even
though I have selected it in the Voice menu of the Sounds and Audio
Devices section.

I have tried various combinations of these options, but I can't get both
cards working simultaneously. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on
what I might be doing wrong here.

(BTW, I have observed than when one makes a change in the sound card
selected in the DX4WIN Control menu, the PSK31 window must be closed and
reopened before that change takes effect.)

[Dx4win] packet window

2007-05-01 Thread Joe Giacobello
There's a dividing line between the receive and send areas of the

Then move the cursor to expand or contract the windows. It might be

[Dx4win] how to connect to cluster from packet window?

2007-04-02 Thread Joe Giacobello
Tonno, what I do is simply go into the packet window and hit the RETURN
key three times. Since I have my preferred node at the top of the list
of packet nodes, I am connected to that node after the third RETURN.
When it asks for my logon call, I hit a function key that sends my call
followed by %M and I'm logged in.

That is the fastest way I know of connecting, but maybe somebody knows a
faster way.

Is it possible to memorize/automate this so that DX4WIN qould connect

How should I use the CONNECT function key? What is the syntax to be able to

[Dx4win] Printing Group Names 7.02.14 (Mea Culpa)

I had previously complained that when printing QSLs the group names were
not printing despite my using %% in the PREFERENCES-REP/LA setup

there is a check box in the initial PRINT QSL LABELS window that
controls whether group names are printed. I don't know in which version
this change occurred, but checking it seems to have solved the problem.
The change is not reflected in the HELP files.

[Dx4win] QSL card wastage

2006-06-07 Thread Joe Giacobello
I recently posted the following. Is it part of the same problem?

73, Joe

I have been having problem with v. 7.02 and QSL labels.

When I set the label parameters in Databases/Labels, some of the
conditions will not stay set. Specifically, if I uncheck COMMERCIAL
and check LINES and set the callsign font to bold and then save those
conditions and then reopen Databases/Labels, they've returned to
checked, unchecked and regular respectively. In addition, when I
include %% in the greeting in order to print the group name, the label
is printed with actual %% and not the group name.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I don't remember having these
problems with v. 6.xx.

the differences in keystrokes for the DX4WIN keyboard when going between
with and w/o WinKey?

73, Joe

Larry, thanks for your input and I was meaning to comment further on
this subject. Actually, the changes that were made at your request seem
to have nothing to do with the differences. (Frankly, I didn't know
about the additional prosigns until I reread the HELP files when I
started using WinKey with DX4WIN. I don't know in what version they
were added. I had wanted them too, but had made do without them. I am
using them now.)

I went back and checked the N4PY program with WinKey, and the prosigns
are different again there. Carl uses:

- for BT
+ for AR
$ for SK
^ for KN
* for AA

However, I believe Carl still uses the Orion internal keyer even with
WinKey, but I'm not sure. (I am in the middle of reviewing the WinKey
dox.) It may be that the prosigns are not fixed in the WinKey
firmware. If so, it would be a major improvement for DX4WIN if the
prosigns for both keyboard routines were made identical. Then one could
switch between them without much thought.

KN = go ahead only, keyboard
 AS = wait, keyboard
 HH = error, keyboard :
 AC = email @, keyboard @

I do not use Winkey, but wonder if the new prosigns are confusing what
 Winkey gets from the keyboard?

I just got version 7.02 working with Winkey, and it seems to work FB.

However, the single key shortcuts for the CW symbols are different
from the original DX4WIN keyboard. ! and * are inoperative.
= and @ still send BT and WR, but sends SK, sends AR and
: sends KN. Also, the speed changes with - and + are 5 WPM
rather than the normal 2 WPM for DX4WIN. I presume that these
features are hard wired into the WinKey firmware.

Except on rare occasions I had few timing problems with the original
DX4WIN keyboard, but I did have problems using the N4PY keyboard on
the Orion before TT made the latest firmware changes. (The N4PY
software used the Orion's internal keyer.) It turns out that I now
can run the DX4WIN keyboard on an LPT port and the N4PY keyboard with
WinKey on a COM port simultaneously. I am not sure how useful that
is, but it may be of interest to some. However, don't try to get
both programs to access WinKey. It causes a headache for DX4WIN
which requires a restart to return to normal behavior.

Joe,

At present Winkey can produce any prosigns or national characters by
merging present characters, (i.e. merging K and N would be -.--.).
However, this has to be coded by DX4Win as the user cannot do it on the
fly.

When upgrading to Winkey I lost Scandinavian special characters (? =
.-.- and ? = ---.) which are coded OK in the DX4Win integral keyer, but
if I need them I can switch Winkey off.

On my wish list is a setup matrix where all the characters could be
mapped according to anyone's wishes and keyboard layout.

Also, there is a Windows utility to change any key codes to any others -
however I cannot remember the name of this program. If someone can point

[Dx4win] QSL Printing Endless Loop w/6.04

2005-03-20 Thread Joe Giacobello, K2XX
I just tried to print some QSL's for the first time since upgrading to
v. 6.04. However, when I attempt to print, I get the message
generating pages with a counter that endlessly increments. I have a
vague recollection of having seen this problem before in earlier
versions, but I can't remember the solution. I'd appreciate any help.

Also, I notice that there is a new selection box in the PreferencesQSO
screen labeled Label. I can't find any reference to it in the HELP
file. I think it relates to eQSL?ng, but I'm not sure. I'd appreciate
an explanation from someone who's in the know.

[Dx4win] QSL Printing Endless Loop w/6.04

2005-03-20 Thread Joe Giacobello
Kenth, that doesn't work for me. You must be using a custom label
setup. I'm using a standard 8160 and the dimensions, etc. are fixed.

However, I did play around and by selecting custom label 1 and printing;
then returning to 8160, I was able to print normally without the counter
showing up. Why this worked, I have no idea. I'll see if it continues
to work.

Paul, is there a bug somewhere?

I had the same problem. The solution was to change value in the Vert Shift
box to a smaller number. I had vert shift 9,00 in the earlier version and
had to change it to 4,00 with the same label size. Curious but true. I
found that with the bigger value in Vert Shift the program get?s in a loop
when it?s impossible to print as many big labels as you have ordered.

[Dx4win] HamCall with DX4WIN 6.03

2004-11-07 Thread Joe Giacobello
Tony, I recently had a similar problem. I had 6.02 on a laptop and a
desktop and was using the QRZ database, which I had copied to my hard
drives. Everything worked FB on the desktop, but I kept getting a
QRZ32.dll file not found error. I tried everything known to man to get
it to work on the laptop, but without success. I then considered
reinstalling DX4WIN 6.02 on the laptop, but decided to just upgrade it
to 6.03. After the installation, everything worked flawlessly. Paul
had advised me that he knew of no problems that would be corrected by a
reinstallation, but it did indeed work. I vaguely remember one other
incident where I had to reinstall in order to cure a problem. Try
reinstalling DX4WIN.

Hi Peter,

I used to have Trlog as my contest logging program but is now using
Writelog. Anyhow, this is how you get your Trlog contacts into DX4WIN.

You have to convert the Trlog format of the log to ADIF format. I don't
remember if you can do that within the Trlog but try to go to Post contest
section of Trlog and check it out.

If that doesn't work you can download a separate ADIF converter and I
believe you can find a link on the Trlog website. If you can't find it there
do a search with Google or any other search engine and search for ADIF
converter. If that doesn't work either contact me directly as I believe I
still have the ADIF converter in my PC. Good luck!

Garry,

I have the same issue with RAC 2004 with respect to getting address labels.
What I do is, is to enter the call in the QSL manager window and then hit F3
to get the data from RAC. I then select the portion of the data I want to
use for the address and copy it using cntrl C and then close the RAC data
window. Then in the QSL manager window, I hit cntrl E and paste the address
data that I copied previously. This works, but is pretty cumbersome. If you
find a better way, I sure would like to know about it. I am thinking that it
is this way because there is a lot of extraneous data that comes from RAC
that is not pertinent to the needed address. You can see this below with
W1AW info brought up from RAC.

I have been a DX4WIN user for years, and have logged many thousands of QSO's
with it. However, until now, I have never attempted to print QSL labels with
the program. I am, in fact, more than four years behind in QSLing.:-(

It's time to catch up! I am using ver. 6.03

Since one must start somewhere, I have chosen as simple a starting point as
possible--a single contest log (2003 CQP) imported from Writelog. There are
only 44 QSL's to 32 individual stations to be printed, and all are direct. I
wish to print both QSL labels and mailing labels.

All QSO's appeared correctly in the Print Preview, but there were two
problems.

The first problem encountered was a non-WYSIWYG printer, whose page image is
a bit small. Not knowing how to adjust focus on an HP G95, I have
compensated for this by use of the Custom1 label selection, modifying
horizontal and vertical pitch of an Avery 5160 label to slightly expand the
page image. (If there is a better method, I would like to know it.)

The second problem is the reason for this message--I am not getting mailing
labels. Since all the QSL's are in response to direct mail--no managers--I
have entered each station callsign into the QSL Manager box in the QSO
window for each QSO, and I have checked Print QSL Managers in the
Intermediate Print Window.

I think the problem lies with my databases. I am using GOWIN Issue 286 and
a several year-old version of RAC,loaded on the hard drive. These display
results when the QSO window is active and F3 is pressed---but the display is
weird. Three windows come up: a GOWIN window with the data, a black DX4WIN
window under it--and a duplicate GOWIN window under that! Closing the black
DX4WIN window also closes the second GOWIN window; closing the top GOWIN
window closes all three.

The entries in the DX4WIN Preferences/Ext Data window are:

Data source: Flying Horse CD ROM
Data directory: C:\RAC
QSL Manager Search/EXE Executable Program:C:\Golist\GoWin.exe
Enabeled box: checked

I would appreciate some help here. Are RAC, GoWin or both damaged, or is
there another issue?

[Dx4win] EXT DATA Mystery

2004-09-06 Thread Joe Giacobello
I have been successfully using the RAC (Flying Horse) database on my
hard drive for several years to look up call signs through DX4WIN's EXT
DATA routine. This weekend I picked up a copy of QRZ's current database
and attempted to do the same thing, i.e copy the database to my HD and
access the callsign info from the HD. For some mysterious reason that
doesn't work.

Although I have declared C:\program files\qrz ham radio\callbk as my
data directory in the preferencesEXT DATA menu, I get a database not
found error. However, if I put the original CD ROM in my ROM drive, it
returns the proper information. In other words, despite my declaring
the C: drive as the data drive, DX4WIN is getting the data from the CD
ROM and refuses to access the C: drive when the CD ROM is removed.

I switched back to use the RAC database on my HD and that works fine.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

These boxes are part of the most powerful aspect of DX4WIN. When you
submit for an award (for example, Reports | DXCC | Submission), each QSO
that is selected for that award will get its Submitted box automatically
set. When a confirmation from the award manager comes in, you can manually
change Submitted to Checked, or use Reports | Change Award Flags to change
them all at once. While there are Submitted flags on, you will see them in
the listings and summaries.

A group number, 001 is the default, is set for each QSO. You have the
ability to create other named groups (the numbers increment) for you own
tracking purposes. For example, if I go into the CQ WW RTTY 2004 context, I
will create a new group for that and make it active. Each QSO I log will
contain that group number until I turn it off, or the dates I've specified
for that contest expire. Later, if I wish, perhaps, to export just those
QSOs, I can use the group number to select them. Other folks use other
calls while traveling to other countries and use a group number to keep
them, separate.

The Valid QSO box can be set if the DXCC committee decides that the station
you QSOed is not a valid one for that country. Perhaps he was a pirate or
did not obtain his license from the correct authority, for example. This
box checked will cause your QSO to be ignored for awards.

I haven't looked recently, but all of this information should be in the help
files.

When the QSO window is opened to its maximum size, at the bottom of the

There is also a Group and a Valid text box.

How do I make use of this array of textboxes?

[Dx4win] [Fwd: Capital Crime (External Data)]

2004-05-21 Thread Joe Giacobello

Ernie, this is a message I sent to the list back about four years ago.
It may be the source of your problem. Hope it helps!

73, Joe

Several months back I asked for some help when I no longer could access
my QRZ CD ROM through DX4WIN (v4.07). Although it had worked without
any problems up to that time through several versions of DX4WIN, I
suddenly started getting a database not found error. I never did
receive any useful suggestions and the problem went unsolved for six
months while I was QRT.

I just got back on the air and nothing had changed, i.e I could not
access QRZ via DX4WIN although it would work if I accessed it directly.
I eventually found that the problem was that I had changed the drive
letter for the Data Directory in the external database set-up menu
from upper to lower case. After I changed it back to a capital,
everything worked fine. Unlike the drive letter in the Executable
Program slot, the Data Directory letter does not automatically switch
to a capital when you enter a lower case drive letter.

I thought this info might be of use to others who may be having a
similar problem.

[Dx4win] PSK31

2004-04-21 Thread Joe Giacobello
Bill, I've only operated PSK31 a few times, but a simple way of checking
your system's receive function is to just connect a cable DIRECTLY from
the fixed audio output jack on the back of the MP to one of your sound
card audio inputs, e.g. Mike. You should be able to copy PSK31 with the
DX4WIN without a problem.

However, make sure that your sound card controls are properly setup. I
am using W98 here and you have to go into the audio menu either through
the control panel (Multimedia) or the volume (speaker) control icon at
the bottom of your screen. If I remember correctly, you have to adjust
the parameters under Recording to optimize PSK receive. Also, make
sure that the audio input that you're using on the sound card is
activated, i.e not muted. I'll bet the problem lies in these controls.

[Dx4win] EXT DATA -- from QRZ.com on line

Tod, I went through similar frustration several months ago and it was
discussed on the reflector. When accessing a call from the web, the
information is not displayed in the EXT DATA window as one would
expect. Frankly, I forget the all the details and symptoms at this
time, but I think what happened is that DX4WIN opened up one's web

just fine.

I decided to see about using the Version 6.02 feature that allows one to do
a Website Call sign Lookup (page 33 of the Version 6.0, January 2003
Manual). There is a reference to a field labeled callsign which I
interpret to be the one labeled Website callsign address on the EXT DATA
popup window for setting parameters in my version of 6.02 . When I try to
use the example shown for accessing QRZ.COM I get no result displayed. If I
change back to use one of the CD ROM databases the call sign information
appears immediately (as it normally does). I have tried a number of
alternatives with no success. I do use DXTELNET spotting and have no problem
getting it to perform properly in Version 6.02.

My question is: Is there a bug with respect to the Website Callsign Lookup
option or is this simply a case of cockpit error? There is a follow on
question if the answer is cockpit error -- Has this been discussed
before and the answer provided somewhere in the archives? And a final follow
on query -- if it is in the archives does anyone have a guess as to what

[Dx4win] Casual Contesting with DX4WIN

2004-01-26 Thread Joe Giacobello
Milan, if you check Special Keys CW/RTTY in the QSO window's menu, you
can send stored contest exchanges that you have recorded under the CW
window's function keys 1-8 directly from the QSO window without
switching to the CW window. I'm sure this feature was intended for
streamlining contest exchanges and logging.

   1. First, hit F9 to switch to real time logging.
   2. Then bring up the QSO Window menu and check Special Keys CW/RTTY.
   3. Now when you hit any of the F1-F8 keys while in the QSO window,
the stored CW message corresponding to those keys will be sent.
   4. If you want to use the original QSO window's commands that
corresponded to those F1-F8 keys, you will have to precede the
F-key with shift or uncheck Special Keys CW/RTTY.

the CW PTT. This suits me just fine, but apparently it creates problems
for others...

Mel, thanks for your help, and you were partially correct.
By reducing
the font size from 9 to 6, I was able to have the tab headings show
their proper labels. However, I still don't get the options that the
manual says I should. The manual says than under TX I should get a
the options for NET and TX Keying. TX Keying then should have
check boxes in a submenu for VOX, CW Interface and
Serial Ports 1
thru 8. I get no TX Keying option at all! I get instead a check
box for Use CW Control. Something is haywire here, because I can't
select the COM port for my interface.

I should add that I am using version 6.02 and my manual is
for 6.0. I
am not aware of any updates for the manual.

Thanks again.

[Dx4win] Telnet issues

2003-09-16 Thread Joe Giacobello
I occasionally connect to the cluster via telnet through K4JA. I am
typically disconnected after a prolonged period of inactivity (six or
more hours or so). I just assumed that was normal node behavior in
order to prevent too many inactive people from staying connected and
tying up computer resources. Apparently, that is not the case with Jim.
I am using a DSL connection through a networked LAN also. What's going
on then?

This same interface has served me well in two contests, using N1MM Logger.

I can't get it work with DX4WIN though. When sending CW, it simply keys the

I feel that my interface should work, as it is the same circuit described in

Any advice will be much appreciated!

This is annoying since you use the ALT key to change the

[Dx4win] File Merge Problem: Gibberish in Call Notes

2002-01-24 Thread Joe Giacobello, K2XX
Dear List Members:

I recently used my laptop to log some QSOs as HS0ZCK during a recent
trip to Thailand. When I got home, I merged these QSOs as a new group
with my K2XX file on my shack desktop computer using the DX4WIN file
merge commands. Ever since I did the merge, I have gibberish in the
Notes for this Call area of the QSO window. The gibberish is:
/stonDWF8C, and the D is in red with the rest in black. It appears
whenever I hit F9 to log a QSO in real time and disappears when I start
to enter a call into the QSO window.

I tried merging the HS0 log into my K2XX backup file and the same
gibberish appeared in the same place. However, since I didn't save the
merged files in this case, the gibberish problem can be reversed by
simply deleting the merged HS0 QSOs. In the case of my main K2XX file,
where I did save the HS0 QSOs, the gibberish problem cannot be reversed
by deleting the HS0 merged files.

Does anyone have an idea of what's going on here and how I can correct
the problem? (BTW, both computers are using version 5.03 of DX4WIN.)

Thanks for your help.
