If you want to run under about 25 wpm, you can use diodes in the plug to make it Auto-Detect. Then switching from keyer to computer and back is easy. I run mine with a stereo splitter and both are hooked up simultaneously. However, to answer the question you asked, ADET ON/OFF is a menu choice

I can't believe that the bands are as dead as I perceive them to be ... I just finished Part 2 of my K2 assembly. Everything looks fine - calibration went smoothly. I threw together a temporary 1/2 wave dipole that I have lying on the floor. I kind of expected to hear more activity on 40 meters.

If you have a squeeze key you can wire the dash paddle through 2 diodes to the tip and the ring of the phone plug and leave the dot paddle to the dot line. You can then emulate a bug on the K2 if you have it set for auto-key-detect. I haven't tried it...I was never very good with a bug above
