I wrote two weeks or so ago about a very sick FelV kitten who was
anemic and had lost control of her back legs, and her bladder. We
took her to the vet and he felt she was in the last stages of FelV,
with little or no hope for recovery. She was 9 months old and only
weighed 3 and a half pounds.
Lorrie,
It sounds like a congenital heart problem. Sure doesn't sound like anything
related to FeLV.

My Tiny died this way. He was pretty much asymptomatic. Other than initial
treatment he never required antibiotic or all the measures I too for Junior.
On Christmas day 2006 I knew he was not feeling good, but it was not such
that I would have taken him to a vet even if it was a regular day. I
Well, he ate the broth of the canned chicken I had (regular people Tyson
white meat canned chicken) and then he ate 3 or 4 bites of the actual meat.
This
morning he's done the same thing. No cat food but he'll drink that broth and
eat some of the meat. He's much perkier today and as far as
Hi Sidney,
Hi Sidney, I know you said you are not really familiar with kitties
and there needs so this is an FYI to help, please don't give any broth
that you have bought in the store to a cat, it almost certainly contains
onion as part of the flavoring and onion is very deadly to cats,
This is just canned chicken, not broth, and the can says 100% canned chicken.
It doesn't say anything about any spices.

Important to keep him eating his normal amount of foodto avoid liver
failure. I didn't know this when I was pleased with a few bites of chicken.
Please get more info at Feline Assisted Feeding (yahoo group) about this.

Hello Marisol, I would be sure to give him something- mushy food on your
finger, if you don't have a syringe.

Try the Gerber baby food-2nd stage. Also, if you get some raw chicken (dark
meat is fine--wings, legs, etc), just boil it up in a bit of water--nothing
added. Then you can give him the broth and the chicken.

It's ok, I'm not going to give it to him anymore. Sorry guys, I didn't mean
to create a fuss or this much discussion! I know I've done wrong now. I won't
do it again.

It's not a matter of being wrong. We are all learning as we go. You have a

Amanda,
I was saddened to read that your cat has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I'm new
to caring for FeLV+ kitties. The oldest of my 6 positive kitties are just a yr
old. I really don't think feeding some canned cat food as a treat caused his
death. Many of us feed canned cat food.

Amanda -- Chris is absolutely right. I don't think there is anything you
can do to prevent lymphoma. You can beef up the cat's system so it can
withstand a lot of things like colds and other sicknesses that aren't
harmful to healthy cats but can be dangerous to FeLV+'s, but they ARE very
Just to clarify the information regarding Pepcid. Only use the Original
Strength Pepcid AC or famotidine, the generic version. For most kitties 2.5 mg
every other day is the recommended starting point. Some kitties need up to 5
mg per day. A lot depends on what other health issues a cat has
I've used Zantac, btw, I think 1/4 tablet.

it is a fast acting, vicious disease. even human doctors don't know much about
it. when i got it in 2000, there were only 2 known chemos that worked
sometimes. i went thru both of them and when they
