It's now been just over two months since Tommy died. My heart is ready to
welcome home a new kitten. My other two cats have tested negative for FeLV
(yay!!). Is there anything special I need to do to make sure the virus isn't
still on toys, bedding, etc? I did wash the bedding, and I'm going to
It's been challenging trying to figure out what was wrong with Tommy's mouth. A
couple months back, I wrote to this group about Tommy, my FeLV+ boy, batting at
his mouth. At first we thought he might have a bad tooth, but all of his teeth
look okay. Yesterday, he went to see his holistic vet
This past week, my one year old FeLV+ kitty (Tommy) started pawing at the left
side of his face. I suspected an ear infection, so I took him to his holistic
vet. His ears were clean and had no inflammation. The ONLY thing she saw was
some inflammation around one of his back teeth where some
for that disease.
Good luck!

I'm very familiar with this video ... love it! I had no idea he has FeLV.
What a great cat, and a great cat dad.

Hi Iva,
I just wanted to tell you how much I can relate to your dilemma. Last year,
I brought Tommy home and successfully introduced him to his new brother and
sister, only to find out that he was FeLV+. I was given the same two
options - separate or euthanize. I can only tell you what I did.
to long to separate negative/positive kitties?
My holistic vet prescribed various meds to reduce stress including
Rescue Remedy and Feliway. Perhaps yours has some ideas along those
lines?

Jody, I am Tommy's mom. I heard through another friend that Darcy has been
having trouble. I have nothing to offer, but I just wanted you to know that
you and Darcy are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Avia! I am the other person you talked to. :) The Vetri-DMG was
given to Tommy by his holistic vet, along with the homeopathic
antiviral. Will it get rid of the FeLV? I have no idea. All I can
say is that I've talked to others who had cats test positive
initially, and then negative
A laser spay is most definitely an option! I had them use a laser
for Tommy's neuter, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's a bit more
expensive, but sooo worth it. He had no pain and recovered like
it was nothing. I know spays are much more involved, but I have heard
good things
Tommy tested positive at 3 1/2 months old.
He is seeing a holistic vet, who gave him Vetri-DMG (an immune
system booster) and a homeopathic mixture of antivirals. The
homeopathic meds are Galium and Engystol. His holistic vet
recommended that I get him vaccinated one more
My FeLV+ kitten, Tommy, continues to do wonderfully! He is active
and playful, and has a tremendous appetite. He will be neutered on
January 29th - his holistic vet said to continue to give him the DMG
to help his immune system with the stress of surgery. She also gave
him a probiotic to help
that he is doing so well. Sounds like you have a
good holistic vet, very involved in what is going on with him. Keep
loving your little guy!

I took my kitten to a holistic vet, and she prescribed DMG
(dimethylglycine) to boost his immune system, as well as a
homeopathic antiviral mixture. I also give him (well, ALL my cats) a
food high in protein, make sure I wash my hands after I get home from
work, don't let him touch my
You didn't get it because your immune system was strong enough to
fight it off. Hospitalized patients are the ones that are at risk for
getting c-diff. I could probably take care of a hundred patients with
it and not get it. The reason we (nurses) wear gowns when taking care
of these

of germ

No, Tonya ... he has no symptoms except for the diarrhea. I took him
to a holistic vet yesterday who started him on some homeopathic
antivirals and DMG. They are also eating a high protein food - 46% -

I am taking my kitten, Tommy, to a holistic vet this morning. After
speaking with her yesterday, I am very encouraged! Like some of you
have told me, she said that a separation would be too stressful on
ALL of the cats, which is the worst thing for their little immune
systems.
Oh, so you have him on the Immulan! My holistic vet gave me info on
that, but has never used it before, so I am still thinking about
it. Would you mind sharing cost info with me?
Tommy was started on two new medicines - DMG to boost his immune
system, and a homeopathic mixture
Thank you Marylyn and ALL! I have decided that I want to explore the
holistic vet option. I have been in e-mail contact with one holistic
vet in my area, and am going to set up an appointment. I may have to
wait a while for our first appointment, though.

My kitten tested positive on his IFA test. My vet told me I should

I am at work and I just thought of something. I am a nurse and come
in contact with human bugs all the time. Is it logical for me to
think that I should NOT let ANY of my cats come in contact with my
clothes or shoes when I come home? Or are the human bugs not a risk
for them.

Forti-Flora will be fine for a kitten. I used it successfully with

I am rushing out and will write more later.
