that's 23 years old this month. Of course it can't import a lot of
formats created later. Which includes variants of formats such as

There must be an editor that writes out a generic jpg, no matter what kind of
jpg is read into it. Thus my suggesting to use a variety of editors to open the
file and saveAs jpg again. I would start with photoshop, an older version if
you have one.

I would open and save the jpg in a number of graphics programs and see if one
of them saves the jpg in a way that allows it to be imported. I've never had
trouble importing jpgs in FrameMaker in 5.5.6 unless there was actually
something wrong with the file (and I worked with that version a very
, 5.00.2195 on a VirtualBox virtual machine.
4. I am running FrameMaker 5.5.6.p145.
I can reconfirm the error message occurs on importing some images, but not all.
I don't understand the difference
between them, and I haven't come up with a work around.

IIRC, WinNT locked files upon writing them to CD, which may be why you found
that the files were locked on such vintage Fm files.

It's just a warning message that one or more component files in the
book have a Conditional text setting that is inconsistent with the
others. It's not a big deal.
I forget if you can apply Conditional text settings to all files in a
book in 7. If you can, select 'em all and do it. If not, pick
