Re: [Audyssey] Accessible Game Devices

2008-11-04 Thread Liam Erven
I've been considering writing something for x box just to say I've done it,
but there'd be no demand.
Plus. It's true there are fees involved. It's expensive, and not worth it.

I'm writing a game using the XNA framework which allows it to run on both a
PC and X BOX 360. Like Liam said, the problem isn't the technology, it's the
demand. It's very possible for me to release the game on the X BOX, but it
would likely be the only one of its kind. People are unlikely to buy an X
BOX just for one game. Also, to get a commcerial game on the x box requires
you to pay a licensing fee and royalty sharing with Microsoft. It's just not
a viable business outlet unforutnately. Not unless you only did it only for
altruistic purposes.

Hi.

i'd personally love someone to do a basic tutorial about Vip mud, ---
something for complete Mud newbies. I tried it, but found things a litle
confusing to say the least, and I must say the manual wasn't great.

of course, this could just be me being an absolute thicko, but there are
really careful and great walkthroughs and reviews for audio games, even
complex ones like Sarah and Rail racer, so something similar for vip mud
would be great i think.

oh and yes, i heard the demo on blind cool Tech, but again, while it
showed up a bit about creating trigger or whatever, i would've liked
something more basic than that, - an intro to muds in general and vip
mud in particular.

Beware the Grue!

aah.
well I have sent my board configs to the list and jim, the stuff is semi layed
out, I got the railroads ok as boardwalk and park place, but I probably have
the rest mangled.
At any rate jim can decide what needs doing or someone that can remember the
entire layout I have not done a board before either.
but its a slow day here on the network, some spybot updates that don't kload
and some document converters which are quick to load, but really I digress.

A Popular game that our sighted friends play is BeJewled. It's a game
where
you have a grid of different colored jewels. YOu have to make them line
up
so that three or more are the same color. this clears a line and puts
more

jewels on the board.
I was trying to figgure out if something like this would be possible for
the
blind. the game is pretty straight forward, but I'm gonna see if I can
make

that. obviously Ihave to give it a different name, but.. what do yall
think?

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah game.

2008-11-04 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Chris,
As an owner of both Shades of Doom and Sarah I personally don't see any
similarities between the two games besides the fact they are both First
Person style games and the fact they use the same engine. I'd be
interested to know why you think they are similar.
As a developer myself I am currently writing a fully qualified game
engine along the lines of the GMA Engine, but with a full 3D
environment. The advantage of a game engine is that a developer can
quickly build and produce games faster. The down side is that the games
will share things like some basic keyboard commands, common menu
systems, etc. That may turn people away thinking the games are too much
alike even though it is intentionally designed that way to put games
together faster by having to avoid recreating the wheel so to speak.

Chris Hallsworth wrote:
I personally don't like Sarah but maybe it's because I just need some
tips on playing it. It just seems so similar to Shades of Doom that I
don't know why PCS Games/Draconis Entertainment "re-invented the wheel".

[Audyssey] monopoly board layout

2008-11-04 Thread shaun everiss
Hi.
Ok guys I have the info to create the monopoly board and custom layouts.
However I need to see how the origional board file is layed out, ie what all
the stuff is layed out.
are all the layouts like colours in order or what.
If I make modifications to the custom file can I make a custom file named like
the board layout, ie monopolyboardbeetles and then monopolycustombeetles,
would it work or not.
I am quite board so I may try making this board and file mod for something to
do.

[Audyssey] sega cd, saturn, and dreamcast. also 3do!

2008-11-04 Thread constantine (on laptop)
Hi there

So I'm getting back into the video gaming spirit, and decided to ask if anyone
knows of any accessible games for the sega cd, saturn, dreamcast, or maybe the
panasonic 3do?

I'm not too sure about all of them- but am hoping to find more than 1 close to
accessible game for each. I can't believe the sega cd is stil going strong,
even after more than a decade - almost 2 decades, in fact! I expect the motor
will burn out on mine soon.

I really agree here. I am sure Vip has the potential to be the most
excellent client, but I too struggled with it too much, to stick with it. A
tutorial would be very excellent.

Hi.

i'd personally love someone to do a basic tutorial about Vip mud, ---
something for complete Mud newbies.

Dark.

Hi Chris,
It takes around 7 or 8 shots to kill Airbot. Shoot him in the usual way
when you hear him approaching you on your right. Once you have fired your
shot, you will hear his wicked laugh above your head. Scroll right as fast
as you can, and shoot again when he approaches you from your left side,
then scroll left once your shot has been fired. Keep shooting and
scrolling in this way until he is blown up.

 Hth.

Hi all, does anyone have any tips on passing level 1 in Super Liam? I get
stuck on a particular robot, in that I can't attack him, yet I can attack
the others up to that point at least. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi.

i'd personally love someone to do a basic tutorial about Vip mud, ---
something for complete Mud newbies.

Dark.

Hi Shaun,
I've looked. So far I can't find a listing of all of the properties on
the internet. how ever, as I mentioned in a previous post the properties
are named after Beatles records like Revolver and Octopus's Garden. I've
already looked at the game recently in the stores while doing Christmas
shopping and it is a bit different from your usual Monopoly set. You buy
records instead of properties and build listening parties and consert
halls.

In change reaction, the goal is to clear the bored where as in bejewled,
the
board always refills. Change reaction uses kind of a similar concept as
far

as chain reactions are concerned.

A Popular game that our sighted friends play is BeJewled. It's a game
where
you have a grid of different colored jewels. YOu have to make them line
up
so that three or more are the same color. this clears a line and puts
more
jewels on the board.
I was trying to figgure out if something like this would be possible for
the
blind. the game is pretty straight forward, but I'm gonna see if I can
make
that. obviously Ihave to give it a different name, but.. what do yall
think?

2008-11-04 Thread Thomas Ward

Hi Ron,
Yeah, I know. A few years back I tried playing it on my Atari 7800 and I
couldn't play worth spit after losing my vision. All I managed to do is
run off the road and straight into the road signs on the sides of the
track. G...
You can sort of do it if you go slow and try and stay on the track by
doing miner adjustments, but even if you manage to stay on the track and
finish the qualifyer at the speed you are going you can't win the race.
It is truly a game that requires vision to play, and split second timing
to take the lead on the track.

Re: [Audyssey] Sarah game.

2008-11-04 Thread dark

Hi Hana.

the Sarah game is a full 3D action and adventure audio game based on the
Harry potter series in which you play a girl called Sarah wandering around
Hogwarts castle.

you can find out about it from it's page on audiogames.net at
http://audiogames.net/db.php?id=Sarah+and+the+castle+of+witchcraft+and+wizardry

And of course download a demo and read about the game from it's own homepage
on www.pcsgames.net.

check it out, it's a really fantastic game!

Hth.

beware the Grue!

Re: [Audyssey] Accessible Game Devices

2008-11-04 Thread Liam Erven
Like stated before. It's not an issue of handling it. Both consoles can
handle most anything you throw at them. It's all about supply and demand.
Noone wants text to speech, and since the major demographic are sighted
people. Well there ya go.
Find a way to convince the sighted population that text to speech is an
asset, and maybe you'll see change.
I have a feeling that this will happen around the time the cubs win the
world series.

Sounds good but would the hardware cope with it? I don't think so.

Hi.
was wondering, as i had sight when i was younger, and played the arcade
style and the console based games, like Galaxian on the atari, mario
brothers, 1942, asteroids on the seiger, nintendo , etc.
so was wondering, would it be possible to have a external or internal
text

to speech screen reader on these consoles like the x box, play station 3,
psp, nintendo wii, ds, etc.
what do you think about this?
cheers Marvin.

[Audyssey] assistance finding a few sounds

2008-11-04 Thread Scott Shade
Hello all if someone could get with me privately off list I'd
appreciate it. I need help tracking down a few sounds to make some
modifications to a miriani sound pack. The person was switching over
from a monkey term pack and they had sounds in there for some kitchen
appliances and some bathroom appliances. If someone know's how to help
me obtain or has access to a good kiss sound that isn't to over the
top, a blender sound, a washer and dryer sound, a sink sound where the
water is running, and a toilet flushing sound, and can get them in mp3
I'd sure be greatful for the help. You can contact me privately so as
not to clutter the list. Thanks much,

Scott

Re: [Audyssey] Mach1 was exciting free games - are theresuch things?

2008-11-04 Thread Jim Kitchen

Hi Thomas,

I also very much liked Pole Position. Truthfully though I can't remember right
now if I played it on my Atari 2600 or 800 XL. I never had a steering wheel
for any of my Atari machines. So now that I do have one, Top Speed 2 is the
only driving game that I have ever played with one. I never saw the NASCAR
Thunder game. Sure did wear out the Atari joysticks playing Pole Position
though.

Hi Lisa,

I would very much like to see an adult monopoly board that you make.

You know how I am Lisa, so please do not make it so that it would offend me.

Seriously though, no way to keep kids from playing it if we share it on my

Re: [Audyssey] Super Liam tips

2008-11-04 Thread David Standen

Hi Chris,
It takes around 7 or 8 shots to kill Airbot. Shoot him in the usual way
when you hear him approaching you on your right. Once you have fired your
shot, you will hear his wicked laugh above your head. Scroll right as fast
as you can, and shoot again when he approaches you from your left side, then
scroll left once your shot has been fired. Keep shooting and scrolling in
this way until he is blown up.
