So, from what I've read, gitlab is very popular because you can self-host
and the CI capabilities there are built in. As I look at migrating several
several old mechanical ways to manage code inhouse, gitlab does look
appealing. I do see a variety of packages in via remote overlays::

on as you update, for any other gotchas.
Sometimes a fresh install is a good idea. Make sure all your system
fans are in place and running to keep the system cool as you compile.

walking through the @system packages, no gui. That ways it's very fast.
The only problem I encounterd was some packages where not found, so I fixed
that manually. I walked one up form 2006 and (3) from 2008 old vintage
32 bit intel/amd systems.

H. Anthony (bluen...@gentoo.org) is extraordinarily knowledgable
with uclibc and related issues. So that is where I would seek clarity,
advice and pathways for what you seek [1].
