Re: [hlds] Server crashing....

Is it the mdmp files or the results from the files? You could at least
try to figure out yourself about how to read those files. Read the
earlier answers, theres instructions for how to read them. Sometimes
you cant expect other people to do the things for you, you will have
to do it by yourself. People may not have time for it (maybe real lige
stuff, or running their own GSP like i do). You are saying that its
only containing bots.. Do you have DEP turned off?

2009-12-23 Thread Ratman2000
Hello,

i have an own GSP so i notice many crashes per day!
It occures faster when you use bots! And now, i dont like to turn any option
off
becouse its an GameServer Function... Its the same when you say: The AWP
crashes the server, so turn it off..
But its part of the game, so i like to play the game with all the
funktions... So when DEP forces the crash, than
valve has to fix it! I dont do it my self becouse its part of the game!

You know what i mean?

only, all on CT side - 4 humans vs 20 bots - all for laughs) as well.
Definately not a vanilla install, but it never crashes ...

If sourcemod or something not from Valve is on the top of the stack, it's

How can i read crash files that end with .mdmp? My servers are crashing
every 2-3 hours sometimes more and everytime they crash they generate a
 file
 similar to Steam__273447__2009_12_21T5_18_51C21205187.mdmp in the
orangebox folder. I am hosting these servers on a windows box. I would like
to mention that these crashes did start right after the latest update from
valve. I have looked at my plugins and server logs and everything looks
normal, nothing sticks out that might cause a crash... Any help will be
 appreciated

I'm using the minidumpview that was mentioned earlier. I get a wall of text
in a command prompt window. There's a section called Exception Information,
which I assume to point to the culprit, but I can't decipher it. Looks like
this:

There follows a list of loaded modules, but I don't know how to correlate
the above with any of them. I should probably just see about getting Visual

I followed the link that Tony Paloma provided above:

If you don't have Visual Studio, you can try minidumpview:

Doesn't seem to be any way to introduce any specific symbol files into the
mix there. Like I said, it's probably time to get VS anyway.

[hlds] Server crashing....

2009-12-21 Thread Attaul N

How can i read crash files that end with .mdmp? My servers are crashing every
2-3 hours sometimes more and everytime they crash they generate a file similar
to Steam__273447__2009_12_21T5_18_51C21205187.mdmp in the orangebox folder.
I am hosting these servers on a windows box. I would like to mention that these
crashes did start right after the latest update from valve. I have looked at my
plugins and server logs and everything looks normal, nothing sticks out that
might cause a crash... Any help will be appreciated

Re: [hlds] Server crashing....

2009-12-21 Thread Tony Paloma
If you have Visual Studio, you can open it with that and get a stack trace.
You'll only see DLL names though since you don't have the debug info.

If you don't have Visual Studio, you can try minidumpview:
http://www.debuginfo.com/tools/minidumpview.html

If sourcemod or something not from Valve is on the top of the stack, it's
definitely a plugin problem.

Re: [hlds] server crashing in the last week or so

2009-06-21 Thread Dog
We are running the latest version of SM on all our servers, Windows and
Linux.
Even on a server with no mods or addons, the server will still crash, for no
apparent reason, although it seems to happen more frequently on servers that
run pl_maps or pipeline. We have one particular Windows server that is
driving us nuts with its instability, yet it has pretty much the same
configuration as the others.
Any mdmps seem to be engine related.

Well we worked with Beetlefart on the Windowz version and since applying .89
we've had no crashes or other weird behavior on our live game server. I have
also put it on my vanilla test server without any changes and it's been running
since applied. I looked at those threads in the BM forums and to me it looked
like there may be some config changes needed,
(bm_UseForcedRespawnforFastRespawn 0
in the default.cfg was one), but then all is good. We haven't really tested
out all functions yet (will be done as we use it). Of course your milage may

[hlds] Server Crashing After Update

2009-05-22 Thread CLAN RCR
I'm using Windows 2008, and previously had absolutally no issues with this
server. I am running the SourceMod 1.1.0 and am unsure what is causing this
error. We have an identical server that has been solid as a rock. The server
with the issue will stay up for 30 minutes .. 1hr and then just die.

The error I'm getting is in a dialog box as follows:

Bad entity in IndexOfEdict() index -642056 pEdict 0F5B0F70 sv.edicts
101F0010

If anyone has any ideas.. It would be great to hear them.

Also, our 2fort server is crashing also, but I think it's a different error.
The 2forr server will only stay up for 3 minutes before crashing.

Thanks guys!

I've been advised that SourceMod 1.2.1 is where you want to be at a
minimum. It took care of a few problems I was having when I updated, though

Re: [hlds] Server Crashing After Update

2009-05-22 Thread Arg!
You can use official 1.2.0 with the gamedata files from 1.2.1 that will fix
core.

3rd party extensions such as dukehacks are broken and need updates.
RunTeamLogic has a new gamedata file on the sourcemod forums which should
fix it.

Re: [hlds] Server Crashing After Update

2009-05-22 Thread David Anderson
Hi Ronny,

If only things were that easy!

Most of SourceMod does interact through the stable interfaces provided
by the engine. In fact, I can't recall any instance where this broke
from an update.

However we also expose some hacky innards which can break. It's not
anyone's fault, it's just the nature of the work. I think users
appreciate that we make this (very valuable) functionality available and
work to get update-parity fairly quickly.

Also remember that plugins can do whatever they want, and depending on
what they do, they are just as susceptible to update breakage. Rather
get cranky about this, we just accept this aspect of software
development and work to improve the plugin community.

We run a 24/7 ORANGE_X3 server. Windows based, Beetle's MOD is the only plugin.
Server is crashing with BM enabled, but runs fine without it. Basically use it

are neither, the server crashes. Any other server ops seeing this?

Re: [hlds] Server crashing on certain custom TF2 maps?

2008-12-07 Thread Gregory Matherne
Not sure how they might do that, you have to go to viewing something once
you die and if everyone is dead that is an issue with no view points. I
think the simple fix to get map makers to always have one view point, even
if it looks into a black hole.

You could try this:

It basically creates a random info_observer_point if the map doesn't have

2008-12-05 Thread Brandished
If you don't mind me asking, what were the names two offending custom maps?
I'd like to have a look at their entity set-up.

I've put some tutorials together in the past for the VDC and TF2maps in the
past and have tried to get a list of problem causers together for mappers so
they know what to avoid.  I know the melee only maps had been a problem in the
past after the medic update due to the weapon removal process inside the maps.

not but not always. Only on custom maps.

 info_observer_point entities (for example cp_lazytown, ctf_snowfort,
 cp_wolf, cp_snowbridge, achievementbox, cp_orange_x, cp_orange_cross2, among
others). The crash supposedly happens when an entire team dies in a small
interval of time during a match, leaving them all in a waiting to respawn
status. I've been doubtful as to how true this is, but I haven't been able
to recreate the crash scenario myself as I don't have the bandwidth to host
a dedi for more then maybe 4 ~ 6 players at once. Supposedly on a dedicated
server, it will try to force you to spec a teammate or camera, and if there
are neither, the server crashes. Any other server ops seeing this?

Been seeing this too, crashes more often than not for me when I was testing
yesterday. Took off all mods...same thing.

Anyone have any idea for a fix?

[hlds] Server crashing...something goes wrong on restart.

2007-11-08 Thread Cc2iscooL
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my Team Fortress 2 dedicated server.
Occasionally, the server will hard crash (as all servers do) but when it
hard crashes, when I try to reboot it (without updating with -verify_all
first) VAC protection is disabled (enabled but disconnected from Steam3) and
icons do not show up for people not in my friends list. I have to stop the
server, run the updater with -verify_all, and restart the server for VAC and
icons to return properly. Does anyone know why the server might be doing
such on a hard crash? Is there a way I can prevent this from happening? It
is quite irritating having to update the server every time it hard crashes
(and as of recent it seems it's been doing so more often, so even more a
reason for me to figure this out.) This has been happening every time the
server has hard crashed since the TF2 beta release. Is there any known
method of fixing it or debugging it?

Thanks for any help,
Cc2iscooL

Step 1) Update Server.
2) Server Crashes
3) Read up to the minute E-mail and see what other Host are finding
4) Remove all 3rd Party Add-ons.
5) Try Server without Add-ons.
6) Server Crashes.

Operating System WinX64 Pro - Seems the moment the server starts to run.. It
dies before it can get off the Ground with out the Addons.

FireDaemon even with the windows controls in the latest versions still
hangs if you use CONSOLE of your 2003 server.

We had to make this change in order to get it to stop waiting for a

I think the key was supposed to read:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows

And the documentation is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;128642

This will not prevent a hang, however it will prevent a crash from
waiting for user input before continuing. I can imagine that some
automatic-restart systems might suffer if this option is not set to
2, however those systems are likely built improperly.

Re: [hlds] Server crashing?

2005-10-12 Thread Bud Ingram
[xXx]infexXxious clan, I hope you're not limiting the diagnosis to just
Sprout...

I suspect that the problem I am having is processor based... But I cannot
confirm it without putting a more powerful machine in place (which I am not
currently willing to do). I have turned off all mods and have even
re-installed SRCDS and all content for HL2 and CSS. If I have bots, I crash
with a C++ error. My crashes include STOCK maps (acutally I can't get out
of the first map without a system crash). I have seen the system go as long
as 5 minutes with an FPS Booster running and High Priority Rate, 7 Minutes
with FPS Booster and Normal Priority and 10 minutes without the FPS Booster
and Normal Priority.

Something drastically changed in the way that things are handled with either
AI or with tracking individuals on the server -- I cannot say that I have
had enough people on there since I removed the Bots to know if it
can/will/would crash with the same number of actual players on the system...
But belvie that the Bots are putting greater strain than clients because of
the AI.

Bud Ingram

We get the crashes without bots going near the servers, so although the bots
help crash the server, all I think they do is exacerbate an already

this would be? I used the same maps that Were on another breakfloor
server. I have also downloaded them from their site no such luck.
Any ideas? I don't have a admin mod or anything installed yet just
clean install with the maps in the map folder. its kinda screwy.
Thanks for any help there is

You can't run a bot on your sever before running the breaknbomb map (I
presume that is what you are talking about). I can't give you an
explaination as to what the problem is but if you comment out any bots
in your server.cfg, quit and then load the map it works fine.

I don't have this problem on any other map. Other maps I can just
choose not to load bots, this map there can't have been a bot on the
server before the map has loaded.

ever since the last update in cs source we have had trouble with our

our 50 man source server runs in high priority and uses about 20% of our
 dual xeon.

when we vote on a map or whatever when there are a few players we have
about a 50% chance of crash, but when our server is full we would
definitely
crash if we were to votemaps.

 any suggestions?
