Hi Gil,
Actually, it does make sense (at least to me) to have this threshold set.
We've gone back more than once to rescue a developer or support person who
inadvertently scratched a tape the day before and we were able to recover it
for them by using this "expired but not really" feature.
In the "scratch category" settings, you can set an "expire hold" field that
tells the TS77xx how long to keep an expired tape before releasing it to
scratch. I believe that once that threshold is crossed, the TS77xx rewrites
the tape mark to the beginning of the tape and all data is lost -

I assume the library physically doesn't exist anymore?
Go into ISMF, Library Management, tape library and display your active
libraries. Proceed at your own risk but I would guess you can delete the
library from ISMF here and it should stop OAM from complaining about it.

And then there's this handy little tool from MacKinney systems called MLI that

We still have remnants of IDs from M activities. Some of them are a 2

sure if they used CON for contractors or some other combination of letters

Yes, typically a task runs as a single TCB, and a TCB can only be dispatched on

Hey all,
I just got this tossed at me by an application developer. Cobol 6.3. Is there
some built-in function or something that they can put into a program to report
out the amount of CPU (TCB) time the program has consumed thus far in execution
of the program? We have a program that

If you see the underscores buried in the URL, all you really need is the stuff

Ehhh, I just found my "current" BLSR documentation. GC28-1469 that somebody
already pointed out, MVS/ESA 5.1, June 1994. Guess the old brain cells are

astonished at the difference. At the time I activated it I thought I
VSAM Demystified has a short (a couple paragraphs) blurb about BLSR as well.

Billy,
To answer one of your questions specifically -
While we have been talking here, I have looked, and found some jobs with
//SORTWK01 DD UNIT=(WORK,5)...
and this will not work, is that right, Sri Kolusu? I would only get the first
volume anyway?
You are correct, this will only use the
transactions now that at any point in
