Re: [JAWS-Users] Deleting folders from Dropbox Account
This may be strange, but I can't seem to find my Dropbox folders on my computer. I was running Windows XP, but now I'm using a computer with Windows 7. If they are not there, how do I install them or am I just not looking in the right place? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your help. Hello, Even though I do like how well JAWS v17 works with the default Mail app for Windows 10, I still gave the Windows Live Mail application a try. It seems to work even better with JAWS, and offers a whole lot more bells and whistles (News reader, Podcast and RSS feeds etc.). Are there any FS (Or user) tutorials out there giving tips on how to interact with WLM using JAWS? Maybe a list of all available keyboard shortcuts. One of the things I did like with the default mail app is that it gave you the number of replies for a particular thread in the subject line. WLM doesn’t seem to do that. Is there a way of enabling this? Also does WLM offer a message view pain. Meaning as you arrow through the list of message subjects, a portion of the associated message body will be shown in a view window pain. If WLM does offer such a feature, how do I turn it on. I’m very surprised that MS stop development on WLM for it seems to be much more advanced then the new Mail app they’ve replaced it with. Thanks for any help. [JAWS-Users] Is it my laptop keyboard or Jaws? (edited)
Sorry for the errors in the last message. Here it is again corrected. I have a laptop. I am running Windows XP. When I use my external keyboard, all is well, but when I try to type anything with the laptop keyboard, it doesn't seem to focus. I can't read things clearly. When I try to go to the desktop, it doesn't work correctly. It's as if Jaws isn't allowing focus to be where it should be. However, the external keyboard works fine. Any suggestions? thanks. (edited) Hi Sherri, It's most likely the touch pad located just below your keyboard. You have to turn the touch pad sensitivity level down, so it's not picking up your palm movements and the like. Alternatively, you can turn the touch pad completely off, but if sighted users use the laptop also, this may present a problem for them when they go to use the computer, though some laptops have a hotkey to turn the touch pad on and off. Alternatively, you can tape a piece of paper over the touch pad, so that your hand isn't making contact with the pad itself. This is what a friend of mine did, it it turned out to be successful. If you need more information on how to perform the above tasks, send us your laptop manufacturer, model and if possible, your serial number, and someone, more than likely me, can send you the relevant text from your laptop's manual. Well, except for the taping part, that one you'll have to manage on your own. LOL. Hope this helps. [JAWS-Users] computer not holding correct time
I'm running Windows XP pro on my laptop. I was trying to sinc my computer with an internet time source. When I did, my computer kept saying it is an hour earlier than it actually is. Even when I unchecked the internet time and set it to daylight saving Eastern time, it still goes back to an hour earlier. Seems to me there is a discrepancy between my bios clock and the time I set. How can I get my computer to display and stay on the correct time? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I am thanking you in advance so as not to clutter the list with thank you's. [JAWS-Users] Jaws not focusing on Internet Explorer
I am running I.E.7 and Jaws 12. It's a long story, but as a result of some computer repairs, for some reason, when I load Internet Explorer, I cannot seem to focus on any of the links. When I press control O, for example, to type in an address, Jaws does not talk and does not accept the address. When I press enter on a link or the search button, nothing happens. All my other programs seem to be working fine. I have done a Jaws repair with Freedom Scientific. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Jaws. If I go to a site from my favorites, which I have a shortcut to on my desktop, it navigates just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] configuring punctuation in individual applications
Here it is with much thanks to Mike O'Brien. Of course, you can vary the settings. Hi Do the following to have JAWS read all punctuation: 1. From the JAWS menu or window, those the options menu, then Voices and then Voice Adjustment. The voice profile for your default synthesizer will then be open. 2. Tab down to the punctuation level and select all. 3. Tab to the Save as button and press enter. Give the profile a different name, such as proof reading. 4. If it asks you if you want this new profile to be your default profile, answer no. 5. Open Word. 6. While in word, press JAWSkey+control+s to open the Select a Voice profile dialog. 7. I thought this might be a virus, but running a scan with MSE did not resolve the problem. Closing IE 8 and hence Google shuts off the sound effects. I have no idea what is causing this.
