Re: [JAWS-Users] Deleting folders from Dropbox Account

2018-01-13 Thread Sherri Brun
This may be strange, but I can't seem to find my Dropbox folders on my
computer. I was running Windows XP, but now I'm using a computer with
Windows 7. If they are not there, how do I install them or am I just not
looking in the right place?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your help.

Hi Sherri,

Go into the default / main Dropbox folder where all your shared folders are
located on your computer, & delete the folders you want to remove from
there. The deleted folders from your computer will also be removed from the
Dropbox website if I remember correctly.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.

I just name it "the folder file folders.old, that should solve the
problem??? I will give it a try and I will look up that new version of
Outlook Express for Windows 7 and 10. Thanks to all on this wonderful list

Sherri,

First, you can get a version of OE for Windows 7-10 if you want. It is at
runasxp.com.

Ok, I found this on a Microsoft Answers site; hope this helps...

257824 OL2000: Differences Between Outlook and Outlook Express
Symptoms
When you start Outlook Express, some of your default folders (Inbox, Drafts,
and so on) or personal subfolders that you created may be missing from the
Local Folders list. The folders were previously visible.

Cause
This issue can occur if the Folders.dbx file is damaged or corrupted.

Resolution
To resolve this issue, rename the Folders.dbx file for the impacted identity
and then start Outlook Express. This allows Outlook Express to rebuild a new
Folders.dbx file.

To rename and rebuild the Folders.dbx file:

1.. In Outlook Express, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click
the Maintenance tab.
2.. Click Store Folder, and then make a note of the path to your Store
folder on your disk drive. You cannot type in this box, but you can move
through the box by using the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard.
3.. Close the Store Folder and Options dialog boxes, and then quit Outlook
Express.
4.. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
5.. Locate the Store folder (you noted the path to the Store folder in
step 2).
6.. Right-click the Folders.dbx file in this folder, and then click Rename
on the shortcut menu.
7.. Type Folders.old, and then press the ENTER key. Make sure that the
file is renamed to Folders.old, and then quit Windows Explorer.
8.. Start Outlook Express. This automatically creates a new Folders.dbx
file; your folders should be displayed correctly.
NOTE: Always back up your data before you make any modifications to any
message store files, such as the Folders.dbx file. For additional

Thank you for the appreciative comments. It does help to give us a reason to
leave the check box not checked. What I mean is it is quite complicated to
configure such a mailing list it only takes a single check box to disable
the thing. Worry not, I still have this domain until January 2020 at this

Hi David. I'm sorry this has happened and perhaps this explains why I had
that incident a couple of weeks ago with this list's emails bouncing back,
since I am a gmail user. This time, however, I was lucky. I'm still hanging
in there; and if I was eject, I'd just re-subscribe. This list is indeed far
too valuable for me not to.

Cheers!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Any Tips for Using Windows Live Mail with JAWS v17?

Hello,

Even though I do like how well JAWS v17 works with the default Mail app for
Windows 10, I still gave the Windows Live Mail application a try. It seems
to work even better with JAWS, and offers a whole lot more bells and
whistles (News reader, Podcast and RSS feeds etc.).

Are there any FS (Or user) tutorials out there giving tips on how to
interact with WLM using JAWS? Maybe a list of all available keyboard
shortcuts.

One of the things I did like with the default mail app is that it gave you
the number of replies for a particular thread in the subject line. WLM doesn’t
seem to do that. Is there a way of enabling this?

Also does WLM offer a message view pain. Meaning as you arrow through the
list of message subjects, a portion of the associated message body will be
shown in a view window pain. If WLM does offer such a feature, how do I turn
it on.

I’m very surprised that MS stop development on WLM for it seems to be much
more advanced then the new Mail app they’ve replaced it with.

Thanks for any help.

I think he may be talking about the part in ResearchIt in JAWS? But it
doesn't seem to work that well anyway.

Hi Sherri,

It's most likely the touch pad located just below your keyboard.

You have to turn the touch pad sensitivity level down, so it's not picking
up your palm movements and the like.

Alternatively, you can turn the touch pad completely off, but if sighted
users use the laptop also, this may present a problem for them when they go
to use the computer, though some laptops have a hotkey to turn the touch pad
on and off.

Alternatively, you can tape a piece of paper over the touch pad, so that
your hand isn't making contact with the pad itself.

This is what a friend of mine did, it it turned out to be successful.

If you need more information on how to perform the above tasks, send us your
laptop manufacturer, model and if possible, your serial number, and someone,
more than likely me, can send you the relevant text from your laptop's
manual. Well, except for the taping part, that one you'll have to manage on
your own. LOL.

Hope this helps.

Scorpio

The problem is that they won't be able to do a JAWS Tandem because JAWS
closes once it displays the error.
BTW is my Signature short enough for you all now?

Well this Eloquence dilemma is getting worse because I tried to see if
it would load for another program, knowing it works well with NVDA and
not JAWS, it also is not working with Kurzweil 1000, because I tried to
switch engines and voices, and I think the same file or files required
by JAWS would also make it work with other TTS programs like K1000, but
strangely it works with NVDA but I just realize the reason why it works
with NVDA is because it is a plugin.
Is there an alternative way for me to get the necessary files for JAWS
Eloquence to work? I've tried all you guys said and still no go. Sadly.
I think it hates me for waiting for the DOR to upgrade JAWS. LOL! The
only other option other than talking to Tech Support, is to wait until I
get my upgrade from Rehab then, and then of course try it out on the
computer they will be giving me and then I'll know that it is the HP
machine and not me, since they'll be getting me a Dell Laptop with this
 same OS.

[JAWS-Users] installing and overwriting scripts

I have two sets of scripts that make my medical transcription platform work
better. one is newer than the other. I am trying to get my hard drive

received the older version of the scripts first and because I needed to do
work I installed them. I now have the newer version. Is it possible for me

[JAWS-Users] computer not holding correct time

[JAWS-Users] Jaws not focusing on Internet Explorer

2013-01-18 Thread Sherri
I am running I.E.7 and Jaws 12.

It's a long story, but as a result of some computer repairs, for some
reason, when I load Internet Explorer, I cannot seem to focus on any of the
links. When I press control O, for example, to type in an address, Jaws does
not talk and does not accept the address. When I press enter on a link or
the search button, nothing happens. All my other programs seem to be working
fine. I have done a Jaws repair with Freedom Scientific. I have also
uninstalled and reinstalled Jaws.

If I go to a site from my favorites, which I have a shortcut to on my
desktop, it navigates just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

This seems so elementary and I've done this before, but somehow, Jaws isn't
cooperating.

I am running Jaws 10. I have been lazy and not installed a newer version. My
SMA should carry me through Jaws 12,. When I check in \About it shows I
have two updates remaining. When I click on update it doesn't show Jaws 11

or 12 as a possible update. What do I do to update to Jaws 12? Thanks.

[JAWS-Users] configuring punctuation in individual applications

2012-08-21 Thread Sherri
I am using Jaws 12, which I just installed and running Windows XP. I do work
where it is necessary to have all the punctuation read when in Microsoft
Word. It looks like the only way to change punctuation is in the default
configuration settings, but I don't want every application reading
punctuation levels. How do I change punctuation levels for individual
applications? I have been playing with this for quite some time and can't
figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Try with a different speech synthesizer. Or, you can customize this
punctuation. First, set it to MOST or ALL. then, open the Settings
Center and, in the search field, type punctu or similar. In the list of
result that come up will be customize punctuation. You can press F6 on
it to bring up the dialogue; and change the button to ALL. (This has the
effect of silencing all speaking of the quote sign.) Close, and save
changes.

Hi

Do the following to have JAWS read all punctuation:

1. From the JAWS menu or window, choose the options menu, then Voices and
then Voice Adjustment. The voice profile for your default synthesizer will
then be open.

2. Tab down to the punctuation level and select all.

3. Tab to the Save as button and press enter. Give the profile a different
name, such as proof reading.

4. If it asks you if you want this new profile to be your default profile,
answer no.

5. Open Outlook express.

6. While in Outlook Express, press JAWSkey+control+s to open the Select a
Voice profile dialog.

7. Tab once and it should say for Outlook Express use default and you'll be
in a combo box.

8. Select the new profile and tab to the OK button and press enter.

Now when you open Outlook Express, it alone will use this new profile.

[JAWS-Users] changing the volume of Jaws independently

2010-10-29 Thread Sherri
I really feel I should know this and I even looked in Jaws help, but can't find
out how to accomplish this. I am running JFW10 with Windows XP and Eloquence.
Is it possible for me to change the volume of Jaws and leave the other items I
am running, say Winamp, the same volume. If I have Winamp set to 100%, Jaws is
very loud. Is there a way to lower the volume of Jaws without affecting the
Winamp volume? Thanks.

Sorry, no there isn't, XP is one of those opperating systems that don't
allow indevidual volume changes such as what your talking about, although
Vista and 7 has that ability via the system tray.

Re: [JAWS-Users] interesting issue

2010-10-22 Thread Sherri
I had the issue on my laptop when running my computer in battery mode. I
wondered if the settings were different enough that Jaws thought it was
running on an unauthorized machine. Anyway, I changed my battery settings,
but have not really tried it since. FS told me it might be something to do
with my bios settings.

Being the kind of person who likes to do it cheap, and do it myself,
I made a template in MS Excell.
I started out by making photo copies of my checks. You can see how cheap
I

am. I didn't even want to waste real checks.
Then by trial and error I adjusted cells and columns and rows until I have
things reasonably lined up, and can get the words and numbers in the right
places.
I even have a file of checks that are repeating, so I only have to change
the date each time I write them.
I'd be willing to share the template, but It may need to be adjusted to
match your printer

Hi all. with all the talk about accessible check writing softwhere etc
that I have seen on this list over the past little while. I am wondering
if some one knows if you are able to get your credit card bills in
accessible formats? I get my Braille bank statements but I am wondering if
I am able to get other bills in accessible formats? I once cald visa
Canada and asked if I could get my bills in accessible formats and they
said that they did offer a electronic format for the bills that they could
e mail to you but that I was not able to get both a electronic format of
my bill and a paper format that would be mailed to me it would have to be
either one or the other. as I have not as of yet set up any on line
banking I thought that i would stick with getting the bills in print but
this still poses the question are you able to get 2 copies of the same
bill one in electronic format so that you can read it on line and the
other in print if you need to keep it for your records. many thanks for
any help with this. from Mich.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws not saying selected item

On my desktop computer, it works fine, but on my laptop, when I select an item

not tell me what I'm selecting. Is there something I can do to fix the problem?

I hope that helps,

If you press the function key with the f-keys on the top row of the

Dell laptop into projection mode for use with a screen for presentations.
The other keys work with the function key too, but I don't remember what
they do. If you have your Dell lap top manual, you can probably find the

Hi!

You can easily do that in Vista and Win 7 but I'm not sure if one can
do the same in Xp. In Vista or Win 7, just left click on the Volume
icon present in your system tray (use Insert + F11 to open up system
tray dialog box) and tab to mixer button. Press spacebar and then tab
your way to the volume leveler of Application file for Jaws and then
adjust the volume as you like.

Dear Sherri,
I have been using AVG now for about 3 years, and I have had absolutely no
problems with it!

I find it is very JAWS friendly, and updates it's definitions several
times

a day!

I surely would not recommend that Avast program, as I have heard so many
people having serious problems uninstalling it!
I have used in the past Norton, McFee, and a couple of others, and in my
mind AVG beats them all hands down!

I purchased a AVG program at Office Max, for $39, and after installing it,
was pleasantly surprised that the license and update of the definitions
is

good for two (2) years!
A much better deal than one could get on their web site!

I wish I knew the answer to this one, because the only part of NFL
fantasy football that seems to be inaccessible involves ranking players
for the initial draft where you have a list of all eligible players and
you have to drag and drop the players you want up to the top of the
list.

It is possible but for most cut paste works better and is
less frustrating. I gave up on drag drop about 3 versions
ago

Hi,

Is it possible to drag and drop using jfw? If so how would I
do this?
