WOW Nancy you have really been doing 'my homework'.
I will dig out my gem microscope today and take a look. I did not when I was
viewing at 10 power that the ends sticking out were very straight, also there
were various thicknesses.
I have printed out the materials w=you have located on line
I have now now looked at the thread with a loop (10 power)- it is quite
'fuzzy' at that magnification, like a another known linen. And it is 's'
twist, I also went thru my linen threads and found 2 that are 80/2 and it
compares in size with them.
So I think the mystery is solved. I am going with

I did a burn test with the MT and a known linen and they burned the same, as
did the cotton and MT. But then all 3 are plant fibers.

a typical 'Irish pattern'.
I know BL was not a prevalent as other laces, but the student wants a BL

If you were to make a bolster pillow of the correct diameter, you could do it
all around the bolster and the beginning would still be 'pinned in place'.

My husband and I owned 3 over a 3-6 year period. Most do make nice pets (and
do not have to be caged all the time). They each had different
'personalities' and reacted to voices and touch differently. One liked to be
talked to by didn't really want to be touched. The other 2 seemed to enjoy
with any lacemakers in those cities/area if

alone. Removing it would probably remove the original too.and this is 'the
history' of the bobbin. I would try to just try rubbing those areas with ones

This would leave a raised twist of threads which would add subtle liniar

In our area we have had a very creative lacer, who over came the 'must see the
back' rule in 2 creative ways:
1- a butterfly was inserted into one of the acrylic frames molded at an
angle to be free standing,
2- a Rib Roll piece was mounted at the very top to a lovely matted
If you heat or cook with nat. gas or propane this alone will cause your silver
items to blacken. You must then take extra precautions (as below) to keep
them tarnish free.

I 'tie' the thread on with a slip knot/noose. I can then use the thread until
it is just the length of the 'leader' and then add a new one along side.

My daughters have asked me to do an inventory of my lace 'stuff' so they will
know how to dispose of it at a later date.

I it is April Lind, Shoreline, WA. (north of Seattle). She also painted
lace motifs on Rosewood bobbins but cannot do them any more since her chemo
therapy.

This is very similar to how I made my first 'homemade' bobbins. I still use
them with thicker threads, as they were quite coarse/heavy.
I now have a nice 14 lathe but rarely get time to use it. So many projects -
so little time.
