I am working under OS X, and using aspell.
When I run a spell check, it correctly locates the first questionable word (it
happens to have accents above a couple of letters). I ask it to add the word to

Just make sure you run the installer that comes with the LyX
application.
(If you have a fast machine, I'd recommend upgrading to LyX 1.4.1.)

This converts a string completely to uppercase. There's probably a much more
elegant way of doing this, I'm far from being a BibTeX expert, but this

X actually is. LyX is one tool among many for
preparing documents, and is developed and maintained by a bunch of
volunteers who work on it solely for the love of developing a useful
program. Please turn off your flamethrower, read the LyX Tutorial (at
minumum), then reframe your questions in an non-confrontational tone.

tries to add /usr/lib to the search path for libraries. For
better or worse, IRIX has 3 incompatible binary API formats (or
something) --- o32 ones live in /usr/lib, n32 ones live in /usr/lib32,
and n64 ones live in /usr/lib64. The default for IRIX 6.5 and later is
n32.
