Hiding preview pane in Mail?

Hi, please can anyone tell me if/how it’s possible to hide the preview pane in Mail on the Mac? I believe sighted users can do this by altering the divider line by dragging it. With VoiceOver, I interact with a vertical splitter, but cannot get it any less than 29%, so the preview pane is still
