Yes, I hear the same stuff, not from FOX.
How does a person find any reality (...maybe truth...?) when the major

I have zero tolerance for "science" climate change explanations, but I
don't think there is any path away from status quo even if I did

Neither side has proposals that fit the description "reasonable"

Re: [MBZ] [MB] do fuel filters ever fail out of the box or have a shelf life?

2015-07-18 Thread Dan Penoff via Mercedes
Interesting discussion on fuel filter swaps in the W220 forum at BW recently.
Someone was talking about “shocking” the fuel pump after a filter change, due
to there being air entrained in the fuel or a short period of time where the
pump might run without any fuel, potentially damaging the pump in the process.

I’m putting this out there as a possibility, however, I don’t buy it. Any more
than I buy the concept of “fluid shock” that some claim can occur when you do a
complete fluid change on an automatic transmission.

CentOS, the Community Enterprise Operating System, https://www.centos.org/

It's based on the open source files for Red Hat's Enterprise Linux
(https://www.redhat.com/en/technologies/linux-platforms/enterprise-linux),
but is without charge instead of $349.

P.S. I'm running CentOS 5.11 on our laptop because it lacks the PAE (I
think) BIOS features and won't boot standard CentOS 6 or 7. (I know

Hi,

Just finished replacing the fuel pump on our 1987 190E. While things are
better, they still aren't right. The car won't idle but will run around

Since this whole thing started when I replaced the fuel filter, I was

Re: [MBZ] Blown fuse

2015-07-18 Thread WILTON via Mercedes
Thanks for the reminder. In 36 years of driving MB's, I've never used
"econ." mode and had forgotten it.

Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon, I unplugged switch at dryer (easy for me to
reach), which kept compressor from operating. 'Ran control unit on HIGH fan
speed for 10 min. or so with fuse holding, then plugged in wires at the
dryer to allow compressor to run. Compressor seemed a bit noisy and ran
three or four minutes BLOWING ICE COLD until fuse blew. I'll take it to my
A/C guy 5 or 6 blocks away Monday to see what he can find.

BTW, not only can I not see the connection at the compressor, I can't reach
it - couple more of those things I used to do so easily.

Use the "economy" mode on the climate control. Works just like it does
in normal mode.

Or you can unplug the connection for the clutch at the compressor.

Adolph Chamberlain has more tricks up his sleeve. His namesake

Chamberlain has already neutered the gress of con. He is following

[MBZ] NCAA scams was: S500 Ouchies

2015-07-18 Thread Curly McLain via Mercedes
The official NCAA report. Yes, Mary W. I don't think she has any
interest in any association with them any more. The SIL was strung
along for a long time, lied to, and left swinging in the breeze too.
She has moved on too. All those big programs are just big business,
and care nothing about any of the employees, including the players
who are unmercifully exploited. She has so many stories of these
young men coming there to play football who were literate at maybe
the 3rd grade level, no concept whatsoever of "college." One of
them was actually brain-damaged, had sustained some sort of head
injury at a young age, was out like a light for 2-3 days, family
just left him on the couch until he came to, was never particularly
coherent thereafter, but he was a big strong kid and could play
football, about all he knew how to do. She took him under her wing,

I gave up on big time college sports 40+ years ago for those reasons
and similar I liked going to WBB with #1 daughter. Real
students, almost all in-state, real humble, Cheap tickets, open
seating, we could sit right behind the coach and team if we got there
20 min early or so. and, they WON! after the game, they came out
to meet their families and talked to anyone who wanted to talk to
them or meet them. It was great, and they had record attendance, I
think it was NCAA WBB record attendance.

Then the AD raised prices, went to reserved seats and it ruined the whole deal.

Here's the troubleshooting info for the clutch coil, either read ohms

amps depending on your test equipment. This was copied from the MBCA
forums before they effectively killed it. I met Bob Goodwin a few

and that is the clutch coil. Yes, the clutch coil. Famous for burning

out,

shorting out or just frying a few windings. Not enough to blow the

fuse but

plenty to disrupt the speed comparator and shut off the compressor
permanently or intermittently.

Of all the troubleshooting steps, checking the compressor clutch coil

is

cheap and relatively easy. Measure current with a clamp on amp meter.
Reading should be 3.75 A hot or 4.2 A cold. Resistance should be

approx 3.5

ohms hot or 3.1 ohms cold.

Everytime I chased an elusive A/C compressor problem in a Mercedes, it
turned out to be a bad clutch. I don't spend near as much on A/C parts
anymore.
